Solved :) .. Need Bit More Info other than upgrade - Blade General

Hello Every one
I am new using android, i don't know much about it.
Few months back i bought DEll XCD 35 running with Android 2.2...
whats the latest version i can upgrade it to ?
where i can get it ?
and how can i begin the upgrade [some guidance so i don't do wrong upgrade ]
I am ready to pay to get help fast
Thanks,
Rahul
look at bottom post for my question

Starting with xcd 35
Your mobile is now in factory condition with Non Root access.
So first try to get the feel of having a rooted device.
Advantage is that you will be elevated to a super user(term in linux for an admin user) - google how to Root zte blade, u will see a modaco link for that. Do that first and once u get a hang of having a rooted device proceed on to Installing Recovery, then a new ROM
hope this helps.. I am new user in xda so i cant post links... sorry

The last stock update for blade is 2.2. And I'm not sure whether 2.3 stock will be available to blade or not.
But u can always have customised 2.3 AOSP roms.

thanks for replying....
can u please tell me which rooting app should i use ?
actually i used z4root and i rooted permanently then i installed 2-3 recovery app one by one which showed me error that my phone isn't rooted yet...
Update :: Whew ! finally rooted phone using z4root modified version and recovery manager is also installed...
please guide me for further steps
Edited :: installing clockwise recovery using rom manager...
Final Update :: finally got to install canyon mode 7.1.0 rc1 working on cell.... please tell me if there is any rom which is similar to android 2.3.4

Try Ginger Stir Fry presently version 26, very stable and good for daily use. And lot of people use it and post issues about it (also check modaco).. lot of support available.
Then there is elitemovil, LOT OF OPTIONS..... definitely worth a try. am going to jump into that after using gsf.

I remember task manager is a stock app of zte blade. No wonder if u find it missing in custom roms.
Removing /system/apps requires rooting. Use "titanium backup" or "root uninstaller" applications to remove those system apps. Those are the GUI tools for uninstalling system apps. You can also do it with command-line adb shell from a PC.

i dont think updating rom will solve this issue..
even i am facing low volume issue..
i think the speaker is not that strong... if there is any unlock you get for headset volume and speaker volume as well let me know...

Ad Hoc WiFI problem
Hi, I also use a xcd35, with stock rom 2.2, 512 MB.
I have realised that I cant share my laptop Vista Internet as programs like connectify will only create Ad Hoc connections and Android 2.2 wont detect the same.. Various forums suggests replacing wpa_supplicant.. wonder if anyone has done it and how far it was successful..

[Q] Latest version?

Hi my Wildfire is rooted and I have Wildpuzzle running on it.I have a couple of questions, how can I find out if I have the latest version of a ROM? I know there are many differant versions, but how can I see if mine is up to date? Is there any kind of time stamp or date that I can look for?
The next thing is that I have the app setCPU but the rom I have does not seem to support overclocking so do I need to flash a new rom or can I just flash a differant Kernel that supports over clocking?
Next I seem to be running out of space on my sd card, I have the app ROM manager but I do not see an option for deleting files from the sd card.Is the only way to do it by connecting the phone to a pc and delete the files that way?
Thanks for looking
1.Go to seettings>About phone>software information.
there you can find the software version where you can see the ROM version.
2.just flash a kernal which supports overcloaking.
3.download any file managers.there are lot avalible on market.
To find the latest version, check back in your rom's thread from time to time... the latest update is shown by the date. For cm7, check out the teamdouche mirror for nightlies.

OK I did a nandroid backup and have flashed Wildpuzzle ROM V8 then restored everything using Titanium backup and everything seems good but now Android market is not working.A box pops up saying the application process Android Market has stopped working please try again.
Must I uninstall it? Then where do I re-install from?Any ideas why this has stopped working?I think its something to do with the initial phone set up and registering with google but I cant rember how the phone was originally set !
Any ideas?
Thanks again.
Edit I must stop panicking.I went to Menu>settings>applications>Manage applications, then found Market and cleared cache and cleared data and its now working OK

Stop using the old wildpuzzle rom which has that bug, and use the new wildpuzzle.
Don't know why you're even using that version when it got abandoned when official froyo came out.

