Hi. I've asked similar question before but wasn't given a clear answer.
I've done quite a bit searching and I am not a noob to rooting and custom roms.
I want to keep my knox and I am aware that there is a method using towelroot to root without knox tripping, however installing CWM or any other custom recoveries will trip knox.
My question is, once I've rooted using towelroot method and then install clockwork's rom manager off play store then install recovery through it, will they still trip knox?
Also what if I just use rom manager to install custom roms without instslling the recovery? Is that possible? I so badly want custom roms but I cannot risk knox. Please advice....

A: You will trip KNOX this way as well.
Q: What if I just use rom manager to install custom roms without installing the recovery? Is that possible?
A: Use Mobile Odin Pro instead. ROM Manager uses an existing recovery to install ROMs, without a recovery it is not possible. Check this link out.

Thank for your detailed reply!
I got the mobile odin pro now.
I want miui rom but wonikas miui has custom kernel. It will trigger knox right?
Any other miui rom without custom rom? Or is there way to install miui rom with stock kernel?
Or does miui require custom kernel to work?
All Miui Roms require a custom kernel so you will definitely trip knox.
Go for it
If you decide to go for it do youself a favor: Flash TWRP recovery.
Take a look at [TOOL/UTILITY][TWRP][ 2.7][RECOVERY] TWRP 2.7.2.x TeamWin Recovery Project 7/5
You will not regret it.

I have flashed a ROM Stock with Knox in 0x0 and root. How could install a Custom Recovery like CWM or Philz without up to 0x1?
Maybe ... Could with Mobile Odin Pro? or is there any safe method to install a Custom Recovery like SafeRoot method for root?
Thanks in advance.
You can't.

No. Only with android 4.2.2 was possible flash a custom recovery and custom roms without trip the KNOX.
Hi all, im a noobie with samsung devices and this whole Odin thing so decided to ask here before messing up things.
So, i want to install a custom rom. I rooted my device with towelroot just a while ago, so now i only need a CWM recovery. Can i just download the latest CWM .tar file for note 3 and flash it through Odin? Will the fact that i rooted using towelroot have any impact on this? Also, will towelroot stick when flashing the CWM recovery, or flashing a new rom?
Can Rom Manager be used to install CWM, as i understand that it is a supported device. Is it a worse way than going through Odin?
My plan is to make a backup with CWM and then probably flash X-Note rom if all goes how i planned it.
Sorry if these questions are answered somewhere, couldn't find with browsing and searching for a good while.
Im on N9005 and 4.4.2
Thanks for all help!

Use this to install CWM through Odin it is better.
When u flash the new ROM and after wiping, the root using towelroot will be gone but probably the rom u'll be flashing will already be rooted or u can root easily with CF auto root.
I recommend TWRP over CWM, especially for a new flasher
Cheers!

Towelroot doesn´t trip Knox but don´t forget that custom ROM or recovery trip know to 0x1.
Don´t use any ROM managers etc. It make a lot of problems with phone

Yeah i am aware of that, btw does it matter if im using Odin v. 1.85? Does it have to be 3.x or so?
Edit: Sry the Odin i have is Odin3 v.1.85
Hi guys!
I was with old bootloader and always used custom roms without a problem.
(I had the GOLDENEYE XXUGNG2)
I got my S4 on service due to screen replacement (i have returned to stock MGA rom, triangle away, all official etc) and with the screen replacement they also update my phone to stock XXUGNF1. :crying:
So i need a workaround for how root my phone, custom recovery, custom roms without trigger the KNOX flag.
(I have lost many episodes..)
Thanks in advance!
Not possible.. You can root it without tripping though by using towelroot
So, towelroot for root.
(If i want to un-root, i just install a stock rom with ODIN or something else?)
If try for custom recovery or rom, knox will be triggered?

Thanks my friend!
Hi all
First off, I'd like to say I am not complete noon but my question might be.
I have been using custom roms since Note 1.
Now I got Note 3 few months back and have been using full stock rom.
Now I'm ready to try custom tom for the Note 3 but I have few confusions.
I didn't have to worry about binary/warranty/knox count with Note 2 or 1, but with Note 3, I'd like to keep them at 0.
So I did some googling myself but I say I'll confused.
I know that it is possible to root without triggering knox but how do I get custom recovery without triggering knox?
Also I couldn't films philz cwm recovery thread anywhere on the forum for the Note 3.
Please some one advise.
Ideally I would like a rom without root so I can use my banking apps but custom recovery for easy backups and custom firmware.
Thank you all in advance.
Root with 0x0 is posible with Towelroot.
Custom recovery is not posible.
Towel root and Xposed framework is the next best thing to a custom Rom if you don't want to void warranty.

I know this might be a stupid question to some of you, but actually I can't find out if installing a custom rom require root? I have mine S7edge installed TWRP recovery, but I wonder if you need root access to install custom rom?
I think I found out that you don't need root access to flash a custom rom, was hoping that I didn't trip my Knox when installing (Recovery TWRP). TIL recovery flashing will also trip your Knox!

Root is not needed to flash a custom ROM. Flashing TWRP tripped knox though.
