Hi guys,
I have an i9507 which is the Aus/HK variant of the i9505, on which I'm using CM11. Up until last week it was working fine, and I updated from M7 to M10 to try out the new features and still it was working fine. However, when returning to my parents house (in an area that has mostly 3G coverage) I had no reception. I tried to roll back to M7 but it didn't fix the issue.
I was unable to send texts on M10, but on M7 I could send texts fine. The issue is that I cannot receive texts or calls, and when someone tries to call me, it comes up with a window saying 'the process com.android.phone has stopped working'. As well as this, sometimes when I'm poking around in Settings seeing what I can change, Settings will close unexpectedly.
I've done a complete wipe of the phone, including all the cache and other assorted folders that you can format in the CWM submenus. For all intents and purposes I had a completely fresh, empty phone onto which I downloaded the M7 version of CM (the last known perfectly working version) and yet it still has the same problem. Any ideas?
I've flashed the modem.bin for my particular variant but to no avail.

I finally got superuser working by flashing Echoe Illusion, the full touch-wiz version with Android 4.3. At first it seemed like I had everything working but the next day when I left the house (no longer connected to home wifi) I quickly realized it was refusing to connect to mobile data. I also cannot send text messages, and likewise I can assume I can't get them either. I have tried flashing the nightly CM11 build and 3G connected although LTE did not. I wasn't in an area where I expected reliable LTE anyway so that's not even an issue at this point because I'd very much like to use this Echoe Illusion rom, or another Touch-wiz based one. I just can't go downloading a bunch of them because I have a severe restriction on data usage and have already downloaded Echoe Illusion AND multiple other things. If it matters, my baseband ends in MJA.
I have also attempted to flash different modems with Odin, although all of them failed completely to flash at all and at this point I have to honestly admit I don't know what I'm doing. This is most definitely not my first time rooting...I'm just used to HTC phones, the Evos in particular. Thanks in advance if anyone can help or provide useful tips!
oh and P.S. I can't go back to the stock firmware because I must have flashed an incorrect kernel, and it borked the phone. I only got it working again by flashing a separate rom (Echoe Illusion) and have since flashed other kernels with no ill effect. I had a nandroid backup of the stock rom before I borked it, but every time I try restoring it, it stops at the yellow Sprint screen and won't boot.
XDA,
Received my phone (vs980) and immediately rooted and installed ROM on it. I have gone through multiple ROMs with the same result in that everything works great except for the phone app. I can navigate through contacts and dial fine, but when I execute the call, the screen goes black for about 10 seconds (can still see the status bar) then finally gets to the "call in progress" screen where it immediately ends the call. Phone will not even recognize inbound calls and sends them to voicemail after about a second or two of ringing. I am currently on resurrection remix v5.1.1 but was previously on C-rom v6.5 (also tested 6.4 with same result). Unfortunately I can't say I made a call on stock before rooting/ROMming so I don't know if it's a persistent issue. I have tried clean wipe of data/system/cache/dalvik cache, and have cleared the app data for the phone and dialer apps as well to no avail. Baseband version is vs98012b. Should I try wiping internal storage as well? My next step is to return to stock and test there but that seems like a more labor intensive process that could be avoided if I'm missing something else. Could this be a possible hardware issue? All help is appreciated.

