Hello I have a solidoodle 2 and was wondering if anyone had a 3D model for the phone and charging port cover. I have lost the charging port cover and don't want to spend another 20 dollars on one. Also I was thinking about porting the iphone gear case to the galaxy S5. Any help or advice is appreciated.

$20? :You've got to be kidding. The USB port cover costs about $0.75 if you look a bit harder and find a vendor with better pricing.
Perhaps someone will be able to point you to a 3D template for the battery door, but that is an esoteric request. You're a lot more likely to find it with a proper search. Start with Thingiverse and go from there.

I have tried thingiverse and found some cases but none of them include the battery door.
You can't print the flexible part of the charging port cover because ABS would just snap.

That is fine the door itself usually has enough friction to just stick on.
This should do the trick. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-USB-Charger-Dock-Port-Cover-Waterproof-For-Samsung-Galaxy-S5-SV-I9600-G900-/151337912757?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item233c7149b5

Would any of you be interested in a small wrist lanyard or a neck lanyard that would be custom made for the kaiser? I am having some made for me, but I would need to order in bulk, and I don't have the need for more than one
Either way, I just talked to the rep who makes them, and I gave him some specific requests for a custom lanyard that would:
A: Not have any material that could scratch the Kaiser
B: Would have the smallest quick release connector made
C: Would have the smallest strap that would fit around your hand to get on your wrist, thus leaving only the minimal hanging strap when in a case.
D: Would be Black to match the Kaiser
E: Could have custom imprinting on the strap to say.... Kaiser, TytnII, HTC, whatever we would want it to say.. or nothing at all.
Let me know if anyone would be interested. I'm pretty sure the cost would be less than a few bucks... Either way I will be ordering them for myself.
JB
I'd be in for a couple.

RemE: You would be good with the small wriststrap correct?
JB
Yes, and I've liked this type minimal length lanyard for other small things like cameras as well, that's why I'd like a couple.
If you're putting a quick release on it anyway; how about making a wrist strap & a neck lanyard matching pair that has the same connector... easy to switch off between them. I think that'd be cool and worth a few extra bucks.

Check these guys out, they may have what you need already.

Note, thay also make an attachment that threads through any spot meant for a camera type wrist strap. Not sure if the Kaiser has one of these, but it looks like it may from the pictures I have seen.
The thing I like about this system is that you can use the clips with more than one device.
One thing to note though, I tried the Harmony headphones with my 8125, and could only get one side of the headphones working. Seems the 4pin 2.5mm connectors used on the 8125 do not have any type of standard for how they are wired. I am guessing this would not be the case with the Kaiser, but you would need to use the usb to 3.5mm adapter in conjunction with the rivet offerings.

Thanks for the link... but the lanyards they have, use metal adapters and that is what I am trying to avoid. The metal adapters will scratch the device. Not to be too anal, but when you pay 800 for a device, it's always a good idea to keep it in mint condition to have a good resale when the next hot device comes out.
JB
Spend a bit more and get this then...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333707
I'd say it has easily prevented $20 worth of scratches on my wife's iPhone already and it also has just a slightly tackier feel to it, so the phone doesn't slip out of your fingers as easily, although the OP on this link indicates the Kaiser already has a tacky backplate, probably for that very reason.

Thats a great idea as well... But my own reason for wanting a lanyard is to help me pull the device out of the belt case that I use to carry it in... Almost everytime I have dropped a phone, it has been when I am taking it out of the case... With the lanyard on it, It will be easier to pull out, as well as keep it from hitting the ground.
I have been super busy at work, but I will be making the phone call very soon to get the lanyards...
JB
Well... I just finished getting a quote for the lanyards...
Looks like my idea is getting stomped...
The company wants a minimum order of 100 units at 1.52 per unit... That means I would have to dish out 160 dollars... Thats fine with me, but I'm concerned I wouldn't be able to get the money back...
Also, they won't send out one neck lanyard and one wrist lanyard with a cell conector, since it would mean that they would have to have more male connectors than female connectors. So the only way is to order half of the lanyards as 36" and the other half as 12"...
Either way, they are very nice lanyards and I really want a few for myself. If you all think I could get rid of 90 of them then I will go and order them...
Another Idea I had, was to have, "XDA Developers" prnted on the lanyard, and the site can use them as a way to help get donations.... such as selling lanyards for 5 bucks or so...
Gimme some feedback if ya all would please.
JB
I'd pop for 10, short ones.

