Hi guys,
I have been extremely frustrated with my LG G2 experience thus far (1 day) and am planning on sending it back. Everytime I turn off my phone and restart it will ask me for a password of the WiFi network in my home. Furthermore, setting up multiple gmail accounts has been a nightmare. I went into accounts and added my other gmail accounts and was able to browse email of the different accounts through the gmail app. However, when I use the browser LG or Chrome I started having issues with logging into accounts. When I go to gmail.com in my LG browser it shows all my gmail accounts and then when I click on one of them, it will either not allow me to login and the page refreshes back to where it shows all the accounts or it will only let me login in to one account and even when I sign out of it and then, try to login (if the page allows me which it does randomly) then it will take me back to the account I had supposedly just logged out of. So, I tried to logout and login to a different gmail account on my chrome browser as well, but its now just stuck in an infinite loop where the blue bar goes halfway and comes back and does the same things really fast over and over again? I tried searching and have not been able to find any answers. I called LG tech support and she said you can only ever check one gmail account whether it is through the gmail app or checking gmail through a browser. Is this true? If yes, then I will be sending the phone back and for me is a major setback. I really wish there will some easy solution to these problems, because other than these issues I really do love the device and hope I can keep it.
I am using a LG D803 from Telus. I also have not put in a sim yet either.
Thanks,
Jay
Lol. I have 803. Never heard or experienced any of the above. I use multiple Gmail accounts on app. It's highly convenient except for the sync that turns off on its own time to time

Yup, as my post says gmail app is fine. Have you tried logging in and out of multiple gmail accounts in the browsers?
Frustrated as well
I have the same wifi issue. I must enter my network and password EVERY time. I travel back at forth from work to home daily and must enter all the information EVERY time. I HATE that and am also going to discard the phone because of it. I have searched and searched for a solution and none are out there. I guess I'll go back to the IPhone.

I've been trying to add a second google mail account to my phone today. I've gone into 'Google Mail' app, add account, which I already have, and complete the details. I have good wifi signal and can stream videos from youtube very smoothly. I have Vodafone H coverage.... however it comes up saying temporay problem, you have no network connection. I've rebooted the handset, same problem.
Give I have Wifi and H mobile coverage I wonder if you can actually add a second account ? It says you can but has anyone managed to do it yet ? I can login from a PC to my second account ok.
PS I'm using the stock firmware from Vodafone.
once into the Gmail app .
press the menu key and that wil open the "Menu"
on the right side of that menu , there will be "accounts".
Click on that and put in the correct name and password for your 2nd gmail account .
Cheers
/T
Yup thats what I've been doing and it says network not available even though it is....

Odd .
Im not sure m8 what to do , wait for someone else .

I've tested from work this morning, we have a Vodafone transponder in the building as they are the corporate network. We get very good and fast coverage, it still says its temp fault, unstable connection vague message. I've got a good very fast connection, somethings wrong with the app imo.
My first account is gmail and second is googlemail, I can't see that causing a problem. I can log into both via the internet browser fine :-\
It's been confirmed by other users on the Vofafone UK eForum the 2nd email option in Gmail isn't working. It seems the last firmware update broke the feature :|
I have the same problem.
Primary account is google apps.
Have also a gmail
When I try to log in to my third (apps) I get the timeout....
Have no idea what to do..
Confirmed here. Either on WiFi or 3g I'm getting network error while trying to setup second gmail account. First one is Google apps.

Simonq

Anyone?
Have no clue to fix this..
You need to reset your phone to factory defaults and then reconfigure all Google accounts.
It has solved problem on my legend.