Hi I switched from the Wildpuzzle Rom I was using to what I thought was a newer one to use over clocking. I thought I had moved from v4 to v8 I went to the thread on this board and downloaded what I thought was the latest version. Now I`m confused any link to the latest version?
This is the one I downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877243
This is where I downloaded from 0001_WildPuzzleROM_v0.8.zip: Main (Norwegian), Mirror (US)
It was ok til I downloaded this one which I thought was the latest
Any pointers greatly appreciated thanks
Yes, what you have now (WildPuzzle 2.2.1 v0.8) is the latest.

Hi i am new here and to new to android . I want to flash my xperia x10 form the stock software to 2.2 or higher. I have read most of the guides and am still unsure which rom and baseband to use. I am running Ubuntu 10.
thanks
I would suggest Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3, it's fast and stable, and looks nice =)
It is also easy to install since it needs baseband .54, which you can get it from the .435 stock firmware directly.

i would have to agree that Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 would be the rom of choice. It is super stable and quite fast too.
You will need to root your phone, and then install xRecovery. Then you can install ROMS from the xRecovery menu.
Root using superoneclick and then copy the xRecovery APK to your phone and install it. Download the ROM files and copy them to your SD card, reboot into xRecovery and follow the ROM installation steps (backup all your stuff on your phone first - i suggest My Backup Root (from the market) - provided you have rooted it already). If you want to try different basebands, i have included a link for them too.
As for doing all this from ubuntu - i think you will need to be running a Windows VM or find another pc that has Windows installed, i tried from Ubuntu myself but it was just easier from a Winblows machine.

I'm also kind of a noob, but I really want to make this stuff work...
I took this thread as a base, I currently have the 2.1 official update on my X10. So far I used the superclick tool and it said it rooted my phone (how can I make sure it worked?)
Then I downloaded the stuff and run the xRecovery app, it said it granted some superuser thing, but then I see nothing else...
Any help appreciated, specially if I skipped some steps maybe?
if you want to check if you are rooted, intall titanium backup and see if the app runs. If it does, then you've got root.
I didnt get what you wanted to ask in the second part of your question though..
I was missing an app from the market
Ok I got it working
So far I'm testing this new stuff...woah, amazing.
Any recommendations of things (ROMs) I should try?
p.s. I got no signal and WiFi won't turn on... I guess this is normal?
@ aR_ChRiS and mrtim123
Second that Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 is one of the most complete 2.2 roms. But you'll want to look up post on how to:
- root your phone
- install xRecovery (requires busybox), and how to use it
In case if you "brick" your phone or get stuck in a boot loop, look up for "flashtool".
Hope this helps.

How do you get it to the right setting? and someone told me it drains your battery. is this true?
Yes battery life isn't that great but acceptable for me.
~24 hours under medium usage
~12-15 hours under heavy use
You need to have your focus setting set to infinity to have better audio sync.
To be honest I don't think the camcorder is up to average user's standard, but camera works just fine.
Things I like from this rom are:
- improved performance (very few lags, things run much smoother than stock 2.1 especially when texting)
- android 2.2 apps & features (gmail 2.3, flash, JIT...)
- no random reboots
- the unlock slider does not lag after the screen is off for awhile
Known issues to my knowledge:
- incomplete camcorder
- no live wallpaper
In case you haven't noticed tho, devs here have figured out a way to bypass x10's bootloader. This will enable us to load custom kernels.
All the roms here before the breakthrough are only built on top of the stock 2.1 kernel. That's causing some limitations in developing custom roms (issues such as having a working driver for x10 camera)
So if u can wait for a bit I'm sure there will be better roms (with android 2.3) coming in the next couple months! And Sony has announced there will be official 2.3 upgrade coming possibly during this summer.
However I've been using wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 for over a month now, would really recommend it if ur not that into video recording lol

