Asking on behalf of my gf who doesn't use these forums;
She's just got a new LG G2 on T-Mobile in the UK via carphone warehouse, and despite having Push selected in her Outlook.com app, she hasn't been getting new messages and asked me to take a look. The app will display a constant 'syncing...' message but not update. I then tried using Google Search just checking for connectivity and no joy, despite an active 'H+' signal shown in the notification bar. I then tried the stock LG browser, and... instant results, loads web pages in a flash, no problems at all!
Any ideas why data is working with some apps and not others?

no-one have any ideas? the problem is ongoing - literally only the LG browser gets any connectivity [edit: was able to download an update and browse the LG Smartworld app, and send a message on Whatsapp that was instantly received], every other app gets no data. Chrome, playstore, outlook, facebook, etc etc etc.... nothing is receiving any data. But the phone HAS signal and data connection, as evidenced by the LG Browser working... baffled!

Hi all,
I'm new here so please be gentle if I'm posting in the wrong place.
I have an HD2 that came bundled with the Facebook app. All was fine but I refreshed my friends list and now they all appear twice. I've tried uninstalling the app and then redownloading and installing etc but the problem remains.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Tom.
Did you use some other software to import your facebook contacts at some point?
Hi
Nope, I'll I have done is logged in to the Facebook app and my friends appeared in there as per the full Facebook website. I hit 'refresh' on them a few days ago to see their updated status / profile pics and ever since then they've been listed twice.
Tom.
tried logging out and back in? Its also worth remembering that being logged in through the facebook program isn;t quite the same as being logged in through the 'me' contact card in your contact list.
I've tried logging out etc. It's so strange! Even the un / reinstall didn't fix it.
i take it when you log in via the pc all is fine? it isn't a facebook problem?
All fine via standard 'web based' Facebook.
In fact, it appears that the friends simply aren't getting updated. The profile pics change (sometimes) but I've added new friends via facebook on the web, and they just aren't appearing on the mobile app.
P.S. Perhaps I should be working and not playing on Facebook!!!
go too people all people, bottom tabs scroll to updates and events, (4th tab) menu update. stay on that screen (it says updating in the banner just down from top right) don't exit that screen till it has finished.
Hi
Sorry still no joy. Just to clarify, I am referring to friends listed under the Facebook app itself (middle icon on blue bar at top of facebook app).
Many thanks for your efforts so far.
Tom.
ahh well in that case I'd put it down to the vast number of issues since the made changes recently. my missus always gets a blank wall untill she has refreshed the page and flivked through all her tabs and she gets the "there has been an error" popup every few minutes.
Code:
All of a sudden I got "An error had occurred while fetching data [null]" every time I want to see my live feed and my own profile from my Nexus One phone (stock Facebook app). I have no problem accessing it from the browser or PC.
Strange thing though, when i log out, then re-login using OTHER facebook account, I can see the live feed and the profile page no problem. Everything works fine again.
However, once i login using MY account, problem starts again.
I have hard reset my N1, problem still there.
Any idea? Please help.
I like the stock Facebook app on N1, don't really want to install another app or use browser to access it.
Oh and my N1 is stock, no root yet.
Thank you
Calm down and take a deep breath I have the same problem. It is not your phone it is facebook server. I had the problem yesterday shortly and today in the morning. Now it seems ok for me...wait until they repair the problem and use the browser application in the meantime...
i had the same issue also, mine seems to be working now though.
so server related not my phone?
phew...
mine still isn't working though
still not working? dang, just give it some time, mine was out a good 6-7 hours
I've had this issue on the Desire ROM where the live feed on the Friend Stream just refuses to update... I was "locked out" for a few days.
strange, it wasn't working for a while until u put the facebook widget on my home. click on the facebook icon, then ta-da! all working again.
Not sure if it was a coincidence...
It's a problem with some 3rd party apps that push data to your facebook feed and the client's interpretation of the XML. Zynga apps being one of them.
You can experiment by hiding various 3rd party apps form your facebook feed (or logging in when you get the error on a computer and seeing what apps were there and not on your phone).
Once they're hidden (or, over time as they pass further down the history list) your feed will work fine.
i don't play games on facebook, nor have i allow any games to be on my profile.
strange, but it works ok now.
Not just games this can be form ANY third party app that has an illegal character in it....this includes quizes, "who visited your profile", horoscopes, any of those things, anything that is not a pure-facebook update.
Same problem here on htc desire S. On wifi all is ok. On 3g ''An error had occurred while fetching data (null.)'' This is very strange.
I couldn't find anything related to what I am seeing, either through Google or the forums. Not sure where the best place to post this is, so here I am!
I purchased one of the ZTE open's that were on eBay for the U.S since I like experimenting with multiple mobiles os's. Received it the other day.
Some issues/possible issues:
-Constant update loop. I keep getting the notifications that there is a system update, when I already did that system update. I'm not sure if the system is not actually updating or the update process is buggy. It looks like I am staying on 1.0.1.0. During the process of downloading the file, it would hang multiple times and I would have to restart it too.
-Facebook contact import. Love going to a new phone with the ability to update either through google, facebook or even both. For some reason it just wont work. I go through the process, sign in and get an error message through which looks like a web page. The message is invalid app id.
-Mail doesn't seem to work, or not work very well. An activesync email address doesn't seems to really be working as I keep receiving an issue of not being able to connect to the server when I do it manually. If i don't do it manually I'm not sure email is being received correctly. For gmail I have to manually fetch emails, but that doesnt work all the time.
-AT&T data connection. For some reason this seems a little sporadic, so not sure if its the area I am in or the phone. Data is turned on. The defaults were set as APN = wap.cingular.com, Username = [email protected] and Password = CINGULAR1. The http proxy boxes are blank.
So, curious to if anyone else here in the U.S is having these issues with the phones they just got? Overall its an interesting, but simple phone. If I could get some of these small things to work I feel it would be a solid phone for my use.

