Im using Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.
When I used Internet via mobile data or wifi after few minutes automatically power will go off. If i make power ON then also system will not starts. But when i connected to charger it will starts again then the battery is showing low and continuing to charge. Is it an issue with battery or firmware issue ???

Check your battery, if the serial number starts with BD or it's swollen then it's faulty. If the serial number starts with BD samsung will replace it free of charge.

yeap. my battery start from BD serial. and check the battery 2day it is slightly bigger when it touching. seems like i hav to replace it. thing is its only happening when using the internet or internet relating apps, thatz y still i m bothering. tks for the help.
machan its probably ur battery ! it wont have the capacitance to hold the usage when it connects to 3g + it should be the exact serial number ..
To diagnose try connecting ur charger and then browse ! even i had this problem ! replace a good battery ! then ur good to go !! just purchase it from ebay !
and still if u didnt fix the issue !
more facts
go to recovery mode and do a full wipe factory data reset
keep ur phone in a cooler environment and let it work !
if that didnt fix ur problem then it might be a hardware fault (i dont exactly say )
im sure its the battery !
good luck

tks for the reply machan. i did the factory reset too. but still the issue is there.
as u said, i m going to change the battery and i understand your point. i ll order from the ebay too, can buy good one in lesser price than samsung arcade in here
tks again machan
sure thing man !! cheers thumbs up !!
@lahiru27 If you have a Samsung Centre in your city just take your phone with the swollen battery there and they will replace it free of charge.
There's no need to buy one off eBay etc.
Furthermore I wouldn't trust those batteries sold online unless it comes from the Samsung store. I got burnt buying a spare battery online and it was fake. It looked legit inalmost every way. I started to think the battery was fake when I noticed the battery life only about 75% of what my original battery.
Did some googling and found it to be fake. when copmparing against my original the eBay one was lighter, slighlty thinner and the Samsung in big wasn't as neat.

So I have been having problems with my S4 suddenly shutting down when the battery drops to 70-80 percent. I wiped /data, reflashed stock (MH8) and even flashed the .pit file but nothing has helped. Rebooting after the phone has shut itself down, I'm lucky to get to the PIN-screen before it turns off again (sudden black screen, no regular shut down sequence). The only remedy is recharging.
I noticed that my battery appears swollen, but i figured it might be NFC-circuitry or something. Would be very grateful is someone could take a look at their battery and compare with the attached image (sorry for the iphone ruler). Would be a lot nicer to try with a new battery instead of sending it away for a motherboard replacement or something. Thanks.
That definitively doesn't look normal. :s
My battery is swollen as well. Shutting down frequently especially when using 3g and browsing.
It's not normal. My old Galaxy S 4G's battery started draining really fast and shutting down whenever I had around 50-60%. The battery was swollen. You should buy another S4 battery.

I wouldn't be charging that or using it either. There's a good chance it may explode if charged or used...
Unfortunately for you batteries aren't normally covered under warranty. You might need to bite the bullet and either buy another Samsung branded battery or an OEM one off ebay.
I had the same issue, changed battery and its working again.
There's also a thread in the general section. Seems to happen sometimes...

Weird though, I don't usually overcharge och trickle charge my battery. My faulty one had a serial number beginning with BD, perhaps it was a bad batch.

The exact same problem has started for me too literally a few days ago. I reflashed and formatted everything because I presumed the reboots were a software issue. I only noticed today that my battery is a little swollen but not as much as on some of the pictures I've seen.
Has anyone taken the battery back to a shop? How was it handled? My phone is only 3 months old but I have it rooted so I need to know whether they will want the whole phone or just replace the battery in case I need to revert to full stock firmware.
Battery serial number also starts with BD

I tried to get a new battery from store, but they wanted whole phone, because how they said it could be the phone problem.
I ended up buying a new battery.
If it is swollen just get a new one, means that it is pretty much gone