I take enough pride in my geekness to buy something branded with XDA Developers, but I don't have a need for a lanyard.
It's a pretty good idea though. You may want to get it out to a broader audience via another more general post, as I am sure the interest would apply for other devices as well. Me thinks one of the moderators should be able to help out with this.
Ok, I will order the Lanyards with, "XDA Developers" on the lanyard. The lanyard will be polyester black, and the text will be a dark grey. I'm not into big bright text, I like being low key.
It will be 50 neck lanyards and 50 small wrist lanyards.
I don't think I will have an issue getting them outa my hands.
JB
let me know when you get em - m presumably you take paypal?
I am a bit of a loser for a lanyard!!!

Am I the only one that finds it ridiculous that 2 yrs+ after the Palm Pre debuted with wireless charging, using a device (the Touchstone) that won the 2009 Engadget Best Gadget of the Year award, and some other international design awards, no other phone manufacturer has adopted the technology? The Pre charged very rapidly on the Touchstone. It held the phone in place with magnets (fantastic for use as a car dock), and even angled the phone for excellent viewing angle. Best of all, it did all of this with a replacement cover that added no size to the phone. Palm got it right the first time, why can't anyone duplicate (or license the technology)?!? Here's a video of the Palm Touchstone in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpfQSLBezn4
Rant over.
Perhaps patent issues? Not exactly sure...I started that on my evo before it became cool. Additionally, people aren't taking advantage of the technology, like nfc, so much more can be done with it. Though you just have to let manufacturers get their priorities in order.
Isn't the s3 wireless kit supposed to ship September?
I feel your pain tho, I'm waiting to give them my money too

I disagree it was the only good idea. It was their best, though. I also miss the ability to switch from app to app like shuffling cards, without having to hold the home button down. Pre had the most elegant multitasking/switcher I've yet come across.
There was a very interesting article a month or so ago about the implosion of Palm generally. The consensus seems to be that Verizon helped killed the Pre b/c its sales people were pushing the Droid. Palm didn't/couldn't/wouldn't win over the sales people. If people don't buy the phone, devs don't develop for it, and people don't buy the phone. If Pre could have debuted before the Droid, and didn't have such crappy hardware, it would have had a chance. I still prefer the portrait keyboard to the Droid style. But with Swype and Dragonspeak, I've gotten over needing to have a physical keyboard.

I will wait till September. I'm sure Samsung's wireless charging will be expensive, but can't be as expensive as buying a Pixie and flying to Ohio. On the up side, though, the angled Touchstone beats a flat charging mat......
Thanks for posting!
There has to be some DIY directions out there. The Pixi cover and Touchstones are dirt cheap too. I'd much rather use the Touchstone than a flat "power mat" type thing.
If someone sees instructions, please post. I have 3 Touchstones laying around.
Touchstones for $14 on eBay (with cable and wall plug):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-PALM-TO...pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item337212b899&_uhb=1
You can buy touchstone alone for about $5, but the cable is critical because most third party USB cables did not fit inside the very small back port to the Touchtone.
Palm Pixi Touchstone battery doors are available for $5.40 on eBay (free shipping):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PALM-PI...ries&hash=item3f115d2477&_uhb=1#ht_3218wt_922
Now we just need instructions.

The touchstone is a QI standard inductive charger so it should work right?
This is what the general consensus is, but won't know for sure until we get one. I ordered a couple of them for 5 bucks just in case.

I think it should work, the problem however will be that the Phone won't stay on the touchstone, because the Nexus 4 doesn't seem to have magnets in the back of the device (That beeing said it shouldn't be too hard to mod the touchstone).
It seems like the official Dock uses rubber to make the phone stay in position.

Verge video stated that it does indeed have magnets both in the phone and the charger. The rubber? surface is simply to keep it from scratching.

