im just a little worried if anything could go wrong. i mean i have backed up everything... EFS, nandroid backup etc.
So worst case scenario it just wont boot yeh? i can install a G900F stock rom back on through odin and everything will be ok?

You will never know mate. The worst case is your device will be bricked ? it all depends on your nerve mate. There are still chances you could restore your bricked phone to normal by using odin, make sure you have a back up of your stock rom
My advice is to use custom rom

only thing that is pissing me off is that I think my handset got shipped with a faulty gps module and now that my knox counter is 1 my warranty is void. so basically everything on my phone works except for gps
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

That sucks. I feel for you bro. But just to make sure it is defective. Flash the original region of your phone brand to test before jumping to that unfortunate conclusion

I live in australia and I bought a g900f which I believe is for uk or europe. For australia its g900i and I cannot install the firmware onto g900f. But when I installed gps toolbox it didn't even give me anything. I can understand its one thing to take a long time to get a lock but not seeing any satellites at all is another thing. Ive tried around 10 different gps.conf files designed for australia satellites

Ok, you can do it.
I intended to test it myself first coz I wanted to flash G900F on my G900I in reverse.
Now it's impossible for me coz unfortunately I have been ended up with downloading corrupted firmware due to unreliable internet connection (5 times 2day so far)
If you're desparate to flash G900I, you MUST back up your current firmware PIT file. In case you fail to flash G900I firmware, that PIT file will be used along with your stock firmware to recover your phone to its pristine state.
To do it, please follow this guide , if you're using G900I 16Gb, you could download the PIT file from the OP immediately.
Hope it could help you, please let me know with your attempt. I'd like to help you out in case any thing goes wrong with your phone

ok, so here is the update. since installing G900I firmware failed through odin due to bootloader incompatibility i managed to install it through mobile odin. worked like a charm and even had the telstra bootanimation lol. wifi, bluetooth and everything seemed to be working fine. however my gps is still not working and the G900I seems to have the same gps.conf file as the euro version. i definately believe my gps module is either faulty or not connected to the board properly. is there any app that can tell if the gps module is even there or turned on as no one else is having this problem.

[Q] i337M Wifi/Network problems after flashing back to factory rom in ODIN

Can anyone Help me out here or try and lead me in the correct direction? So I tried to flash my Galaxy S4 i337M on BELL back to factory in odin. I used the I337MVLUAMDJ_I337MOYAAMDJ_I337MVLUAMDJ_HOME.tar.md5 But after flashing and booting up the phone Wi-Fi no longer works along with the phone either says "emergency calls only" or different SIM errors. I'm 100% sure the SIM works perfect I tested it in both or my other phones my Blackberry 9300 and my galaxy S3 and no problems. I have also downloaded that same bell rom from 3 different locations to see if rom downloaded incorrectly. The Phone is also rooted and has the philz_touch_5.18.2-jfltecan.tar.md5 recovery. Any help would be much appreciated.

cant say about the wifi issue, im having my own issues too..but download and flash the correct or compatible kernel for that rom .. that usually fixes sim errors or no signal
Do you have Knox issued in download mode? If so, you need to install 4.3 firmware only

Means you tripped knox. Warranty is now void, and knox itself cannot be used, which has some corporate implications, but if you dont use active sync then it doesn't matter. Now that youve done that, enjoy flashing whatever you want. Cf auto root will give you root, then id install clockworkmod myself via rom manager, and look for a rom to flash. If you wanna keep stock can use xposed to tweak.

so last night i flashed the bell 4.3 ROM and WiFi did start working. I do have signal however I'm still getting a unregistered Sim error. is there any kernel you would recommend? I'm willing to try anything at this point. I bought this phone and not more then a few days after getting it I screw my self out of using it.

If you flashed the stock rom, you'll already have the stock kernel. Did you perform factory resets after you flashed stock? You'll want to, i find it help. If you flashed back to odin with stock, and didn't unlock at some point, should auto assign apn, etc.
Can you confirm eimi and apn are correct? Did you clean flash? Wiping davlik, cache, and factory reset?

So guys i figured out my problem..... Which really sucks... so I bought this phone off of kijiji. the reason why my phone shows up as unrecognized sim is because apparently the phone is stolen.... after just getting off the phone with bell I found this out. so I'm out $450 bucks... I don't know if its possible but is there maybe anyway for me to revive this phone still? change the imei # maybe? idk...
You could unlock it i suppose and use on another carrier, you'd need to purchase a new sim or get one on a plan from a new carrier, unless it gets listed somehow. Not much experience with stolen handset. Maybe go back thru kijiji support and push for a refund.

I don't really wanna put anymore money into this phone if unlocking it doesn't work. and I tried to get a hold of the guy that sold the galaxy to me but no such luck. I think I just have a mini tablet on my hands? either that or a paper weight.
Sim card is like 50 bucks at most. Id unlock it (understand you'll lose LTE) and use a sim from another carrier. Can get them for travel or even online.

. I would unlock, and see if you can borrow a friends sim on a different carrier to make a few calls. If it works, try and get the new carrier to sell you a SIM. they may or may not, depends if the device comes back stolen for them too.
there are guides here you can use to unlock. Usually just a code and combination of presses to unlock. Don't need to pay for it. Search out a few guides. Isn't all that hard, and theres a few apps that do it too.

so just as you recommended I went on you tube and found a free way to unlock my phone. but even after unlocking it and using both a valid Koodo and Fido sims from my friends neither of them worked. both left with the same problem "unregistered sim / emergency calls only" So is there any real way to get my phone fixed? I dont think its possible to change the IMEI? not to imagine that its probably not legal... Any idea if I was to get a smashed s4 even if it was the i337M and say it was the US i337main motherboard would swapping it work?

[Q] Flashed stock rom, now no network?

