So before I got my OPO I did a lot of reading on which networks it works on etc.
I was going to take the plunge and go for EE as that was the only network with 100% working in the UK.
However there was some temptation to go for 3 (unlimited data) but it wasn't 100% working according to reports, so I took the gamble.
I just created this topic to let people know if they are in the same boat as me.
I have H/H+ almost everywhere and 4G works perfectly where you would expect it to.
The issue lies with the slower connections...
There is no G, there is no E, and no 3G. Anything below H is unavailable.
This doesn't bother me too much as if I don't have H or better I find it tedious to use anyway!
Like I said, just a quick heads up in case you didn't want to take the gamble yourself.
GPRS and Edge are 2g, which the Three network does not support anyway, so regardless of phone you will not get GRPS / Edge on Three.
Three used to let you roam on the Orange network a few years ago where it was possible to get 2g services in certain areas Three had no coverage, however i don't think this is the case anymore now.
Edit: Apparently in some rural areas you can still roam on EE for calls and texts, however not data.
I can also confirm the One Plus works perfectly fine on Three, i get HSPA / HSPA everywhere, and even 4g at work. I imagine its possible to get just 3g too, however i've never had anything lower than HSPA at home or where i work even on my older phones for many years. Its been very rare i've only had 3g on Three.
So far on a 4g speedtest i've had 30mbps download and 22mbps upload, very impressed! :good:
using 16gb OPO with cyanogenmod 11, on 3 network and no problem at all, LTE works perfectly and even 3g no problem at all.

I'm guessing you're in a city where the 4G isn't on the 800mhz band (not supported by OPO apparently)
I have seen my opo working fine on threes network and I get close to 30mbps easily on EE
@Insane nutter, that explains a lot thanks..
My OPO keeps popping up with a roaming message. So I'm assuming if I roam on to another UK network I'm not gonna get charged extra for it?

How is the Internet speed in London on three? I saw on three till last year and had the worst speeds at my work place near Liverpool Street.. Moved to giffgaff and happy with 3g speeds but tempted to give three a try again just for the sake of 4g.
I can get 3G, H/H+ and 4G on Three. They do have a 3G network but most of the time it will use H/H+ instead as the signal is basically the same and the phone prefers H/H+ due to it being faster.
I haven't used the phone in the country, and I don't think I will be able to anyway
Is it possible to check which towns/cities are covered by specific bands to see if 4G would work in the area?

They are fine mate. Taken this morning in East London. I'm happy with these speeds, have to bare in mind London is very congested so we won't see crazy 50+ speeds until the network further improves but I'm happy with these speeds.
I've had good speeds around Euston, Central, whilst on the tube in signalled areas generally around my area East they are more than fine.

Enable roaming - you won't get charged any extra while in the UK, and it will allow you to call and text on EE (this connectivity is part of Three's network - they only offer a 3G+ network, so they let you roam on EE where they don't have coverage).
I've tried 4g in Midlands and Yorkshire and it works perfectly well.

Anyone here from Canada that have seen 3G on their Xperia??? I am not sure what's going on since officially Rogers (FIDO) supports 1900 3G, or at least it worked a year ago on my Nokia E51 which is was only 1900 for North American 3G. Xperia refuses to get any signal when I am switching it to 3G mode.
Anyone?
Sorry, Nokia e51 was only 850 3G. That's explains it....
So you're not getting any 3G action on Rogers/Fido?
That's too bad.
I thought that 3G would work in Canada, and I'm really tempted to buy the X1, based on this
http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=6165
Ah, now I see some more clarification on the subject:
from the Pocketnow article comments:
"The Xperia X1i does not have the 850 Band.
Users in Canada, where they mostly have the 850 Band, have not been able to use 3G on their Xperia.
In the US, 850 and 1900 Bands overlap with more coverage by 1900 than the 850 Band. So, you will get 1900 Band reception wherever there is 850 Band but not the other way around.
http://www.cellularmap.net/att_850_1900.shtml"
Yea that sucks. But having edge is much better than using gprs...which is what i'm stuck with at the moment.
Will have to see how the phone is when it comes in 1-2 days.
I'm a Fido user as well and waiting on my Xperia (should be here tomorrow!). I've been driving myself nuts by trying to determine whether or not Rogers/Fido users will be able to pickup 3G with the X1i.
I'll definitely contribute my findings to this thread, as hopefully we can keep it going even if there is no 3G on the X1i yet...It would be a dream come true if the X1i was able to have the X1a's firmware flashed to it which could then change the frequency of the UMTS band (or something like that).

NEvolution, are you saying that if we don't pick up a 3G signal with the X1i, then it should fall back to EDGE which is faster than GPRS? Reason I ask is that my HTC Universal now has GPRS only, so at least I would be getting a _small_ upgrade in speed.
Plus with the cost of data in Canada and the quicker rate at which you'll burn through 3G bytes, it's still not very tempting for me just yet.
Yea, that was the case with the Touch Pro when I had it. Since it didn't have 850 3G it was always on EDGE. It never even touched GPRS cause EDGE is everywhere for me.
I would assume it's exactly the same case with the X1i, and any other phone with supported bands.
As for burning through data, I've got 6GBs a month to use so I'm not worried

Yea unfortunately I missed my opportunity to grab that option...I have City Fido, and when I called, the CSR said I couldn't just add it on...then later another CSR said that I could have, but now it's expired. 1gb for $30...b0o.
aww boo...I haven't even gotten past 1GB/mth yet. Seems pretty hard to use it up since the max I have is EDGE for now, and that includes tethering and using it as a wifi router too.
well in that case, $30 for 1gb on EDGE might not do me too bad. What are the speeds that you're getting with Rogers on EDGE?
Can't test at the moment as my backup phone only has GPRS.
But when I was using EDGE on my Touch Pro the speeds were pretty decent. Average pages load reasonably fast using Opera.
Roger 3G
Rogers 3G network is down, it has been down for the last month and a bit, they are trying to fix stuff so they turned it of and only the 2G network is working at the moment. It is not your devices.
They are not sure when it will be up again
coolturbog, I think you're right - I haven't had 3G on my Kaiser for at least a month.
Other writers are saying that the X1i completely lacks the 850 band. Although the software (WWE) says it's present, it's not.
I hope that's not true.
Just tested browsing speed using i.dslr.net/tinyspeedtest.html on Opera.
On EDGE: 110 kbps

I am getting a strong 3G signal on my Nokia E71 all the time with the descent speed of 800 kbit to 1 Mbit. And it's been like that for the last 4 months. So, your statement about Rogers network being down it's not correct. I've heard some rumors that they are not allowing Windows Mobile devices to utilize 3G speeds completely, but again - I am not sure how legitimate those obligations are. On the other hand - with Rogers monopoly in GSM arena - everything is possible....

i have searched and found several people claiming to have access to tmobile's HSPA+ ("4G") service with their HD2 running android.
can anyone confirm this? and if so, what are the steps i need to take to access the same network speeds?

There is an H for "3.5G" and theres a H for "4G". So H doesnt mean 4G right now on our HD2s.

In that case, DAMN! I have an EVO 4G!! FTW
H on your HD2 doesn't exploit the full benefits of HSPA+... It is better than 3G but not full board HSPA+. The HD2 will never be fully compatible with HSPA+.But our version of HSPA is still a heck of alot faster than 3G, especially upload speed wise. I believe the first T-Mobile phone to be fully compatible with HSPA+ speeds is the G2.
As I understand it, T-Mobile's "4G" is HSPA+ which is considered by many to be 3.5G in technicalities but it is actually faster than Sprints WiMax 4G technology.
T-Mobile only recently started calling it 4G, I kinda wish they wouldnt because I thought it was cool to have 3G that was better than 4G but I cant say that I blame them for doing it from a marketing standpoint because it will attract attention from uninformed comparison shoppers.
And as I understand it, the HD2 hardware supports the fastest speeds T-Mobile can supply so I'm sure that if there is any tweaking that can be done to the kernel to make Android support it then the Devs will take care of it.
The H in the notification bar actually means HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) or basically 3.5G or Turbo 3G, more info here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSDPA
HSPA+ (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSPA%2B) as I'm aware isn't available in a huge amount of places yet, and I'm not even sure if the HD2 supports it? Would appreciate clarification on the either way.
Does anyone know when UK rollout of HSPA+ is happening?

This is true. The HD2 can support all the speeds, that t-mobile can supply at the moment. But, 4th generation is different than HSDPA.( 3.5g) although it may be as fast or faster, its a different technology if im not mistaken. I cant remember where i read that.
But yes, if you can see the "H" instead of the 3G, you are taking hold of the HSDPA network speeds. "H" is the new 3G.

From what I understand, most of the United States will have HSPA+ by the end of the year. They have already announced the rollout here in Southern California. All 3G T-Mobile phones automatically support HSPA+ and the HD2 supports speeds up to 56Mbps.
Here is a post about the rollout.
http://androidontmobilehd2.wordpres...hspa-goes-live-with-21mbps-theoretical-speed/
Here's a post showing 4+ Megabit and I think I've seen one that is 5+ or even 6+.
http://androidontmobilehd2.wordpress.com/2010/09/04/more-testing-shows-t-mobile-superior/
with one of the sense builds i hit about 5Mbps...
I just did a speed test and it was 11mbps...
I think there needs to be some clarifcation on this. HSPA+ is NOT true 4G. speeds on HSPA+ are potentially faster than 3G or HSDPA but not comparable to true 4G.
LTE 4G is about 64Mb/sec (but can be up to 100Mb/sec)
WiMax enabled 4G is 128Mb/sec.
The HD2 supports NEITHER of these as the hardware does not exist in the phone itself.
i have had it in my area, and i can say it is damn fast! way faster then 3g. you tube videos are almost instant in winmo. i havnt found android to be stable for more than a day before it locks up, so i dont use it much, but in the miri v22 rom the internet is blazingly fast...except up the hill at my girlfriends house, im lucky to get EDGE up there. im in southern california about 30 miles north of LA. i had been wondering what the H was for a few days when i got a text from t-mo telling me that they had just activated 4G in our area, and that some phones (like the HD2) were already compatable. i would quote the text exactly, but i have flashed since then.

This dudes about as right as it gets. HSPA+ rollout will increase the data speeds of all current 3G phones on Tmobile. Not meaning you will get the FULL benefit of HSPA+ though, it'll just be faster than HSDPA. Phones such as the G2 will have the ability to take full advantage of HSPA+ due to additional hardware\software or whatever. Believe me, I'm in the Austin area and you can tell the difference and if you run mobile speedtest weirdly enough your speeds will increase as you run higher test. But, I've gotten 6-8 mbps easily with various test and if I go up to the 2mb and above the speeds starting showing 11 mbps and up, which I don't believe though. Could be though.
Here is info about it right on t-mobiles website http://t-mobile-coverage.t-mobile.com/#

Yeah, he was nowhere close to being correct. NO current tmobile phone except for the G2 is HSPA+ compatible. The HD2 is a HSDPA and the 'H' on your screens means that you are connected to HSDPA which theoretically supports up to 7.2 Mbps as opposed to original 3G which was just 3.6 Mbps. Yes, if you are in an area that is upgraded to HSPA+ you will see an increase in speeds because the infrastructure has been upgraded to support higher speeds, but your phone will NEVER support HSPA+ and will thus never reach speeds above 7.2 Mbps. Which brings me to my next point below .....

You are a f%$king idiot. Turn off wifi. Your HD2 will not connect at 11 Mbps on a cellular network.
I am not sure if this is on WiFi or regular 3G or H mode.
On my phone the WiFi is turned off, but I am not sure if the ROM has the WiFI build in it .
But it clearly shows on Androit it is lighting fast.
I was curious and then tested it againts a PC, and the HD2 was way faster to execute the tests.
What do you guys think about speed. Is T-Mobile capable of it?

Is the upgrade in Southern Cali currently affecting data connections now? I'm having issues with consistent data connections on both Android and Windows Mobile, and the Windows Mobile I just noticed today!
so, can anyone confirm HSPA+ speeds on the hd2? HSDPA speeds are nice (PPP) much better than HSPA/HSUPA. just wondered if i could get even better, more reliable connections.
Im letting you know ahead of time that this is a random rant. So I have been wondering what's the real deal holyfield with sprints so called wimax. I read somewhere that wimax really isn't TRUE 4g as it doesn't even max out at true 4g speeds. The most I've hit was about 5mbps. So is it really even 4g? And tmobile hspa + network is that faster that our wimax? My sister comes to my apt in my 4g area and her g2 gets about 6 mbps with her hspa. Why does it seem like gsm has way better data. We all know sprints 3g isn't really 3g its piss poor. If this LTE is supposed to beat out wimax why did sprint roll with it over LTE. I'm thinking sprint wanted to get a **** ton of subscribers so they just went with wimax cause it would roll out way before LTE but I definitely don't think wimax/clear is true 4g. I also heard the clear ceo jumped ship or something lol. If the national standard is supposedly going LTE what would sprint/clear do, will they adopt new technologied in their phones and leave wimax phones out to dry? So the real 4g is LTE and wimax just seems like it should be labeled pre4g, cause I hear LTE will be able to get 10mbps down and 3-5mbps up. That's stronger than most peoples internet eh? I am kind of pissed for paying an extra 10 bucks for 5mbps in a strong area and in my area my 4g hits only about 2. Is sprint going to be the only provider using wimax? The moral of this pointless rant is just to get my knowledge and others about the future/truth of wimax. I just want to understand how this service compares to this new LTE and tmobiles and atts new 4g network. It would be nice just to come in and drop comments on any question asked in this post instead of flame me, or post non sense.
A small search woudl have answered all questions....
First, nobody has a "true" 4G network as no 4G network reaches 100mbps yet. Another thing, Sprint is working on a WiMax/LTE hybrid network, or so it goes. Speed depends where you live. I hit 10mbps easily here in Orlando, some people can't hit above 1. Some goes for ANY network on earth.

Nah I'm pretty happy with my evo I got it late, xmas to be exact but hands down best phone I've ever owned. Just disappointed with sprints 3g because you would expect it to perform but it doesn't. Way to rub in your 12mbps against my 2 lol
I got almost 12 as you can see in my signature.
I hit 9-10 all the time in Houston. Hell I get 1-2 on 3g. And you can bet Verizon will charge for lte.
funny you should mention that gsm is always faster than sprint cdma. i was in denton tx last night for an interview and compared my evo on 3g(running gingerbread with no wimax) and i got 1566 kb down compared to his 447 kb down. denton is a college town but not exactly small. i usually get 2-5 mbps down on 4g but havent tested it lately as i am doin the gb thing
I don't mind... if Sprint goes under because of this failed investment, we'll be able to jump ship without ETFs anyways... no worries. ;P
i get 2-3 on 4g in orlando area it sucks my 3g is 1 m

How the hell you get 9-10 in Houston I live in Houston. When I lived in pearland I could barely get 1 mbps, now I moved to the woodlands area and barely get 3.

Yeah I know Denton I took a visit to meet this chick at Texas women college one time I drove all the way from Houston and she was on her rag. Ill never forget Denton. Imagine how my weekend went. Never again lmfao
i live in Miami and the 3G is decent as far as comparing it with that pos "3G" t-mobile used to give me. with tmo i was lucky to get 600kbps. with sprint i get 600-1600 average on 3G, and 2400-5600 average on 4G. and peak 4G speedtest is on my signature lol
I live in Houston and on 4g I get around 8-9.

maybe because there's not alot of people connected to these antennas
You guys all seem to be getting pretty good speeds. Me on the other hand I rely on 3g I might get 1 mbps on a good day and I'm happy.
The server you use on speedtest makes a huge difference as well, try to use one that has an internet backbone near it like Atlanta, DC or Chicago for the east coast. I get maybe 2 or 3mbps on speedtest with a server that is not 30 miles from here yet I get 8mbps on another that is almost 1000 miles away.
WiMAX and LTE are still considered pre-4G atm but it's an actual 4G network, all we need is a firmware update to have true 4G. at&t & t-mo on the other hand will Never have real 4G with HSPA+. btw, I get 8mbps in Orlando and on the east coast near there all the time using the atlanta and harold, ky servers, actual speeds during use vary though.

I agree I've had a 4g device for almost a year now with 4g not even driving distance away...I have to travel about a little over an hour, maybe a little more, to get 4g in the city, they got to do something or have a backup plan...I don't think the kyoceras working...
I though it was Sprint's plan to move on without them? I read an article a couple weeks ago that a bunch of Sprint execs had resigned from Clearwire's board. This was just before they announced (or at least rumors began) of moving to LTE.
Doesn't surprise me that Verizon will have their 4g reaching more customers in 1 year than we have now.. I love Sprint, but, they are behind at&t/verizon for a reason.
I have had an EVO since launch and only used 4g on a brief trip out of town. It now looks like I will be upgrading to another phone without ever really using 4g on my EVO. That's sad.
I guess people thought VZW was lying when they said they'd have their entire 3G network covered with LTE by 2013.
Same here. On a trip to pa I used in pa in a certain spot for about 5 minutes

its not that big of a deal
Clear has been having LTE tests in AZ and the wimax equipment as I understand it will be super easy to upgrade to LTE - then sprint releases the LTE devices and BOOM LTE is everywhere that WIMax Was..
http://www.clear.com/blog/size-matters/
sprint always tries to bring new tech first...
but always seem to fail in the follow through.
What spectrum was that phoenix testing done on? 2400mhz??
What speeds does Wimax have when there's only 1 user on it?
That video seems very promising considering how those speeds were faster than my Uverse.

That's part of the problem - there isn't much coverage and where there is coverage, quite frankly it sucks. I live in Houston and leave 4g off because the coverage is so spotty.

I would rather have the expanded backend like T-Mobile has, where a normal 3g phone will pull down 5mbps. 21 mbps down is nice but what would I need that bandwidth on a phone. Embedded in a laptop nice, used in the middle of the country where alot of.people don't even have internet access that would be amazing

After Tmobiles new plan trotting after 2gb of use, I could care less about 4g as long as I'm not throttled. I could eat 2 gigs in a day if there's enough music to download.

It is almost embarrassing how many people have not gotten to use their 4g on their Evo. I went to San Diego from Phoenix and I still wasn't even able to find any 4g connection. I've really enjoyed the rom experience with the Evo, but I was really looking forward to the 4g stuff.
Luckily bay area has 4g. It is amazing how just a few years ago dsl was screaming fast now my phone can blow it away.
I'll be another upgrading to an evo3d without ever really using 4g on my htc evo......4G!

I agree with this, in my area Sprint consistently pulls about 200-400 kbps down on 3G. A friend with VZW showed me his 3G speed test results - routinely around 1500-1700. If I had speeds like that, I wouldn't ever even want or need 4G.
I like Sprint, but man their 3G is very disappointing. During lunch hour on weekdays, I've seen it drop to nearly 50 kbps. It makes me yearn for the days of blazing fast dialup modems... :/

This is what I used to say about T-Mobile where I live in Utah. I average what your friend is getting on Verizon with Sprint's 3G network here.
Speed test sitting at my desk at work right now (about my average 3G speeds, usually a little higher):

And with a really weak 4G signal:
Further north 4G I can hit up to 6,000-7,000. Not that I ever use it.
EDIT: Interesting that the upload speeds were the same lol

I'm currently on T-Mobile and frustrated with reception in my area. I'm not knocking the company, it just isn't working for me. So I'm looking at switching next month and the Nexus 4 is one of my favorite phone options on the market.
My experience with the Nexus 7 has been pretty excellent. My one major holdup with the Nexus 4 is its lack of LTE. I am wondering if anyone has switched FROM an LTE phone to the Nexus 4. If you have, could you offer some impressions of how the difference in speed affects you - if at all?
Yes, and doesn't affect me... I think lte is a want, not a need. Sure, lte is nice if you download large files or stream video, but for everything I need, HSPA+ is great for me...
And I'm getting 4-12Mbps down in Denver. (T-Mobile was much slower when I tried it with my Gnex).

Not having the luck that some of you guys are having.
I have a ****berry that has H+. Took the SIM out and popped it into the GN4. No connection. Rebooted, connection came up fine. Calls, SMS, and data (gmail, web, apps, etc) all work fine. However, speedtest will not connect to do a speed test stating "network communication issues"
I went into the network selection and it shows two AT&T networks. Connecting to the upper one works fine, connecting to the lower one does not work.
Any ideas?
I'm in the Chicago area and at&t's LTE is very inconsistent with speeds, so going to hspa+ isn't a huge deal.

I really don't think it is something anyone can answer for you since it depends so much on your area. It sucks there is no easy way to test every carriers reception in your area.
I personally just swapped from my GN on Verizon, in the Phoenix area (ie not the middle of nowhere). Granted outside, I'd sometimes see 14M+, but indoors, the GN would do like 1-3M down, or constantly be switching to 3G or just randomly losing its signal. Now granted, part (or most) of that could have been the radio's in the GN and not Verizon's network, but so far my N4 on T-Mobile is doing a constant 6-12M everywhere. I'm pretty satisfied so far.
I have a ipad 3 lte iphone 5 lte, and yes i can feel the difference, i get 40 to 50 mbps on lte... I might get 15 mbps on my Nexus 4 on dc-hspa+... Which is not that bad... Ill live with it, it's more than enough for streaming hd or whatever the hell you wanna do wirelessly.

