[Q] Why doesn't my Bluetooth work? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
The core issue is this:
When I click enable Bluetooth it stays stuck on turning on for around 15 seconds before it goes back to green and then "tries again" by turning half-green (turning on status) and then again.
Once in a few attempts (one in a hundred or so), the Bluetooth gets turned on but gets shut off for unknown reason within around 15 seconds.
This core issue happened with the following:
Omega rom after full wipe.
Arrow rom after full wipe.
Ozcan rom after full wipe.
And most amazingly: Stock rom after full wipe.
Yes, this issue even happens with stock rom.
Full wipe includes dalvik cache, cache, system, data, internal SD card.
Now, is this a hardware issue or a software issue?
What should I do?
Thanks!

Hd2 wont propperly start anymore

I am using android NAND for a pretty long while now and it always worked great. Untill this 1 night i forgot to charge my phone and all battery is drained. So the next morning i turned my phone on with the charger in and things seemed to be ok and i went for coffee.
When i came back the screen was stuck on the startup, the black screen with "HTC" in the centre. So basically its starts up, MAGDLR does it thing and then this "black HTC" screen shows and gets stuck. Tried removing battery a couple of times and still the same.
What is the best solution for me to do now?
If losing your settings and data isn't a problem (I.e you keep a decent sync routine) then I'd do.....
Enter cwm , full backup, wipe cache and dalvik cache
Reboot,,, fixed?
No..
Into cwm, (you already backed up), wipe data factory reset,
Reboot, fixed?
Yes, see *1
No, start from beginning, full wipe, reinstall rom. Once its working, see *1.
*1 once you have the fresh unset up rom running, (and assuming you are using an ext partition) I'd go to cwm, do another full backup, and then try an advanced restore of just the SD ext partition, (then clear dalvik, since some variants of a2sd move dalvik to SD, and u don't want that restored)
If that's successfull, you will have restored all your installed apps.
If you don't have an ext partition, you could try restoring the data partition, but it'll likely restore the error too.
I did these steps as written but somehow it didnt work. Only on the first boot up it worked. So ive put another android rom on it and its working now.
Thanks for the help

[Q] Problems with Process System on PA 3.98

Hi!
I recently updated my ROM to the Paranoid Android 3.98, I did a full wipe, flashed the ROM, latest Gapps (with TWRP) and ever since the tablet has been become really laggy on opening apps or doing anything. I realised something was wrong straight after I booted it up by how long it was taking to connect to the WIFI etc.
Anyway, its hanging a lot on the unlock screen and sometimes I get a "Process System is not Responding" prompt. I've tried going back into recovery and clearing the caches/data again and its still hanging. Ive also tried using CWM recovery to wipe the tablet, flash the ROM/Gapps etc and its still really slow. Lastly, I just tried a factory reset from the settings menu and again, its still the same!
Any ideas on whats up with it and how to sort it out? I was thinking about unrooting it back to stock although I think the problem will still probably happen. I came from the PA 3.95 build and did a clean flash.
Cheers!
Chris
I think I have fixed it by following a post by Chasmodo on how to do a super-clean install.
1) I booted into recovery.
2) Did the three wipes (Data, Cache, Dalvik) several times over.
3) Went to Mount & Storage and formatted both system & cache*.
4) Flashed PA 3.98 & latest PA-Gapps.
5) Wiped both caches again and rebooted.
As soon as connecting WIFI, signing into Google I could tell it was running a lot faster again and now the lag on the unlock screen & opening apps seems to have stopped, also haven't had the "System Process isn't Responding since."
*Chasmodos version of the super-clean install didn't say to format the cache as well although I had tried just formatting the system and it didn't fix the issue. So I thought I'd try the same process with a cache format as well and now all issues seem to have been rectified.
Cheers
Chris

Wifi and Hotspot not working

I flashed CM12 on my S3 Neo (I9300I) using CWM then after a few weeks, I decided to flash the Stock ROM (I9300IXWUBNL1_I9300IOXEBNL2_SER.zip) and then wiped data and cache. After flashed, Wi-Fi does not turn on. Even the Hotspot. When I slide the switch, it reverts back instantly to off. I flashed again another firmware, but of the same device model (I9300IUBUBNK2_I9300IZTOBNK2_ZTO.zip) and wiped data and cache again. Still no luck. Still dosen't turn on. What could have happened?

I'm in a similar boat. after flashing a full rom (roughly 980mb), I found that my wifi.kr files apparently need to be replaced. i'm using a I9300IXXUBNH3, and am having trouble finding the files without having to completely wipe and image the phone, root, grab the files, then install recovery and install the rom... it's a bit drawn out for my liking.
Have you got wipe dalvik cache and cache, and when the problem stays, have you got reflash the rom?
When the problem stays, try an diffrent rom. I didnĀ“t know, that your Device is rooted.

volume and sound issue

Ever since I got this phone even on stock firmware, if I turn the phone off and then turn back on my volume and sound go away. This is not including reboots. phone works fine after a normal reboot. It is just when I turn it off to charge and then turn back on. So I decided to go ahead and flash havoc ROM and I'm still having the same issues. Anyone else experiencing this?
In order for me to fix this I have to dirty flash the zip again.
Sometimes just accessing twrp I get this issue.
Edit... This is happening on every rom I flash
2 edit... sometimes clearing dalvik and cache brings back sound (while rooted running any ROM) and even on stock firmwares , turning off phone I will eventually have to reboot recovery(stock) and wipe data, dalvik and or cache. Weird issue! Anyone?

Custom ROMs will not start...

Hello, I have been using Lineage OS for 1.5 years. Unfortunately, the last time it suddenly stopped waking up from the blank screen and I had to restart it. After rebooting the loading bar LOS frequently stutters or freezes that you need to restart again. I can only use the phone when I manage to get into the phone and turn on the active screen all the time.
I finally decided to wipe the phone and reinstall LOS, unfortunately the same thing right away.
I also tried
[EXYNOS] [UNOFFICIAL] Resurrection Remix Q V8.7.3 04/30/2022 - here the system won't turn on at all and the Resurrection Logo is stuck.
I also tried [ROM] [DISCONTINUED] [10] Havoc-OS 3.x [tbelteskt] [tre3calteskt] [trelteskt] [treltexx] - the phone easily enters the system every time, but after the screen goes blank, the phone can no longer be wake up.
Between the programs, I also tested the old original system - to my surprise - the phone works as it should without any problem.
Where can you look for the problem?
Before flashing custom ROM you should format the data partition, not just wipe it.
Installing a stock ROM, does that for you.
I don't have any old data left on the new system.
Normally every time in TWRP I use Wipe> Format Data and Wipe> Advanced Wipe and select Dalvik / ART Cache there; System; Date; Internal Storage; Cache; Preload.
I also tried to leave the old system unchanged, or partially erase it with no results.
I am using TWRP 3.5.2_9-0 from anaja.
Edit: In general, when I manage to get on the phone, if I leave the screen on, the phone will work all the time, but if I leave it off longer, I may not turn on the phone anymore and need to restart.
On the other hand, with the inputs to the system, system jams on Resurection happened to me, but they stopped.
Edit 2: The systems that work for me are:
[ROM][N910C/H/U/S/L/K][GraceUX][A3-A5 July Security Base]Air Rom v3.0
[ROM][7.0][TW][Exynos][Stable]Refined Nougat N7FE Port 6.0
