Hi - I have had my Nexus for several months and its been great, using nightlies from CM and nothing too exotic.
Anyway - the latest nightly completely messed up my phone, can't make calls etc, so I tried to flash it back to a stable release - the problems were still there.
Then I tried another CM - and I entered the CM symbol on loop - so I knew something was wrong.
So I try for the complete factory image reinstall, I wipe EVERYTHING from the phone so all I have now is a blank phone.
So I can get into bootloader - I can get into recovery - but I can't do anything as there are no files on the phone (so recovery doesn't help).
I downloaded the Google Nexus 4 Toolkit - and when I try and connect the phone via USB - it can't even locate it - the program says "Waiting for device".
I'm a bit lost here lads! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I'm not sure but similar thing happened to me with my S3, I was bricked for days, something I tried was UNrooting the device, completely wiping it clean with stock firmware and doing few other specific things for my device, maybe try flashing a stock Rom to get it alive again and once your into your device then you can flash whatever else you want, another good thing to do is always make a backup of your rom Inc efs files, but try this now you may be able to get the stock firmware from here or online, hope it helps

I had the same issue I installed the latest Samsung drivers onto the pc still had no joy and I'm sure I found a stock firmware from a site saved it to my external card n tried flashing it via recovery, it was ok after that, mine was an md5 file, try that also if it doesn't work with the drives, try using Odin, hopefully it should work, sorry I can't be more precise as my experience was with a different device, hopefully you'll get it working, gather as much information you can about unbricking, there's some videos on YouTube you may find one for your same device

Unfortunately I believe your Odin is Samsung specific.
I think Im in a bit of trouble as I cant even use any PC based solutions given the phone is connected to the PC by USB and I have bootloader menu up.
Definitely going to need some help.

If you're using the tool kit there is an option to install the drivers. That should be the first thing you do. Try a different cable or port or PC until you get the right combination and fastboot sees the device. Good luck

You should be in fastboot mode while you're trying to install the drivers, but follow the instructions in the toolkit. It's pretty much idiot proof.

I ended up searching for the drivers when I downloading the SDK from Google - seemed to recognize the Fastboot set up.
Then I followed these instructions to flash stock 4.3 on.

I feel kind of sick...
I hope someone can assist. I screwed up, big time.
I decided to full wipe my device and choose to flash stock using Toolkit. However, usb debugging isn't shown as being enabled (I think) and I'm unable to get back into a ROM to enable it, since fully wiping my entire storage.
I have tried reinstalling drivers on so many occasions, I've tried pushing files, using sideload. Nothing works. I literally cannot find a way to flash any rom onto the device. I have CWM recovery, but no way of getting zips onto the device. I cannot access usb debugging. Toolkit always reads the serial for fastboot but never shows any active devices for ADB.
I'm stumped and currently have no way of using my device.
I should've never tried to wipe it to begin with.
Thanks to anyone who might be able to assist. I'm sorry to burden you all.
if you can access via fastboot just flash your system.img to the phone with fastboot flash system system.img!
too bad google pulled the nexus 4 factory image
I have the factory image for the Nexus 4. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the link to it on my Drive.
Use the nexus 4 toolkit to download the stock image for the phone and use keys on phone to boot to fastboot. Then connect phone to your PC and run the nexus 4 toolkit. It should detect your phone in fast boot mode and allow you to flash stock rom

Has anyone got a fool proof method to root nexus 7 on 4.2.2?
I have tried all the different methods, toolkits etc suggested but my laptop will not connect and sits there waiting for a connection.
When when I enable USB debugging I don't get the RSA authentication. I believe this is the root cause.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its not the toolkits or the methods that are the problem its the tablet. Try factory reset on the tablet, you're going to lose all the data when you boot loader unlock anyway

Hi, pda...
I'm not sure there is a 'foolproof' way to do anything, when it comes to matters of tech...
In my experience, technology often behaves capriciously and bloody awkwardly at times (as though it was demonically possessed by the 'imp of of the perverse') - and oft-times, some trivial, COMPLETELY NON-OBVIOUS reason will be the cause of much consternation and many hours of crying, cursing and swearing:crying:.
------------------------------
Still, having said all of that...
... are you sure you have the latest version of ADB installed?; this was updated by Google a few months ago and incorporates the new security/RSA measures you refer to.
You can get it from here...(along with Fastboot, ADB is part of the Android SDK)...
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
...your need the ADT-bundle for your computer type, either Windows or Linux (click on 'Download for other Platforms' for a full list).
Download, unzip and install.
------------------------------
This is also worth a look...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233852
As rooting methods go, this is about as 'foolproof' as you're ever likely to get.
Good luck.
Rgrds,
Ged.
Thanks for the help guys.
Went through all the manual options for driver installation using WUG Root Toolkit.
Finally got it working using the PdaNet drivers and setting usb to use PTP.
Cheers
Hey guys so I made a huge booboo. I was using the nexus root toolkit 1.72. And I wanted to flash stock. I downloaded the stock files and tried to install but it said my baseband which was .33 was too old and needed .84. So I tried to flash the Google stock image. However when I did that I never backed up the previous cyanogen I was running. Now the phone is stuck in a Boot loop. When I try to go to recovery it doesn't allow me to. It brings up an android guy that's on his back with a red hazard symbol. Oh and also when I try to re install the Roms it won't work says adb isn't present but I have all the drivers. I can't put the phone into USB debugging because it won't turn on so its like I'm screwed no matter what. Do you guys have any idea how I can fix my bricked nexus 4? I'll do anything.