[Q] CM7

Just installed "CyanogenMod-7 for ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) :: V7.0.0-RC4 (30/03/2011)"
Firstly, many thanks for making this great rom. Instructions very easy to follow, even I could do it (my first smart phone, only had it 5 days so yes, it’s all very new to me).
Anyway, can someone please help me? On my old Orange rom, when sending a text (which is what I do a lot of) my “send to many logo” is missing from the CM7 rom (see pics). How can I get this back? It's driving me nut!
Try Another SMS App Like GOSMS or Handcent SMS
Rebooting and Battery usage
My zte with CM7 seems to use alot more battery than the original ROM i had. anyone else?
It will also reboot when the battery is lower than 30%. anybody know why?
The current CM7 rom is faulty, don't flash it....i'm also waiting for a more stable one. This rom is not so reactive to accelerometer so if you play games such as doodlejump, it won't work so don't flash the rom, instead you can flash this froyo, it's quite fast as well ! FLB froyo R11
Gen2

Just flashed my Blade to Gen 2 yesterday and installed CM7 Gen2 .
On previous CM7 Final Gen 1, I had reboots and freezing on boot screen but
have had no issues since the new installation. Plays games very well.

Edit: Just upgraded CM7 to 7.0.2 and on reboot phone was stuck on boot screen and had no arrow
to swipe nor would menu button work other than to put phone in standby. Had to uses stock recovery to get cm7 to load and now
cannot get beyond the the Droid screen when trying to restore/backup. Will not enter clockwork recovery no matter what I try.
Can load CM7 basic but no google apps and unable to load gapps because I cannot enter clockwork recovery. Can any suggest a way out.
Use rom manager to install the latest clockwork mod

So what's best for now: staying Gen 1 with CM7 v7.0.0 or turning into Gen2 and get v7.0.2 ?

Hi HCDR.Jacob
Me again. Have just found out why I cannot load ClockworkMod Recovery or any other recovery. Ran Androot 1.6 andgot reply, when I tried to unroot - Not Rooted.
So I ran Androot and got the following "Rooted - No - Fu - Goo". Yet Balde is running CM7 . Question is now how do I root the blooming thing or is that a no go?
Please advise.

Hi
Thanks for that but info garnered no where near to solving prob. Managed to find z4Root and ran that and it informs me I am still rooted. Problem is that I cannot access ClockworkMod Recovery and rom manager is stuck on 3.0.2.0 and will not upgrade to 4.2.0.0 which is the latest as far as I can ascertain. Do you know of any way to get ClockworkMod back onto my Blade so that I cam upgrade CM to 7.0.2 and get google apps back.

I just upgraded my ZTE Blade to 7.0.2 using the latest Rom Manager (from 7 RC3) ... now my Blade just keeps booting only showing the Droid Logo for about 4 secs and that loops forever. I wasn't aware of any Gen1 vs. Gen2 thing. And am still not sure what this exactly is.
Is there anyway to fix this, or is the device bricked?
Any ideas? Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated!
Thx.

Just gave you a possible tweak on your thread but please don't just splash your problem onto the other threads, as this is most likely to create confusion. If somebody can help you, he will answer you in the right thread: the one you opened.
Also a first look at similar topic or a quick search would have avoided this kind of situation. Even the first guide for flashing a custom ROM on the OSF clearly states a warning on the Gen1/Gen2 thing...

anyone has issues like this?

Autonomy issues have already been widely reported for 7.0.2, most people I have read from went back on CM7.0 stable because of that.
For the menu, this might be a new issue. Perhaps check on CM7 forum to see if it has been reported yet and whether a fix has been found yet.

