Can`t install a different modem - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys,
I noticed something strange at my phone. It seems like it`s stuck at NG1 modem. If i try to install any other modem it will not boot up at all. Once I flash with Odin NG1 modem everything starts to work again. I tried like 4 modems and each one had the same issue.
Anyone has any idea what`s happening?
cheers,

change odin version and try khizar method....and finally shut down your phone during 10 secs and start directly in dl mode

tried that method already the issue is not that it`s not installing new modem , but my phone will not boot after this operation. Seems like it has a looked option m, or I don`t know. If I install NG1 boots fine , but any other modem doesn`t start at all...

sorry I don't know why...very strange in fact...
but there is no such difference between NG1 or NH1 , even NI3...

Yeah, flashing the modem was a pain in the ass in my case too. I had repeat the whole flashing procedure 4 times until it started working. I read somewhere that one should repeat the steps multiple times if it doesnt work.
I did it as follows:
-Tuned off the phone and took out the battery
-Startet odin 3.09
-Put the battery back into the phone, connected the (original) usb cable and booted into download mode right away
-Flashed the baseband with odin as usual
I literally did the same thing 4 times in a row, and then it worked. Don't ask me why, but give it a try. Maybe it works.

[Q] [Help] Phone only boots into download mode no PC recognition

OK, I will try and recap everything that I've done to the phone in he past couple of days. The short is my phone will not go into recovery mode or boot up. When I try, I get a black screen and the LED is a solid blue (blue light of death (LoD))? Anyway, I can boot into download mode just fine which would lead me to just Odin back to stock and start from scratch, HOWEVER, I have tried 3 PC's and the original USB cable straight out of the box (never used) for my Tab 3 and S4. I have tried several other cables as well. Here's the sequence:
- I was on TriForceROM 5.4 MK2
- Flashed Unknonfofce's NAE Modem via Odin
- Flashed Negalite NAE 4.4.2
- Found out I had no phone
- Flashed SlimKat and still had no phone so flashed back to MK2 Modem via Odin
- Phone worked fine and wanted to go back to TW so back to Negalite
- Phone worked fine except USB storage would not work and PC wouldn't recognize it (no MTP no nothing, not even the 3 button menu in About Phone>Storage)
- Flashed stock MK2 Rom from Unknownforce, still no USB and no PC recognition and Modem and Baseband were gone
- Flashed MK2 Modem through Mobile Odin and it booted to download mode
- I held the power button for 10 seconds after it sat for a while and here I am
All installs were clean wipes through CWM 6.0.4.4. I updated all the drivers on every computer to the latest from Samsung's website from 6/24/2014. I tried the battery pull trick. While my phone was on my Qualcomm and it was set to MTP. I am at a loss. Is there a fix to get my PC to read my phone in download mode? Then I can flash stock. No recovery, no bootup, just download mode and can't be recognized by PC. I've searched for 2 days on many forums and no help. Help?!

Bump???
We need your exact model number. (Found under battery) ie. L720 or L720t. If its the t varient than thats your problem. Youve been flashing regular 720 firmware. Need more information to help. The last android version you've updated to would help too. And i mean stock updates. Ie. Did you root/rom directly after buying no updates? If its new (2014) then it should be 4.4.2..

Odin Freezing at Initialisation Step

Everytime i try to flash a firmware on my smg900h device, odin keeps hanging at the same "initialisation" step. I've been trying for 2 weeks, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try removing your battery before you go into download mode, and then when odin recognizes it, put it back in and start the process

Tried doing that multiple times =s still hangs =/ and after 20-30 minutes of patience i just remove the cable, the phone never gets soft bricked or anything too
Did you also try different USB ports and different cable? You can also try a different PC if you have one

As for the ports, i tried every last one of them =s the only things i haven't tried are a different computer, and a different cable (since i have only one >.<).
I'll try them out and post back with results; thx for your help.
Let me know, hope that solves the problem

Yep, still hangs using a new cable =s at the same "initialisation" step..
I tried flashing a custom recovery, a custom rom, even just the CF rooting module but i always have odin freezing at the same step every single time.
i can't help but ask if i'm doing something wrong here >.<

S4 I9505 not booting after changed sim card tray

Hi!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505, which is not booting anymore after I tried to change the sim card tray. It gets stuck on the Samsung logo at boot. Recovery won't boot either. (says recovery booting but does not boot) I can only get it to download mode. I tried reflashing recovery with heimdall. Is there any way to recover data or fix the phone? I know it could be a hardware fault that's practically impossible to fix. Strange symptoms for a hardware fault though. Just looking for any ideas. It would be nice to at least dump data from it or get recovery booting.
Thank you for your help!
Try a different bootloader.
Or flash another rom with Odin.