There is a workaround that has worked for some people, not including me with this same problem.. Download youtube from market by google, login to it with your second email account.. Hope that works for you, google needs to fix this right now, RESETTING your phone should NOT be an option, not even in the 1980's would this be acceptable.. Google should not be allowed in cell phones if their software did not make the advance in technology that many of us call "reconfiguration"
No problems here using 2 Google Accounts (no stock ROM though, I'm using CM 7 - Gingerbread right now but was the same with CM 6.1 before)
I did the setup through other way...instead of setting it in Gmail, go to phone Settings - Accounts & Sync and setup there the two accounts. My primary one is a Google Apps account configured to sync contacts, mail, notes and calendar and the second one is my personal account (the one set also for Google Checkout) where I've set to sync only mail. When going to Gmail apps I have both accounts there and I can send/receive from both
I'm running Gmail 2.3, it came with the Evo I bought this week.
Anyone else seeing the problem of Gmail getting stuck on ONE email?
For instance, I can see a list of emails, but whichever email I try to select, it will always show only one particular email. And pressing the left right navigation arrows at the bottom of the email still shows the same email.
Gmail been flakey on all phones this week. Thought google fixed that.
8pen from my supersonic on the xda app.
I don't get this issue, but many times after clearing my inbox in the app it still looks like I have new emails when I don't. The number of new emails doesn't go back to zero till I login via gmail.com or wait for a new email to come in.
Gmail has always been like this for me though.
Last year I learned how to include a push feature Google offers on the iPhone, and I set it up there, yes the push worked. Until then I got the Evo in June and used Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync instead of the gmail app.
If you want a true sync, then u can get it set up in MS Exchange by entering your username and password, then click on manual setup, from there, when u see the server box which says gmail.com, you will need to change that to m.Google.com then click next, choose which u want synced then ur good to go.
P.S. screw the gmail app, I prefer the HTC mail app though, has user friendly UI and the ability to multi select files to be movedto another folder or deleted...I tried moving files on gmail and don't see that feature implemented on the gmail app, unless I missed it.
I deleted the data for GMail within Settings Applications and everything was okay again after the resync.
Man.... I have never had any issues you guys write on here, I must be extremely lucky *knocks on wood*
No issues here

I was having issues with the sync yesterday as well. Clearing the data like you said fixed it. Thank you!
This doesn't help I'm just stating my personal experience:
I have never had issues with Gmail app other than trying to save attachments as posted. Other than that it has always been solid. If Google has server issues it wont matter what app you use.
I've found several threads, but none of which seem to help. I can't get my exchange account to "push" my email. I've turned on every option known to man to allow this to happen, but it just isn't happening without me having to refresh. Push works with my other two non-exchange accounts and it worked fine with my old HTC One M7. Any ideas?
I am having the same issues (exchange server not pushing email, have to manually refresh) plus phone is very warm and battery drain since the email is not getting pushed and I think the email app is trying to sync with the exchange servers and draining the battery. But email works (exchange push) with my previous phone galaxy s4 update to 4.4.4 with no problems

So, can anyone help us?
I get this problem a lot with gmail, yahoo, and hotmail. Sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't. The only good news is that the new Gmail app (coming soon) will be able to handle multiple accounts from Yahoo, Hotmail, and Exchange. So hopefully that will be a better app than Samsung's mail.
PS> If you set it to retrieve every X minutes it will work, but it will waste more battery than push.
Ok, it's been a couple of weeks, so I thought I would ask again. Does anyone have a suggested solution to this? Am I the only one having problems with email not being "pushed" to my phone via ActiveSync? In doing a google search I see that this has historically been an issue, but there is no solution?