This is what I had read too. That is does have magnets. Never used a palm pre or anything like this with wireless charging other than my tooth brush. I wonder how strong it is? Like will I notice there is a magnet holding the phone to the wireless dock when I pick it up?

It has been confirmed by Androidcentral's Admin that Touchstone will NOT work on Nexus 4.
It's pretty cool. I hate Samsung's attempts to milk what few Galaxy Nexus users there were by coming up with a different (and super expensive) dock for every possible situation they could think of, instead of making one flexible dock.
Also, why are you buying Touchstones? We don't even know how much the ball costs yet.

People were buying Touchstone docks because they're like $5 and if it turned out they would work, they were afraid the cost would jump up.
And yeah, we DO know how much the ball will cost. $50-55.

It would've been hilarious if the charging portion of the Touchstone worked, but the magnet was flipped so it repelled the Nexus 4.

I bet the coil in the touchstone can be reversed. Still doesn't guarantee it will charge.
Will NOT Work!
I had a GS3 International and got the verizon inductive charging back for it. Worked flawlessly with all Qi compatible transmitter pads like the Energizer ones. However, the Palm Touchstone is NOT Qi compatible. Hence its a no go for the Nexus 4.
I am very interested in the Fatboy pillows though. Are they out for sale yet? The colors are quite interesting compared to the plain black orb from Google.

No, you THINK you know. Until you can provide a link with official pricing details, it's speculation just like everything else. Googles been putting "break-even" prices on all its newest devices, who's to say they won't surprise with a cheaper dock solution too?

So what's your guys opinion on our two options to enable wireless charging
The official Samsung cover adds some substantial bulk to the phone. The other option is something like the qi pad from Tylt that you simple stick under the batery cover with no added bulk.
Does anyone know if one charges the phone fast or anything like that.

Not sure what bulk you are referring to? Pretty sure the charge isn't affected more in either case..
Also, this should be moved to Q&A
Look at the official Samsung back. The back as a whole becomes flush with the camera lens. It appears to be even a bit taller than the camera lens. That's quite a bit of added thickness to the phone imho

The wireless charging back does add several millimeters of thickness to the phone. It is apparently enough that standard cases will not fit. I'm waiting on mine to come in, but OP, here is a long thread discussing options.

Hello everyone!
I have looked in both Amazon and eBay and can't seem to find this but do you guys know if there is a battery bank case out there to add more battery on our phones? I have regular battery banks but sometimes it is just more convenient to have a battery that is attached to your phone. If not I think I might just need to get some velcro and a slim battery bank.
Welp, after contacting the major folks: zerolemon, mophie and Motorola they said that they didn't have any plans to make one. I had to get some velcro and make my OWN Moto mods! The left is my Moto g4 plus and to the right is my work iPhone 6s with a real battery case.
can you make this one for me?or tell me how to do?

What strongst said. Below are the parts that you see in the picture. I can't put links yet I don't think.
Case: Incipio DualPro Case [will work with any case or even without one really]
Battery Bank: RAVPower 6700mah Palm Sized Portable Charger Power Bank (2.4A Output & 2A Input, iSmart 2.0 Technology) [I like this one because it provides faster charging which works for our phones and also is a nice handle with this velcro tape]
Velcro tape: Can be bought anywhere, I used the fuzzy side on the phone and the prickly side on the battery bank just because I hold the phone more.
@strongst - Thanks! Yes it does and people look at me weird when I use it. But when I am getting over 2 days battery life and 8-10 hours playing Pokemon Go! I can't complain.
If there is a manufacturer that is willing to make a decent battery case for us I will probably be one of the first ones to jump on it. I have one for my work phone and I don't mind the added weight it brings because I get decent added battery life on it. But I think with budget phones like ours chances are low that someone like ZeroLemon will make one for us.
Opps just broke charge port trying to carry this in pocket.
Easier to get a spare phone on another network than these idiot anker cases. I will be looking hard for a swapping battery phone next time. In safe mode I can only get 1/2 a work day. Which is about 14 to 15 hours.