Ok so i just bought a new lg g2 d801.
I unlocked it succesfully, then went on to root it succesfully using ioroot.
Then I tried installing twrp using freegee and it didnt work giving me comparable results to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50501346&postcount=867
so I went on to install it manually from terminal emulator (I installed the rogers version as suggested by another user here as this is exactly my situation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50502408&postcount=869
I followed this method for the code in terminal emulator:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
replacing "recoveryfilename" to the name of the rogers .img.
Now the phone just boots normally into the stock interface but it is all glitchy, no wifi, computer doesnt recognize it and then within about 1 minutes it boots into the lg logo with the "turning on" sound randomly and keeps doing that.
adb devices gives nothing. I cant browse the contents of it but it does seem to be interacting with the computer since it is saying "driver updating... etc."
Ahhhh not too sure what to do from here.
If anyone can guide me I will be infinitely grateful, so discouraged right now.
I just want to bring it back to stock, nothing valuable at all on it, I have had it for 4 hours.

Ok so I have managed to succesfully reinstall the original exact videotron firmware that the phone was running just one day ago.
There is something else going on. Its still rebooting every 10 seconds, whenever there is a text input prompt the cursor goes when I press within the box but the keyboard never appears. Wifi is non functional. Imei is saying "null" now whichI find extremely worrying...
Anybody heard of this before? I would really love to understand what is happening to this seemingly incredibly fragile phone.
Im about ready to toss it in the trash.
It seems like it has a virus or something.
Every now and then during the short glimpses of functioning it undergoes, there is a small grey box that appears near the bottom that says error.
It is not recognising my sim card either.
Please somebody help me out, I am willing to pay for help at this point.
Much love,
Zach
Also, I can never close/lock the screen. If I close it, its a guaranteed reboot. Every signle time. so for the phone to work screen has to stay on. 24 hours ago it was showing absolutely no signs of any of this
Ok so I have a problem and there is so much information it is really hard to track a solution down.
I have an LG G2 through Verizon. I finally decided to play with it, so I :
1) rooted it with iOroot and things went well. I decided to also try a custom rom.
2) I downloaded ROM Manager and through that I downloaded a Hellfire rom.
3) Downladed Titanium Backup and did a full back up.
4) Found the app Autorec and used that to downgrade and flashed TWRP recovery.
5) Booted into TWRP and tried to flash the Hellfire ROM. It failed.
6) Now I cannot find my back-up or
7) Get back to LG recovery. The CW11-zip doesn't work as well.
I get the LG boot screen and after about 5 seconds it says "Security Error" and powers off.
I can get back to the TWRP recovery, but with nothing to flash, I'm lost.
Should I try to sideload a recovery using ADB? Which one do I need to get?
Really lost at this point, and could use someone's help to walk me through the whole process. I know that all of it has been covered on other threads, but it gets all jumbled up when there are over 100's of pages in one thread.
I desperately need help from here. Can anyone help me out?

Your computer does not need to see it.
If you get an OTG cable you can mount a thumb drive in twrp and flash a rom from the thumb drive. Just make sure it's formated in fat32 so that it's recognised.

Ps
Once you are up and running again never use rom manager.
Also make a nandroid backup from within Twrp. Titanium only backs up apps and their data not your rom.

No. OTG (on the go) allows you to attach other devices to the phone. Eg mouse, keyboard, etc. In this case you want to attach an external memory source. The easiest would be a cheap thumb drive or an sd reader.
Think of it as being the same as having an internal micro sd.
Twrp can mount this drive and from it you can do anything you could do from the internal sd. So if you have a rom or a backup on the drive you can flash it just as you would from the internal sd.
Hope that makes sense.
otg cables are pretty cheap (less than $5). You should be able to pick one up in any good electronic store or online.
I have a few of them but unfortunately I'm in New Zealand

Ok on my computer now.
So you have connected the drive to TWRP.
Go to mount - make sure usb otg is ticked.
Go to install. At the top, just below where it says select zip to install tap on storage. From there you should see USB OTG. If you select it you should be in the drive.
Oh. It make take me a couple of days to find one of them. I'll look tomorrow.

Go to install. At the top, just below where it says select zip to install tap on storage. From there you should see USB OTG. If you select it you should be in the drive.

I want to thank you first thing for helping me. I really do appreciate it.
Ok, so I bought a usb drive that I can plug directly into my phone. I loaded a couple of ROM's along with gapps. Both are in un-extracted .zip files. I mounted my usb and installed the .zips and it said it was successful. I then wiped my Dalvic/cache and rebooted. Nothing. It goes to the LG logo, hangs for about 30 seconds, vibrates and then restarts and does this process over and over.
What did I do wrong? I downloaded the CM 11 for the LG from Verizon directly form the Cyangenmod website and still no luck. Any ideas?
thanks again,

Titanium backup doesn't backup up full Roms it only backups apps that's why it doesn't show up you have to backup through recovery

If you flashed cm11 it won't work blame cm because they haven't updated it for the new ota update and its been out like 3 months try a ROM called Mahdi ROM I know I sound like a broken record but its the most stable ROM we have right now and it works with the new update its in the g2 android development download ROM and the vs980 patch and it will work

OK I'll give it a try. Any ideas where to find it? Do I flash the rom and the patch at the same time?

Ok it and the other ROM I flashed must've both been bad. I flashed a G3 rom and it is working pretty good.
Now, my next question is, how and where do I get a stock firmware to flash?
Go to lg g2 forum!are you trying to go stock unrooted?
vs98010b stock rooted
No I was trying to actually get a room flashed. They ended up being bad roms. Got a rom flashed and was excellent.
Thanks!
