Gallery Not Showing Ext SD Card Photos from non-DCIM folders
Storage permission = ON
Attempted Methods:
Unmount -> Remount
Unmount -> Remove card -> Remount
Restart Phone
Clear Cache
Force Close -> Clear Cache -> Delete App Storage (Gallery App)
The gallery will not show any files other than ones in the DCIM folder taken by the built-in camera.
Gallery will not show any photos from any other folders (without .nomedia file) from the Ext-SD Card
Tested another 3rd party gallery app, which shows the photos, but don't support HEIC photo format
Please help!

Yes, it does. It only shows the photos on the Ext-SD Card which were taken by the Camera but nothing else.
I can even open ANY Ext-SD Card files in Gallery if it's called upon from a file manager.

When I get home in a few hours I'll pull my SD out throw some photos on it from my PC and see if my gallery can see them.
I just put a jpeg on the root of my SD card and it shows up fine in my gallery.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

On the contrary you discovered a new clue,
Following your test, I replicated storing on root, and Gallery indeed shows the photos.
Basically Gallery is only cataloging photos from new folders on the SD Card.
This means clearing the Gallery app data and cache is not clearing everything as it's still able to selectively exclude folders it thinks must be excluded.
I don't have an issue - I am able to see all existing and new folders and or images that are on my EXT SD Card as well as those on the device. No issues at all that I Can see.

put your card in a PC and run a virus scan... or if you have a backup of your files do format... or and finally maybe a Hard Reset on your device if there isn't any problem with the card.
I have a question regarding photos on my SD card. My camera is set to save photos on SD card, but here is my problem.
When I go to my SD card through "My Files / SD Card" the photos I have taken do not appear. They also do not appear on "Card" when I connect my phone to my computer. They only appear when I go to "My File / Images" or if I open "Photos". If I highlight a photo then go to details, it shows that the photo is saved on my SD card.
Any suggestions?
Thank you
I set my camera to save photos to the SD card and then when I go into my storage and click internal it shows an images folder. When I open it photos that I take with my camera are in there. Also new albums that I've created are in there and the only option is to save them to a cloud. Why aren't they saving to my SD Card and just as important, is there any other way to move those files to my SD Card???? PLEASE HELP.

Welcome to Marshmalow...
Saving photos to sd card should work on Marshmallow. It worked just fine with stock camera on LP as well when I had T2. Check camera app permissions. Check is sd card recognized by the system.

And when taking a picture the photo will save to internal. My Files seems to recognize the folder but not the gallery app
Download solid explorer or another 3rd party file explorer when you try to open a file on the EXSD card it will ask you to set up some permission in "myfiles" once you do that the gallery app will recognize the SD card. No idea why but I had to do this to get it to work as well.
Hello,
I am using a SD Card in my S7 edge and I want to save new photos automatically to SD Card as my internal memory is limited.
But I also want my existing photos to be in the new "camera" Folder on the SD Card. So I moved them to there, but the sort order is now screwed up.
It seem like the Gallery App is sorting the photos by the date and time I moved the files, not by EXIF dates.
I tried to correct the dates of the files with QuickPic App but it does not work (maybe because of the SD Card?).
Also I can't change the sort order within the standard Samsung Gallery App, which is really disappointing.
Does anyone know how to move image files from internal space to SD Card with keeping the EXIF date as filedate?
Or even better: How can I successfully fix the date of image files on the SC Card?
Thank you!!!
Felix
To move files without changing their filedate use a file manager on the phone like ES File Explorer.