Where can I find a bootloader to install? I tried googling a bit but couldn't find a clear answer. Do the modem files also have the bootloader, should I flash a new modem file?
Modem and bootloader are different files.
You can find modems and bootloaders this thread. You may have to scroll through the comments to find what you're looking for.

Tried flashing a new bootloader. Now I get a message that "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing" It still does not boot into TWRP recovery. I tried flashing another version of TWRP, but no difference.
Try this:
Open Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time, flash TWRP, when you see the word "reset" in the status window, remove USB cable, remove battery, wait 5 seconds, replace battery, use button combination to boot into recovery. When the phone starts to boot, release the power button but keep holding the volume up and home.

Which version of odin would you suggest me to use? I tried with 1.85 and that didn't help. I'm starting to think that this might be a hardware fault, perhaps I broke something when tearing off the old sim card tray. Or the new part was faulty and somehow fried my phone. I have a backup from about a month ago. It was stupid not to take a backup before attempting to replace the sim card tray, but I tought it wouldn't be so dangerous.
Its not hardware problem. Hoy have a bootloop and Thats software problem. If you had stock recovery then the cause of bootloop also broken your recovery mode.
You will have to flash a full stock rom (Sam mobile web has them) or search here on xda.
A full stock rom has updated bootloader and módem, also stock recovery built in.

That also means losing all my data if I can't boot recovery beforehand. But perhaps I have to try that.
If you had usb debugging enabled you might be able to pull the data from the phone.
Odin 1.85 seems really old. I mean really old. You should use Odin 3.x. I had success with Odin 3.09 in the past.

Would it be enough if I flashed just stock recovery+modem+bootloader or something like that? I had usb debugging enabled, but since I cant get the system to boot at all it's of no use.
Can I use adb in stock recovery? I think the stock rom won't boot with my current data still on the device. I had cyanogenmod 12.1 installed. Haven't had stock rom in ages.

I prefer Odin 3.07 for all of my flashing needs. I have used it on a note 2, note 3, s4, s3, and s2.
If the flash fails, try different USB cables and different USB ports.

Just flash your firmware from Odin using a PC, I had a similar problem in my tablet, it didn't had download mode either and that worked, try it.
When I connect it to Pc it keeps bootlooping and pc gives sound of connecting then disconnecting of hardware.

Turn off your device, keep your finger in the button until the device is off or pull off the battery, connect it to the PC and flash your firmware through Odin, at that moment I used the 3.70 i think but you can use the latest version it's fine, that should install download mode and the whole firmware if that doesn't work I'm afraid I don't know how else I can help, that's what I did and it worked

You are right I did it the same way and it worked for me too. I actually was thinking the phone was quite dead bur or wasn't, I just flashed the recovery firmware 4.4.4 Russian and if you ask me food the step by step procedure it was just like this:
1. I started the Odin 3.07 and connected my device to see is it was detected or not, my surprise the Odin catch it, and shown added and the port number was 18.
2. I just pulled out the USB cable from my laptop and loaded the BL file only to just flash the bootloader file and see what would happen, I was trying it bcz I was totally disappointed with the device i.e. Grand Prime 530H Duos. I also noticed that my device was not stable even with that black screen it used to restart after almost five minutes in that case. And I knew that in 5 minute I will just be able to flash BL file. The BL file was loaded on the Odin now and I inserted the USB cable again while keeping the vol down button pressed to my laptop when the Odin again found and connected with my device, I didnot take any more time to flash BL file.
3. As soon as i had not flashed all the SW therefore, my device didn't boot properly, and I thought it didn't work but when my device was connected to the computer I just listened the startup tone of the Android 4.4.4. From that moment I knew my device was not dead now so i had to select all four files from the recovery firmware of 4.4.4 and connect the device to odin even there was no sign of download mode, as soon i clicked the Start button i saw many things in the Odin which were good enough to see. after the firmware flashed the device got started.

Is your USB cable original is it working on other devices? And are you using a USB 2.0 port, that is very much necessary, for Odin and some other hardware/software environment applications. And you also must have Samsung USB drivers installed in your PC, you can also try all this process on some other PCs

Hello!
Yes, that USB works with other phones. And even not being the original one, it was working to transfer files before this issue...
It is a USB 2.0 port, and even when I go to "Device Manage" on Windows, it doesn't show any port with an unknown device or something like that...
Thanks!

Sm-p580 frp lock :(!