I am having some of the same issues. Namely the update loop and Facebook syncing not working.
I am using T-Mobile right now, but I haven't really used it much to know if the cell data is troublesome or not.
The update issue is a known bug, and was reported Friday. I am currently on T-Mobile with mine, and everything works as far as cell data, SMS, and MMS. I have my Gmail set up in the phone, but haven't bothered to see about updates or checking the settings. I also don't allow FB to import my contacts, so I wouldn't know.
Can't update this damn phone. Can't get MMS text. Becoming more of a problem, rather than a solution. Was going to give it to my dad since it's not too techy, but god damnit, at least have the basic functions working.
I have a rooted Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 with Android 4.2.2 for the last 3 weeks and it worked without any problems. Since 3 days however the contact stock app crashes / doesnt open at all with black screen or freezes with the message "Updating contact list...". I didn't change any settings or installed any new apps during that time. The error also seems to crash the call stock app, where call log, favorites, contacts etc. are also not displayed. In most cases when the error appears I cannot even open the call app and initiate a phone call. Incoming calls just show the number but do not get matched to any contacts.
The error appears randomly and then lasts for 2-3 hours, after which the app works again normally. Rebooting, clearing cache or clearing dalvic cache has no effect.
All my contacts are synched with Google, Samsung account, Twitter, Facebook & Linkedin. I have tried deactivating each & all of the syncs but this had no effect. I also tried displaying only contacts with numbers or only contacts from a certain account in settings but this also had no effect on the error.
Any other suggestions on what could be tried to fix this? Thank you very much in advance!
I might have traced down the reason for this and it could be related to the "sync people details" option for the Google account sync. I have now deactivated the sync and have to monitor if the error still occurs. Has anyone else experienced similar problems due to this setting?

Same problem here, occurred at about the same date early sep 2013 with the same phone.... Galaxy S4, T Mobile, Android 4.2.2. The android.process.acore goes ape**** and block all apps that use the contact list: I can no longer text, phone or email, for a couple of hours. After that, everything goes back to normal for half a day like nothing ever happened. Then all hell break lose again. I called T-Mobile, Samsung and Google.
T-Mobile has the same fix for any conceivable problem: reinstall the entire system OR change the phone. How subtle!
Samsung won't deal with any client problem whatsoever.
Google was the best - hands down. They spent time with me trying to figure the problem out. Ultimately, they recommended rooting the phone - which is not great because I use wifi calling, which requires a bit of tmobile code. Frankly, I would love to get rid of TMobile's bloatware, but they have a way to control their clients with wifi calling.
Still working on getting this pb resolved.

I installed an app called "Contact Remover", deleted all contacts and then re-synched them and at the same time deactivated the sync for the "Sync People Details" option. Since then the error only appeared one more time (no idea why ..) but it seems as if that mostly fixed the issue.
Possible solution

It looks like disabling all unnecessary sync relieves the performance to a normal level.
In particular, disabling "Sync Contacts" (under Accounts/Skype) from Skype made a big improvement performance for my SG4.
Hi guys,
I have been extremely frustrated with my LG G2 experience thus far (1 day) and am planning on sending it back. Everytime I turn off my phone and restart it will ask me for a password of the WiFi network in my home. Furthermore, setting up multiple gmail accounts has been a nightmare. I went into accounts and added my other gmail accounts and was able to browse email of the different accounts through the gmail app. However, when I use the browser LG or Chrome I started having issues with logging into accounts. When I go to gmail.com in my LG browser it shows all my gmail accounts and then when I click on one of them, it will either not allow me to login and the page refreshes back to where it shows all the accounts or it will only let me login in to one account and even when I sign out of it and then, try to login (if the page allows me which it does randomly) then it will take me back to the account I had supposedly just logged out of. So, I tried to logout and login to a different gmail account on my chrome browser as well, but its now just stuck in an infinite loop where the blue bar goes halfway and comes back and does the same things really fast over and over again? I tried searching and have not been able to find any answers. I called LG tech support and she said you can only ever check one gmail account whether it is through the gmail app or checking gmail through a browser. Is this true? If yes, then I will be sending the phone back and for me is a major setback. I really wish there will some easy solution to these problems, because other than these issues I really do love the device and hope I can keep it.
I am using a LG D803 from Telus. I also have not put in a sim yet either.
Thanks,
Jay
Lol. I have 803. Never heard or experienced any of the above. I use multiple Gmail accounts on app. It's highly convenient except for the sync that turns off on its own time to time

Yup, as my post says gmail app is fine. Have you tried logging in and out of multiple gmail accounts in the browsers?
Frustrated as well
I have the same wifi issue. I must enter my network and password EVERY time. I travel back at forth from work to home daily and must enter all the information EVERY time. I HATE that and am also going to discard the phone because of it. I have searched and searched for a solution and none are out there. I guess I'll go back to the IPhone.
