Please Help!!! - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. My SM-G7102 came with the following:
Android version:
4.3
Baseband version:
G7102XXUAML5
Kernel version:
3.4.0-2671946
[email protected] #1
Tue May 13 21:33:27 KST 2014
Build number:
JLS36C.G7102XXUANE2
SE for Android status
Permissive
I have flashed cwm based custom recovery and rooted using SuperUser 2.02. Everything is working fine.
[ Earlier, I had tried, Twrp and Philz recoveries, but they just gave me blank screen and reboots to system.]
I did a full nandroid backup today using my working cwm based recovery, on External SD Card directly.
I want to try out VANDROID ROM V1 by vandroid699. It says it is "E2 Stock Based ROM". My guess is that this is compatible with my device and its Jellybean 4.3.
I am also aware of the fact that once I upgrade the android version on my device, there is NO DOWNGRADING WITHOUT BRICKING THE DEVICE.
Please anyone confirm:
1. Is it OKAY to go for the Vandroid ROM V1 without having any problems?
2. Will I be able to do a "Nandroid Restore" if something bad happens?
3. I have also downloaded from Samsung update website this file "G7102XXUANE2_G7102OJVANE1_PAK.zip". It contains the Tar.Md5 file which is Odin-flashable.
Is it the RIGHT STOCK ROM FOR MY DEVICE? [btw, I am from Pakistan]
Thanks in advance
N.B: I have experience with Nexus 10, Nexus 7 2013, HTC HD2, in terms of flashing roms, kernels, nandroids, but I am new to Grand 2!

Well its just an E2 stock rom flashable zip nothing extra like s5 apps or anything just Samsung bloatware removed ( i haven't tried it ) ...if u want another rom try Gennxt Rom by ballibro and yes the nandroid backup will restore everything and you can flash the firmware you mentioned ...

[Q] How to downgrade from CM9 to stock ROM?

Hi
I have defy+ (MB526) Red lens.
I upgraded from stock ROM Android 2.3.6 to CM9 (4.0.4) Jordan nightly 13.6.2012.
New android works great but it has one HUGE annoying bug - battery wont charge more than 4.15V and it used to be 4.35V.
I was reading and I know it bugs exists for many people and there is no solution I tried 2 different battery patches and it didnt work.
So now I want to go back to CWM backup that I did on official ROM (nand backup). But I heard it could be a problem because now i got newer kernel?!
Those are the details I have now:
CM9 Nightly jordan 13.6.2012 Android 4.0.4:
Baseband version:
EPU93_U_00.59.01
Kernel version:
2.6.32.9-gbdd614e
[email protected] #1
----------------------------
And this was my stock Android before upgrade to CM9:
Stock Android 2.3.6:
Baseband version:
EPU93_U_00.60.03
Kernel version:
2.6.32.9-ge281b6e
[email protected] #1
Build:
4.5.1-134_DFP-231
----------------------------
So my question is can I use nand recovery to go back to my stock android backup that i have. (full system backup)?
Thanx
Download the SBF file and flash it with RSD lite
Are you sure I cant restore NAND backup? As far as I can see, both versions use same GB kernel 2.6.32.9-xxxxx
Thanx

Liquidsmooth ROM + ChronicKernel for GT-I9505

Hello,
I've just used the CF Auto kit for root on a GT-I9505 running Android 4.2.2.
I'm about to use Philz Touch 5.11.2-I9505 CWM for the backup and want to install LiquidSmooth (Liquid-JB-v2.9-OFFICIAL-jfltexx.zip).
My question is, what version of the ChronicKernel do I need?
According to the CK thread:
AOSP-JB4.3 = CM-10.2 etc, AOSP-JB4.2 = CM-10.1 etc, TW-JB4.2 = Android 4.2 TW based ROMs, TW-JB4.3: Android 4.3/Google Edition based ROMs
I'm confused what the equivalent kernel to LiquidSmooth 2.9 is. This is my first install.
On a S4 Galaxy Build No. JDQ39.I9505XXUAMDE
Installed Philz CWM & performed a backup no worries.
LiquidSmooth went on without problems. I still want to put something like ChronicKernel on but which variant?