After upgrading to the Note 4 back in March, I recently decided to dabble in the rooting and custom ROM world of Android back in late June - early July.
I've been using CM12.1 nightlies since July 19th and currently have the August 20th nightly. One problem I had is that if I tried to update CM via the CM updater under the "About Phone" section, I end up getting "No Service" for my mobile signal/data which meant reflashing the stock firmware and reflashing TWRP/Cyanogenmod. So if I wanted to update nightlies (no plans to until Android M), I would have to manually get the nightly zip files from my laptop then wipe my previous nightly clean so the mobile signal would still work.
But the biggest problem I (still) have now is that I simply can't send text messages ranging from 10 minutes to several hours (Would just be stuck at "Sending..." and eventually "Not sent. Touch to try again") only after I turn off/restart my phone or turn on airplane mode. It shows that I still have connection to Sprint and I can actually use LTE/3g. Also interestingly enough, I can still call people AND receive their text messages, but I just can't send text messages.
It's not a big enough deal breaker for me where I would have to go back to stock ROM, but I'd like to know why this is the case. Since sending text messages seems to be the only problem, I assume it can't be the mobile signal itself since I'm still able to call, receive text messages, and use LTE/3g.
Things I've done/tried so far with no solutions:
1. Read older OPO/XDA threads about something called Voice+ causing the issue, but no such application exists on my CM.
2. Flashing the 5.1.1 firmware from Sammobile since CM12.1 is based off 5.1.1 Lollipop since I originally rooted and flashed CM12.1 with the 5.0.2 firmware. Problem still persists even on the 5.1.1 firmware
One final thing I will probably try to do is do an advanced wipe via TWRP, flash the stock 5.1.1 firmware and then get TWRP back via Odin and flash one nightly zip only and never attempt to update or flash new nightlies until Android M.
As for now, once I get my ability to text again, I'm not going to turn on airplane mode or turn off/restart my phone and leave it be. I have a fair enough standby time with CM (One night I only had a 2% drain in 7 hours of sleep or so without CM's battery saver mode) which is nice.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: Apparently location seems to be the problem. I am now realizing that this issue only really occurred when I'm at my house. Even though I live in the city, it seems to prevent me from texting. But, I can text with no problems after turning airplane mode on and off or turning the phone off and on again at work and at certain stores I go to.

Hi!
I rooted my old LG P700 and subsequently installed (after full system wipe + both caches wipe) [L7][ROM][4.4.2][AOSP] Vanir . I made sure to install v20DEuropeOpen.Baseband.zip as well.
Everything works fine so far, but there is one HUGE problem. When making or receiving voice calls, the incoming speaker is not heard at all most of the times, and only barely (very distant) and/or delayed. Thus, calling is virtually IMPOSSIBLE now. What can I do to fix this problem?
PS: I haven't personally touched, i.e. changed the kernel, though this might be included by the custom ROM (?). My gapps version gave me Error 7 but the Play Store had been successfully installed so I got what I needed from there.
Thank you for your assistance.
Hi all--
I wonder if you could please help me solve a tricky issue?
Before rooting, phone worked fine. Brand new Moto 5G Plus activated on Sprint network.
After rooting my G5 Plus with a custom rom (Dirty Unicorns), everything worked fine except I lost my LTE signal (Sprint). The phone functions in all other capacities (calls, SMS, wifi). To be clear, the phone is receiving a Sprint signal, but no data LTE/3G is passing through. Phone calls and SMS are fine.
When I go to Settings-Network & Internet-Mobile Network-Advanced-Carrier Settings, I get an error-- "com.android.phone has stopped."
I decided to test with another reliable custom rom so I installed LineageOS 15.1. Same exact problem-- no data, and carrier settings brings up ""com.android.phone has stopped."
Any ideas? I've googled myself to death and I've not found anything that has worked.
Thanks in advance, everyone.
Could you get us trough ur procedure of flashing ?
Sure
All done in TWRP
Factory reset (wipe data/dalvik/cache)
Install Custom Rom (either Lineage 15.1 or DU v12.5.2)
Wipe cache/dalvik
Install GApps (ARM64-- I tried to install 32-bit GApps as I've heard Moto G5 Plus runs on 32-bit architecture, but it failed-- install log told that ARM64 was the correct version for my device)
Wipe cache/dalvik
Install Magisk
Reboot
That's it-- one thing I noticed when restoring my manufacturer rom image was that I needed to issue a *#*# dialer command to get SprintDM to start recognizing the network. When I tried to issue that command in DU and LineageOS, nothing happened.
Following up on my last email
Does anyone know if the ##72786# or *#*#72786#*#* dialer command (which forces a system update to provision data with the carrier) is specific to Sprint or if it's part of Android? The reason I ask is because this command works fine on factory roms but doesn't seem to work on my rooted phones (in addition to the Moto G5 Plus, same thing happens with my wife's super old rooted Moto X with Renegade custom Rom-- but no problem with data on this phone). On stock factory rom, the phone resets and SprintDM provisions the data. On rooted Dirty Unicorns and LineageOS, nothing happens. I wonder if this broken command is related to the "com.android.phone" error I discussed above.

A similar thing happened to me. I was rooted with a custom rom(Pixel Experience) but I switched carriers to Boost Mobile and now I have no data and com.android.phone crashes when I try to open carrier settings.
