So yeah, hey XDA, first post here
I have got a problem with my SGY, whenever i flash a custom kernel via CWM, I get stuck at splash screen. And when i flash stock kernel via Odin, phone boots normally.
Do you guys know what is the problem?
Kernels I have tried:
1.Kuro - loop at splash
2.Hells-fusion - loop at splash
3.Savie - stuck at splash
Any help would be really appreciated.

Most likely you failed to mount system before flashing the zip or your baseband needs updating
Make sure you goto mounts & storage in cwm and mount system before flashing any zip (will display "unmount system" if it is mounted)
To update baseband flash one of the latest stock roms via odin - see my firmware thread - link it signature

Thanks for your reply
Yeah I did mount everything in CWM, it's probably the baseband thing. I have the latest firmware file for my region (Baltic States). Will it work?
Here is the version of it:
PDA:XXMI1
MODEM:XXMG1
CSC:SEBLL1
KERNEL:XXMI1
Anyways, gonna make a nandroid backup and try to flash the whole stock firmware.
EDIT:Flashed stock with wipe, rooted, flashed savie - no luck.

Yes that's the latest firmware
The only other thing I can think of is that you are using the wrong cwm
Here is my one - Flash it in stock recovery then mount system & flash zip
http://d-h.st/u2m
Also there are different versions of savie - make sure you are using the stock one if on stock rom and not the cm one
I would use hells fusion #50 myself for testing

I dont know what your problem is - do you have any mount scripts for linking sdext
You can format data and wipe cache & delvik cache & see if it boots
Other than that without seeing your phone I cannot offer anything else

Use aroma file manager - Flash it in cwm with system mounted
Goto system/etc/init.d

His kernel is technically banned on XDA due to not being able to provide the sources
All I can say is long as you are the right one - there's one for stock and one for cm7 but I'd just use hells fusion #50

No - your putting your phone back to the exact state it was in when backup was made - wiping things is not necessary and it auto mounts when restoring

Oh dear - you do know to restore a cm7 backup you need to be on an ext4 partition and on percys kernel - if you flashed hyperion you will be savies kernel hence invalid boot image
flash percys kernel
reboot recovery
format system data cache flash (this changes system to ext4 for cm7 use)
advanced restore
restore system & data only

Well you should know - if you correctly flashed cm7 you would know how to flash percys kernel
If you flash roms you know how to format
and advanced recovery is in backup & restore in cwm
if you can't follow those instructions give up now and read the op of cm7 thread properly

Steps already given
To restore cm7 backup
flash percys kernel
reboot recovery
format system data cache
advanced restore
restore system and data only
what links can you possibly need - if you have already flashed cm7 before you know where percy kernel is because you need to be on percys kernel to flash the latest percys cm7 (hint it's on percy's cm7 thread!)

Hey man. Im telling again i made a backup of my stock Rom using Clockworkmod . then i installed hyperion. now i want to go back to stock Rom using that backup. i followed steps you told earlier. it says Error loading boot image. Plz help now i!
Hi, am using now CM7.2 ROM
i want to back to my custom stock based rom ( i have nandroid backup of custom stock rom )
how can i get back using CWM???
use odin first before you restore your backup or use ext4converter of rio.. but i recommend odin for you.
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
No need to use odin
flash hells fusion #50 kernel (it supports ext4)
restart to recovery
restore your nandriod backup
if you get boot error when restore nandriod as you used a different kernel just advanced restore and restore system and data only
If direct restore the backup, then what happen..

Will probably restore but won't boot on percy cm7 kernel
that's why I said flash hells fusion #50 kernel as it supports ext4 system partitions & stock based roms so you can easily switch between hells fusion #50 kernel & stock based roms & percys kernel & cm7 based roms
Need odin download link for ubuntu

There's only two ways I can think of using odin/flash rom on Ubuntu
1- use virtual box and run Windows inside it
2- use Linux commands in terminal (you will have to Google if it's possible)
there is wine but unless there are drivers for ubuntu your phone won't be detected
try reading this as alternative although no guarantees it will work with galaxy y

Hi I'm trying to install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913349
(Yes, it is Galaxy Y Pro Duos, but it doesn't have its own section on xda, therefore posting here)
When I'm in the temporary loaded CWM and trying to install the Kernel it seems fine. The operation takes seconds and finishes with DONE!
But after I reboot the OS looks untouched also when I go into Settings it says Android 2.36 ...
Any ideas?

its a kernel not a rom so nothing will look like its changed
make sure you mount system before you flash
look in about phone in settings - it will tell you what current kernel you are using
you can use apps like cpu spy which will give you kernel info and no frills cpu to change freq governor and i/o
and yes it will always say android 2.3.6 when flashing a kernel as you have not changed the android version
and there is only 2.3.6 gingerbread available for galaxy y (stock based) or 2.3.7 (cm7 based)
kernel 2.6.35.7

the problem was solved and had nothing to do with having a perminant cwm
also you dont need cm7 to have a perminant cwm as its kernel related - you just need a kernel that has it built in - for example hells fusion #50

Hey guys need a help
Just don't slap me with - noob search this that blah blah (i know I'm one still read patiently)
Well i flashed a stock de odexed rom today via (hells kernel) cwm
When wifi was toggled it scanned for a while and then rebooted...
I flashed wifi drivers, re flashed kernel etc. Yet rom rebooted. Back to Evo X and wifi is fine (so i assumed it's a problem in software not my mobile)
I actually tried flashing drivers, setting permissions and re flashed kernel..
I searched on XDA and majority of posts were ICS and JB roms.. Hence I posted this. Thanks in advance
If you're using hells fusion #50 kernel Flash dhd1.1 in cwm with system mounted
if you are using most other stock based kernels flash dhd-stock in cwm with system mounted

if you have rom problems
download any stock based custom rom from dev section and put on root of sd card
go into recovery
flash temp cwm zip if using a kernel that doesn't already have cwm
goto mounts and storage
format system data and cache
mount system data and cache
flash rom zip
restart
at the moment you cannot download stock roms to flash via odin as hotfile has been closed down although I have uploaded a stock rom firmware to dev host which you can find on or near the last page of dokys firmware thread on dev section - it will boot your phone but its European firmware so may not work on your network but at least it will boot your phone if flashing a custom rom with the method above doesn't work

No worries sir, i have Evolution X rom and 2 other in my sd card. Also i have 2 backups.. I just wanted to experiment and probably try to solve the issue on stock. I'm in evo x and everything is working fine.
Thanks a lot for assisting me immediately (pressed the button too )
The thing is i don't have a comp. So i was trying out different stock (cwm flashable) . I will just download one from doky's thread after the website issue has been sorted out

flashing a stock cwm zip doesnt actually give you stock rom as such - think of it more like a custom rom with no changes made to any files
To make it work properly you really in the case of flashing a deodex stock rom via cwm you need to be on the same baseband as the stock rom
To actually flash stock rom and to change basebands you needs to flash the stock rom firmware via odin
