[Q] Second Mic not working - advice please - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi all,
Problem:
The mic on top near the headphone jack that is used for noise cancellation, input while using speakerphone, and voice command isn't working. Headphone jack works though.
Solutions attempted:
I thought it was software related so I stated by reflashing Gapps, reflashing the rom, reflashing recovery. Since non of these worked, I decided to replace the mic itself. The new mic is still not working even though the headphone jack is.
Any advice/possible soluions will be appreciated.
Thanks

flash back to stock firmware and see if the issue still persists

Earphones with mic dont work...

I just bought some M9Ps with a built in mic, and they don't even work with this phone. You have to hold the mic button to get clear sound, and when trying to make a call it automatically ends unless you hold the mic button the whole way. Then the person can't even hear you..
Is there a fix to this? I REALLY don't like the default headphones.
There is no fix. You could have known about this issue if you read the accessoires board, because the problem has been documented there.
I bought the M9P's too by the way. I returned them for the regular M9's.
well so what does that mean?
that it wont work?
well i flashed back to di18 and works perfectly wit no issues mic works n so do the headphones onthe headset
now when im in dk28 headphones work but not the mic :/
something ****ed up in the kernel?
Well look on the bright side. You can speak into the phone's mouthpiece even though your earphone is plugged in. =D
I am having the same problem, when you say flashed back to di18 what do you mean? Is that a certain custom rom? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
+1 on this, skullcandy holua's does the same thing, works great on my mw600 but not when plugged directly into the phone. What are you flashing back to fix?
daang i have the same problem with my skullcandy buds Is it because I am on cm 6 + 2.2?

[Q] Can't use headphones with inline mic

Hey,
for some reason, I can't use the microphone on any earphone/headphones with an inline mic. The audio output is fine, I can hear the sounds through my earphones. The mic, however, does not work. The main play/pause button on my earphones work as well, but the volume buttons don't.
Weird thing is, even the earphones that come with the G2 does not work, this is obviously a software problem. Is there a known fix or is there an app or something I can download to fix this problem?
Some specific problems:
sometimes when I am calling someone and I use my headphones, the mic on the phone stop working. I'm assuming the phone detects that an earphone with a inline mic is plugged in, thus turning off the one on the phone, but obviously this just ends up with them not being able to hear me at all.
In the sound recorder(where I have been checking whether the mics were working or not), the recorder doesn't detect my mic on the earphones, but it "hears" everytime I press a button on the inline mic which is interesting.
Hopefully someone has gotten this to work. I'm running CM 6.1, the specific earphones I'm trying to get working is skullcandy 50/50s (which is meant for iphone, but i've heard that iphone earphones work too). Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.
That's been an issue for some people. My old wired headset that came with my Cliq does the same thing - audio mic is bypassed and mic on the phone is used instead.
The wired headset that came with the G2 works fine for me though. Tested it every which way with my wife on the phone and always got audio with the headset mic.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
skeptical, I tried using the one that came with the G2 again, and magically it worked. I know that the whole audio/mic thing is still buggy, I probably tested it before when it was acting up. Looks like a lot of people are having success with skullcandy's FMJs so I think i'll go try them out.
I had a similar issue and I heard that wired headsets (iphone compatible) work on Stock, so I nandroided and went back to stock from Cyanogen and the headset mic worked fine, so it might be a cyanogen specific issue.

Lost all sound, no sound from external speaker.

I was on virtuous fusion 1.1.8 with the unity kernel v1. Everything was working fine for a few days. However, I just noticed that sound no longer comes out from the external speaker. Headphones still work and I can still hear from the front speaker when I call out but when I click on speakerphone, the phone is silent. Tried taking out the battery and plugging and unplugging some headphones but no luck.
I am sure that the volume is not muted and I have even tried a factory wipe and reinstallation of a clean fusion ROM. Did a quick Google search and saw that a few other mt4g users reporting the same problem on the tmobile forums but never saw a fix. Anyone have any ideas? Is this some unfortunate hardware defect?
If I need to rma, I'm guessing I should unroot and reflash the stock rom, correct?

[Q] Headphone jack Disconnect

Hello all. I need help with this issue. When listening to music through the headphone jack, it will abruptly stop outputting music from the headphone jack and play through the phones stock speaker. I have to reboot the phone to get it to play music through the headphone jack. The problem is occuring with NexusHD2 CM10 v1.4a only. If I revert to v1.3a or Pixelfreak's latest 4.1.2 rom I don't have the issue, so I know it isn't a bad headphone jack. I've also tried fixing permissions, deleting data/casche and dalvik with no success on v1.4a. Any help with a fix would be greatly appreciated. Been using NexusHD2 roms since they were available and never had an issue before. This is my rom of choice and would like to continue using it.

[Q] Strange behaviour of g2 display and audio

Hello guys,
Since a week my g2 has been behaving strange.
The audio has completely stopped working be it from the loudspeakers or earpiece. Even the mic is not working. Although, when i connect the headset, the audio in the headphones and the mic of the headphones work. At this time i tried rerouting radio to loudspeakers and they didnt work.
Since this issue the display switches off when i make a call and doesn't come back on till the person on the opposite side cuts the call.
It has made my device completely useless. I tried flashing cm12 nightly and then flash a modem according to the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-sound-flashing-custom-rom-fix-t2810492
This also failed to work and the same issue continued.
I was running stock 4.4.2 when this issue happened
What do you guys recommend
Thanks
