Earphones with mic dont work... - XPERIA X10 General

I just bought some M9Ps with a built in mic, and they don't even work with this phone. You have to hold the mic button to get clear sound, and when trying to make a call it automatically ends unless you hold the mic button the whole way. Then the person can't even hear you..
Is there a fix to this? I REALLY don't like the default headphones.

There is no fix. You could have known about this issue if you read the accessoires board, because the problem has been documented there.
I bought the M9P's too by the way. I returned them for the regular M9's.

well so what does that mean?
that it wont work?
well i flashed back to di18 and works perfectly wit no issues mic works n so do the headphones onthe headset
now when im in dk28 headphones work but not the mic :/
something ****ed up in the kernel?

Well look on the bright side. You can speak into the phone's mouthpiece even though your earphone is plugged in. =D

I am having the same problem, when you say flashed back to di18 what do you mean? Is that a certain custom rom? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

+1 on this, skullcandy holua's does the same thing, works great on my mw600 but not when plugged directly into the phone. What are you flashing back to fix?

daang i have the same problem with my skullcandy buds Is it because I am on cm 6 + 2.2?

Internal Mic works when headphones are plugged in !?!?

I just noticed that after the Froyo JPM/JP6 update, the internal mic works for calls when a standard headphone is plugged in (without an inline mic). However, volume is very low as it comes from the phone itself. But at least it works now.
Anyone else noticed this ?
Was already working that way on my 2.1 JG4. Found it quite useful but weird since you'd have to hold up the phone to use as the mike.

When I had the headphones or had it connected it to the Aux port of the car, other party always said they can't hear anything..

G2 supplied Headset Issue

I am using the supplied (stock) headset that came with the phone and have noticed my callers telling me that I sound far from the phone when in fact, have been putting the headset's microphone very close to my face to talk. Then I figured what was the problem, the caller couldn't hear because when I was speaking, my phone was far away from my face. Doesn't make sense.
Why would the handset's microphone be activated when I plugged my headset into the headphone jack fully? Shouldn't it be using the headset's microphone instead? I am using the headset and I have to put the phone closer to me in order to talk because that's where the sound input is going through (handset for sound-in and headset for sound-out)
Does anyone else seem to be experiencing this? If you haven't noticed this already, could you give some input and let me know? Greatly appreciate it and thanks in advance.
I haven't noticed anything like this.
I will test tomorrow and see what the other caller says. I've been mostly using the headset that came with my Cliq, so haven't had much of a chance to try it out. I haven't had any complaints with the Cliq headset on the G2 though.
I've used the G2 headset for maybe 2-3 calls so far but no complaints.

I've had the same issue and haven't tried to figure out what is causing it. If you unplug the headset and plug it back in it has fixed the problem for me every time.
same thing but on my wife MT3G Slide with both headsets. i have not encountered that issue with the G2

Actually, the first time it happened, I thought the microphone just sucked and I just winged it and kept talking but talked louder lol. I figured out the second time (yesterday) that it could be getting sound input through the handset instead of the headset. So I went to the handset and asked if they heard me better and they said "oh yeah now you sound close". So after that, I unplugged it and retried it and same outcome. I tried using my Sidekick 2008 (LOL) headset and the microphone piece on the headset worked!!
So I went back on my Sidekick 2008 and called someone and tried the G2 headset with the outcome that the headset's microphone works?! WTH? I thought it would be because the G2's headset being defective but doesn't seem to be the case. So I went back to the G2 to try the headset one more time with its complimentary headset to find that it works as intended now.
Maybe its a software glitch on the phone? Because I know it was in the earphone jack properly (twice), if not, I would have heard distortion in the headset itself. I was using Bluetooth earlier and do recall this issue happening the first time when I was using Bluetooth and switching to headset.

