Hi my i9505 is rooted and I deleted the Vodafone bloat ware from it, my question is this,.......how do I reinstall the bloat ware before I update to 4.4 or don't I need too (I read it's dangerous to update if you have removed bloat ware from your phone, or is this untrue, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kinds Regards
PS Before I forget how come some firmware from some sites say 4.4 Vodafone Australia, and some just say 4.4 Australia, does this means it will work with any i9505 or is it just they forgot to put in the carrier ??, my phone isn't locked but had some of the Vodafone bloat ware on it before I rooted and removed it.
@da20valve
Lol. No one forgot to put the carrier. Some firmwares are unbranded and some are branded.
The branded ones work with the carrier locked phones.
Unbranded ones work with the unlocked ones i.e. those who dont have a carrier locking
And it is safe to flash even if you have removed the bloat as when you flash a new firmware everything will return.
And yes. Backup the EFS folder (use the play store to download a efs backup software with highest rating) before you flash even the Official Firmwares.
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ? "
So does that mean since mine is now unlocked even though it was from Vodafone originally I can use the unbranded ones ? (and if its the wrong one will it hurt the phone), also I just downloaded and Jwarriors EFS Backup Tool and saved it to my SD card, thanks for your help, I hit the thanks button.
Cheers

Haha.
Yes now your phone is unbranded and nothing can lock it now.
Still let @MAX 404 confirm this

No need to reload bloatware , you can use any stock firmware in your phone as long as is for your S4 model (i9505)

hi mate
This is the latest for Optus
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/37801/I9505XXUGNH6_I9505OPSGNH2_OPS.zip/
Instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
I would do a backup first of your efs folder , any thing important and do a factory reset first.

Should I use the Optus one or the one that just says Australia ?, as mine phone was originally Vodafone would it really matter, if it doesn't why do they bother branding them. why don't they just build one for the 4 main carriers, or does the one that says Australia for all carriers.

IMHO you should flash a non branded one.
Why flash the optus one? Just because youre using optus (guessed) does not mean you have to flash that.
And firmwares are branded because they carry specific modem reqirements for the carriers

Re root after 4.2 unbranded update
Okay since I installed 4.2 my phone is rebooting a ****load (during calls) and just sitting there, wondering would the problem could be, I have noticed there have been a few erros that have said "folder mount has stopped working, can I just uninstall this or doesn't it work like that, also I am not rooted anymore should I root now or wait to get the problem sorted out first.

You need to do a factory reset and if that doesn't sort it try a different firmware.

Hi there!
As 2.3.4 was released, I have some questions..
My phone is unbranded and I live in the Netherlands.
1) If I flash PDA/Phone/CSC from the 2.3.4 package, will it screw up the phone?
2) How do I fully format the phone? (I prefer when re-flashing)
Thanks in advance!

I think the 2.3.4 is not packaged as a .tar its three files. Put the low file in PDA, the csc file in csc and the remaining file in phone then flash. After flashing it will reboot automatically, it will erase data to so back up do not do anything with the. Pit, throw the. Pit file away...

If it works dont worry too much about the CSC. I have not even checked mine to see what im running Only worry if your using Kies and you like to update through Kies.
If you use the fantastic odin there is no need to worry But when 2.3.4 is released properly for your region install the proper rom then There are guides to restore your CSC in the dev section under debrand and rebrand...
I think all you have to do is hold down power button, up volume and the home button at the same time andrestore factory settings once on the rom of choice

and once angain with your "odin is da best".
It's time for you to understand that for many users , Kies is simple .
Odin is a nice tool and I use it a lot, but it was never intended for us End-users originally.
And it's way more easier to mess your phone with it than failling with kies when you are a first time SGS user.

Csc is used by google market mainly(with a KOR CSC you will see a lot of korean apps while searching for apps, for example).

Hi there, new to the forums posting but I read here constantly. I have an sm-900w8 note from Telus in Canada. I was running a custom rom before and decided I wanted to go back to stock before the Kitkat release. Anyway, I flashed the rom from sammobile.com that was for my phone (the link said it was for telus and the file even ends in TLS). So I flash it using odin and everything is perfect, the phone reboots and odin is finished. After that I decided I wanted to clear all my data and apps off the phone as well so I did a factory reset. The next time I turn the phone on everything is working (wifi gps ect) but I can't get on the network and it says I don't have a valid SIM. Also I notice the app packages from telus are not the correct ones and one of them is labelled Bell. So I am guessing the site has the bell firmware for telus as well? This doesn't matter to me but I do need my network running. Do you think it would just be a modem problem? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated guys!

The first and most important question: Do you have a backup of your EFS folder?
If so, you'll be happy. If not, prepare for the worst case scenario.

Seems you have installed a carrier FW on your device and it has SIM LOCKED it. try flashing another.
EDIT: @donalgodon - it's only really EFS when it boot loops and shows Android process not responding etc :good:

Well, that's not exactly accurate. The phone can boot with a corrupted EFS, but you will get no network access (and no IMEI number.)
It's happened to me, so I know it's possible. It's a common symptom of the OP's issues on Samsung devices.