Been using the new Gmail 5.0 app, it handles multiple accounts nicely. It doesn't use push, but checks every 15 mins. Overall I like it more than the Samsung email app, so I am using Gmail now. I deleted all the accounts from the Samsung app. I've also noticed an improvement in battery life (subjective).
I have the same issue
Hi all, it's been a LONG time since I've been over here. I recently got the Note 4 as a Christmas present from the wifey, she knows what I like. Probably helps that I've had every Note so it's a safe guess on her part. Yesterday I received the push update from AT&T which took it up to 4.4.4. Well, since that my push email works when it wants to. It will eventually push it but it could be anywhere between 15 minutes and 2 hours. This is unacceptable for me as I own a custom networking company that has jobs in all timezones and I need to get my emails immediately.
I have done all of the regular "troubleshooting" steps including wiping my phone and starting from scratch with nothing installed but the stock email. I even changed the SIM. All of the push/sync settings are enabled......ALL of them.
I would LOVE to use my Touchdown app which I basically keep on my phone now for the server search feature but don't use it for notifications because it doesn't show the email content on my Gear S. The only app I know of that shows that email content on the Gear S is the stock email app (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG).
Has anybody found a resolution to this? I haven't rooted my phone since my Note 2 but before that I'd been hacking them since these threads at XDA were WinMo only. I'll gladly put a new ROM on if I can get my email working and pushed to my Gear S again. Does anybody have any recommendations that may save me some time poking around?
Thanks for listening to my long winded story. I've been told I write too much. Happy holidays!
use maildroid app.
I have no problems with my MS Exchange account pushing the new emails. I remember reading in the MS Exchange set up instructions that if you set it up as a POP rather than an Exchange account the calendar & task functions will be disabled. Knowing that an Exchange account can be set up as one or as a POP email account I would make certain you have it set up as an Exchange account and not a POP account. Not sure if that has anything to do with the push feature but I thought it would be worth mentioning.
My Exchange email through the Samsung email app works fine and push email works. It's worked on every Samsung phone I've had on every rom I've tried so I guess I'm of no help.

Sprint Note 4/Exchange 2010
I have also been seeing inconsistent results with exchange push email as to the timing of received messages. I was also seeing the battery drain issues associated with exchange push. Although I noticed the battery drain was worse while using cellular data as opposed to wifi. I have only been using the samsung email app with stock NK2, with Hybrid X, and BobCat roms. Same results on all roms. I have repeatedly gone thru the steps of deleting phone thru webmail, delete account on phone after force stop of exchange and email apps and resetup, added account thru email app instead of thru accounts. If I saw it in a forum I tried it. I do primarily use wifi whenever possible. I did confirm it was only exchange push causing my issues as I could set to 15 minutes or manaual and not see the battery drains.
i also had a Nexus 6 along with other devices prior to this phone and push worked just fine.
So yesterday I took the plunge and loaded MailWise. My phone is now using push and is working great. As it has on other phones/devices I have had. Not seeing huge battery drain even on cellular data. Yes, it is possible to see data icon stop running constantly on cellular data after all with this phone. 6 hours off charger today and still at 90%. Prior I would have been pushing 60% range. Receiving email notifications on phone either prior to my desktop outlook or at the same time. Which is normal. Specifically tested by sending messages to my exchange account using gmail and yahoo while having desktop outlook open and running.
I did notice thru webmail that my device now shows up as Android instead of SAMSUNGN910P
Hope this can help others
If anyone is interested, the Exchange service on the G4 (at least the T-Mobile version) can be disabled via the apps menu and Google Exchange services can be installed.
This will allow you to use the GMail app with Exchange enabled hosts, like Hotmail/Outlook.com and retain push mail, contact and calendar sync.
Recommended steps:
If you have any accounts using email and exchange, remove them first.
Open Settings/General/Apps/All
Tap on Exchange (The LG one with the blue icon)
Force stop
Disable the Exchange Service
(Restarting your phone is recommended at this point)
Install Google Exchange Services
(Restarting your phone is recommended at this point as well)
Open GMail and you will have Exchange as an option when you add an account.
This is gold to me.
Thanks.
sweet thx!
edit: oops that didn't work for me it gets stuck constantly sync'ing and has some exchange service crashes hmm...
Works fine here so far. I just wish you could disable the remote administration requiring your device to use a PIN. I'd love to use Smart Lock.

It's important that you remove any old exchange accounts in email first, then force close the LG exchange service and disable it. If you don't disable it, then GMail will get stuck syncing.

Just waiting on root so I can keep my damn unlock screen without having to put in an 8 character password with numbers and special characters every time I want to unlock my phone.
I might just bite the bullet and buy touchdown for $20 because I heard it doesn't need to apply the permissions to your whole phone but just the app.

