When u use front camera, you dont need to reach shutter button on the screen with your finger. just put your finger on the heart rate sensor then when you release finger phone takes a photo.

I would also love this feature!!

Yea me2 ..I was just thinking about this feature ...and to work with both cameras ...
And another trick from note 4 ...fingerprint shortcut
Would be awesome anyway

I think u can open some apps (u choose which one )
Just by swiping /using your fingerprint sensor /button
And u can choose for each finger an app
If samsung care about us ) will share with us some of note 4 features .but I doubt about that ..

You can just use voice control to take a picture, just turn on voice control in camera settings and say "cheese", picture taken.
You can even use the volume key to take a picture.

I'm using the voice command

I can't believe Samsung didn't think of this for the S5, my friend just showed me he can do it on his Note 4 and I was expecting my phone to do the same!

Any update?

any update, i think this function will be updated on rom 5.1.hi

No way... They never added it and it's now 2017...
Even in roms the developers port everything except the camera app stays the same (stock with no heartrate picture taking)...

We don't even need the heart rate thing to take pictures. Just use voice control for hands free selfies.

iPhone 4S has AE/AF Lock - I wish we had too.

Even though I suggested my GF to get the iPhone 3GS and 4S, I'm not a fan of iOS or any iDevice for that matter - I just don't like the lack of flexibility without jailbreaking.
Still, Apple has been able to do it over and over again, they find some missing feature, and nail it. They just implement it perfectly.
This time it's the AE/AF Lock.
I wish SGS II had this as an option, this would prove so useful with the autofocus problems it is having. And ofc it's a great feature both for still images and video.
If anyone knows about any fixes/patches/way to get this done on android/sgsII - This is the place to share!
The exposure lock will be available to apps in ICS .. i am hoping Google implementation of ICS camera will carry it too.
Keeping my fingers crossed ... i honestly feel the camera module on SGSII deserves better camera app capabilities
Could not agree more. I was freaked when realizing that it's not possible at all on our phone. Always liked that about camera+ from the apple app store

The SGSII has AF/AE lock. What drugs are you on? To AF/AE lock both at once, just hold down the shutter button on the screen. You will hear the beep and the focus box will go green. Now the AF/AE is locked you can pan the camera around and you'll see the focus is locked and the exposure doesn't change. Now you just let go of the shutter button and the SGSII will take the photo.
If you want just AF lock, you tap on the area of the screen that you want to focus at and you'll hear the beep with the box going green. Now you can move the camera around and you'll see that the focus is locked but AE is still active and adjusting the exposure. To take a photo in this mode, you tap the shutter button. If you hold the shutter button down instead, it refocuses and goes into AF/AE lock.
I've had this feature ever since I bought my SGSII in May.

It DOES work on video mode. SGS II has had this feature since day one. Stock Video Camera app just doesn't implement it. If you're a developer, it's easy to add to your app.
Here's a video I made testing no auto-focus & no auto-exposure for the SGS II...although this is for my private video recording app, not released & probably never will be.

Hi! That's amazing. Are you sure you can't share this app? It's the only thing missing from the whole android world at the moment.
I would enjoy paying for an app capable of this. And many people like me.
No kidding this would be awesome for some creative video making.

[PORTING][Devs needed] Possible Port of Note2 Camera

Hi
I am wondering if it would be possible to port the Galaxy Note II Camera app with all its functions like burst mode, best shot, best group pose among all the other effects available..
I have tried to port it my sefl and gotten as far as the camera opens but force closes after a second or two, i have also tried all the note 2 camera apps for the SGS3 and no go, i am including the nessesary files in a zip HERE
So what do u think, would u like the Note 2 camera on our Note 1??
+1 Would like to have these options too, even though our camera wont take the pictures as fast as Note 2..

Our camera sucks compared to Note 2. So deal with it.
I guess it would be cool. But as stated above our camera is worse to note 2. So lets not mess with it much

We know the camera in the og note is worse than note 2, but still, we would like more features
You can't increase the Software-Performance so much, because the Hardware isn't good enough
But anyways, it would be very cool

I also agreed. Note 2 camera is much better than the Note 1. Specially GroupPose option is awesome.
If anyone can be ported GroupPose fearture would be nice.

But then all off you, why can our camera be blazing fast with other camera apps on Google Play?
Like this, the millisecond that i press the camera button the camera shoots..
Fast Burst Camera
So i dont buy that nonsense of u saying that it camt perform..
It's all in the softwares commuciation against the hardware..

Is there any mod for the Nexus 7 to enable motion gesture, like going to a next picture with a handwave.

hey i m not sure that nexus 7 has proximity :|
anyway u can find some apps that do this with another sensor like front camera or light sensor
wave alarm
sensor music player
and maybe u will find sth for album
:good:
If you mean like some of the samsung devices where you wave your hand in front of the screen and it scrolls and stuff like that. I don't think the N7 has those sensors/hardware to do that. I think at best you actually need to touch the screen, as the only other way to do it would be kinnect style (via the front end camera which wouldn't do much good anyways).

Camera settings - mods (without root)

Hi, is there a way to enable saturation control on this phone? or maybe shutter speed? some mod? some apk?
Also smooth-motion, is this another fake 1080p like the LG G2 60 fps option? which actually shot in 720p (upscaled) and does the digital stabilization works along with the OIS in this mode?
I'd like to add one topic to the wishlist: A FOCUS INDICATOR !
Just all digital cameras tell you if the autofocus worked - by changing the color of the reticle, by a sound - just the Note 4 does NOT tell you if it's autofocus succeeded or not.
So no one?

Erm... Am I talking Suaheli ?
OF COURSE it tries to lock the focus, but that's not the point.
There's NO indication if the focus lock was successful (picture focused, sharp) or if the focus lock failed (picture still unfocused, blurred). There's no indication by the Note 4, while other digital cameras output an audio signal, a beep, or change the color of the focus reticle (e. g. green for success, red for a focus failure) if the focus lock was successful.
Nothing of that with the Note.
So no one has any option to control shutter speed?
Camera being a system app, I don't think it's moddable (I know that's not a word) without root. You can install a different cam app though.

But often custom camera aps have terrible processing, the reason why i never install cyanogen on my phones
Maybe i will decide to root, but even with root, i don't see an option (mod or apk) to manually control the shutter speed?

It does pop up with use close up text that you have to press. But that isn't available for 108MP, just 1:1 and Full Options.
Still needs improvements though, its nowhere near comparable to super macro mode on Mate 20Pro

Just heads up, small bug after updating is that fingerprint animation is off-center, other than that it actually seem faster.

I am pretty satisfied with the SQ but only find the bass to be lacking. Is this improved with the update?
Sound quality is GREAT with the ATE6 Update! Fingerprint unlock is faster, smoother and there is now an option to disable the stupid ripple effect!
Upload photos if anyone has the update.
Has anyone with a G9880 TGY Hong Kong version get the update yet??
Close-up zoom doesn't sound like a fix. Sounds like a it's just doing a crop, causing you to move the phone further from your subject, into the focus range. I guess it's a convenience for not having to crop or zoom in to the photo afterwards. Or just manually invoking zoom before taking the shot.
