Well for starters, if you're on 4.4.2, are you sure you've been flashing the correct ROMs for the new bootloader? Right now only a very few ROMs support it, namely the cm11 test builds, gummy ROM, and...maybe the really long named one that's basically stock but pared down. If you have in fact tried all of those, have you tried restoring your stock backup, which I'm assuming you made because rule 1 is always make a backup?

You flashed a ROM which is not compatible with the new bootloader. A new thread won't help you. Take RSD Lite and flash the stock KitKat. Then the phone should boot again.

I am having the same problem with my xt907. It will boot and loop on the bootloader. I also can not get to the recovery. Rsd isn't working. Matt's utility isn't working. It sounds like a soft brick but I could be wrong.

What system version were you on? What did you do to cause it? What did you flash in rsd? Is your boot loader unlocked?

Bootloader is unlocked.
I believe it was 4.1.2, but i was on cm11 to long to remember what firmware I was on exactly.
I tried to flash stock back in rsd and thats when all hell broke loose.

Did you try the 4.4.2 or a different one? What is it saying in rsd where does it fail? You say it isn't working can you elaborate?

I tried both, 4.1.2 and 4.4.2. Error was the get var code. I even deleted the lines and tried again. At one point I did get to system.img and then failed. All it does is boot and is stuck on the warning unlocked bootloader label.

Still didn't provide much detail... But try removing this line
Code:
<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
and try the basics OEM USB cable a different cable use a USB 2.0. port try a different port ensure there is enough free space for the program to run...

There is plenty of hard drive space, is there specific it should be ran. I'm not really sure how the program functions behind the curtain. I will also use a new cord.
Just want to thank you for the patience and help so far. This the first time I haven't ever been able to bring a phone back to life. Lol

Also do I need to zip the file back after editing the lines in the XML file? I've done it both ways before but just wanting some clarity.

No, you don't have to. Just select your edited XML file in RSD Lite.

I've given up, just went and bought the prepaid moto g on Verizon, waiting for the boot loader to be unlocked.
Just want to thank for the help anyways.

Try Droid razr m utility if your on 4.1.2
Or house of moto.
House of moto works but is tricky to work.

Maybe its not allowing it since it is already updated. You could revert to ICS then start over and that should do the trick.

AP Fastboot - from powered off, hold down volume-up AND volume-down, then while holding those, press and hold the power button until you see a menu pop-up that's simply white text on a black background. Once that comes up, use volume-down to move down to AP Fastboot, and volume-up to select it. Then plug it into your computer, fire up rsdlite (6.1.4! ), open the file linked in the OP, and go!

[q] help!!! Seriously bricked razr m!!!

Let's start from the top. I have a razr m running the leaked 4.1.1 jb rom with the modified root that uses SuperSu instead of superuser. I went into the filesystem and swapped out my build.prop with the one from a Google galaxy nexus thinking it would allow me to download more apps from the play store. (Google wallet, etc) the phone wouldnt boot, it just locked on the motorola logo, so i went into recovery and wiped data as well as cache and tried to reinstall the jb leak, it failed because the build.prop didnt match. I fired up RSD lite and tried to fastboot back to ICS but it keeps failing on step 17/22 where its flashing the system.image.ext4. Because of the partial fastboot now the phone wont even boot to recovery, it just goes straight to the fastboot menu. If anyone could help all posts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Your phone is repeatedly booting into fast boot because of the failed flash. This is normal and will continue until you have a successful flash. What version of RSD are you using? What does it say when it fails?
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
I am running RSD lite V5.7 on a windows XP SP3 machine. it says FAIL in the result box and ity fails system.image.ext4 because "phone returned FAIL"
Try RSD 6.1.4 and/or I seem to remember some people having to run as admin on XP if I'm not mistaken.

[Q] Bricked Help Please!