Hmm. I did have the MT3G and honestly, people have told me the call quality on that phone was better than the G2. But to fix or try to troubleshoot your wife's MT3G issue with the headset, try powering off the phone and turning it back on then replug the headset.
my wife had done a wipe on her phone and flashed a different rom before i told her to try it. so i dont know what to say lol it works

lol so it works now?
if so I would say it is safe to say it is software issue. because if it was hardware defect, the phone would not know to do sound input through the handset. that is my guess.
she had cyanogen and changed it to a rooted stock rom i'll update if any issues

[Q] Can't use headphones with inline mic

Hey,
for some reason, I can't use the microphone on any earphone/headphones with an inline mic. The audio output is fine, I can hear the sounds through my earphones. The mic, however, does not work. The main play/pause button on my earphones work as well, but the volume buttons don't.
Weird thing is, even the earphones that come with the G2 does not work, this is obviously a software problem. Is there a known fix or is there an app or something I can download to fix this problem?
Some specific problems:
sometimes when I am calling someone and I use my headphones, the mic on the phone stop working. I'm assuming the phone detects that an earphone with a inline mic is plugged in, thus turning off the one on the phone, but obviously this just ends up with them not being able to hear me at all.
In the sound recorder(where I have been checking whether the mics were working or not), the recorder doesn't detect my mic on the earphones, but it "hears" everytime I press a button on the inline mic which is interesting.
Hopefully someone has gotten this to work. I'm running CM 6.1, the specific earphones I'm trying to get working is skullcandy 50/50s (which is meant for iphone, but i've heard that iphone earphones work too). Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.
That's been an issue for some people. My old wired headset that came with my Cliq does the same thing - audio mic is bypassed and mic on the phone is used instead.
The wired headset that came with the G2 works fine for me though. Tested it every which way with my wife on the phone and always got audio with the headset mic.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
skeptical, I tried using the one that came with the G2 again, and magically it worked. I know that the whole audio/mic thing is still buggy, I probably tested it before when it was acting up. Looks like a lot of people are having success with skullcandy's FMJs so I think i'll go try them out.
I had a similar issue and I heard that wired headsets (iphone compatible) work on Stock, so I nandroided and went back to stock from Cyanogen and the headset mic worked fine, so it might be a cyanogen specific issue.

Phone mic is taking priority over inline headphone mic

Is this a known issue? I am on AOKP rom but have noticed this issue on AOSP, as well. Can anyone who has a stock or stockish rom verify that your headphone mic is working correctly?
I have had 2 calls one on each rom where i used my headphones and the person said they could barely hear me. If i bring the phone near my mouth the user indicates i sound great. When i place the phone away from me they have a hard time hearing me.
Is anyone else having an issue with this? I cannot use mics built into any headphone i use. Tried this on CM. Went to Malladus. Even does it when you go into record. No sound when speaking into headphone mic but when speaking into phone mic, meter moves.

Looks like certain headphones at the current time do not work with this phone. I used Brainwavz m5 and pro alpha's. The mic on the earpiece does not work. I then tried a pair of phonak pfe122s with inline remote. The mic on that worked.
The inline mic on my beats earbuds and my skullcandy aviators both take precendence over the phone mic, I'm completely stock VS980.

[Q] Headphones not working????

Whenever I plugin my headphones, only the right side works. At first, I thought it was a problem with my headphones, but it's all headphones and roms no matter what I do. What should I do?
@aaronfrickinaustin As far as I hear I think that there's something with your headphone port(or how it's called... I forgot it.) where you plug in your headphones. See or there is something inside maybe and or dirt came in if so clean it.

It's called a socket or a jack, FYI. It's possible it's damaged, but I bet there's just some obstruction in the jack or such. Also, make sure the headphones are plugged all the way in!
Nothing's working, if anything, the issue's getting worse

I assume you looked inside to make sure there was no obstruction? If not, I'm guessing your jack is failing. You can look for a bluetooth audio adapter I suppose, as I assume you're device is out of warranty.
Well, it's completely gone, now I can't get audio out of anything :/
I guess I have to replace it now, sucks. :crying:
I have the exact same problem. My headphone doesn't work. Only the right one. First I experienced some crackling and deep sound (distorsioned), then I fixed this issue partialy with the Volume Boost Mod (flashed version) from a XDA user. The right headphone works just fine but the left one doesn't.
There is no information about this problem right now. It begun when I flashed CloudyG3 I think, but also I flashed the baseband for my modelo, I don't know if this has to do whit this
Please anyone can help me?
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone think this would work???
