Hi, everyone
I have root right on Nexus4 with "Nexus 5 Experience - CM11 Based" rom (no PIE, no LTE, stock kernel) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...kernel-nexus-5-experience-cm11-based-t2545838) and handy soft keys software installed. After I update rom to ver. 9.3 "ok, google" feature is power off! Mic icon turned empty and I can`t start search by voice without touching. When I power off handy soft service, feature is turned on. I ask soft developer about it and get "the app is developed by using Android standard Accessibility API and it works perfect with other Nexus 4 users". I decided to record video by the phone and found that when I start record "ok,google" feature is power off (mic is empty). So I ask your help with this issue. Thanks.

Somehow I managed to install MS Voice Command and is working OK.
But, one thing I cannot manage to solve, is using the voice dial button while the cover is closed. It doesn't do anything. It has to be open or the screen facing upwards.
Is there a solution or perhaps not?
Let's say you dialed. How would you talk to the person?
I am having the same problem.. it locks the buttons when lid is closed and there seems to be no way to unlock them... and, you can talk with the lid closed, for the guy who asked.
settings, buttons, lock. you can choose not lock the buttons when the device is closed
I am also suffering te same problem with voice command.
richard
they are all unlock, but still, voice command doesn't activate-
There has to be a way to trick the registry... but I'm no expert at all.
It's on my list of things to look at tonight.
I'll get to it when I've finished my real VGA hack.
Great! We'll be all awaiting your news.
as far as i know then the cpu is not active and normal programs are not running when ones device is turned off
so even if you unlock the buttons voice commander would not respond unless pressing the button wakes up the pda
Pressing the button does wake the device though. This is the bizarre thing.
If the device is off in tablet mode, it works fine.
If the device is off in closed mode, it doesn't work.
Pressing the button in closed mode produced the bing-bong sound indicating the VC is ready to accept commands but nothing happens therafter.
Was there ever a solutio found to this problem???
Afraid not.
I'd love to find a solution to this too. I am convinced it is possible, because incoming calls do activate Voice Command with the XDA closed (it tells me who is calling), and the external buttons do wake the XDA when it is open.
But even though I have "do not lock buttons" selected, none of the external buttons do anything when the unit is closed.
I'd be very, very grateful if anyone could come up with a solution to this.
If you switch off in toggle mode then the device will respond after pressing the VC button. But if you have set pda up to close after a certain amount of inactivity, it will stop responding after that period of time expires.
So the solution is concealed under the way you switch off the device. I think if we found a way to switch off in toggle mode instead of suspending when pressing the on/off button, the we would found the solution. However, battery issues may come up...
Hi Guys,
I know many A500 users have had problems with the power switch. I've managed to repair mine with glue but I don't want to continue using it unless I have to.
Spent all night looking for a way of using the volume buttons to wake the A500 but there's really not many options.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teliapp.powervolume
This is the only app I've found, it works flawlessly on 4.0.3 Stock and 4.4.2 OmniROM! Though I can't comment on battery life yet, it does run a background process constantly as a solution so it's entirely ideal.
I have tried editing the hard keys within the system but even with the volume keys assigned to 'wake', nothing happens? This was the case on 3 different ROMs. More information detailed here:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...enable-volume-rockers-buttons-wake-phone.html
I'm wondering if there's something in the A500 setup that ignores hard keys once it's locked.
There is also a standard feature in 4.4.2 to enable 'Wake on button press', however this option doesn't save/work on the 4.4.2 OmniROM.
Does anybody know how to get the hard keys remapped properly?
That app might be your best bet. To wake with the volume button you will need special custom kernel and would require a wake-lock. And the wake-lock will drain battery.
Hi all,
since I am new in this forum I would appreciate if I am in the wrong section to raise my issues, please let me know and I will accordingly move my post. Thanks.
Following issues I face with my 2 month old UMI Zero.
1. can not make regular phone calls via speaker. my partner can listen, myself cannot hear a word. fact headset icon shows in the very top menue line, speaking via headset works fine but does not make life easy.
serveral factory resets done, updates etc. nothing worked.
2. yesterday, the next issues occured out of nothing. my touch buttons do not operate anymore at all. no function behind except the blue lights. Need to reboot if I would like to switch apps/functions.
Anyone who can help me to solve my problem or experienced same issue(s).
Thank you.
Best
StadenKarl
Same issue with buttons with my umi zero
My buttons stopped working as well all at once, considered as contact problem until one day they returned to respond unexpectedly.
After working fine for a while stopped responding once again.
Thinking it's might be software issue, I've installed a new rom material V 3.0 lollipop inspired 4.4 kitkat provided by umi Root joy tool. It didn't help, however, regardless to update the buttons now are lightened but not stable responsive therfore still useless.
For now used this post to enable soft keys: search Google for "enable-soft-keys-navigation-bar-android-phone"
Another free app which I found useful is called My home Button, can be downloaded from play store.
Hopefully a solution will be found soon
The only solution is to dissasemble the smartphone and connect properly the hardware components, you can dissassemble your phone with an hot air gun
Same issue and possible solution
Come on! Are u kidding?
My buttons stopped working yesterday but with a reboot everything was fine again. Until now. No signal from the buttons, light nor fucntion. I'll try flashing it and, if not, i will have to dissasemble and check the hardware.