Hi - I have had my Nexus for several months and its been great, using nightlies from CM and nothing too exotic.
Anyway - the latest nightly completely messed up my phone, can't make calls etc, so I tried to flash it back to a stable release - the problems were still there.
Then I tried another CM - and I entered the CM symbol on loop - so I knew something was wrong.
So I try for the complete factory image reinstall, I wipe EVERYTHING from the phone so all I have now is a blank phone.
So I can get into bootloader - I can get into recovery - but I can't do anything as there are no files on the phone (so recovery doesn't help).
I downloaded the Google Nexus 4 Toolkit - and when I try and connect the phone via USB - it can't even locate it - the program says "Waiting for device".
I'm a bit lost here lads! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I'm not sure but similar thing happened to me with my S3, I was bricked for days, something I tried was UNrooting the device, completely wiping it clean with stock firmware and doing few other specific things for my device, maybe try flashing a stock Rom to get it alive again and once your into your device then you can flash whatever else you want, another good thing to do is always make a backup of your rom Inc efs files, but try this now you may be able to get the stock firmware from here or online, hope it helps

I had the same issue I installed the latest Samsung drivers onto the pc still had no joy and I'm sure I found a stock firmware from a site saved it to my external card n tried flashing it via recovery, it was ok after that, mine was an md5 file, try that also if it doesn't work with the drives, try using Odin, hopefully it should work, sorry I can't be more precise as my experience was with a different device, hopefully you'll get it working, gather as much information you can about unbricking, there's some videos on YouTube you may find one for your same device

If you're using the tool kit there is an option to install the drivers. That should be the first thing you do. Try a different cable or port or PC until you get the right combination and fastboot sees the device. Good luck

You should be in fastboot mode while you're trying to install the drivers, but follow the instructions in the toolkit. It's pretty much idiot proof.

Then I followed these instructions to flash stock 4.3 on.

You don't need udb debugging in fastboot mode. Flash the full factory image.

Managed to flash full factory image.
When I flashed 4.3, its stucked at "Android is upgrading.... Starting Apps" screen.
When I flashed 4.2 its managed to boot successfully but I don't get the network coverage.
When i try to search network its "Error in searching network".
The baseband version is stated as unknown.
Reflash 4.3 and wait for the installation to finish. If it gets stuck on "Android is upgrading" just restart the phone. This time use THIS toolkit. it has always worked for me.
Me too did try flashing 4.3 again and again twice but still stuck up with x screen.

I too had this problem with my Nexus 4. I flashed the factory image (I tried with Android 4.2 and 4.3) with fastboot and I got exactly the same errors as you. I finally sent back my device to Google, the new one should arrive next week. I have no idea what can cause this problem :/
This thread is old, but if you have a problem with booting, you don't have to go unlocking bootloader and flashing anything if it can be fixed by just going into stock recovery and wiping cache or factory reset (you will lose apps data, but not data in your phone storage.)
Hold Power + Volume Down when the phone is off to go into "fastboot mode". Then use the Volume keys to navigate to Recovery. In there, press some combination of buttons of Volume and Power to bring up the menu (I forgot what the combination is, just fiddle around), then you can wipe cache or factory reset.
If even factory reseting doesn't help, you might need to unlock bootloader and flash factory firmware, but if you unlock the bootloader it will wipe the phone entirely and you will lose all your data. You can try to boot the phone and connect it to your PC, even if it doesn't boot fully there might be a chance MTP is loaded so you can copy files off.

You should do a factory reset in recovery before flashing. Follow the instruction here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312, and make sure you use the correct firmware image when flashing it.

[Q] Rooted, soft bricked phone with locked bootloader

Basically what the title says.
I just want to preface this by saying I'm a beginner and I have no idea what I'm doing.
I tried to use safestrap and it did delete all my data but I accidently deleted my backup and my ROM I wanted to install.
Safestrap doesn't seem to want to work anymore. It gives me the screen saying that so and so is disabled and it will boot in 10 seconds, but I can't interact with this screen.
What can I do? Safestrap just doesn't work so I can't flash a ROM from SDcard, and the only thing that seems to work is Fastboot, and that's locked, so what are my options?

You can use RSD to flash the firmware from here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ , you can use House of Moto http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/28162-house-of-moto-23/ , or you can update to stock KK (keep in mind you'll lose root on KK) http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/45495-how-to-xt907-upgrade-to-kitkat-ota/
Sorry but what file am I supposed to be using to flash? The entire folder?
Again, I don't know much about this, I'm just a beginner. I probably should have heeded people's warnings about possibly bricking your phone.
