It seems like there are threads on release dates for many countries except the U.S! So this thread is for people with any information on the release date in the states. =)
I hear ya, I'm am so ready to buy this phone... now if t-mobile usa would speed up the process a bit I could quit driving my wife crazy surfing for anything related to the GS2
What we need to do is to create an online group for wives of phone addict xda members who can't stop researching new devices and roms. Then, they'll spend all day on that forum and won't notice we're ignoring them. My wife just doesn't understand that I NEED this phone on T-Mobile.
I hope you guys get it soon... just like us up north here in canada... but as for tmob getting it... the current international version doesn't have AWS support so that may hold it up a tad for them... just like WIND here... hope that doesn't burst a bubble... and if you already knew that... sorry!
This guy will do T-Mobile 3G, cough cough, 4G? It's a plus device?
It's looking likely that T Mobile USA won't release the SGS2 until sometime in July. With the Sensation release looking likely for June 8th, they need time to maximize its sales before releasing another high end phone. I just don't know if I can wait. I might jump on the G2x or the Sensation.
I may have missed it, but is AT&T going to be getting this phone?
I keep hearing about tmobile but no AT&T talk. If not then i am going to be very very sad.
to my knowledge AT&T's bands are supported on the international version and as a result if carriers are smart and release the actual model and don't demand variants then you should be in the clear

That's really ****ty if they hold it off till July considering the rest of the world get's it in about a week or two.
I'm really hoping that information about its release date will come soon. If US carriers don't get it soon, I'm going to have to buy the international version.

Indeed. I'm ready for one, NOW, to use with T-Mobile. Group buy, perhaps?
It's not unlikely that all major US carriers (and some minor ones) will get variants of the SGS2, though the timing is very uncertain (there have been NO credible stories about precise targets, with the only semi-official statement indicating that Fall is most likely for its first appearance).

I'm almost positive the SGSII will be available on all carriers it's just a matter of timing on the release just like it's predecessor =).
Well, a while ago from that leaked verizon "phone schedule" the SG SII was slated for sometimes in May. Now how long into may or if it gets released is the question. Right now I'm looking to upgrade to a smartphone and grandfather in.
So far Galaxy S 2 is looking pretty sweet and I want it

wasn't that a 1st of April joke/hoax?
AT&T Infuse announced in Jan 2011 is about to be released sometime in MAY, and it is an AT&T exclusive (does not need to stand out by definition).
With the SGS2, the 4 majors would want to customize the phone to stand out from the others, so I would expect even longer delay between the announcement (March) and release.
And now we hear Sammy has SGS3 for the Fall.

Well so far, all the phones on that list have been released at about the right time :O, so not really sure if it's april fools joke. The list had specific dates for all the other phones except for instance bionic/galaxy s 2, where it said "May" for their releases.
I'm hoping for the may release so I can get grandfathered in with the Galaxy s 2 !!!!!! *crosses fingers**

and that is exactly why I created that thread about SGS3, but people are just laughing there

Since SGS2 may not even penetrate the market by the Fall of 2011, it is possible the US carriers will just skip SGS2 and go straight for SGS3.
I hope not because then we won't get the SGS2 this fall and will have to wait until February 2012 before the US carriers get around to destroying the device with useless and unwanted carrier changes and blotware and finally release the GS3 to NA that came out in the UK in September lol
I wish Samsung, HTC, Motorola and the other major players would just stand up to the US carriers and say "This device hits the market internationally in May you have until then to do what ever modifications you feel necessary and send the device to us to verify it meets our QA to ensure they don't cut corners to meet the deadline. If you don't have your modifications done by that time you have to release the device the way it was intended free of carrier modifications. If you don't comply with this then you won't get a flagship device that is required to meet your sales goal for the quarter and compete with other carriers that meet these requirements and have our flagship devices available"
How hard would that be, the carriers HAVE to have the newest flagship devices to complete in the high end market if the device manufactures would start throwing their weight around and refuse to release devices to the US market the carriers would have no choice but to back down. Sure that would mean an initial delay in the US for some devices while the carriers cry about not getting their way but eventually they would have no choice but to give in and then then the NA market not only gets all of our future devices in a reasonable time frame they aren't all ruined by the carriers petty attempt to stand out from each other. I don't know about anyone else but personally I would be willing to not have the SGS2 available if it meant I got the SGS3 when it was released in the UK free of carrier modifications and bloatware and that is ultimatly what this would come down to. The NA market misses a generation of top end devices but in return starting with the generation after that we don't have any more of this BS. I can suffer a little in the short term for a worth while long term reward. Plus I would bet money the smaller carriers who are trying to take a chunk out of the big guys market would love the chance to pick up flagship devices that the 3 major carriers missed out on because they wouldn't leave the device alone and just release it so it isn't like the devices would be totally unavailable you could still always get it from say Boost or T-Mobile who are more worried about customer satisfaction than adding bloatware and acting like a petty child who has to try and make his new toy "better" than the other kids or buy the international version and add it to a supported US network like many are doing with the SGS2

