Is sensitivity adjustable? My phone is constantly calling people on my contact list, or texting them paragraphs of jibberish. And jumps around from screen to screen "on it's own".
When I take it out of the case,it's awake, and it's on any one of who knows what page. And my apps are moved around, like I held my finger on one of the apps on my home page and dragged it to another page (panel)
When I turn the phone on, or take it out of the case, almost always the big weather and time app is gone from my home page. I have to find it, and drag it back home.
Before I put my phone in my belt case, . . . because I'm having this problem . . .
1). I turn off all apps. (Hold the select button down a few seconds. Then swipe off all open apps.)
2). I make sure it's on the main desktop page, and put it to sleep. (Press OFF button for a second. Screen is black) So the page that should come up when I wake it up should be my home page. And if it's accidentally bumped or presses the awake button while in my case, (?) it should be on home page, not on message page, or phone page. Or trying to log me into Google!
But it's getting turned on, and apps selected, etc. while it's in the case. Sometimes it's actually turning off, then back on. I hear it chiming during the bootup.
The case was made for the phone. Fits perfectly. Leather. And there's no way I'm bumping the side of the case, hitting the on button.
When it does this, sometimes it's on my messaging/texting page, and somehow selects someone to text. And is either recording whatever it's "hearing", or it types long paragraphs of jiberish text.
Any ideas? TIA! Wayne
does it do it on it's own?
When left overnight untouched, or left on table for awhile?
As far as I know the only way to physically wake the phone up is either press side power button or center home button and maybe the case is causing the phone to wake and register commands. Another possibility is voice commands, are those on?
otherwise there is a program that causes all the trouble. Once you know whats causing the issue, the fix should be simple.
I think screen sensitivity can only be adjusted up, for glove use, but that makes me think you suspect case being at the root of this, so either try different case, or lock the screen with password or something more difficult to activate by accident.
My friend "butt call me" at least 3 times from his iphone, but I never had this issue with Note3 since I have to press one of the buttons and then properly swipe the screen, within few seconds, not easy to do accidently .
And judging from your post, do you have your screen lock set to nothing ? So it's easy to wake the phone and do unintended touches, even in a case.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. As far as I know I don't have my screen locked to anything.
No idea actually.
What I did find is that the sensitivity feature was turned on. I turned that off.
Then I turned off the voice function.
Tried that. No better.
So I set a password. That works. BUT . . . now I can't find where I turned off the voice rec.
And I've really tried finding it. Now I can't use voice for texting. The mic icon is gone from
my text menu.

I love my Piel-Frama case. I got the cowskin in blue.

However, the cover activates the touch screen. I was talking to my boss while walking down the street, and it made a note the call history that looked like a hand giving him the finger.
How do you guys deal with covers that touch the touchscreen? If I have a bluetooth headset, I want to walk and talk but the screen goes crazy!
this can't be an unusual problem. i must be missing something easy and simple. If your case covers the screen of your phone, and you are walking and talkng on your bluetooth wireless headset, doesn't the touchscreen get activated by your case!??!
Lock the device before putting it in the case..
Locking the device involves a password. I toggle the device off with the off button (not completely off -screen off) but it must be that the off button gets activated by the case as well, cuz often when I open it back up I have flipped screens and drawn notes by walking...am I the only one with this problem?

Buddy, read your Tytn's manual. Nobody advises you to lock your device with a password/number combination. That would be time-based. Many people here including me don't just press the off button to switch the display off but use the default (or third party app) devicelock functionality. You can even use this as a today screen plugin. Press it and once off your device will only accept input via on-button and an unlock-button afterwards on the todayscreen.
Of course people prevent their phones from making accindental phonecalls etc. You should have noticed that function from beginning on however, because this is a default today plugin when you're using your device for the very first time.
Good luck
OK, i had a hard case for the last 8 months and switched to a soft one. At some point I had taken out that lock button thing. It's kind of small to activate, but, I'll live with it
I've searched and searched for this, using quite a number of search words and combinations, but with no luck.
I would like my Touch HD to remain asleep during reminders, and only when I press the power button to wake up the phone will I see the balloon message at the bottom.
I would like this because, sometimes, when I pull the phone out of its case on my belt, and while doing so the screen is already on because of a reminder, part of the case can accidentally touch either part of the screen or one of the softkeys. This often causes the unit to load another program.
I'd prefer it if the unit stayed asleep during reminders. That way I have full control, and don't need to worry if something touches the screen while I'm pulling it out of its case.
Can this be done?
Thanks,
Peter
feel lag on when is unlocking. did any one having a same problem with me??
please delete this post...
The unlock swipe would lag for the following reasons:
1. Your wifi was turned on but is off because of screen being off. You turned on the screen which makes the phone re-enable wifi and connect to a network. This process will lag the swipe animation.
2. You used some kind of app (ie. JuiceDefender) that would disable APN (3G) when your screen is off. Turning the screen on again will make the phone to try to reconnect to 3G and this will also lag the swipe animation.
3. You just turned on your phone and because things are still loading at startup, doing the swipe will lag.
Tip: Try to wait for 5 seconds after turning the screen on and then do the swipe motion. It should go back to normal.
If none of that applies to you, do a factory reset =)
this is my second time to hard reset it but still the same.
I often find that swiping doesn't unlock the phone; the arrow won't go all the way to the edge of the screen (it sometimes just stops halfway). When that happens, I press the power button to lock the screen, then try the process again. 9 times out of 10 it'll work fine the second time.
This happens when the WiFi is off, and I am not using any APN software, nor have I just switched the phone on.
It doesn't really bother me, unless this happens when a call comes in, and I can't answer it! (it often takes me a few swipes to answer a call, and I have to swipe it slowly and carefully)

