IMHO the hardware is indeed not optimized for it, and it keeps the screen digitizer completely on all the time.
I think that it also won't work perfectly like it does in the OPO unless you set a wakelock, which really drains the battery. Better just don't use it.
CM11 has a DT2S. Im not sure about DT2W.

hi, thanks for the answer.
i tried ktoonsez kernel with carbon rom and dt2w seems to work fine actually
don't know about battery yet, will test.
problem is, that as soon as i flash ktoonsez's kernel, i loose ril no line at all..

Well nobody ever tried DT2W for the i9500 so I dont know much about the smooth functioning part.
Battery part yes. Check the wakelocks. It is surely something to do with either the proximity sensor (dr.ketan from note2 has that) or the screen digitizer.
In either cases there will be a battery drain. Minimal or adverse. Not known.

Update to KitKat or Not?

After seeing many different comments. I wanted to get a general idea on whether to update LG G2 to 4.4.2 Kitkat or stay with the 4.2.2 JellyBean version?
I mostly think about the OFFICIAL Kitkat release, NON-ROOTED.
I have seen people talking about battery and bluetooth battery drain problems on the new update... So which one is better?
Thanks.
Got better for me when I updated, and or was pretty dang good before

For me is KK better and faster yes have some problems with battery drain and bluetooth but if you flash any custom rom you resolve this problem i use custom rom and custom kernel and i not have this problem and i not use bluetooth everyday so my battery is pretty good so update to KK and be happy
yes!
Absolutely update to Kit Kat... ONCE ROOTED
Anyone using Tmobile version with KK rooted? Does wifi calling feature work?

Kitkat it is. It is the most updated and it is there for a reason: to fix Jelly bean's flaws. :fingers-crossed:
If you HAVE ROOT or NOT HAVE anyway update to Kitkat because is better

Oh no. One of the reasons why i ditched my nexus 4 for lg g2 is because nexus 4 had bluetooth connection issues with my car. Looks like it has to do with google 4.3 and 4.4+ roms no matter what phone you have. I have heard only sense and touchwiz didnt have this issue in KK. As i drive a lot, i need this feature. Looks like 4.4.3 fixes bluetooth - hope we get it for lg g2.
Other than that only things you will loose going to KK is
flash wont work with stock browser even if you use hacked flash player - works with dolphin+jetpack though.
stock browser inverted rendering wont work - dolphin night mode is great though.
Battery drain difference between the versions are minimal. I tried both in my nexus 4. If you experience a drain, it might be due to play services. some versions keep the location services running even if you turn off the location. I use appops to turn it off and i get good battery in KK.
What kind of issue you have with bluetooth? Not connecting? or not auto connecting with paired devices?
Edit: Bluetooth working fine for me with kitkat stock. Same car with which i had problems with nexus 4, works with lg g2.

it's the other way around, actually. it introduced endless amount of "flaws" to the almost perfect LG's JB builds.

I'm really thinking of going back to JB. Battery was heaven on there. I used to go 30 minutes SOT before it dropped to 99%. Now, after 12 minutes it drops. Battery life is not bad but once you taste batter, well, who doesn't want to stay at better. I just underclocked to 1.5Ghz for the day to see battery usage. First time underclocked with any device.

Hey guys, ive tested both. I would say battery on JB is better but overall speed is improved in KK (a least it feels like that).. so it just depends on your preferences..
(But i like the statusbar a looot more in KK)
Battery and speed is better for me on Kitkat.

Some help needed :/ Anyone ?

So I recently brought up a old nexus 4, the only problem in it is that it has some digitizer issues because of which the below 55px are dead that is the nav keys are dead.
.
So there are many alternatives for it like Pie controls but the one I liked The most is Mipop(you can google it up)
.
So the problem is that it is a MiUi Rom feature, is there any way I can use it up on other roms
Any help?
Also as I am new can someone suggest me some light roms and a Good Kernel for better BATTERY LIFE.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks
MiPop for Nexus 4. Just install the apk. Your welcome
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/space-screen-mipop-navigation-t2467965
As for your second question: it is common knowledge that a kernel, a rom, a theme doesnt affect your batterie life much. Of course if you overclock your CPU/GPU it will drain your batterie much more than stock frequencies. It is your usage bahavior, your apps running in the background, your widget that needs hourly updates, your signal strengths...
But I can recommend you matr1x kernel though. I have tested many, many kernels and I am most satisfied with this one. It has not too much features, but also you dont need them. Try it out
And maybe you should do a factory reset. Your problem may be solved then

I just tested this .apk and it is shewt. It isnt up to date anymore and probably doesnt work with the latest android version, so I dont recommend this. I am sorry, I should have tested it before posting it to you. My bad. Why dont you use something like PIE control? I know, you dont like it, but there isnt much alternative for you.
And what about this one? Try this out and report back.

Kernels?

I've been searching all day and haven't found a lollipop kernel that isn't more than a slightly modified stock kernel. Am I just blind or are there pretty much only pre-lollipop kernels?

I've been looking too and I don't think there are any, bar Khaon's. I'm not sure if this is f2fs only, not read into too much. However, I'm using rastapop rom and its working great, pretty much stock but with a few select features, which happened to be just what I was looking for.

Khaon's kernel isn't just for f2fs, I'm using it right now on Dirty Unicorns ROM. It has a few governors, schedulers, OC/UV. It has been working great for me so far.

I just installed Purity ROM on my N10. Was using Franco Kernel before (planned to stay on KitKat) but it was buggy as hell and I tried to reach out to him multiple times, via here and G+ but he never cared to reply back. So glad I paid for it.
I'm using the stock kernel installed with Purity. You think the above Kernel would have any issues with the ROM?
I looked at his Gdrive folder here and he has two different ones. Using the tablet because I'm traveling I can't see the whole filename.
Which one should I choose?
Thanks.