Hi, I'm using a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with Spen (SM-P580) (gtanotexlwifi)
I was using a custom rom (SamBones) with TRWP installed, and I was messing around in the developer options trying to get a usb device to work, and ended up toggling developer options and rebooting. I think the issue is that after I toggled developer options, I forgot to re-enable OEM Unlock. Once the device rebooted, I was met with something along the lines of "device blocked by frp lock" or something like that. I've been looking online trying to find a fix but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do. I was going to try flashing the stock recovery but I can't seem to find it anywhere for the SM-P580.
Any help would be appreciated...
I honestly don't know what to do at this point and the device is completely useless... I can't find the original firmware/system stuff to flash with odin... and I can't boot into twrp at all...
If someone could link me to the right original stock firmware I can flash with odin or something maybe that will work? I can get into download mode but I can't re-flash twrp or do anything other than stare at a bootloop or get into download mode. This is driving me crazy and I'm scared my device is gone for good!
It's so stupid that this can even happen in the first place. I've been using the rom and twrp without issue from the day I bought it a few weeks ago, and now because of one small mistake in settings, the entire device is completely soft bricked and I can't even find the right firmware to flash to it to fix it.... why samsung, why...
I was looking at the firmwares available on sammobile, but the US isn't listed for countries so I don't know which one I should download if any....
I've been freaking out in a panic for the last two hours or so. I'm fine with installing stock everything and then just redoing all of the custom recovery/system flashing afterwards, data loss isn't too big of a deal to me as I've had to wipe it a few times over the last week while fixing/doing stuff. I'm worried my nearly $300 device is going to just become a brick which is unthinkable. I love this tablet and use it for so much.
Please help

Are you sure? It seems weird that they would have different versions for different countries if there wasn't a difference.... I'm just worried I'm going to break something if I don't install the right firmware...
Edit: I found the "USA" version on other sites but their download times are saying things like 16 hours. Though I think Cellular South (XAR) is the USA version on sammobile as the same firmware shows up as USA (XAR) on the other two sites. Going to download it and hope it works, but just putting this here in-case someone else is in the same boat...

So one additional question... I'm waiting for the firmware to download, and the tablet is off, and has been off for the last 10 minutes or so.. and it seems to be overheating where it hurts to touch the screen in the top left corner... Is this normal? Is it trying to do something while it's off? Never had a device do either of these things... I swear if the battery explodes or something when the download completes I'm just going to scream qq
you can try to hold the vol - power and home button to force turn of the device. and try to turn of the light in the room. Maybe the phone is on but the screen is black then you can only see the backlight of the display when its dark

Maybe, firmware finished download. One last question before I try to flash this, there seems to be multiple tar.md5 files in the archive samfirm downloaded, which one should I flash or does it not matter?
Edit: Nevermind ignore me I feel dumb, I just realized they match up with Odin's options
in odin select the ap file in ap
the bl file in bl
and csc in csc ( the difference in these two files are that it is possible to keep your user data like pictures when you flash the home csc file instead of csc only)

Well... I flashed it and I think the device might be completely bricked now.... it installed everything, started up sortof and said installing system update, then when that was done it it showed the samsung logo and the backlight started turning on and off rapidly and it kept reconnecting and disconnecting from the laptop... now I don't think I can even turn it on....
Now when I boot into download mode, it stays on for a few seconds then starts flashing and turns off completely...

When I enter download mode, it stays on for a few seconds, then the backlight flashes a little and the device turns off like it's losing power or something. Download mode was at least working before the flash....
It seems like it won't even turn on unless it's plugged in now. However, when I plugged it in after letting it sit for a minute, now it seems it's telling me it's charging and the battery is at 0%, but I know it should be at least at around 50% and was plugged into the laptop the entire time I was researching online so it shouldn't be dead. Maybe it's not reading the battery level correctly or something? It didn't do this till after it finished the "installing updates" screen. Also just noticed the flash turned itself on even though the device is "off"???
Also, I tried samsung switch but it said the device wasn't supported...
That's strange. I had the same issue like you today but I donwload the latest German firmware from sammobile and flashed it via Odin. It was working.
Maybe your battery was low? You said that it got hot. It won't charge when flashing via USB. Also it charge veeeery slow over USB .... You should try to charge it a bit and try to flash only the AP (firmware) files with Odin. Also use Odin the newest Odin version.
Btw. You should use a the NEWEST version of your country. It's possible that you flash an older one over your current system that could cause problems because of downgrade bootloader.

Thanks for your help. Surprisingly samsung said they might be able to fix it as I had a moment where I just gave up an contacted them to see if there was anything that could be done. Sent it out to them, but if they can't do anything or don't do anything (because custom firmware should void the warranty and all that) I'll have to try just letting it charge longer. Only issue was that while it was charging, it turned on the flash and became very hot very fast so I would need to leave it in front of an airconditioner vent or something. Next time around I'm going to have to make sure I take a full backup of the stock recovery and system somehow...