I am sensing SUNDAY June 12th AT&T release of Samsung Galaxy Attain (almost 11 months after the Captivate)!!!
How long was it from when they made the announcement last year did the Galaxy S actually go on sale on AT&T?
Here you go, last years dates I posted earlier
kreoXDA said:
Do you guys remember how the first Galaxy was introduced on the 4 carriers last year?
Let me remind you
June 4th - first release in Asia
June 29th - launch party in New York City where it was first announced that 4 models were coming to 4 carriers, with no dates. (+25 days)
Later on, gradually, release dates were being announced about 1-3 weeks prior to a particular release. The phone was released as follows:
T-Mob - July 15th (+41 days)
AT&T - July 18th (+44 days)
Sprint, keyboarded CDMA version - August 30th (+87 days)
Verizon, CDMA version - September 9th (+97 days)
We learned that SGS1 was even coming to the United States 3.5 weeks after the phone was released in Asia.
The quickest provider T-Mob got it almost 6 weeks after the first country.
The slowest provider VZW - 3 months after.
So give this some time, sit back, relax, wait for bug reports from the UK beta testers , and enjoy your fixed (or maimed) version in a few short weeks.
peace

Note the US Launch party last year was 25 days after first international release, and this event is around 25 days after Korea/UK release
lol after dealing with the ATT Craptivate for a year I'll gladly "beta test" the vanilla samsung GS2
good luck with your carrier updates. I'm done purchasing US phones "variants" that force you to use reorient kernels for the Roms.
Thanks for the release date info. Looks like they're following a similar schedule... just bumped ahead 1 month from last year =)
Still, as much as I'd like to wait for a US variant... I don't really want to have to sign a contract to get one, nor do I want to put up with the bloatware and filth they put on the phone. Rooting and flashing ROMs on my T-mobile spec Galaxy S was annoying, having to ODIN back to certain firmwares before being able to flash a new ROM.
And the one question that I'm still wondering... will the US be getting a tegra version? That would suck =(

i've been off contract since Dec. i had originally settled on getting the Infuse when it was first announced but instantly fell in love with the SGS2 and decided to wait. but... i need a new phone NOW. actually i needed a new one 2 months ago but decided to hold strong for the SGS2... but it's come to a point where my current phone is damn near unusable, so i think i'm going to get the infuse when it launches and roll the dice on the sgs2 coming out before the remorse period ends. or failing that just give it back and wait some more for the sgs2 to release.
I think the best option for some of us is to buy the carrier branded version on contract, sell it, and use that money to get the vanilla SGS 2. After dealing with all the Captivate issues as well I'm never buying a carrier branded Android ever again.

not to mention the Craptivate looks ugly as hell and nothing like a SGS
If i was on att there would be no doubt id go with international like you said no waiting for carrier update, no carrier branding and missing hardware features.
I really wish carriers kept the design the same as the international it would be so much easier to update and to port roms

That's one point where you're crazy. The Captivate is the nicest Galaxy S and has a lot less plastic than any other one. Everyone has told me they liked the Captivate over the other Galaxy S variants. I've been very happy with the Captivate, but not as happy about the AT&T branding and waiting for their crap.
I would much rather spend the money and buy the phone unlocked than buy it from ATT.

Only issue I see with this is warranty support. If Samsung US would support a UK model fine, but if it requires international shipping that would give me pause.
What if the US version has NFC? Would that change your mind?
Yes, NFC is useless right now, but wouldn't that at least lower your resell value of the UK version whenever one else in your area has NFC?

