A few questions about the Froyo Beta on Kies

Hey - was wondering if anyone knew the answer to these questions.
1. Will upgrading to the Froyo Beta via Kies break the guarantee?
2. Will you lose all apps and their settings installed upon upgrading?

To answer the second first. Yes you will need to do a factory reset and clear the cache so all apps and settings will go. You don't have to but you will get lots of FC's which will make the phone almost unusable until you do.
As for your first question. In the UK I just pressed update and it did so I do not see how it can be called a Beta build. I would say it is an upgrade for UK users but for yourself I do not know.

I've heard of apps that can backup your applications and settings - is there any which is better than the rest?
Or would this not be recommended because of the leap from Eclair to Froyo?

Have a look at the 2.2 update thread. It was mentioned there that you should not restore some of the settings as they are not compatible. Best to do a full fresh install I think.

i'll rather wait for the full release.
don't want to be reinstalling 120+ Apps again in just a few days
good thing is, i keep everything in my AppBrain account, so it's simple click to install all again
still you have to accept each of the 120+ Apps for them to install... 120+ x2 clicks.... that's a lot of clicking...

Launcher Pro Problems

Just received my unlocked Dell Streak with froyo pre-installed. Everything seems good. Installed Launcher Pro as I use that as my main and started logging into my accounts (Twitter & Facebook) thru Launcher Pro. Twitter went thru just fine. Face book keeps giving me an error when I try to log in. I can't even get to the point where it allows me to enter my loging & password. It just gives me an error saying: "the server failed to communicate, please try again later" Works on my other android devices. Anyone have any ideas what this can be? Thanks guys.

same problem i had before.because of dell webpage redirect error.now i update new ver-12821. every thing working perfect.

Had a feeling you were gonna say something like that... Did you do the install from a fix somewhere or did you do an offical update to the rom within the device..? Thanks.

had the same proble.
Cant login to FB via tweetdeck,F+ and LauncherPro
my solution was
1. Use WiFi
2. Clear all data on browser (cache,cookies,etc).
that ought to do it.

Had the same issue until I installed the official BB-318 v12821 of froyo and now I have no problems. Which version of 2.2 was pre-installed on your Streak Raspster?

It had GAUSB1A131900 (build #: 12332) And I hit up the links provided from streaksmart from here:

Did this from my streak, it downloaded and installed without even doing anything. Was like an official update even thou when I clinked on the update software in settings it did nothing. Everything works fine. It didn't even wipe the phone. Just updated it. Thanks again guys.

Starting with xcd 35
Your mobile is now in factory condition with Non Root access.
So first try to get the feel of having a rooted device.
Advantage is that you will be elevated to a super user(term in linux for an admin user) - google how to Root zte blade, u will see a modaco link for that. Do that first and once u get a hang of having a rooted device proceed on to Installing Recovery, then a new ROM

The last stock update for blade is 2.2. And I'm not sure whether 2.3 stock will be available to blade or not.
But u can always have customised 2.3 AOSP roms.

actually i used z4root and i rooted permanently then i installed 2-3 recovery app one by one which showed me error that my phone isn't rooted yet...
Update :: Whew ! finally rooted phone using z4root modified version and recovery manager is also installed...
please guide me for further steps

Final Update :: finally got to install canyon mode 7.1.0 rc1 working on cell.... please tell me if there is any rom which is similar to android 2.3.4

Try Ginger Stir Fry presently version 26, very stable and good for daily use. And lot of people use it and post issues about it (also check modaco).. lot of support available.
Then there is elitemovil, LOT OF OPTIONS..... definitely worth a try. am going to jump into that after using gsf.

tried elite movil....
its almost same as the stock android 2.2 with missing stats bar...
will try gsf..
found canyonmode the best it have many features but the theme ins't good..
i just want to know how can i check which theme will be for which rom :-?
update :-o ... quite shocking... package missing task manager , call log :-?
how can i remove the inbuilt apps which i don't need :-?
cell isn't allowing me to delete the apk files from system/apps

I remember task manager is a stock app of zte blade. No wonder if u find it missing in custom roms.
Removing /system/apps requires rooting. Use "titanium backup" or "root uninstaller" applications to remove those system apps. Those are the GUI tools for uninstalling system apps. You can also do it with command-line adb shell from a PC.

