[Q] Please help with custom recovery - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
First off, I'd like to say I am not complete noon but my question might be.
I have been using custom roms since Note 1.
Now I got Note 3 few months back and have been using full stock rom.
Now I'm ready to try custom tom for the Note 3 but I have few confusions.
I didn't have to worry about binary/warranty/knox count with Note 2 or 1, but with Note 3, I'd like to keep them at 0.
So I did some googling myself but I say I'll confused.
I know that it is possible to root without triggering knox but how do I get custom recovery without triggering knox?
Also I couldn't films philz cwm recovery thread anywhere on the forum for the Note 3.
Please some one advise.
Ideally I would like a rom without root so I can use my banking apps but custom recovery for easy backups and custom firmware.
Thank you all in advance.

Root with 0x0 is posible with Towelroot.
Custom recovery is not posible.

Towel root and Xposed framework is the next best thing to a custom Rom if you don't want to void warranty.

[Q] n7105 (5! not 0!) how to root and flash and not trip KNOX!?!?

Simple.
Lots of info out there for n7100 but, how do you root and flash a custom rom and kurnal without triggering the KNOX eFuse on n7105?!?!
Also, does it even matter if I break KNOX? I get that it voids ur warranty (don't care, have none), but does it actually change anything in the software environment?
Thanks in advance

- find your favourite kernel and ROM
- download onto sd card
- follow instructions provided in thread.
what this really comes down to is, flash a new recovery from the default recovery, i recommend philz cwm, reboot into your new recovery, wipe caches for new ROM, install zips, reboot, done!
If you dont care that your warranty might be lost, feel free to follow any method mentioned in the N7105 section. You need to get a custom recovery first, I recommend Philz touch. Once you have custom recovery, sky is the limit for you!
Thanks but
Thanks, but just to be clear, is there a way to do it? Install custom recovery, root, rom, etc. Without tripping knox.
Tried using some methods that are said to work. But n7105 is not supported. Only n7100... There has to be a way
Thanks

[Q] can you flash custom roms with KNOX bootloader

I have a Sprint Galaxy S4. I old one broke and i got a another using my warranty. There was no way they could repair it. it had a rock go through the phone. My old one had the old bootloader and i rooted it, installed CWM bootloader and had custom roms on it. I liked it that way. My new one had the newer Kit Kat OS on it. I was aware of the KNOX counter on the newer version of android. I know i can root it with out tripping the KNOX counter but can you install custom roms on my phone. What if i don't care about tripping the KNOX counter can i still install CWM or Philz recovery? If so, will KNOX let me install custom roms. Basically i want to do what i used to do on my old phone; freely try different recoveries/bootloaders and custom roms, with out KNOX interfering. At the very minimum have root access and install any of the newer custom roms that are out there( particularly the Negalite rom.)
Yes you can. Search next time please. This has been answered before.

Qns on ROMs
Hi Guys,
My SM-9005 kitkat 4.4.2 kernel 3.4.0-1703205 baseband N9005DXUENE3 was rooted with Towelroot and I've checked with rootchecker, it says that I have root access. However in my phone's download page my system status remain as "official" instead of "custom". Is my device rooted properly? or Is this normal?
1) How to install custom recovery compatible with my device?
2) Currently my Knox remain as 0x0, will the process of installing a custom ROM trip Knox by any chance?
3) Are launchers only compatible with stock ROMs and not custom ROMs?
4) Currently what are the top Stock & Custom ROMs compatible with my device? (If I'm focusing more on games, performance, batt life and very low usage of S pen).
Thanks in advance!

Search before you ask for help. All these have been answered many times in this very forum.
Official or custom system status has nothing to do with rooting.
Find custom recovery from development section and flash it with Odin.
Custom ROM does not trip KNOX, but flashing custom recovery and/or kernel will.
What launchers you have in mind? Stock TouchWiz ones might only work on stock(-based) ROMs. Third-party launchers should work on all ROMs, though exceptions can occur.
There is no best ROM. Try different ROMs ones, see yourself what is best. A ROM may be best for one, worst for other.
Also - If you don't care about the journey of Android ROMs, you are not supposed to be here.