Given the fact (I hope) all 4 major carriers are getting it, and AT&T, VZW and T-Mob are in an NFC payment system alliance , the chances of US getting NFC versions are not extremely low

I don't see NFC being that important to me right away. I am guessing by the time it becomes important to me, I will already be looking at another phone.
Also, even though the UK might not be getting the NFC version, you probably will still be able to buy a NFC version unlocked from another country.
Hate to say it... but until the iPhone gets NFC it's not worth worrying about.
Devices still need to be upgraded in stores, airlines, and what not to accept NFC no? The above poster is probably correct, the phones are going to need to be widely available before companies spend the money to upgrade their equipment.

Why, because the iPhone has the market share lead and will dictate what the market will do? No, that's Android.
Do you think it's possible we'll see the Galaxy Note released with Verizon wireless in the near future? Maybe Q1 ? I do not understand Verizon's business strategy behind this I hate it!
I'd like to be optimistic and say it will, but the odds are that it won't. The Note is a GSM device; Verizon would have to request a CDMA version, and I can't see the odds of that being too high in the near future.
The Galaxy SII got a CDMA variant, but only because it's Samsung's flagship device, and even that took approximately six months. The Note's size limits it to a more niche market.
No it is unlikely that you will see the Galaxy Note on the Verizon any time in the near future. They have plenty of new devices they've already launched along with the upcoming Galaxy Nexus to be thinking about launching the Galaxy Note as well right now.
Also, you shouldn't use an explanation point in your subject header when asking a question. It implies that your stating a fact about the Galaxy Note and Verizon Wireless and was the reason i even clicked the thread .
I don't see this coming out in the US at all anytime soon let alone Verizon
I am in agreement with the other postings, Both the Carriers and Samsung are really missing the boat not giving us this device before Christmas. More than likely it is all based on business modeling .........meaning........ we need to sell xxx-amt of the sgs2 or other phones then toss us this afterwards. I is rumored that we will see a USA version in Q1........ but with Samsung's record on meeting deadlines that could mean August.......
I cant for the life of me figure out why anyone would want this phone on a US carrier iteration with slower updates and paying more for your whole phone+plan combo on a contract...

so what do you guys think, just go with nexus for now & wait for the g-note when it arrives? if it arrives.
Yes. If anything, you can sell your Nexus when the Note is released, if it is released at all.

Obviously you are correct,
but yet again I am quite confused as to why anyone would think that verizon would get an GSM only phone when they famously passed up on the GSII because they were getting the nexus.
i was just reading articles (on korean news web site) and it was saying that
samsung will not introduce galaxy s3 in MWC but they might display Galaxy note S instead.
The article also stated that the Galaxy Note S will have ICS, better camera and quadcore CPU..
Now, I don't know if this source is regit and trustful.. but i am definitely interested in, and probably even consider, changing my note to the quadcore ICS Samsung galaxy note for sure
imo i dont think samsung will introduce another note before s3 also i dont think samsung is willing to put an alternative to its own product while it is sales are good.
That would be suicide in my personal opinion. They JUST released this device 3 months ago, and they're going to announce the next one? Do you know how many people would be pissed off, myself included. Especially after paying top dollar (in my case Euro) for a device that they would supposedly be phasing out for its new big brother Note S?
I count this as pure speculation, and it won't happen. I stand corrected if it does, and I would have also lost complete faith in Samsung if they do! That's just bad marketing!!!

