Setcpu

Hey guys just wondering what are the best settings? Sorry if this a repeat post, ive tried searching but cant find anything. Im still losing like 5-6% an hour if an hour at all.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
If you're losing 5-6% an hour, I would look into other saving options. I was always a setcpu user to set profiles, but I am having no problems on my x10. I would think you have something else going on, ie too many widgets, bad signal strength, too many things running, highest brightness.
Look at battery stats to see what's consuming the most of your battery.
Otherwise, the most improvement you can make with setcpu, is making a screen off profile and reducing clock to about 50%.

Could you possibly give me some optimal settings for powersave?

Probably a bad App or widget preventing your phone from sleeping... are you getting this level of drain when you're not using the phone?
You should check apps/ and widgets which access the internet to update.. check them one at a time by removing them, or turning the update off..
when in standby you should be losing around 1-2% an hour.
The other thing that causes significant drain is 3G/GPRS IF.. you are on the edge of a coverage area - my house is mainly on GPRS, but occasionally I get 3G/HSDPA.. and this constant flipping between data types knackers the battery so I've set mine to GPRS only when at home.
Cheers.
I have no live widgets just shortcuts and the digital clock. Ive turned of 3g now for some reason when i have my sim card which is not used a lot apart from internet use i have good battery lasting me all day.

What do you do to maximize your battery?

Wondering what all you guys do/use to maximize your battery life.
I am on power saver, auto brightness, using greenify, and froze bloatware so it couldn't run in background. I've read mentions of juice defender. Does that really help? I know there are roms that are supposed to help too (I'm mdl rooted and tw recovery installed and that's it).
Tia for sharing your tips.

Just curious how much overall time, screen on are you getting and what's your usage ?
You probably want to look for betterbatterystats and see if any wakelocks are eating the battery..

I'm on it a great deal since I really don't use our computer anymore. I get 7-10 hours depending on if I have a busy day or not. I got 6 on my iPhone 5 because I was on that all the time too.

im on mf3 and using mdob rom using safestrap. major MAJOR increase in battery life plus in addition to titanium backup, greenify and wakelock detector.
I am on one of the GPE ROMs, I don't use NFC or Bluetooth, generally I have GPS off as well, and I sit at 80% after probably an hour of screen time and 5hr screen off. I almost always have 100% brightness.

I am on samsung stock. My battery only used to last 6-8 hours during the day
After 24 hours I generally have 40% battery left.
I switched off notifications for most apps except for Gmail and Whatsapp from Settings -> More -> Application Manager -> gmail -> Show notifications
Also switched off Samsung Link and Samsung Push from Settings -> More -> Application Manager
Set the screen timeout to 15 seconds, auto brightness

I froze all Samsung boat so don't have that but I did turn off notifications for everything but Gmail, voxer and chompsms.
Safestrapped - using Graviton ROM
Greenify - to hibernate all but messages, primary weather/clock widget, chaton, etc (stuff that needs to be running)
Lux - to adjust screen brightness based on light in the current area - in a dark room, I dont need it to be 100%, only outside do I need 100%
Hibernate is not like freezing in Titanium Backup, it is stopping a process (and its wakelocks) and unloading it from memory.
Greenify does this (checking of applications that need to be hibernated) when the screen is off. Since the programs (say FireFox with flash enabled looking at a very animated site) is not running in the background, your battery life is increased. Also, as it is unloaded from memory, your phone feels 'snappier'.
Now if you go nuts and greenify all apps, such as messaging you will not get any message unless you start your messaging program. If you greenify a clock, it will look like it is stuck.
Lux uses the light sensors on you phone to determine how bright of a room you are in. For example, if I am in my living room at 11 am, it is very bright in there. I have Lux bump up my brightness to 50%. At 8 pm, it is pretty dark, 50% is a little too much so I have Lux drop it down to 20%. And if I am outside I have Lux push it to 100%.
Your screen is usually your biggest energy consumer
I am happy to say I get 13-18 hours of life from my phone with middle to heavy use with games, and about 5 hours of talk on LTE (which drops down) because I do not have great reception where I live
Good luck finding your combo to give you better battery life

[Q] Wifi Off but hogs battery!!

I am sure my wifi is switched off when traveling. Still the battery shows wifi on the whole time. I dont know if this is causing a huge battery drain (screen on time is around 3.5-4 hrs) but wifi is shown on all the time (blue line when you go to settings -> battery -> graph).
I have all stock apps and a few usual apps (whatsapp, syncme etc) but nothing untested or unknown.
Any leads wud be appreciated

[Q] Android OS accounting for a huge part of battery usage

Hello all.
First off, bear with me if this has been discussed before, I have searched on google and in previous threads here (including the amazing 58.5 hr standby and 6 hr. usage thread) but I cannot find the culprit of the huge Android OS drain.
The battery lasts about 4.5 hrs of screen on time , which is pretty neat but nowhere near what other people are reporting. I know the battery needs to go through a few cycles before reaching its full potential, but the Android OS drain is what bothers me. Please note that I am unrooted due to warranty issues and an unreliable rootchecker.
I have done the following:
Disabled bloatware
Disabled LG MIT (P.S Do you recommend me to change other settings from the hidden menu?)
Disabled auto sync and backup in the settings menu.
Disabled Google Location services from Google Settings, although I kept the location settings in the settings menu due to widget.
I installed Lux to prolong battery life and it only operates upon waking the device.
Installed BBS and Wakelock detector
BBS shows 154 partial wakelocks in just 3 hours of standby from WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed and NetworkLocationLocator 191 partial wakelocks.
Wakelock detector shows a fair amount of Facebook wakelocks (86 in 3 hours - could that be the culprit?) and Viber with 21 wakelocks. This makes me miss Greenify - damn!
To round this off, can anybody please give me advice on how to solve this drain? As previously mentioned I am not willing to root it just yet. Feel free to include perfomance boosting tips as well if you have any
Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to solve the problem, but I can tell you this regarding root: Flashing a KDZ file after doing a full factory reset makes the roottripper reset too, including a showing of UNROOTED in the download mode.
Awesome news! Makes me reconsider rooting my device. I would still want to know what I can do without rooting. Thanks a lot for the info ?

