[Q] Custom Boot Animation? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wanted to see if anyone found a flashable custom boot animation mod for KitKat 4.4.4. I tried a couple that used to work on KitKat 4.4.2 from a couple of other custom ROMs, but no joy, they don't seem enable the customer boot animations through application like "Boot Animations" from the play store.

[Q] Problems with Rom toolbox CRASH HELPPP!!!

So i rooted my galaxy s4 with motochopper and everything seems to be working fine, however when i go to rom toolbox pro itll say "we detected that your rom is not deodexed" and when i go to the interface section...the only thing i can change are fonts...when i go to download any themes or status bar icons it goes to install and then a little window pops up and says "Unfortunately samsung link has stopped working" and more windows will pop up says the same thing but google play store, and other things...then sometimes itll say system process has stopped working and after i clicked ok on them all i click reboot from downloading the theme and thats it but the theme or status bar icons never change...
PLEASE HELPPP ive already tried reinstalling motochopper idk if i wanna try over-writing motochopper with a different rooting option...if i can please let me know...
Dude those themes and status bar icons are only for cm based roms. Romtoolbox pro is good for everything else other than what you have tried to do. Unless on cm/aosp.
ATT S4 Rooted. Beastin.
4.2.2

You can't download a custom recovery until we are able to get the bootloader unlocked. You need to read the development threads a little - particularly the one about Bootloader unlocked so you can learn about the challenge of getting the bootloader unlocked and what work has been done so far. Until the unlock tool has been released, there isn't much yuo can do. You really should not be messing around those tools on Rom Tool Box until you have until you have a custom revcovery you can use to create a back up and then mess around the way you are.
Good Luck - if I were you - I wouldn't try that stuff anymore until the bootloader unlock is out - probably towards the end of the month (hopefully) or you are going to brick your phone. (if you do end up brkcking the phone or screwiing it up real bad - you can use Samsung Kies to return to full stock - or you can download the original firmware and flash it with Odin. You can find that too in the develpment thread - just make sure you choose the right Firmware to flash - I beleive youi will find here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261573
I hope this helps.

Here's my advice...I recommend you do a little research about rooting, modding, and romming before you do anything else. This is for your benefit and only yours since most people will tend to just ignore helping you if you screw up from not reading THOROUGHLY first. You will screw your phone up to the point where you have an expensive paper weight if you do not know what you are doing.

[Q] Noob Question - About Kitkat

Hello guys, sorry to take your time reading this but I really got confused.
I see many posts of people that succcessfully ported Kitkat from Nexus 5 to Nexus 4.
Also, saw people that could install Stock 4.4 Kit kat Rom by flashing binaries and factory images. (And I am too noob for that).
So, my point is, didn't anyone was capable to get stock by flashing binaries and etc and them, turn the rom available for download for everyone?
I think if it was possible, it would reduce A LOT the threads over here.
it is available for download silly.
you have aosp and the factory img. factory img you flash via fastboot, and there are plenty of 4.4 aosp builds that you can flash via your recovery. just because someone flashes the factory img via fastboot onto their phone, does NM ot mean that they can provide to you whats on their phone as a zip. it has to be compiled as a rom for you to flash. spend some of your time going through the dev and original dev forums, find yourself a eom to flash.

You download the deodexed official 4.4 kitkat rom here or check out 4.4 custom roms in the development forum.

I think that I will wait for the OTA, I am too much noob to do those stuffs and devices in Brazil are really expensive to get bricked.
Also, I hear that the stock version for N4 (4.4 kit kat) is apparently waaay too similar to 4.3, does not brings transparent nav bars and notifications or white toogles. Also does not bring google experience of google now. Is that truth?
I was using google launcher for N5 and that would be great if I do not have to select always the launcher... everytime I select "always use this laucher", my device keeps me asking about what launcher would I like to use.

It is true that you don't get transparency on the Nexus 4 with Android 4.4 because it still uses (pretty much) the same launcher as for Android 4.3. You can, however, install the GEL as a replacement launcher and make it your default launcher. That will enable transparency and the full GEL experience with Google Now as the far left panel. You can find the instructions here:

Hey, tks for that.
But this will only be enabled (transp. bar and etc) with android 4.4 or android 4.3 as well?
Is there any way to impeach that the stock launcher keeps appearing for me?

The transparency only works with android 4.4. You might be able to get it on android 4.3 using the nova launcher but I haven't tested it so I can't personally guarantee.
You should be able to select the default launcher and the system should keep it like that. Just make sure you press the "Always" button before selecting your option.