If this doesn't work I'm thinking about downloading an xposed module that allows you to remap the phisycal buttons. I'll try remapping home, back and settings buttons into the power and volume ones. Let's see if it works.
First of all sorry for my bad english ( I'm french). For the problem with your touch bouton you can also use gravity box ! With this app you can enable the navigation bar and you gonna have touch bouton like the nexus phones. If you don't know how to do that you can ask me question in a next post.
Dear All,
Just want o let you know that after being hesitant for so long, I finally disassembled my Umi Zero and guess what? The back camera connector was not connected, and the touch button + speaker connector at the bottom was also not connected! I just connected them back, put the battery back, and touch buttons + mic were working fine. Tested with voice recorder, playing audio, and also few calls.
Disappointed though by the component assembly....most of the screws were very lose and one even came out without unscrewing. Also, the screws are of different sizes, so please please please take note where each screw goes (What I did is get an A4 paper, made a sketch of he phone outline, and placed the screws on each area where I removed them from).
Note : Most likely you will break the back glass cover so you might as well place an order on Aliexpress before you disassemble it. It is possible to remove it without breaking with lots of extra caution though.
No sound and no soft keys
I had the same problem with my daughters Umi Zero.
I found a work round for the buttons:
-temporarily install an app which emulates the keys so you can navigate. eg Handy Soft Keys from the Playstore
-enable in settings/accessibility
-reboot
-need to be rooted
-install file manager, eg ES file explorer
-in ES tools, activate Root Explorer
-navigate to local/device/system/build.prop
-drop to end, leave a couple of lines space then edit by adding: qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
-save and reboot
You have soft keys
Uninstall emulator app
Backup etc before you start
Haven't fixed the sound yet: nothing from the speaker, phone and headphone jack doesn't work.
Bluetooth does work.
Hi,
stock ROM, newset available 6.0.1 (G900FXXS1CQBW / G900FXEO1CPJ1 / G900FXXS1CQAV).
Situation:
- Device is paired with bluetooth hands free.
- Smart Lock set to unlock for above hands free.
- When pressing button on hands free to send command to smartphone it works. OK Google is listening and responding.
Problem:
- Screen not wake up when it receives bluetooth command. It's still black. Even is device is unlocked and responding.
I tried to add Google to Tasker to wake up screen (using Secure Settings) but it is not working as it should. I need to enter to some application (like navigation, sms, not OK Google first screen possible) - not possible to see what I'm talking to. On Sony Xperia, few Huaweis works OK - screen wakes up.
Can you guys help me? Any suggestions?
I purchased my S8 directly from T-Mobile today. So when I left the store and started using it more, I realized that it had a few bugs. Before and after the OTA(that was immediately found on my phone to download and install), and even after a factory reset.
First I'm experiencing that the Android/Google pre installed notepad or memo, is completely missing from the device. Completely searching the phone, and even going into the Android OS application settings. Also, even having Samsung do a remote screen share via technical support on the phone, and the Tutor app. Even they couldn't even find it.
Second I'm the type of person that doesn't like any type of vibration on my phone. So I turn off all the vibration in the Android OS settings, even for calls. But for some reason the touch screen home button has some type of forced/haptic vibrate. This happens on any screen, including when the screen is off and I'm clicking the touch screen home button to wake up to screen to use the device. Is this even normal, for only the touch screen home button to make some type of vibration(more specifically, some type of forced/haptic vibrate), when you have all the vibration settings that can be turned on and off in the Android OS settings completely turned off?
Then lastly, I'm having a problem with Google Voice to Text, and Bixby voice to text. What happens is, if I turn off Bixby voice to text in the Android OS settings. So I can use Google Voice to Text. But every few minutes, Bixby turns itself on, and is automatically the default voice to text. Then when I go into the Android OS settings, it appears that the circle turns blue indicating that it was on period when I clearly turned Bixby Voice to Text off in the Android OS settings.
What should I do? Should I return the device and get a replacement immediately. I got it from my carrier this morning at there corporate store. They had a bunch in stock, and when I was there UPS even delived more to the store. I even contacted Samsung, all they can tell me was to send my phone in and leave my phone there for a minimum of two weeks and remain completely with out a phone. Which is absurd, after purchasing a new phone and only owning the device 3-4 hours maximum!
Just an update, I went back to T-mobile, after speaking to booth Samsung and T-mobile and exchanged my S8. But still the problems persist on the new exchanged S8. Also, this time around it has gotten worst, because this time around I was unable to even Smart Switch the Memo files. Because on my old Galaxy I was at least able to transfer my Android/Google memos to the 1st S8. But from the returned S8 to the new exchanged S8, I was unable to do so. It was not even an option at all(greyed out or selectable)
I don't think any of these are problems? First it's Samsung notes that is presinstalled second just download a note app. Second the home button has its own vibration setting and their are apps to further customize, I have mine on a super short vibration and changed navigation keys to stay perma black even when keyboard open with an app. Lastly the bixby voice is disabled until they fix it. By default the phone uses Samsung voice but you can enable google voice or get another keyboard. Also don't forget Android is customizable but may have to use an app for it.
I have blacked out my phone, use navbar apps, and use google keyboard.