Use Better Battery Stats to see exactly what is causing wakelocks and GSam Battery Monitor to see what's using other things.
"A huge amount of battery" is meaningless without context. If it says "50%" but that's .5%/hr, it means NOTHING else was doing anything really.
Disable KnockON, then Android OS will shrink to a few percents in your statistics.
I have tested it out, KnockON is causing the most part of Android OS.
Via LG G2
Wifioffdelayifnotused can be caused by going in and out of service. Disable optimizing in Wi-Fi, disable disconnect on low signal, set sleep policy to never.

well. As stated in OP I am using BBS but I will try out Gsam battery.
You've got a point there, but I'm not seeing 24 hours of standby, which annoys me. A side note- if there was no' something' draining my battery wouldn't it show as "device is idle" rather than android os?

Thanks for the tip. I am well aware that knock on uses up some battery but I don't recall the people getting 6 hrs of usage and 50 hrs of standby disabling this feature. Anyway I wouldn't disable this feature even if it would give me am extra hour of usage (unless in dire need) ??
And to the last post (which I forgot to quote) WiFi is set enabled in standby and the other option is disabled. The only thing I have checked in the advanced WiFi settings is lower battery consumption when device is using WiFi. Thanks for clarifying though.
It seems like. Android os is a mystery ?

Delete.
The cpu power consumption is the biggest problem~
I had read a Chinese thread that CPU quality is the major problem causing this huge battery drain. Qualcom classified 7 quality levels. Slow, nominal, fast, very fast, ultra fast,....from class 0 to 6.(higher is better). the higher class quality means that cpu can use lower voltage to reach higher frequencies. The difference between C 6 and 0 is about 0.15V,,, :crying:
PS: [email protected](0.95V Max)/ [email protected](1.1V Max)
There has been some improvement but the phone was awake for 42 minutes more than screen on time . I posted some screenshots.

I'd say leave wifi optimization, set sleep policy to any other than never, and turn off the feature that turns wifi off if the access point you're connect doesn't have internet access. Or try aosp

If you're connected to more Wi-Fi than cell signal, leaving this on will do nothing to increase battery usage, more so increase it. Counterintuitive, but it is what it is. This is Google software itself, not hardware. Learn before you post BS. The phone uses more battery searching and refreshing for 4G data signal than it ever will on Wi-Fi. Do what this guy says if you spend most the day in Wi-Fi, and watch those counts hit the roof. If your of Wi-Fi most the day, just turn it off until you are, all good. Why waste battery when unneeded.

battery Life - SoT question

Hi,
In the last few weeks i have been trying debug why my battery SoT is so low. Reading some threads here i see users with a SoT of 5-6 hours, while mine cannot get past the 3-4h tops.
I already tried everything in the "book", like clean flash Oreo and Nougat, flash KDZ (Oreo and nougat as well), rooted, non-rooted, block wakelocks, disable secondary apps and services... Almost everything i can think of... but still, only can tops at 4 hours SoT max.
I am tring to debug if this could be something that some varients or production batchs may have - maybe a battery less powerfull?- like what happend with the camera sensor.
So, my usage: mostly social networks only - Instagram, Facebook, etc. No vídeo play, no games, 90% of time in Wifi... i see users that most of the time play videos - more intensive that social network apps - and have 6 hours SoT!
For any LG G6 user, what are your usage and SoT?
Thanks!
Make sure you switch data off when using WiFi, as the phone still pings towers when data is on, which eats a bit of battery. Make sure to go through app and block background data use in each app. I use naptime from playstore which puts phone into sleep very quick. I easily get 6 to 7 SoT and about 70 odd hours between charges, but i have WiFi set to off when phone sleeps.

Thanks for the info.
I use ForceDoze, is almost the same and i see a improve in the SoT - but is just a little to be honest.
Indeed, i have the WiFi always on (almost 100% of the time i only use wifi), but i have data disabled during that time.
Every single app that i can have the background data use disable, i have it disable
but will the Wifi use such high usage? Normaly he doesn't have such a huge impact in the battery... (i have the sanning options disable also BTW).
Also, your app usage is more of what - social, games, email, etc? (just to know and compare )
Maybe install better battery stats app to see what is using the battery. No, WiFi shouldn't affect battery that much, must say that i also activate do not disturb between 11pm and 6am.

That is the point.
I have installed, and the only wakelocks that i see most of the time are the "WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed", what appears to be using a LOT of wakelocks... But i also disable that using Wakeblock and didn't solve the issue.
The second one is LGFaceGlaceService, that i think is to the facial recognition in unlocking the device...
I checked and don't have that wakelog listed at all, maybe that's the problem. I don't use face unlock or AOD. But even now i have 2:47 SoT and 28 hours since last charge and phone is on 62% battery left.

5-6 hours SOT on WiFi, 4 hours on Data, one sim card version on Oreo.
I have a similar issue, currently running oreo with root and melina kernal and twrp, flashing kdz and going back to stock changed nothing. Although flashing fulmics gave me much better SoT and Idle Time