Yeah I am sure I'm not in dire straights yet and lucily I have my backup phone to use for now. I am wondering though, sammobile is the most legit source for stock firmware around, do you guys have any suggestions? Or can I possibly even try just flashing a new modem through odin? (I have never done this but seems easy enough)

True, however, OP states that it was Telus FW that was downloaded and flashed...but it's showing BELL.settings, So the probability of it being EFS is low, it's sim locked the device via the BELL firmware more than likely. Reflashing the correct or unbranded firmware will indeed fix it

Well Sammobile isn't immune to mistakes, but it's rare it happens, they're genuine enough.. You could try the modem, first thing I'd do is test the back up and see if it's the downloaded ROM that has cause the issue.
And yes, you can flash the modem via Odin.

I thought this doesn't work in changing csc code. What's the full numbers you have to input, is it #*272*IMEI# ?
this FTF is created from my Phones4u unlocked handset.its UK generic fimware without any bloadware. should work on other unlocked european hanset too. here is the link
https://mega.co.nz/#!txkCQArB!LMVBizNxSHpuqqvgIEPLsQWJPpxvgUXSXr7zYWz8gqw
Here is the quick guide to flash ftf using flash tool.
The first thing that you need to Download last version. Search google for latest version
Step 1 : Download the Flash tool and install it. Open "C:\Flashtool\drivers"
Run the program “Flashtool-drivers” .Check the option “Select components to install” and find the phone for which you want to flash the ftf file In this case Xperia Z2. Select both ”Flashmode drivers” and “Fastboot drivers”. Click the “install” button and wait till drivers are installed on your PC. If you are using window 8.1 64bit, follow this guide to install these drivers
64-Bit editions of Windows require digitally signed drivers. The problem is that many devices ship with unsigned drivers. Today, I'll show you how to install them regardless.
Keep Pressing shift button and select restart.
Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option.
Then head into Advanced options.
Then Startup Settings.
Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your Computer one last time.
Finally, you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key.
That’s all there is to it. Your PC will then reboot and you will be able to install unsigned drivers without any error message
Now open ”C:\Flashtool\firmwares”, copy paste the downloaded ftf file specific to your xperia device & latest firmware.
Run FlashTool
Step 2 : Switch off your xperia, wait for 30 seconds, Insert USB Cable in PC first & hold “Volume Down or volume up” button while you insert cable in Xperia phone. Green light in notification LED confirms that phone has been connected successfully.
Step 3 : Notice the “Black Thunder” option in the top most left corner. Click & Choose option “flashmode”.
Click “Select source folder” and select the copied ftf file from “C:\Flashtool\firmwares” and check the option “Wipe Data”. Under option “Misc” , check mark the option “No Final verification” if you are on Android 4.0.4 ICS Stock version.
Click OK, now Flashtool will prepare files for flashing & flash the selected ftf file on your xperia device.
Start the phone once the flashing is done. The first reboot will be very slow. after that.
That's it you are done.
Thanks for posting this its greatly apprecaited

You don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash stock ftf file with flashtool.
This will work fine on any branded set but will replace firmware with generic so no network specific apps (bloatware).

Hi everyone!
Please be kind if this is a stupid question
Got my Z2 from vodafone today as they have carrier exclusivity. I know that debranding the phone will do nothing with regards to the SIM lock status of the phone, however I want to get every step out of the way as soon as possible.
Is it okay to flash the firmware BEFORE having received an unlock code and will an unlock code for the network just remain the same or should I wait until the phone is unlocked and then apply the debranding?
Any advice appreciated!
(Also: Has anyone who has flashed noticed speed increases or anything that doesn't work smoothly? It seems only VODAFONE UPDATE is impossible to get rid of and I wonder if it's worth the drama ).
THANKS GUYS!

Hi,
I've had som rough weeks with my GS4 I9505. Hopefully some of you can help me.
I'm running CM11 nightlies, which was doing pretty great, until 3 weeks ago, where the media sound disappeared.
Well actually, I found out that the media sound WAS playing, but it was SUPER low. I had to put the volume at max and lay my ear directly on the speaker to hear it just a bit.
I read that a couple of others had the same problem, or at least I thought so, but now I tend more to think that my problem is/was hardware related.
Anyway, I tried flashing a lot of different firmwares, to match the bootloader and so on.
I am currently on:
Bootloader: I9505XXUFNB9
Baseband: I9505XXUFNB9
PDA/CSC: BLANK
The latest stock Samsung firmware I flashed, was: I9505XXUFNB9_I9505NEEFNB2_NEE
I am from Denmark and my phone is unbranded.
When I did that, the phone got VERY slow and wifi didn't work. Then I flashed CM11 again and wifi worked.
But now I am totally unable to make calls, it just freezes up and finally makes the call, but the call-speaker, media-speaker and microphone doesn't work.
When I try playing video (and some games) the specific app freezes and crashes too.
If I at least could get back to where my call-speaker/microphone worked and I had super-low audio I'd be ever so happy, 'cause then I can go and get a new media-speaker.
I hope someone can help me, otherwise I'll have to trash this phone, which I've been pretty happy to use for a while now.
Any pointers will do!
Thank you in advance.

Hi mate , hi DeepankarS
Seem like two different problems here.....
the low volume may be a hardware problem , the speaker gone bad , if you can hear fine with your earphones i would say is a speaker problem...really easy to replace btw.
the other problems showed up after flashing so i asume they come from bad flashing........backup , also efs folder , do a factory reset and flash stock again.......what recovery you have ? the important thing is to leave the phone clean before you flash with Odin

Yea, they started when flashing new bootloader and modem.
I'll try that in the morning (again) - It's quite late here.

So, the phone should be totally clean before flashing with Odin? I don't think I did that last time actually

Dowbload any october/september build without carrier locking.
AFAIK, there was this UK one of October. You can try that
Also there is an Ireland one without carrier locking
AND IF YOU ARE ROOTED AS OF NOW, BACKUP EFS BEFORE FLASHING.
Use a good rated efs backup app from the playstore.

Hi ,
you have two options , factory reset and clean to install a new rom , try them both
Also would not hurt to mounts and storage menu/ format data and /datamedia ( /sdcard) that is your internal SDcard so is really clean....but after that you need to have a custom rom in the externalSD or go to download mode and flash with odin ....
Same rom as before should be fine....or download it again just to make sure is ok
BAckup first!! efs folder also.

Same rom as before should be fine....or download it again just to make sure is ok
BAckup first!! efs folder also.

I'll just format "everything" when it comes to it - And backup first ofc.

The only one I see as "unbranded" is from Ireland, as you're saying.
Should I try flashing this?

The only thing I'm worried about is this: CSC: I9505TSIGNG1, as it looks kinda branded to me.

@MAX 404 meant do backup the EFS folder.
And you can select the area of firmware from here

Yea I know
I searched for Ireland, there's one from October, should this be fine?
This one: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/38024/I9505XXUGNG8_I9505TSIGNG1_TSI.zip/
I see that the one I flashed last time is for Nordic countries (where Denmark is) - But it is from February, so pretty old...

Okay... I flashed I9505XXUGNG8_I9505TSIGNG1_TSI.zip
Currently on Stock Samsung 4.4.2, but it is running slow, without wifi, the vibration is all wrong (small, random bursts of vibration all the time).
Should I try flashing CM11, or just give up?

Hi,
I've had som rough weeks with my GS4 I9505.

Then your hardware is dead. You already had low sound.
Get a speaker replacement and google this
Galaxy s4 teardown ifixit.com amd follow the steps to fix your speaker. Hardly takes 10 minutes.
Edit : Wait sound as in no audio in all the speakers?

Hi folks, my wife's S7 Edge kept on freezing then rebooted itself. I tried everything to try and fix it and then performed a factory reset. All seemed fine until Google Play Services needed updating to enable other Google Apps to work. As soon as the updated Google Play Services app tries to install, the phone reboots itself and sometimes goes into a boot loop. I've taken out the memory card, cleared the cache and data in Google Play Services as well.
Can anyone help with this?
The phone is on EE in the UK.
Thanks in advance

Same problem here.. sometimes my s7 edge turns off and back on randomly.. then stuck in a boot loop.. after a while it will boot normally. But that will take like an hour or something..
I did try to remove the sd card ect.. but still the same problem.
Don't know what causes the problem.. thought I had it after a system update a or 2 month ago...
Maybe flashing a new stock Rom with firmware will work?
But I do think know if that voids the warranty or trip the Samsung knox..
Kind Regards,
Toxicz

Thanks for the information jetboss!
Does it matter if I flash a other kind of csc ect to the Galaxy s7 edge? I have read that you are able to flash the csc home if you want to keep your data. And the csc version if you want to completely wipe all the data on the phone..
I have a galaxy s7 edge (sm-g935f) from the Netherlands.
So downloading the latest Netherlands version on Sammobile should be fine?
Kind regards,
Toxicz

well from experience the files from Sammobile are just the pda files i dont think you need to flash the csc unless you're using a rom from the different region, i could be wrong but just use the Netherlands version.

Thanks, I only don't know what version I need to take. There are like 4 options to choose at the country.. is there any app that checks the csc / pda numbers?

This also happened to me twice, but it only did in a SPECIFIC physical location, while I had bluetooth / wifi / location services on (in Rio's Olympics, just outside of the Beach volleyball arena). I had stock rom, ZTO (Brazil) CSC. My phone is the Edge, international variant (G935F).
It got me thinking if it could be something related to a Beacon (BLE) or something like that. It never happened again, ever, only in an exact location, specified above.