First I must say I have never had 4G LTE so I can't speak to the differences between the two technologies. I have AT&T 4G (3.5G) and have been trying the T-Mobile $30 4G prepaid plan. Both plans seem to offer me similar speeds, ranging between 6Mbps to 12Mbps and that is fine for me. The T-mobile plan seems to have more latency issues. But anyway, I don't really see what the big deal with LTE is. I mean, yeah, I can brag and say i get 70+Mbps, but doesn't that mean you will hit the limits on the "unlimited" plans faster and be throttled down? I mean really, I don't plan on downloading massive files, doing bit torrent or file sharing, I save that for home. The speeds I get now are fine for streaming Netflix and music and even Skype. So, when I was considering the Nexus 4G, the lack of LTE was not an issue for me at all. Love my Nexus 4!

What are you doing other than selecting LTE from the phone info screen to get it to connect?
If I switch to LTE and reboot it boots as WCDMA as discussed here. I've tried all the usual options such as airplane mode etc to get it. The only thing I'm left with is thinking that my SIM may not support LTE as ATT like to give out an LTE SIM, but not sure if this is really needed.

In Chicago AT&T is the worst possible carrier you can be on. Their LTE is only 5x5Mhz so it's already loaded and slow, and their HSPA has always been insanely slow. Your better bet is T-Mobile, or Verizon.

The 4G I am referring to from AT&T and T-mobile is HSPA+ and not true 4G LTE. Some refer to it as 3.5G. And it suits my needs fine. I am not doing anything in the phone settings.
I came from VZW LTE to Straight Talk AT&T HSPA+ and I can say that I'm actually much happier. The LTE is lightning fast no doubt, but it sucked my batteries down too fast on my phone for it be of any use. I've had 3 different LTE phones and all of them were battery suckers. HSPA+ seems to be much more effecient.
With all that said, I'll take the reduction in speed to get significantly better battery life. No more carrying around a charger all day for me! BTW, HSPA+ is more than plenty to stream HD content and that will please the majority of people.
It would mostly depend on your area. On my Skyrocket as fast as LTE blasting through bandwidth is as fast as it drains the battery. On my N4 I can browse, load the pages pretty fine. Granted LTE will have better ping and/or bandwidth in a congested area but for the things I use: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tapatalk, Flipboard, Pandora, Google Talk/+/Hangout (video chat) etc.. those have all been loading fine and don't notice much of difference.
Now if I'll be downloading a large file then yeah thats where LTE will shine. One day my CM10 build was crapping up and I downloaded the next build in a few minutes and that saved me some time but as far as small instances as just browsing webpages I can do fine with HSPA+.
I'm in an area where I get about:
30/30 LTE
8/1 HSPA+
Recently AT&T turned on LTE in my area and I can tell you there is a noticeable difference on my s3. Using just HSPA+ I pretty much top out at 5-6Mbps but speed tests on LTE see incredible! I can usually get around 22Mbps. For some things I do (Netflix, etc.) it is a noticeable difference and totally worth it.
Though it is great in my area I know it depends heavily on where you live. As more users tax the system I'm sure speeds well be affected even where I live.

I came from a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and I can't really say it matters that much. This phone is so fast and so smooth that the loss of LTE is now just an afterthought. I was very worried about this though before I got my Nexus 4. I'm am so glad I made the jump and bought this phone. Trust me if u choose to not buy this phone cause of it not having LTE u are making a huge mistake.

well, i had Sprint, and because they had slow 3G i went with Vz.... and loved LTE.... but since they are assholes and treat their customers like **** i went ahead and left them after 7 months... my exit was the Nexus 4 with TMo... i do not regret it one bit...
at my work, i had 3G ~100kb connection on sprint and also Vz... if i went outside i had 4G LTE... my nexus 4 gets H+ 7mb connection at the same location.
heres a screenshots of my GNEX and N4 compared... for real world use, its great! no regrets
---------- Post added at 11:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 PM ----------
oh yeah... one thing i have been noticing... and dont know is if its like that with TMo.... but i jump from 3G to H often.. like all the time... but not while using it... all this on areas of full bars
for example..i unlock phone and it says 3G.... when i start messing with it and click an app, it inmediately switches to H.... and stays there...
i dont know yet if the phone does it on purpose to conserve battery, but it doesnt bother me yet since it has yet to take long to switch or be bad reception.

I have to ask, are you actually in Chicago? I live close to the border of Wisconsin, work in the north suburbs, have family that I visit in the west suburbs and the actual city of Chicago and I've never had an issue with att. I see LTE speeds from about 5-30 Mbps and hspa+ is about 2-5 usually. I came from sprint, which was absolutely terrible. I've tried T-Mobile, which had more dead zones than att but similar speeds, and no experience with Verizon.
I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest, but what are you basing your comment on?