+1, you are 100% correct. The Galaxy Note only just came out, only had mine a few months so it's very unlikely they will release another one.
In fact the Note hasn't even been released in the US yet! How can they bring out a newer version when the original is still to be released in America?
I'd say 2013 at the earliest for a Note replacement, not anytime soon...
It's most likely a fake rumour or the Galaxy S III...
Rumors make the world go round.
I don´t think that after the huge success of the S2 and the Note, are the Samsung Mobile managers in any hurry of releasing a next device. From the Note there are already over 1,5 Million devices sold and the phone is not even out in the US.
At the moment the market will stay stable for a while there is really no real competitor to Samsung. HTC is no where near at the moment with their products and LG just failed in my opinion giving the customers the support they deserve.
The strategy is pretty simple. The web will be filled with rumors and speculations for the S3 / possible Note2 just to build up momentum and discussions about it.
Samsung has placed its self as an Apple alternative nr1 at the moment. They will only release an S3 or a Note2 when Apple decides to release the Idumb5.
So expect both devices (Idumb5 and S3) at about the same time (estimate mid summer).
Customer support is the key to success. Give the customer the feeling he is valuable to the company and you will try to keep him satisfied. Especially if he has payed some 600€ for a fricking phone.
i totally agree with you, the new note s won't be in market anytime soon, but i was thinking that samsung might introduce note s in MWC and produce it in the 4th quarter? then again, i have no idea if the writer has regit sources.. but hey, quadcore note.. im totally buying it lol
From what I heard, the Samsung Galaxy Note S was the smaller version of the current Note. Although that's very doubtful because that sort of is the Galaxy S II.
Releasing this phone any time soon would simply mean less money for Samsung, as the Note is still being sold alot, and needs to be sold more in the US too.
I sure hope the Samsung Note S is just a rumour if it, indeed, is the bigger, quad core version of our Note. That'd devastate all the current Note users..
quit whining
Guys,
I am really surprised at the attitude here, why would anyone not want them to release a newer updated version of the Note, a product that is already good but like anything can be made even better.
Technology marches on, the note was announced early summer 2011 yes some of you have only just got them but there will still be people buying galaxy s2 even after the s3 is released or announced.
do you really want to stop progress, it would be like saying our parents saying i dont want anyone to invent CD's because I have just bought a nice tape deck.....
Grow up, quit whining and stop trying to fight the future.
I'll flog my note to some technological dullard and buy a quad core, super amoled plus hd ( non pentile ) rear plate cmos camera equipped G Note S the moment it comes out.
Now a real question is does anyone know if the S-pen will retain pressure sensitivity using the ICS native api or only running wacom drivers......
MG
I am not against the future or development of technology.
I just hope that Note S don't come out TOO SOON. Got it? NOT TOO SOON!
'Cause I don't want my beloved Note is soon defaced by a stupid-same-size-and-design thing!!!
I wrote about this few weeks back,GNote with its 5.3" screen has created a completely new class, and looks like its becoming a hit fast,so Samsung just cant sit back and watch some another company come up with same form factor but with better specs, they have to keep themselves in the lead by beeing few steps ahead of the compitition.
Hence my prediction that we will have a new GNote sometime in the 4th quarter, and ,of course, i will be there to get one ,which also means cutting back my beer consumption, since this thing doesnt come cheap!!.

The Note was first announced in September 2011 and released in October 2011 (black version). Most phones were delivered in November / December first time and the white devices were first in December there.
We are at the start of February the phone is at the hands of most owners for a maximum of two or three months.
I am one of the owners who frequently changes phone, mostly because its a hobby but I really like the note and I would like to stick to it longer than 3 months before I loose a huge amount of money just because a newer version is out.
I can see a successor to the note only in at aprox year from now as a bigger S3.
These could be a Galaxy Note S or Plus or whatever but I don't think it will be a replacement for Galaxy S2 but just another addition in Samsung product portfolio.
As I wouldn't be happy to get 5 something inch screen because it's too big for me if we speak about phone

Hah! Funny people. Do your really think that Samsung is that stupid? They've invested A LOT of money into the Note, and it sells pretty well, and you think that Samsung will unveil a new model when the US version just got released, and they advertised at the freaking Super Bowl!?
"Yes, let's advertise this product and release a completely new model in a month and burn some serious money".
If they did that people would stop buying the Note and wait for the "Note S", and Samsung would have massive losses. Do you think it's cheap to build and design a phone? No. It costs millions upon millions of dollars.
The natural thing would be to unveil the next gen Note in september again; 12 month after the previous unveiling, like they're doing with the Galaxy S products.
And i'll end this post with a quote:
"When pushed, Ryan Bidan, director of product marketing at Samsung, said that while he wasn’t sure what the model count for his company would be in 2012, he agreed that phone makers should drive down the number of phones. “Sheer SKU proliferation is a problem,” he said."
Maybe it could be the rumored Samsung Galaxy Journal rumored to be coming on Verizon and Sprint (USA). Same 5.3" display and all that but CDMA w/LTE support.
Yup, that might be the case.