Great choice! LS 2.9 is based on Android 4.3 and its built on AOSP, so you would want to be looking at chronic kernel that is on 4.3 and aosp based

Rom Suggestion & Some Questions

Hello all,
I have a i9505 and, currently I am on stock 4.4.2, with XXUGNG8 baseband. The phone is from Romania, but I live in Greece.
I am to choose from the following ROMS:
Resurrection Lollipop v5.4.0
Omega 41
GOLDENEYE v51
ECHOE v47
Imperium LL v3.1
Eudemony
Currently the most used kernels are AEL, imperium, stock.
I like having a custom kernel (as I used, in my old Galaxy S1). Which of the two(AEL vs imperium) is better?
Also are there any reported issues with 4G while using a custom kernel or 4G has to do with baseband?
Thank you

No rom is better. It's a personal choice. So just try it out.

Seems like you prefer touchwiz roms.
Depends on what you want. I haven't used any of those roms. RR seems to be the most customizable. Echoe was also very popular.
Check out https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDHt9tJ_reNJhs-IIHSrr1w
He did reviews on most of the roms here on xda. He is also from Romania. So you can ask him if you have any questions.
If you have issues with 4G then you will probably have to flash the modem. That generally fixes it.
To sum up the process:
I use Odin to flash TWRP, and from TWRP I install the rom's ZIP?
Or should i flash something else instead? Now I am on stock 4.4.2

That's exact the right way. Choose the latest twrp and flash any custom ROM. No matter if it is 442 or 5.0.1 or whatever. It could be possible that you will lose mobile data and/or wifi. In that case update your modem to a version that matches with your ROM.
Here's a guide how to update modems with odin.

NOTE: if you flash twrp or another recovery, your knox counter will be 0x1. But i think you know that already.[emoji2]

I would recommend that you root first so you can backup your apps and data with titanium backup.
This is not really necessary if you don't care about the apps.
Also, don't forget to wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.

First custom ROM

Hello!
I have a GT-I9505 (jfltexx) with android 5.0.1 (stock rom) and I would like to flash my first custom ROM - specifically CM 11. Do I have to downgrade to KitKat first (via Odin?) or can I just root, install TWRP and flash it from Lollipop?
Thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide.

Only thing you need to do:
- Flash TWRP
- Flash the custom rom you want.
ps do not use outdated custom roms like CM 11. Always use the latest custom roms available. Thus CM 12.1.

Please Help

Hey xda peeps. I'm new to the site and wanting to upgrade my note 3 roms but having some trouble getting custom roms installed.
First of all my phone specs.
SM-N9007 galaxy note 3
Ver. - 5.0 lollipop
Base - N007DIUGBOI1
KERNAL - 3.4.0-6104449
[email protected] #1
BUILD - LRX21V.N9007DIUGBOJ3
SE STATUS - Enforcing - SERP_SM-N9007_5.0-1_0039
S0V - MDF V1.0 R4 - VPN V1.4 R4.1
These roms are for the n9005 5.0.
I have tried full system wipe/dalvik cache and for a fresh install but does the same thing.
All help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Tasks performed,
Rooted
TWRP RECOVERY
(XPOSED FW won't work due to odex files) - Have tried looking for a compatible guide to deodex my stock rom but have stuggled to get a working one.
Tried installing 2 ROMS
Audax
0mega
Darkwolf
TWRP install zip doesn't flash rom it saying Can't find md5 file or checking for MD5 then after 20seconds it lists aroma 2.4xx installing files then freezes which writes the Rom name and then stops and reboots to recovery
I'm on day 5 browsing google and xda guides to get this custom rom and exposed installed but have had no luck.
Just wondering if the zip files corrupt or TWRP is not working?
Sorry in advanced if you get this all the time which after 5 days im reverted asking the community for guidance
Sorry for not being able to provide help as I am a noob aswell, but how did you get the custom recovery (team win) to work on your phone? I have the same model and it seems very rare. Did you flash a sm-n9005?
Sorry if I misunderstood anything I am a noob!
Thanks!
Who are you asking the 2016 poster or an even older post ??