Hey mate! That's the advantage of towelroot. You are rooted without tripping knox warranty or changing the status to custom. In other words, you could still get OTA updates when it's available eventhough you're rooted

Hi,
Thanks for your clarification, still a bit confused though, and I don't understand you by "If you don't care about the journey of Android ROMs, you are not supposed to be here". Please don't feel offended as I'm new & total noob to the root & the ROM "world". FYI, I did search & read up the internet for information but I don't understand most of it. Thus I'm seeking help here.
1) In order to install & flash any Custom ROM, one must have custom recovery for back up first right? Since by flashing a custom recovery will trip Knox, then why do so many people (including me) trying so hard to find a way to root our devices without tripping Knox in the first place?
2) Does custom ROMs & kernels comes separately and not together? For example, I can install custom rom A and flashing kernel B from custom rom B or other sources?
3) Are there ways to customize or modify my device e.g Changing boot up animation, overclocking the processor, changing batt logo etc... while rooted and running on original ROM?

[Q] question about know, towel root and clockwork rom manager

Hi. I've asked similar question before but wasn't given a clear answer.
I've done quite a bit searching and I am not a noob to rooting and custom roms.
I want to keep my knox and I am aware that there is a method using towelroot to root without knox tripping, however installing CWM or any other custom recoveries will trip knox.
My question is, once I've rooted using towelroot method and then install clockwork's rom manager off play store then install recovery through it, will they still trip knox?
Also what if I just use rom manager to install custom roms without instslling the recovery? Is that possible? I so badly want custom roms but I cannot risk knox. Please advice....

A: You will trip KNOX this way as well.
Q: What if I just use rom manager to install custom roms without installing the recovery? Is that possible?
A: Use Mobile Odin Pro instead. ROM Manager uses an existing recovery to install ROMs, without a recovery it is not possible. Check this link out.

Thank for your detailed reply!
I got the mobile odin pro now.
I want miui rom but wonikas miui has custom kernel. It will trigger knox right?
Any other miui rom without custom rom? Or is there way to install miui rom with stock kernel?
Or does miui require custom kernel to work?
All Miui Roms require a custom kernel so you will definitely trip knox.
Go for it
If you decide to go for it do youself a favor: Flash TWRP recovery.
Take a look at [TOOL/UTILITY][TWRP][ 2.7][RECOVERY] TWRP 2.7.2.x TeamWin Recovery Project 7/5
You will not regret it.

New to Note 3 - Some questions please

Hey all!
I just bought a Note 3 9005 (LTE) version.
I would like to root it, install a custom recovery and flash a custom rom or keep the stock if I like it in the meantime.
==> What should I know? What is that Knox? How to root? flash CWM/TWRP? etc...
The phone is used and doesn't have any warranty so I don't care about software Knox counter or anything similar in case it DOESN'T affect anything hardware in the phone or doesn't hinder the usage of the phone!
Note: BTW what S5 rom would you recommend me?
Thank you!
Damn 78 views and no single reply... that's really sad!
I thought you would welcome me and help me!
You have many posts to read how to root....and for 5S you have 2 roms...
Because spoon feeding sucks.
What you are asking, is answered on the web in the millions. And besides, it won't hurt you if you do some reading on your own. Stop being lazy.

As you don't care about Knox, you can use CF-Auto Root. It is considered a easy way to root. I personally use CWM recovery.
Regarding custom ROM I have no idea.

- Hey
- Welcome!
- Then do just that
- You will trip KNOX - KNOX is a warranty counter than allows the phone to use Samsung KNOX services as well as your warranty status - Flash TWRP in recovery and let it root your phone.
- If you don't care about warranty you don't have to care for KNOX. You can happily flash any kernels and ROMs without hesitation.
- Use RC-Elite's S5 port, others are not supported by the devs anymore.
- You're welcome!
Just flash any rom (I prefer MultiX) and enjoy all the beauty of android
