So, here's what I'm trying to do:
"flash CM 10.1 5/30, Flash Gapps, Flash KT AOSP kernel. (MAKE SURE IT'S THE AOSP ONE)"
I have flashed CM 10.1, flashed Gapps and everything seems to be working on my S4 (at&t).. well, except for the bluetooth, of course.
What I'm trying to figure out is why do I need to flash KT AOSP kernel and where can I get it?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
Just trying to figure out where I can get the kernel to be used with CM10.1 which I'm already running.
I have installed the rom from this link and works great.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340783&highlight=firmware&page=81
But the phone does feel a little slower then before (this is my first custom rom & first time on android from iphone!)
I have seen people mention 'Faux v7 kernal'? Installing that to make the i9505 faster with this rom... Where can I get this kernal and do I just flash it on the same as I installed the rom?
Thankou

Read up a little on it before you flash but the procedure is:
Flash in recovery, wipe cache/dalvik and reboot
For Google edition roms use the Touchwiz version

Hi,
I recently started experimenting with omnirom and Samsung Galaxy N7000. The build installs perfectly fine along with Google Apps (from Paranoid Android) . However, when I try to install another Custom ROM like Paranoid Andriod-3.99-RC2 for N7000 or PACMAN ROM for N7000, it fails to install. The details:
Omnirom version: omni-4.4-20131204-n7000-NIGHTLY
Device: Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 - International / India.
Google Apps: pa_gapps-full-4.4-20131126-signed
I have attached the log (recovery.txt) for reference.
Any advise / help is appreciated.

This is a recently confirmed issue that I'm not sure what the solution is.
Google made a bunch of changes to how system properties are handled between 4.3 and 4.4. They created some compatibility features such that 4.4 update-binaries would flash on older (4.3 and previous) recoveries, but that doesn't work when flashing zips with 4.3 (and older) update-binaries from a recovery built with 4.4
On most devices, the solution is to just build recovery from a 4.3 tree - but since recovery and kernel are one and the same on the galaxys2 family, there's currently no good solution other than flashing a kernel with a 4.3 (or older) recovery in order to flash a 4.3 (or older) ZIP.
Or the other option which SHOULD work is to remove all the assert checks from the updater-script.
Just flash a custom CM10.2 kernel like raw kernel 4 r3p2 and reboot in recovery.
Then follow the instructions for PA or Pacman.

Thank You.
Mainly Semaphore Kernel has the merit to make "SlimKat stable 3" so fast.
You can tweak it with Semaphore Manager app (i suggest SmartassV2 and ROW)
Maybe i will incorporate Semaphore Kernel in next ports...
On the other hand if i use CM11 as standard kernel, users can flash later Semaphore or NeatKernel, and maybe reflash rom if they want CM11 kernel.
So they have 3 different kernel options (CM11, Semaphore and NeatKernel)
only kitkat?

I was also going to ask for this but kind of hesitated since it is ICS. People using this are extremely happy with it.
Also @Monfro could you please add the Md5ums of the files if it is not much trouble?
And of course thanks for your work!

Probably this week i will work on it; i have seen too a lot of people happy with it.
From my personal experience i remember that AOKP was the fastest ICS rom, and when 4.1 Jelly Bean was out it was smoother, thanks to project butter. So i think that 4.1 and 4.3 should be both faster than 4.0 ICS. Anyway we will see soon...
I have noticed that i made a mistake on both versions of OmniRom i posted.
I uploaded the new corrected versions, so OmniRoms now are good to go.

Thanks.

It packs GearKernel for ICS, not universal version.
It should be ok.
I decided to use it since it is based on Semaphore, also adding OC steps and it is updated.
There are also a lot of other ICS kernels available.
If you want to be sure before flashing make a backup of EFS folder.
If you will lose the IMEI flash a 4.3 rom like Slim and IMEI will be back.
I forget to write that the rom and kernel have the BigMem mod.
Please report feedbacks on this and other roms.
And also on kernels for 4.4.2 roms...better to use as stock NeatKernel, Semaphore or plain CM11??

Dear Monfro,
It goes like this:
1: Boot to recovery.
2: Wipe data + cache
3: install MackayROM CM9 from sd card:: It restarts itself and boot to recovery.
4: install from sd card/ external_sd :: and then no memory exists there.
5: I have to go back to stock every time.

I forget CM9 is on an old partition layout.
Flash the first time: it converts partitions to the layout used in CM9, then it reboots to the recovery just flashed.
It is normal this way.
Flash the second time: it installs the rom.
But you can't since /sd card and /external_sd are not mounted.
Try this: flash one of the semaphore kernel i linked. reboot recovery and then flash rom.
Tomorrow or the day after i will post again the rom with some modifications.
Hello all,
I have a i9505 and, currently I am on stock 4.4.2, with XXUGNG8 baseband. The phone is from Romania, but I live in Greece.
I am to choose from the following ROMS:
Resurrection Lollipop v5.4.0
Omega 41
GOLDENEYE v51
ECHOE v47
Imperium LL v3.1
Eudemony
Currently the most used kernels are AEL, imperium, stock.
I like having a custom kernel (as I used, in my old Galaxy S1). Which of the two(AEL vs imperium) is better?
Also are there any reported issues with 4G while using a custom kernel or 4G has to do with baseband?
Thank you

No rom is better. It's a personal choice. So just try it out.

Seems like you prefer touchwiz roms.
Depends on what you want. I haven't used any of those roms. RR seems to be the most customizable. Echoe was also very popular.
Check out https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDHt9tJ_reNJhs-IIHSrr1w
He did reviews on most of the roms here on xda. He is also from Romania. So you can ask him if you have any questions.
If you have issues with 4G then you will probably have to flash the modem. That generally fixes it.
To sum up the process:
I use Odin to flash TWRP, and from TWRP I install the rom's ZIP?
Or should i flash something else instead? Now I am on stock 4.4.2

That's exact the right way. Choose the latest twrp and flash any custom ROM. No matter if it is 442 or 5.0.1 or whatever. It could be possible that you will lose mobile data and/or wifi. In that case update your modem to a version that matches with your ROM.
Here's a guide how to update modems with odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=58785261
NOTE: if you flash twrp or another recovery, your knox counter will be 0x1. But i think you know that already.[emoji2]

I would recommend that you root first so you can backup your apps and data with titanium backup.
This is not really necessary if you don't care about the apps.
Also, don't forget to wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.