This. I have used Smart Lock on my N5 with no problems even though we are required to have a PIN. Fired up the G4 and immediately noticed once I setup email Smart Lock was grey and can't be used. I thought that by switching to Gmail for my Exchange email I could get around that only to find Gmail doesn't have Exchange support on this phone (until I found this thread).
Has anyone that has followed the instructions at the top been able to get Smart Lock working when Gmail is used for Exchange email? Or does Touchdown get around this?
I am going to test this out tonight - can't goof around too much while on the job!!

Outlook bypasses the security requirement, but it appears to only sync email, not calendars or contacts. You get prompted that Exchange wants you to accept these changes, but you have an option to deny them.

I'll have to look at that new outlook app closer then. It prompted me for the security permissions to wipe phone, pin, and all that crap so I exited out.
Touchdown is supposed to be all one contained environment so I don't think it syncs with the default apps. I could be wrong as I have never tried it since I always got a PIN bypasser working on my old phones. It is free for a month so try it out! I don't care about contacts and it would be nice to have calendar but I'm not heartbroken over it. What I would like to know is if you still get a notification of new mail. I would assume so but aren't allowed to preview it which is fine but I at least need to know I have mail.

Yeah that request seems to be standard whenever you setup Outlook, regardless of app. It was when it came to the lock screen settings, it allowed me to dismiss it.
I just tried the Outlook app and it required far less permissions then adding an exchange email through the android/lg settings. The regular settings wanted pretty much everything. Wipe, disable camera, password type, password length, password expiration, encrypt phone, disable sd card, etc etc. It had everything and probably because my company just checked everything. Now the question is if it would really do any of those things probably not because that it a further settings in Exchange but it just wants to be able to do all that.
The Outlook just wanted password rules, unlock attempts, lock screen, and encrypt phone. It asked to encrypt and I said no and phone still works. I was able to keep pattern lock screen but it disabled everything else besides pin and password. The Outlook app does not integrate well with Android so everything is contained in it's own app. I don't think it does notifications either since I sent an email and waited a good 10 minutes. My phone never went off but I open the app the email shows up but never as a notification.
So maybe the Outlook app will get you by for the time being.
Hrm - I'm on an LG G4 (EU H815 model, unlocked). No Google Exchange Services visible or available in the Play Store ...
I also have an old Galaxy S3 running 5.1.1 (PacMan rom) - that has Gmail with Exchange working just fine. It has the same version of Gmail as on the G4, but also has "Exchange Services" running. I can't find any other information on that though.
[EDIT] I just checked the link in the OP which looks like the latest apk, but the button for Play Store doesn't work - URL doesn't exist.
Quick question - I haven't disabled LG Exchange on the G4 yet - when I do it says that the app will be hidden from then on. What if one wants to re-enable it - will it still be visible on the Apps menu ?
TIA

Have you been able to figure this out? I have coworkers on a N6, N5, and a HTC One (M7), who all have our Corporate E-mail linked to their phone via either gmail or the htc e-mail app. They can all access their respective Smart Lock settings. On my phone, its grayed out.
Confused on what this does? Just lets you add a second exchange account to gmail? Are emails mixed together or do they remain separated? I like having my Email and Gmail in 2 different apps. I also like the LG email app.
I'm having a rather annoying issue with my Gmail account. It's my main account that the phone is setup on.
Sometimes I get emails as they come in, but most of the time, I have to open the app and refresh it to get any new messages. I've tried to redo all the sync settings but nothing seems to have worked.
Any ideas?

Have you tried going under the phone settings, then under accounts, and making sure that your android sync settings are enabled for all of the options Google gives that you want to sync, instead of just under the Gmail settings? You could maybe even try removing your entire Google account from that same accounts area in the phone settings and then just set it up all over again. That way you are doing your sync settings just like you were setting it up on your phone for the first time. Don't know if any info I give will be of any help or not, but thought it might be worth a try!! Hope you get it all figured out!!
It's one of the many broken things in the latest update from Verizon. Really wish I blocked all updates after the very first 5.1.1 update!!