Firemaker please keep up.
There was plenty of articles and discussions about samsung note back in august last year and the note or smart-tab-phone ( translation) was allready shown at a number of trade shows in korea througout the summer ( Anyone could read about it ahead of the official release even in mass market blogs like engaget )
Its now february half a year later and I dont understand the alarm and negative comments this is causing.
1) most buyers of these devices dont even read these geek only sites and just buy what they see in the stores... they dont care what *might* be available on worldwide import or other geos
2) very few of the notes users pay 600 anythings £$€ as they just buy phones on contract so its no real loss for them if there is an update
3) Surely any reasonable individual would be pleased if sammy annouce an updated note taking advantage of refreshed technology, we are not talking revolution here, purely an evolution to the current state of the market for a premium device. ( how could any non luddite aurgue this isnt a good thing ?)
4) people are whining they are loosing money ....WTF you bought something its great, so chill out be pleased, something better will come out soon, who cares you havnt lost anything ...if you buy a dell pc and intel release a faster processor six months later will you get upset if dell include it in that model......
we should celibrate these refreshes and be pleased for constant innovation otherwise we would all be still walking around with wap speed data on our tft ipaqs and sony clies instead of hspa oled hd notes.....
maybe they announce TW5 and ICS
May be they will announce a Galaxy Note S with SuperAMOLED Plus?
All the 'S' phones have SuperAMOLED Plus display. YoU never know,
Seriously, it's releasing in 2 days and no pricing or availability details??

Yes, but Sept 25 for over 100 countries. If there was such a massive launch scheduled within 2 days, don’t you think we’d hear something about it? Pricing, which European stores were going to carry it, unboxing videos, hands-on reviews with retail units, etc.
But nothing!
So this makes me think that those countries aren’t getting it soon. And if they are delayed, then you better believe we will be, too.
This blows.
In italy nobody have notice about the new Note...
I did a quick search for Samsung's IFA 2013 announcement's and The Verge noted the GN10.1 2014 Edition was slated for an October release with no specific date provided. Just figures.

For a device that's supposed to be available in three weeks, I find this lack of information very strange.
I don't get why so many tech companies don't get this. This is why Apple is as successful as it is, they don't pull this kind of thing.

Galaxy Note 3 (deservedly) Galaxy Gear (not so deservedly) is taking all the attention it appears. However, they could throw us a bone here and there. I know that they don't expect a lot of sales but still, as I said in another thread, if you want to gain loyal customers, you don't pull this kind of stuff.
Pull what kind of stuff?
They showed a upcoming product, never announced a release date, and have yet to do so (likely because they don't have one yet). I'm not sure what the alternative is other than to just make one up and then miss it?
Personally I'd rather them wait to announce anything until it's a sure bet and I respect them for that.
Nothing pisses me off more than having a release date and it gets missed or there is a shortage.
I really don't understand the current hysteria lol...
Looks like this may shed some light on when it's coming....

My Prediction based on the roll out of roms for the Wifi & WIFI+3G Variants
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457074

That these variants will be released as rumored before end of September early October. ( which seems promising for Middle east, Africa & European countries )
The LTE 4G version seems to be released on a later stage - probably November. ( For North America )

Will see, samsung fail atm!
Screw this. If they keep us in the dark, I'll just go with IPad 5.
Bring on the flamers, I don't care.

I agree, a release date that is announced but then not honored is also very annoying.
What I mean is that they announce a device, with some kind of release date (at least an approximate one; at least in some areas) but yet there is very little information (for example the price) out there fore interested customers.
In my opinion, if you announce a device you need to be able to present a release schedule and reccommended retail pricing. Otherwise people are going to get excited about your device at the announcement but then get frustrated during the wait of indeterminate length.
This is the example that I experienced: The Note is announced at the end of august. Weeks later, online stores (where I live) still didn't have it in their catalogue and asking customer support, they said they had no info about it, be it price, release date or even if they will have it, because they were not informed by samsung. When the new iPhones were announced the stores had them in their catalogues on the same day, pricing, release date and all. Today you can buy the new iPhones, which were announced two weeks after the Note, of which there is still no sight.
From a marketing point of view it just doesn't make sense to me. You spend a lot of money and effort announcing your device, trying to get people excited over it. But because people can not act on their excitement (for a long time) all that energy just dissipates, instead of it going into pre-orders/sales.
well you can play with the firmware already ;] i uploaded it to my server for fast dl http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457067 njoy