Hi! I am from Pakistan and have this same battery code B600BE. It reads "Cell Made in Japan, Assembled in China". I am only posting this with an intention to help someone:
I bought my S4 (i9500) almost 4.5 months back. I am a hardcore smartphone user and do cpu intensive tasks on my phone like crazy. My battery isn't swollen at all, exactly like I got it. Sometimes, my phone heats up a lot (eg playing CoC) and I charge and play at the same time without caring about battery and cpu temp. And so far my battery life is decent. Almost exactly like when I got it new. Don't experience any reboots or shutdowns etc
So this means that not all B600BE are faulty batteries. I guess ? Will update my post if I find more information about the "faulty battery batch" manafactured (as some xda members claim).

On my battery i cannot see where the cell is made,
It just says
MADE IN CHINA / FABRIQUE EN CHINA
ENSAMBLADO EN CHINA / MONTADO NA CHINA.
Like this http://www.technobuffalo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Samsung-Galaxy-S4-Battery.jpg
But then China ipv Korea
Mine is made in China, product code B600BE, S/N: BD1D512BS/2-B. It got swollen after only 2 months. Luckily they replace swollen S4 batteries here in the Philippines and in severe cases where the battery got so swollen it broke the motherboard or screen they replace those parts too. It happens quite a lot here and the folks at Samsung Care admit it's a factory defect on a batch of batteries.
My battery is also swollen. The serial number starts with BD. It is not as much as the OP but still is. I will try to replace it using warranty.
When the battery is swollen lije that, you'd better stop using it.

Hello everybody,
I have searched a lot on this forum, but I could not find this exact problem and I am getting very frustrated. I had this phone since mid September. The phone is not rooted.
Battery life was great for the first 3 months, than something weird started to happen. I also upgraded to 4.3, because I have the gear, but I do not think this is the main issue.
When the battery is fully charged, it drains more quickly than before and from my understandin looking around Internet, this could be because of 4.3. Ok, but it is not all.
When the battery reaches 40%, it starts draining super fast, like 15% per hour without doing anything. When it reaches 20% the phone becomes really hot and if I reboot it goes into a boot loop and battery goes instantly to 0%. If i plug in the chargher, it doesn't aknowledge it and does not charge. In order to fix it, I have to remove the battery and start charging. Now I can do it with phone on or off but the phone starts to charge super fast, definitively not normal. it goes from 0 to 10% in two minutes and keeps charghing super fast till it reaches about 50%, then it starts to cool off and charges more or less at a normal speed.
Today I unplug it when it reached 50% because I wanted to look at the battery SN, as I read there are faulty batteries starting with BD and mine does too. I tried to see if it is swalled, but it is hard to say without a good one to compare. Well, when I put the battery back in and turn the phone on, the indicator showed 80%!
I am very confused, as there are many factors involved. I read that 4.3 has some issues, I read there are faulty batteries, I read that many people tried to solve with calibration, but other people say it is useless on S4...
Would you mind sharing some thoughts?
Thank you very much!
I wanted to add my batter SN is BD1D606XX. According to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504093
it shuldn't be faulty...
Change the battery. Batteries are cheap. Only tc dont buy again one with serial starting for BD :highfive:
Thanks for the quick answers. I live in Thailand, I bet all the batteries here comes from China and starts with BD. Are you positive it is the battery?

I was having the exact same issues and replacing battery solved everything. If you live near a Samsung service centre they should be able to do a swap for you with no bother. Samsung are aware of this issue and should not give you a battery with the same serial at the service centre. Obviously if you order a battery through a third-party supplier you will have to be a little more careful, but if you mention the issue at time of ordering you should be ok!
Best of luck :good::good:
Thank you. Yes, I live close to a Smsung service Center. I had already brought it in because it had stopped charghing, maybe USB ribbon. They fixed it in 1 day under warranty, so I will try to have the battery replaced under warranty. Worst case scenario, I will buy a new one, it is not expensive, but I want to find a different batch!!!