Beta Test for BootManager(multi-boot app)

We've gotten alot of response from the Desire community so thank you all for your help. At this time we do not need any more testers for the desire. BootManager should be updated with support for the Htc Desire in the next few days. The app currently won't support rom's that use apps2sd and data2sd but our team is working on getting support for those as well. Thanks.
Hey guys my team has developed an app called bootmanager which went into the market today. The app let's you install rom's to your sdcard and boot between them. I had originally done an inc only version here that used your recovery for installing rom's. The new app installs the rom's directly through the app and then let's you boot between them. Anyway on to the point of this post...i'm looking for 1 or 2 beta testers to add support for the desire. You'll need a little knowledge of adb, root of course, and just a little bit of patience. So far has worked pretty well on every htc device wev'e tried so I'm confident we can add support for the desire as well. You can get a little more info about the app from the link in my sig or looking at it in the market. If your interested pm me so I can get the info needed for the desire(.i.e partition sizes and a few other things that i'll tell you how to find in adb) and I'll send the apk for you to try. Thanks for your help....
Very interesting app! Would hboot have to be compatible (ie right size) with all the installed roms or as they are installed to SD does it not matter?

by hboot your refferring to the bootloader? This doesn't change the bootloader. It makes img's on your sdcard which hold your system/data/cache files for the rom, then it edits the boot.img for that rom to point to those img's when booting. Then the app flashes the boot.img for the rom you want to boot too.
I would be very interested in trying this out as I pretty much change my ROM on a daily to weekly basis haha, I just can't stop! This would be a good way to nurture my need for all the ROMs I switch between all of the time.
Would this app work on a non rooted phone? I mean having the stock ROM in the phone and a rooted one on the SDcard. But I guess it wouln't...

No you need an unlocked bootloader to switch the boot.img. And root to do a number of other things involved in setting up the rom.

Oh I tried MIUI-XJ, it's nice to know that you're happy with it ^^ I used it for about three to four days and felt that I was using an iPhone more so than an Android and I prefer the feel/look of Android devices... I loved being able to theme it so easily, though. I like the transparency mods in NeoPhyte ROMs and bits and pieces of many others... I should just figure out how to make my own.
I hope that you got my response, Conap! My sent items folder said I hadn't sent anything but I am most positive that I did so I will wait to hear back from you =D.

Should we run the update after the rom has been installed, so it updates the boot.img ? Haven't tried running the update.zip directly from bootmanager yet, but works fine from recovery.
Installed MIUI-108050 on my HTC Desire (stock boot/S-ON)

all will fail with this dialog appear "does this rom support ext2?" , and the i can only press 'okay' , then it will clean itself....
whats wrong herre?
maybe not compatible with sense based rom? cuz according to the replies here, only aosp roms seem to work

[Q] Anyone want to make me a custom ROM?

I have tried searhing and I havent found anything like this, so I hope im not in trouble for asking...
Has anyone made or would like to make a custom sense rom with just a few extra apps?
The main reason I am asking is because you cannot access a file manager by downloading from windows to you sd card (you have no option to either download from Andriod Market or using the sync, which doesnt work for me)
Basically I looking for a ROM that is exactly like HTC Sense but has a file manager and a few other apps by default...
Like the ultra bright torch app and the you tube and Iplayer app.
You can alsways use roms that are already out there, but you usually loose the widgets the come with the stock HTC Sense, plus I miss the facebook streams.
Anyways, the main app it need installed is the superuser app and a good (free) file manager, anyone wish to help or comment?
Also, my phone is rooted with the HBoot 001 version, and I have heard roumours that if you upgrade to 2.2.2 then you can no longer root your phone, and since i am getting into hacking and rooting the widfire, I really dont want to loose the functions!
I hope this will start a healthy thread, as most of my threads dont!
Thanks, Keith
you can sideload apps from windows to your phone using sideloader machine for example
- If you are on HBoot 1.01.0001, you already are on Android 2.2.1 (There is no 2.2.2). While official 2.2.1 was not rootable some months back, after the release of AlphaRev / Revolutionary, it is possible.
- Apps can be installed via ADB also. One such guide is here:
http://voxigee.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/using-adb-to-install-applications/
And a Video Tutorial here:

- Also, Stock Froyo ROM with Superuser can be found here: (Get the Rooted Version). After you install this, you can install the File Manager using the guides above.

- Lastly, for such a simplistic ROM Creations, you can use the DSIXDA Kitchen to cook a ROM yourself. Its easy, and you can add and remove exactly what you want.

Good Luck