i have installed z4root and permanently rooted my device [XCD 35 GEN 2]
now when i try to install clockwise recovery using rom manager i get an error 'an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands'
i was following the guide [wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/ZTE_Blade_%28Gen2%29:_Root_and_Recovery]but i didnt got the option to 'app root permission'
please guide me

I used rom manager app to install clockwise, google for it you will get it.....
i found it waste to have custom rom... nothing new in them, would like to wait for official dell xcd35 android release...
currently i am runnning stock android with adw luncher ex, quite enjoying.
i got a whole new look on my device....
need one question to be answered..
is there anyway app or way which could stop apps from opening automatically in background ? and few exception app doesnt get closed when i run kill all in task manager :-?

i normally dont fiddle with these roms but on official 2.2 the volume on headset is very low and its very diff. to listen any song or attend a call ... if this can be sorted out any how then i am happy with froyo

i dont think updating rom will solve this issue..
even i am facing low volume issue..
i think the speaker is not that strong... if there is any unlock you get for headset volume and speaker volume as well let me know...

Ad Hoc WiFI problem
Hi, I also use a xcd35, with stock rom 2.2, 512 MB.
I have realised that I cant share my laptop Vista Internet as programs like connectify will only create Ad Hoc connections and Android 2.2 wont detect the same.. Various forums suggests replacing wpa_supplicant.. wonder if anyone has done it and how far it was successful..

citymapper crashing up on startup

hi guys,
I'm in real trouble here. I live in london and I use this citymapper on a daily basis more than I use whatsapp lol... now I'm at a loss because it closes on start up. I did update it to the latest version and that's when it started.
my solution is possibly having someone with a note 4 and 4.4.4 make a backup with titatnium and uplaoding it for me, so I can install the latest version from google play then wipe and restore data from your working update. would that be a solution? I've done something similar with whatsapp+ which is how I thought of it.
I've been in contact with citymapper but to be completely honest they are just like, is your phone rooted, what version etc etc. I asked them to do the above but no reply yet... and I doubt I'll get one...
is someone able to help me out or possible tell me how to resolve my problem?

on a side note I'm really trying not to re-install or wipe everything, it's a real task to bring my phone back to my liking's.

I had the same issue with version 4.6. Simply uninstall the latest version of the app and install earlier version. This is what I did. Use Aptoide and look for Citymapper 4.5

cheers bro. I ended up upgrading to newer version. lost xposed for now so upsetting lol but atleast citymapper is working

Android 7 (B577) on AL10 - Update via hiapp

Upgraded to 7 using the hiapp and it seems ok. (I quite like the interface)
I have 2 issues, one new and one continuing
Launcher - I used the Google launcher in android 6 it worked fine (I didn't like not having an app draw)
Now I've upgraded I've noticed that the phone doesn't like the Google launcher. I'll set it to the default launcher and it will work fine for a bit then for what seems like no reason EMUI is back!
Is this just me ?
Bluetooth - is still dreadfully twitchy
Smart unlock on my LG urbane watch works sometimes
My girlfriend thinks I now shout 'fuc#### phone' instead of saying goodbye when I'm using handsfree in the car.
Phone still seems fast, using gboard as keyboard after I found the standard keyboard would stutter now and Again
Still think it's a great phone

To use Launcher drawer, change SETTINGS-->HOME SCREEN STYLE to drawer and you can use the Launcher with drawer.
BT is still f*&^% cant help with that

I did not try the one you posted, but u mean go into TWRP, factory defaults lets say and then flash the rom? Does this work? Because most 7.0 based roms produce errors due to twrp not being official. Cause im having problems with kangvip and play store. On some apps it works OK but in others it says that i need to authenticate my account. LOL This is a known bug for devices without play store by default but I never found the solution. I tried all the delete data/cache uninstall updates etc but nothing works.

I don't know what would be the effect to return from KangVip to "normal" B577 just the way you suggest.
I did it but I returned to the eRecovery version first. Strange thing is that my version still shows B575.
I have the same problem with Google Play but only when I try to install a new app. All apps that I ever installed with my account, also bought apps, can be installed without problem and also updated. If I install a new app with another phone and clear Google Play Store cache and data, I can install also on my Mate 8.
I also Googled hours to find a solution but it is all about clear data/cache, install latest version etc. but no cure.
With a totally new Google account, no problem to install whatever I want.

Wow, that's uber weird! I thought I only had the problem. If only there was an international rom prerooted I would go there for sure. I guess we wait.

There is no need to check that. Im too bored to transfer my contacts to a new account The problem is the same for sure.