I am on the 2/17 kernel right now, I'm not entirely sure what the differences between the two kernels he has up there are. I think once might allow sabermod which I think was recently included in his ROM, not entirely sure though.

Thanks. Wanted to make sure since I'm traveling and if I throw a boot loop, I won't have any way to recovery from it.
Are you using some 3rd party app for the O/C - kernel settings etc or does he have a specific app for kernel management?

He doesn't have any personal kernel management software but Aero Kernel, SetCPU or something along those lines should do the job.

I am using now kernel audiutor. It is very good !! Everything is supported should give a try.
If the man himself recommends a certain kernel management program, chances are I'm going to try that one out.
Thanks, just flashed your Kernel on my N10 running Purity ROM. So far, no boot-loop. Looking forward to it.
Do you have any recommended settings for the N10 + your Kernel?

Hello,
basically, stock kernel performs also well, but I don't like the default "tunnables".
Governor : you can stick with interactive and default values I made : I changed touch boost to be kernel side and the touchboost duration is 200 ms, however, you can decrease it to 100ms(that's i am using).(default value is 500ms)
io scheduler: you can switch from BFQ to fiops or ZEN. The io scheduler handles who is reading or writing to the disk. If you mainly multitasking(torrents, music, beo<insg, etc at the same time) bfq is good, otherwise you can switch to fiops or zen
Ofc undervolting: our device is set up with high voltage, basicaly I can reduce 100~150mV but this DOES NOT APPLY to everyone, you have to test yourself your own chip to figure out which voltage is required to have it stable.

I don't know if its just MY device or some other issue. I'm running Purity ROM and after flashing your kernel I can actually watch my battery drain.
Its been 47 minutes and I'm already down to 89%. At this rate it will be dead in 3 hours +/-. Only using Wifi and screen is set to lowest brightness setting. No gaming, just using Boat Browser and sending Hangout messages.
I'm using Greenify to kill any apps in the background and I've used SDMaid to stop any unnecessary apps from running on startup.
Not sure what the issue is or if you even want to be bothered trying to diagnose? Not meant as a slight to you or your work at all just don't know if this is just a issue with mine or others are having the same problems?
I've already let the device die and recharge a few times thinking it was the battery stats being reported incorrectly but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Any suggestions? Ideas?
Thanks.

Hm there are out there many apps to check battery drains and what process consumes energy.
I dont know much of that, but I use betterbatterystats, I know- from screen I saw- there are more complete software, yes I would bother trying to fix anything broken as long as I am given at least the minimum information

How is M so far and what differentiates the M ROMS?

Hey there
I'm about to flash a 6.0/M Rom on my Nexus 4 but first I'd like to hear from you how it is so far when it comes to battery life etc?
From what I've read everything seems to work?
Also there are quite a few roms already and I don't know what do load: Frank, Minimal OS, "Fake Nexus Rom"(?), Oneofakind?
Would any AOSP based Lollipop Kernel work? Oh and is there a M Rom that supports to use the volume rocker to change music? I guess Xposed isn't working yet?
Thanks in advance!
In this moment i am using Cataclysm ROM with HellsCore. Cataclysm works fine and it is very fast but sometimes there are some lags and whith HellsCore i have very battery life!! In this rom there is volume rocker and a lot of features... Sorry but i didn't try other M rom!
Thanks so far
I think you missed a word there. You have very ..battery life?
I've used Frank, Unofficial Chroma, Pure AOSP (I think this one is already dead) and Cataclysm . They all are based on AOSP with some added features, at this moment the one with more options/features by far is Cataclysm, Chroma have the menu of features but they are not implemented, just like 8 of them or something like that. Performance is good in all of them, most of the time just like lollipop, and yes there is some lag here an there from time to time but is not the end of the world. Battery life is something else, i am amused, im getting like an extra hour of SO and almost flat lines when not using the phone, i also have Greenify 2.7.1 installed, but i had it on Lollipop and Battery was meh, so it has to be Android M new battery management and stuff. Really Good battery life. Be aware, the is a AOSP bug related to the flashlight, if you turn on your torch from quick settings doesnt matter if you turn in off there is a wakelock that will keep your phone awake until your bateery drains or you fire up the flash with your camera or reboot. Is present in all ROMs at this time.
My current setup:
Cataclysm 11 Oct + 17 oct delta + 20Oct delta (In that Order, they are little zips you have to flash on top of the already installed rom, like an OTA of some sort).
HellsCore kernel b84-M (Has double tap to wake, youll need kernel adiutor to enable it and also tweak the kernel if you wish to - My kernel setup has no weird ****, it works out of the box, all stock, ondemand governor).
Extras:
Double Tap on Statusbar to Sleep Enabler for Android M MOD (Only for AOSP Roms)
New Adreno Drivers (October 2015)
I guess both will be added to roms eventually, but at the moment there not. Only Franks rom has the new adreno driver.
Sorry for my english.
Awesome that was detailed thank you! Hm the flashlight bug is bad .. I use it a lot. Maybe I will wait for a fix then
I'm thinking about trying http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/fake-nexus-rom-nexus-4-t3230268
It claims that torch bug is fixed and other bonuses like Camera can launch via double tap power key, adreno drivers, and aldy kernel.
That sounds pretty good as well. Btw are there any informations about xposed and Marshmallow? It took some time for Lollipop but maybe the differences now aren't as big?

On touch wiz everything works including fingerprint. Just install duki kernel and disable dvfs through firefds xposed module to have maximum performance possible. Thats the best rom without a doubt.
I am using it right now and i get 57-58k on antutu. And battery life is almost 5hrs of Screen on time with moderate usage.