Request, Stock Sprint Bootanimation

Hello, I am new to posting on this site but I have been using it for years, since the first Galaxy. Any way recently I rooted and installed the sock(ish) v5 custom ROM in my S4 (by the way I activated Knox) and my phone runs awesome. The thing is that I like the Sprint boot animation and since the new kernel wont read .qmg my animations have to be .zip. Is there a way to compile the qmg or somehow make the Sprint animation in a .zip so I can use it. I've been searching the web for days and nothing. I found one on XDA but it wont work, is like 53 MB I dont think is right, every time I tried to flash it my phone get stuck on boot. Any way thank's for your help.
Bump,,,,,, Really, no one????? I'm really interested in having the bootanimation.

I'm also interested in this. I'm running stockish v3. I need to take my s4 into best buy because the USB port stopped charging. Everything else works fine on the phone but when they power my phone on and off I don't want them to see the custom boot screen and get suspicious. I don't know how much they care about rooted phones but I'd rather be safe.

CM11 Rom/Verizon S5/Not Booting

Hello everyone, I tried searching the forum for a solution but have not found any. I'm in a little predicament and I need some help!
Summary: I recently rooted my Verizon S5 using Towelroot and have safestrap installed. I am trying to install CM11 Rom and so far it hasn't been working for me. Everyone I boot up the rom for the first time I get the Samsung S5 boot screen and it is just black. Vibrates twice, and then loops back to the samsung boot screen.
Phone: Verizon Samsung S5 (G900V)
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband: ANI2, Kernel 3.4.0
Rooted with Towelroot, with safestrap 3.75 installed for verizon.
So far this is the procedure I have tried to install CM11:
1. Boot into recovery via safestrap.
2. Activate my ROM SLOT that I have created for custom ROM's.
3. Do a wipe (Cache, Data, Dalvik) and I have also tried wiping System also prior to installing CM11.
4. Flashing CM11 (downloaded from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...t/rom-cyanogenmod-11-0-android-4-4-4-t2864288) via buildbot mirror. I downloaded the latest release named: cm-11-20141104-UNOFFICIAL-kltevzw
5. After, flashing GAPPS also downloaded from the thread above for CM11.
6. They both successfully flash and I reboot the phone. (And yes I have tried wiping after flashing these two and rebooting but it still doesn't work)
7. The phone reboots, I see the Samsung S5 boot screen, then the splash screen for Safestrap, and then the screen goes black. The phone vibrates twice and then loops back to the Samsung S5 boot screen.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you so much!
If your phone isn't a Dev Edition it will not work. CM Roms use AOSP and you can't run those or custom kernels on a retail edition phone.

Since you're using SafeStrap, I'm assuming you have a retail edition Verizon S5 (non-developer edition).
1. Retail cannot use CM ROMs. Ever.
2. Safestrap does not flash any partitions other than cache, data, and system. Meaning even if you had a DevEd with safestrap, it would never flash a kernel.

Thank you for the quick replies, and also for clarifying. So would it be possible to run a custom ROM on a retail edition phone? What possibilities are possible (in terms of customization, root options, etc) for a retail edition phone?
Do XPOSED Framework Modules on retail verizon versions?

That's up to you depending on what you're looking for. The most customizable, tough, is Alliance. Each ROM offers the devs own take on "custom rom". Just gotta find one you want to use.

Hey, I blame Samsung for Knox amd other bloat/crap, but in honesty they are a company that makes these phones for crowds that buy them for the crap they put on them. BIG RED the world fattest *****iest carrier (excuse the language) makes me extremely... Angry... For lack of other words... They are CDMA, bootlock their phones, slow updates down, and charge a ****ton for it! They are bad. Just bad. Fix that crap Verizon, just fix it. No more begging for you to stop torturing me, I swear another slip up and I quit! TMobile here I come, also Ludeawaking, I hope you get the rights from beans and good luck, and Elliwigily (sorry i forgot how to spell you name :| ) great debloat, still is a great daily driver! This requires a developer to do a lot of modifications and make custom splash screens.
These devices are having very few custom ROMS and kernels.... so a custom boot splash is a very far off thing to be honest.
If you need the boot splash so eagerly then for now you will have to try developing it yourself. Cheers

What logo are you speaking about?. The bootloader logo (Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 Powered by android)? or the animation with samsung logo?
For the first one, I opened a thread a few weeks ago without any response:
