OK, here's an interesting problem... My phone can turn on fine, but once it's on the power button refuses to lock the screen. If I long press the power button, it acts normally by bringing up the power down / reboot menu. Not only this but somehow it is also linked to my wifi to get stuck on "Checking the quality of your wifi connection". The first time it happened, I took off my case, removed my s-pen and it suddenly worked again, and at the exact same time the wifi kicked right in as usual and all worked fine again. I assumed my case was putting pressure on the button yet the next time I restarted my phone (incidentally my case was already off) the same problem happened. Power button wouldn't lock screen but long press functioned fine, wifi stuck. I figured maybe my s-pen being taken out may somehow so something, trying to recreate the solution that worked the first time around, but it didn't work. About 10 seconds later I tried the lock button and it worked, and subsequently the wifi kicked in again. I haven't done a factory reset or tried a restore yet, I was hoping to avoid that if possible... just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas as to what could cause something so strange. I don't see any link between the power button and wifi functioning.
My phone is a T-Mobile Note 3, stock KK rom, stock kernel
rooted.
I appreciate any insight, advice, or opinions anyone may give me. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read about my issue!

I'm having some serious issues with my phone. This morning the battery was suddenly drained completely, don’t know why yet. Then after charging the phone a bit and rebooting it, it constantly goes into driving mode and starting the voice command application. The most strange thing however is that when I choose to power off the phone, it shuts down but then automatically reboots.
I know I should try factory reset, but anyone else had this problem?
(I have original firmware and the phone isn't rooted)
EDIT:
Doing a hard reset seems to have solved the problem.
Maybe your power button is broken (constantly pressed)? Did the phone get wet?
I have not heard of this. I've heard of bootloops and the phone rebooting when trying to power off but thats usually due to custom roms and people flashing over other custom roms which causes conflict. I think factory reset may be the only option. However, with the Galaxy S there used to be a way to get into safe mode. I beleive you'd hit the menu button as soon as you saw the Galaxy S boot logo. I haven't heard of a safe mode yet for SGS2 but perhaps someone can confirm if its available in this model?
If you can still get into settings of the phone when its on, I'd try going into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and clearning data for voice commands
It almost seems as though your phone is registering home button being clicked thereby turning voice mode on and also turning it back on after a power off.

Hi,
I was have exactly same problem, reset don't resolve my issue.
Solution was to replace my phone.
Thanks for the help, gonna try factory reset first. But this doesn't look like a software problem, so probably gonna need to replace it

Well this is a strange problem. Is it possible a bread crumb got under your buttons? Or some case is so tight it is pressing on some buttons?
Don't have a case around it, but the power button isn't stuck I think because wouldn't the menu for shutting down the phone etc. appaer constantly? And if it's something under the buttons then it is just bad design, had the phone only a couple of weeks.

I had the same problem mate. And that was exactly what I thought, I actually started a thread on this problem about 2 weeks ago. Was really strange, people told me to take it back. But What I did was factory reset on the phone. Which still didn't completely solve my problem. So I left the battery out the phone over night. The most annoying thing was, the screen kept turning on, like something was being pressed, can't have been the middle button, because the menu would have come up, it didn't do that. And then to make matters worse the tap to speak driving mode kept coming up.
I then took out the battery and left it out over night. Put it back in, in the morning. Charged it up. Didn't do it again.
Hope that helps. Try it.
Ok thanks, I will try it. It is really a strange problem as you say. After the factory reset the problem showed up again but not as often as before. Also after upgrading to latest firmware today, according to the battery monitor android OS is using 45%, that looks really strange to me.
My Asus Transformer wont stop rebooting and when I turn it off, it takes me countless times to hit the power on/off button to turn it on, then it just randomly reboots every time I am connected to the internet. I have not rooted my device nor have I done anything to affect its stock state, any help at all would be much appreciated!!
I always have to hold my power button for a few second to boot it from a completely off state... Are you doing that? Or just quick pressing it?
As for the rebooting issue, since you are completely stock with out root, then I would start by uninstalling any recent apps. maybe if you remember what new apps were installed around the time the issues began... I would start there. otherwise, factory reset and see if that helps... Beyond that, i'm not sure what you can do with a stock non rooted device. good luck

I have managed to do a factory reset, and no apps were present, yet still when I went to the browser it rebooted and now I am struggling to turn it on, after the first lock screen, it reboots again. Yes, I am also holding the power button untill the screen glows. Thanks for the quick reply!
If a factory reset does not fix it, then back up any important data and get on the phone with asus to do a warranty repair (assuming you are past the return date from where you bought it)
I have returned the device and am getting a new one in a few hours. I hve done some research and i understood that the new firmware update does that to the transformer 101. Can anyone confirm that? Or am I safe to update the new device which i will recive? Thanks!
Someone gave this to me to figure out how to get it to JB.
Well, it was stock HC and worked great. no problems, he flashed the ICS that lenovo offered and didnt realize that it wiped everything including the play store.
So I went ahead and nvflashed the CM10 Version 2 on it, as the new V6 isnt in nvflash format. (sucks).
Well it got all the way through and the battery died at the cyanogen boot screen. So i had to go get the charger from him (didnt charge from USB.) and plug it in. let it charge a little bit
Well it booted up, but noticed the home button did NOT work anymore, and the wifi was dead now. Never finds anything, doesnt connect to anything.
So i tried downloading stock images, tried all the hanning things, for what little he has left on the hosting site, etc... and absolutely cannot restore wifi and home button. Also since the home button quit, CWM isnt usable. So i cant flash any CWM images, impossible as it requires the home button to respond. so trying the keylayout fix is pointless because of the chicken and the egg syndrome. I tried all the tricks like holding the button while powering into normal mode, or recovery. no change. Same deal. its just dead jim.
Once i put the factory HC back on, the Wifi did the same thing. and home didnt work still. Took it back to the lenovo JB which is what it was at when I got it, still no WIFI. but it just stays stuck on turning on.... And still, no home button.
I am at a loss.... any ideas? Everything worked before this whole fiasco started.
after trying to get into CWM at least 20 times, one time it DID finally recognize the home button just that once. So i was able to flash on V6 but it made no difference in operation on home button or wifi.
So, I got the key patch and booted back into CWM, again lost the home button. it only worked 1 time after a million tries. I wonder if there are multiple hardware versions? and i got one of the odd ones?
It requires the flash_old and oldboot files in order to take it to stock. new craps out.

I'm not sure about your WiFi problem, but I heard if you restart the tab and hold the home button while its restarting and after the lenovo screen goes away you can let go. That might work. Do it even if you're booting into CWM

I have tried that trick. It only worked the 1 time out of maybe 500000.
Wifi, the Stock HC gets stuck on Turning on. All the rest of the ROMs will turn the wifi on, but the scan is empty. and it wont connect to nothing.
Edit: Nevermind on the WiFi, its just really really weak. If i walk closer to the router it finally picks it up. I am a dumbass. My ancient g1 works great with 3 out of the 5 bars. But the Home button problem is extremely elusive.

Yeah, thats the one thing I hate about this tab is the weak WiFi strength. I've never had any problems with the home button but I've heard the people have had luck using that trick. Wish you luck

Anyone else having a similar experience and solution ? I have done a factory reset and have barely any apps. Basically when I leave it after using it I will return and be unable to turn it on. Nothing I do seems to be able to get it going again. I place it on the charger and come back a number of hours later and eventually I can get it to restart.
Not related to battery power level, and doesn't happen all the time.
Got mine today. Happened once so far. Just hold the power button for a while and it resets.
But, this better not be a daily problem.
You still have this issue?
Disable " lock on screen " option in launcher. That option give you ability tap twice to lock screen . Regurds
It only happened to me once first day, then i got two OTA updates, and it never happened again.
Update: So today at work it decided to behave seemingly out of the blue.
Heya,
So I have a problem with my Note 4 that I just cannot figure out this time around. I found that the lock screen was turning itself on even when left alone on a table and on top of that the home button is not working. After I installed a security update I had put off installing the home button worked again for about 10 minutes or so. I figured it was a software problem so opted to factory reset the device. No problem getting into the recovery menu by holding power and volume up.
Once that was done though the problem persisted. I'm inclined to think it's hardware but I figured before I throw down money on parts I'd get a second opinion just in case I'm missing something.
It's a N910-P running 6.0.1 and April's security update. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
My device is doing exactly the same thing all of a sudden... Seeing a few other threads with similar issues... I'm guessing a Google Play Services update, as the play store icon changed just about when it happened...