you might have a problem with your screen where some parts wont respond to your touch
download any drawing programs " i find magic marker " is the best from the market place. its free. and tap dots all over your screen, if there is/ are parts that doesnt response to your tap from the first time, that means u have problem with the screen and its not accepting your touch input. which is why your swipe doesnt go all the way sometimes.
Yes there is lag on the unlock screen. I see it as just bad programming by SE.

My swype keep changing direction, anyone nows how to set it to a particular side?
@mirdones - it changes sides when you start with your finger at the top of the swipe arc and slide your phone across the screen (left to right or right to left)..
@everyone - my swipe unlock occasionally stops about 3 quarters of the way along.. all I do is re-swipe from where it stopped and it's fine - that said, it doesn't happen as much now that I have stopped using task killers and startup auditor.
I find that instead of a slow swipe more of a flick works well for me.
Does anyone know if its possible to disable the se lock and just use the android one?

...would love to know this too
When I make a call or receive one while talking I notice different apps will open, usually beginning with the world clock??? It seems to be due to touching my face to the screen. Can anyone give me suggestions?? My service provider is Sprint, last phone was a G nexus never experienced this problem with that phone.
I noticed this too. I found out (personal experience) was that it has a ton to do with having a larger screen and not giving the screen time to turn off or pressing the home key so I wouldn't hit the dialer. My solution was a quick tap of the power key to turn off the screen and no more apps popping up.

Thanks', I'll give that a try, guess this must not be a big problem, wonder if it may be an issue with our phones, not all S 4??
There is a setting in my device/call to enable Turn off screen during calls. The only trick with that is trying to access the pull down menu while in a call. You just have to make sure you avoid the proximity sensor so it doesn't turn off the screen.

Hi,
I've found a lot of posts about the second screen but not for the main screen.
I have a LG V20 US996 unlocked and rooted. I also have a case that covers the sides and back.
I usually wear t-shirts with a deep chest pocket (Carhartt) where I keep my phone, screen in. When I'm outside working listening to music on bluetooth headphones (mostly with Poweramp), the main screen randomly turns on. I notice this when the music starts jumping or skipping tracks because my chest is now randomly pressing spots on the main screen. When I look at the phone, what's on the screen is always some random app that started. It doesn't seem to correspond to any notifications as it does it when there are none. The default second screen when the main screen is off is the date and time.
I tried completely disabling the double-tap to turn on and off the main screen (both in the android and Nova Launcher settings) but that didn't help. Nor did making sure the phone was locked as a few seconds later, the main screen would turn on again.
Am I missing any other settings or secret screen presses that might turn the main screen on? If not, does anyone know of an app or Xposed module (if it's available for the V20/Nougat; I haven't checked yet) that might turn off the main screen except when explicitly turned on?
Thanks!

If you're using the second screen, it too can turn the screen on, particularly anything that launches an app or long pressed on something on the second screen. Unless of course you're not using the second screen?

The proximity sensor should turn off the second screen when covered, along with disabling knockon and requiring you to push power button twice just to wake the screen(try this out at home). If for some reason this doesn't occur, you probably have a defective model.
It does appear to function the way you describe. If I double-tap the second screen, it turns on. However, if I cover the proximity sensor, the second screen turns off, double-tapping doesn't turn anything on but as you said, I need to press the power button on the back twice to turn it on.
Every now and then when I peek into my pocket, the second screen is indeed off. I need to pull the phone out enough for the second screen to come back on to see the time. I'm still not sure what might be turning the main screen on while it's in my pocket, though.
