[Q] Installing Samsung I9505 MIUI ROM on AT&T Galaxy S4 (I337) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have been searching the forum for hours now, but could not find a definite answer. Please help.
First question: Is it possible to install Samsung I9505 MIUI ROM on I337 ?
Second question: If possible, can someone direct me to a tutorial?
I am asking this about Samsung Galaxy S4 i337 ( USA AT&T version) on 4.4.2

I would bet it is NOT possible for your i337. You say your on 4.4.2, so the only recovery available for your device is Safestrap. Since your bootloader is locked you CANNOT flash custom kernels. To run AOSP/CM/ and most likely MIUI required a different kernel than stock kernel. Safestrap on your device can ONLY run Touchwiz based Roms due to needing a stock kernel.
If you had the Original firmware like MDB or MDL and used Loki bootloader bypass you can run AOSP/CM based Roms and more than likely MIUI as well. With the Loki bypass those on MDB or MDL CAN FLASH custom kernels.

Thank you for the response. Then my new question: is there a version of MIUI that uses stock kernel? I remember reading that some people installed MIUI on bootloader locked galaxy s4 with Safetrap.

I haven't seen a MIUI thread at all. Sorry I could not be of any help with that. How old is the thread you saw? Point it out and I can take a look. Phones with MDB or MDL may have been able to since they use regular TWRP/CWM for recovery, but never seen one for Safestrap.

I am still on an older android, and rooted with recovery. How would one go about flashing the i9505 on here (i337)

What?
Are you asking if you can flash i9505 firmware on to the i337?
If so answer is not until the bootloader is unlocked, then you will likely need to flash a custom i9505 ROM and everything 'should' work but it would not be guaranteed.
Short answer, not yet.
(If you have an AT&T i337 uour bootloader is locked, Canadian i337's are not)
Now that Loki has been released, would it be safe to flash a i9505 custom ROM as long as a Loki'd kernel is flashed immediately afterward?
If that is possible, would anything need to be done for the radios to work properly for mobile data 3g/4g?
Also, I found this thread by searching...it was the only thread that came up, although I thought this would be a big deal for the community being able to flash international ROM's across all devices.

The international ROMs work great as long as you flash an i337 loki'd kernel directly afterwards. The kernels and modems are incompatible, but the international ROMs are absolutely recommended to avoid the AT&T garbage (and get updates)

Radios are not included in ROMs for compatibility reasons.
The kernel needs to have loki patch applied so just grab a kernel from the AT&T threads (TW for stock or touch wiz ROMS and AOSP for CM or AOKP based ROMs.)
I'm on Wanam lite and everything works.....though I get force closes every so often (probably something I've done not the ROM's fault)

Question with MDL

If I am on AT&T with MDL can I upgrade to 4.3 without going to MF3?

No.
However, I suggest you just install one of the 4.3 ROMS (there is at least one available already) from the development section instead of taking the full update so you can still use a custom recovery and LOKI'd ROMs..

Thanks will do that
I would check out ShoStock-i MF3 or Venoms or Ax's International Roms. At all cost keep your MDL Bootloaders and have access to custom recoveries and flash WHATEVER you want. Safestrap is nice IF your stuck on MF3 but it has its limitations on what you can flash with it. Plus I am sure once the official tar drops for the ATT MJ9 firmware you will see some Roms based on ATTs stock firmwares and STILL have the ability to go back to other older firmwares if you want. With SafeStrap you are limited to 4.2.2 Roms at this time

Will I lose my unlock with Tmobile

Im at stock att 4.3 JB firmware with MK2 bootloader.
I wish to use safestrap to install a rom (maybe GE rom or just normal TW rom)
if after I install the loki modules and my rom boots will I lose my Tmobile unlocked status since this is an att phone.
also, do I have to odin flash a modem.bin for new 4.4.2 android version or can i just simply install a 4.4.2 rom and be good with current radio or modem?
Since your are on MK2, no more Loki.
You won't lose unlock status.
Search for the all things at&t thread, it has lot of required info.
All you need for the ROM to work with T-Mobile would be the correct APN settings.

Im so confused because safestrap forum says i need to retain to a MK2 based rom but in the Goldeneye thread it says added support for safestrap
also safestrap telling me to flash mk2 modules zip after every installation do I actually need to do this? im assuming your saying mk2 doesn't need loki kernel flashed ..
Also am i restricted to only TW roms i have the US i337 att phone

Let me clear some confusion of yours.
While on MK2, safestrap recovery can be used to flash 4.3 based ROMS.
We have Deadly Venom Kitakat tool that allows us to flash certain kitkat roms from the All Things ATT thread.
You will be able to flash the Golden Eye 33.3 safestrap edition. Follow the steps mentioned in the tool.

[Q] Galaxy S4 Recovery

Hey, I have the ATT S4 rooted with the stock NB1 firmware and safestrap recovery. I'm trying to install a custom rom like Cyanogenmod or something similar, but I've been told that this isn't possible but haven't gotten a good explanation so I don't know if that's right. I was just reading about the LOKI bootloader bypass, and my question is would that allow me to change to a different recovery and put on a different ROM?
You can only use safestrap and touch wiz based roms on your device. See in the general forum, index all things at&t.....
Your bootloader is looked and Loki only works for those on mdb or mdl firmware.

There is no way to get custom recovery other than safestrap if you have MF3 or newer firmware
As stated above if you have MF3 or Newer firmwares you need tobise Safestrap. You cannot downgrade your boot loader to older bootloaders.
If you have the original firmwares MDB or MDL then you can use motochopper and Loki for root and custom recovery and use TWRP/CWM recoveries.
I have to say IF you have MDB or MDL firmwares then the Loki bypass is better. You can run ANY touchwiz or aosp based Roms, flash kernels, flash mods, do anything you want with the phone.
If you have MF3 or newer with Safestrap you are limited to ONLY Touchwiz based Roms, NO CUSTOM KERNELS, and flashing modems and mods
