so I was up late and decided to watch transformers after 30 minutes of watching it i notice that the movie start it to lag and the movie was in slow motion for like 10 second then it would go back to normal. I also load it a few movies and it would play some but not all the movies and all the movies are mp4 I installed 2 different video players and it does the same thing. I used to play this movies with no problem on my tp2 so i know its not the movies are you guys having this issues or is just me.
I always end all tasks before using the video & music players or the camera. that way there are no issues and the phone resources are there for those applications.
I have all task clean i dont have anything open at first i thought that was the problem so i used clean ram but it still happens
no the problem is tmo slapped there name on the device not knowing anything about it they also slapped alot of apps and the movies movie quaity isnt set for the hd2 its set for sumthing else...reason the device is new there is no converter for the hd2 yet
When I play avi(maybe other formats too) movies in Stock Video Player or Vital Player in "hardware mode" videos stutter every minute or so.At first I thought that it might be just one movie but I tried few different vids and they all do that.
Anyone else have this problem?Im on latest Bonsai Ext4 rom.Maybe I removed some apk's needed for smooth playback or changed SetCPU settings but I dont think my Epic did that before.
I usualy wouldnt complain but in Vital Player's "software mode" colors look way too bland-like watching vids on lcd, huge difference, lol.
Is this just Bonsai rom bug or what?
UPDATE SOLVED:I set my SetCPU to "performance" mode instead of "conservative" and no more stuttering!Lol,my phone seems to run way smoother now,all these months with my Epic and I dint know what great effect one simple setting can have.
UPDATE 2:Apparently videos only stutter when im downloading files while playing videos,i should have known that.Oh well,no downloading movies while watching movies.
I wonder why playng movies in "Software Mode" on Vital Player dont have that problem, downloading while playing doesnt cause sturrering.

AVI is a container.not a format..common formats used with AVI is xvid and divx...which is it and what version?
Also have you tried the stock media player?
I so far played almost every format imaginable with no issues..but I am on stock..

It was on Xvid and Divx on stock media player.I fixed it by setting SetCPU to "Performance" mode, now no more stuttering and everything is so much smoother!
Dint know that SetCPU modes have greater impact on performance than setting cpu frequencies.
Update:Stuttering occurs only when downloading files while playin videos. If played in "Software mode" stuttering doesnt occur period.

Performance Governor = Max CPU Speed (1GHz in our case).
When using hardware acceleration, the CPU utilization is likely to be less than software mode which results in lower CPU speed in hardware mode than when using software mode. What is likely occuring is in software mode, the CPU is running at a speed fast enough to process the downloaded files and video simultaneously, whereas in hardware mode, the CPU speed is a bit too low to handle both downloading and video which leads to stuttering... and the CPU load isn't high enough to ramp the CPU speed up to the next level.
Hey, does anyone here know why the app mvideoplayer isn't working correctly with jt1134's Cyanogen 6.2 Beta port? Like I can't play a whole bunch of videos (mkvs, avis, etc.) I just want to know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just something that isn't supported in the port just now. It works fine in Superclean 2.9.2, but that mod drains my battery life TIA!
Edit: Never mind, I just got the free moboplayer from the app store to play videos now (seems to work). Have to use the software decoding option though.
Hello everyone
My Acer iconia a500 has the stock ics and when I play HD YouTube videos the process Media server makes a very high CPU usage (more than 60%) and because of that the playback of the video becomes choppy.
I know that this media server process can't be deleted or disabled but I would like to know if there is a fix for this issue.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
After countless wondering and trying various reasons....for those who have yet to figure out, the cause of the issue for YouTube background playback for this lgv20 anyway is Google Play Services being disabled and whitelist able. GSM dozing persay.
If Google play services are left alone, YouTube background playback will not have anymore issues during screen off. I just found this out ?. Hope this helps anyone with same issue.
Ok...well it started again...I apologise. It was working. Damn it!
I would advise you to check out the Vanced version of YouTube. It has flawless background playback. Just follow the instructions on the website, they have separate versions for both rooted and unrooted phones.

That's what I using. I even tried other methods. This is bull**** lol. Worked then didn't work anymore. Seems like a nougat bug because Oreo didn't have issue.
So yeah...was working at work, then home for a few, then it would keep stopping after one song until I flashed screen on then would work again for a few. Once again this morning tho... background was flawlessly for like 4 songs in a row. So odd of an issue. It works...then don't work lol. This is referring to background playback with autoplay.
For issue: When YouTube goes to play next video while screen off..it will play a few seconds then stop until screen on even tho on lockscreen still. Don't even have to unlock and it starts playing again.
When good: it continues to autoplay in background without stopping screen on or off.
?working good again...same sinareo for Google play services...unmodified (greyed out for battery optimization). YouTube Vanced, YouTube white listed?
So as it did again...I remembered I also had app ops with Google framework and Google play services both set to NOT keep device awake. I set back to allow for both, rebooted. All is flawless so far. ?

Interesting observation about Nougat vs. Oreo. I don't use YouTube Vanced (older version 14.21.54 via Magisk) often, so I never noticed.
I wonder if various kernel tweaks play a role in this.
Here are my findings when going through a playlist with the screen off:
On stock-based Oreo (Alpha Omega) for both US996 USA and H918:
- Kernel tweaks: LKT 1.9.3, balanced profile
- No power saving exclusions for Google Play Services (turned off via Enable Doze for GMS Magisk module), Google Services Framework, YouTube
- Flawless continuous background playback
On stock-based Nougat (Classic Rom) for LS997:
- Kernel tweaks: AKT 1.6, Project Zhana Battery profile
- Battery optimizations are turned on for Google Play Services and Google Services Framework
- If I enable battery optimization for YouTube, then background playback stops after around 5 minutes. But once I disable/ignore the optimization for it, then continuous playback works perfectly.
So, at least in my case, power saving/battery optimization settings for Google Play Services and Framework don't seem to affect YouTube's background play.

Yeah...it's hit and miss and varies day to day. I don't care anymore lol. Spotify has no issues at all. Google dozes or whitelisting don't matter. YouTube is just odd and figgity. Same setting for youtube and different results everytime. OREO OR nougat. Idk what's up lol.
Was fine, then acted up also on my temp root and my girlfriends non root Oreo. YouTube sucks lol