Hi, few days ago I rooted my phone "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505" with SafeRoot metod.
Now my phone starts rebooting all the time when battery is lower then 50% and now I must send it to service.
I need to unroot my phone before sending it to service.
If I unroot my phone with SU app, will phone status get back to "official" or not?
Can I change devise status to "official" on some other safe way (without tripping KNOX)?
By the way, Im from Croatia "EU".
Thanks!

What you need to do:
1. take out the cover of your phone.
2. remove the battery
3. check if the battery's serial begins with: BD
4. Visually, by putting on flat surface, check if your battery is swollen
If answer to 3 or/and 4 is: YES, you have to call Samsung service centre claiming that you have the battery with BD number, that it is swollen visually and that you require replacement battery under the warranty.
Good luck.

Im sure that 4. is YES, BUT I will se 3. later.
The problem starts only when battery is under the 50%, when battery is 50% to 100% phone works without problems.

Im guessing this is battery problem , dont you have any spare battery or something to see if its gonna get fix? its just a few dollars you know. rather than sending for repair and it takes exactly 1 to 2 weeks :S. and if you wanna Download a stock rom base from your country , you can get it from here. Have a nice day.

Hi Guys,
Hope of you experts can give me some tips because at this moment I can't afford to buy new phone so...
My Galaxy S5 is showing big issues to me, when its powered off and plug in to charger (wirelles DIY charging + and - to wireles charging pins on phone with using original Samsung charger, my charge port isn't working so this is my last resort, please don't judge me I simply can't afford new phone ) It bercomes really hot. Also when I power it on it becomes hot too (around 47celsius) and battery drains fast. In past I didn't have this problem, yes it was charging really slow but at the end when it reach 100% my battery lasts for two days (using greenify, and with all low settings) ...problems started two days ago. Bad thing is I can't connect it to Odin and make factory reset to stock rom so I wipe all and install fresh custom rom (XxX no limits, full debloated) from my SD card, but problem is not gone. I check out battery on my table and it is ok (also battery condition says: good).
What I can feel is not that battery is geting hot but cpu. So is there any chance to fix that? I already try several apps but with no luck
Maybe you guys can give me some tip like how to back to stock rom (and kernel) but with install from SD card as I can't acces Odin because of bad charging port....or any other tip is more than welcome as I can't afford new or used phone and S5 is still big thing for me according to its performance and other things...please help...
Thank You!
nobody?
Replace the god damn daughterboard with the microUSB 3 port. It will be better than going further with your stupid "wirelles" charging idea which can damage the phone. Don't be that cheap. Earn more money. Why did you buy it if you can't afford to keep it running?

Hi dear friend, tnx for your kind reply,
Well... I got 16yo, don't have adress (you never know who is on the other side of the line and whats the story behind) to even order it from your family. I got this S5 as a gift from my mother who pass away last year. After spending some time with this fabulous phone (yes, I open it and reasamble even without heat gun )...I menage to fix it.
Everyone of us got that courious technician inside and lucky to me I go to technician high school so I know the basics of safety...etc.
Now I got almost new S5 (battery lasts for almost two days) fixed all by myself wich proves power of the will and quality of components that Samsung puts inside their phones.
Long live Android, Samsung and all other open source runned phones...also want to say special tnx for one high reputable person from this forum (he insist to stay anonymous) who encourage me on private msg to keep investigation as I refuse to recive his old android phone.
Sometime you gotta (or need) do DIY. <3 XDA ...Keep it going! <3

You sure its not just bad batteries? I didnt even try to buy a Samsung battery when I recently replaced mine... too many junk knockoffs/used/refurbs. I went with after market. Your issue sounds like a lot of the bad battery stories I read about though. I always charge a new battery with the phone off, and then run down to 1% or 2%. I never use fast charge either

Where are you getting your batteries, and how are you charging it when you get it? "New to you" batteries doesnt necessarily mean "brand new", and can still be junk
no it's original from Samsung store branch
you still havent told us how youre charging your new batteries