Hi there, new to the forums posting but I read here constantly. I have an sm-900w8 note from Telus in Canada. I was running a custom rom before and decided I wanted to go back to stock before the Kitkat release. Anyway, I flashed the rom from sammobile.com that was for my phone (the link said it was for telus and the file even ends in TLS). So I flash it using odin and everything is perfect, the phone reboots and odin is finished. After that I decided I wanted to clear all my data and apps off the phone as well so I did a factory reset. The next time I turn the phone on everything is working (wifi gps ect) but I can't get on the network and it says I don't have a valid SIM. Also I notice the app packages from telus are not the correct ones and one of them is labelled Bell. So I am guessing the site has the bell firmware for telus as well? This doesn't matter to me but I do need my network running. Do you think it would just be a modem problem? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated guys!

The first and most important question: Do you have a backup of your EFS folder?
If so, you'll be happy. If not, prepare for the worst case scenario.

Seems you have installed a carrier FW on your device and it has SIM LOCKED it. try flashing another.
EDIT: @donalgodon - it's only really EFS when it boot loops and shows Android process not responding etc :good:

Well, that's not exactly accurate. The phone can boot with a corrupted EFS, but you will get no network access (and no IMEI number.)
It's happened to me, so I know it's possible. It's a common symptom of the OP's issues on Samsung devices.

Yeah I am sure I'm not in dire straights yet and lucily I have my backup phone to use for now. I am wondering though, sammobile is the most legit source for stock firmware around, do you guys have any suggestions? Or can I possibly even try just flashing a new modem through odin? (I have never done this but seems easy enough)

True, however, OP states that it was Telus FW that was downloaded and flashed...but it's showing BELL.settings, So the probability of it being EFS is low, it's sim locked the device via the BELL firmware more than likely. Reflashing the correct or unbranded firmware will indeed fix it

Well Sammobile isn't immune to mistakes, but it's rare it happens, they're genuine enough.. You could try the modem, first thing I'd do is test the back up and see if it's the downloaded ROM that has cause the issue.
And yes, you can flash the modem via Odin.

[Q] i9505 Almost Dead

Hi all
I bought a new samsung S4 i9505 ---without guaranty---
2 days ago the device started restarting and the sound goes dead and there can't be anything to make the device produce any sound neither from the front speaker nor from the main speaker nor even the headphones !!
I did a hard reset and voila -or i thought so- the device finally worked fine completely , until after about an hour when it started freaking out and not responding and the sound went dead again , restarting the device only sent it to a boot loop !
Finally today i installed a complete system using ODIN and it worked fine again for only an hour and then it went to the boot loop
I plugged the phone to the charger and powered it on and it worked smoothly but with no sound at all again :X
So can any guy help me sort this problem out please
Thanks in advance
you mean you bought a used samsung s4 with no warranty? and this is a wrong thread. it should be moved to q&a forum

Stores usually offer warranty.
So there's something odd at the middle.
Maybe you bought it from some dealer on the street..and those usually never sell you anything good.
Well the store did give me a warranty but only for software issues , and he said this must be a hardware issue.
So is this true ?

I asked WHEN, not WHERE.
When is time related. Where is location related.
Also, warranties usually are all-rounders. Meaning they offer service to software and hardware related issues.
So why did they offer only software?
Anyway. If it is hardware related then there is nothing you can do, except to change the parts.
LOL
My bad , i read it like where , and was like what difference does it make where i got it , my mistake
anyway as i said it is not a big firm or anything like that is just a small shop only providing software warranties
and as i said in the first post i got it about a month ago
i will try flashing with pit file
thanks for the advice

Didn't see that info
Anyway. What I am trying to say is that maybe they knew about the phone having issues and that's why they offered only software warranty (A bit paranoic, I know)
once the phone boots up try dialing *#0*# and let us know how that goes. This MAY be a kernel issue. happens when they probably have given you an S4 with a different model number, with a different firmware flashed. (sometimes i9505 vs. i9515 due to different chips) What is the model number shown in the download mode? i9505? And Knox Status?
The service tests all OK except both speaker tests
The download mode shows i9505
i don't know what this Knox is

So your bootloader doesnt say anything about knox? What version of android are you running?
KNOX cernerl lock : 0x0
KNOX warranty void: 0x1
i was on latest jellybean , tried flashing it with odin and the problem didn't go away
tried lollipop and it is just the same
when i turn the phone on it gives the booting sound hangs about a min or tow boots up , sometimes doesn't even complete booting, sometimes the sound stays functional for a few mins then stops sometimes it instantly after the boot stops
could it be some minor issue like battery malfunction maybe ?
or is it a big issue ?
i don't want to take it to samsung and pay the fix if i can fix it my self because i am not good at turkish and they speak so little english that i will not be able to make them understand the problem

oh, then i have no idea bro. visit a service centre, and dont explain them much, just ask them to check the speaker. make sure to go with a stock rom

No service after rooting

So I got this Note 3 as a gift from a relative. So I don't have much info on it. Apart from it having Vodafone Bloat pre-installed. I have the device on stock rom Android version 4.4.2, and NG1 baseband. So I tried rooting with CF-autoroot and it successfully rooted but unfortunately ever since I rooted it, there's no network. It reads the sim, but it doesn't register to any network. I also installed Xposed right after rooting before realizing the issue when trying to download modules (since samsung has a bad habit of showing me network bars even without a sim)
So now I'm in dire need of a solution since this is my only working phone at the moment and I'll be leaving tomorrow for Eid at a relative's house where I won't have my PC.
I've looked around in the forums but there's no definite solution. No, I didn't flash stock back yet. I'll have to wait till 12AM when my ISP doubles my speed. But any tinkering I can do now?

I will try that!
Flashed thrice and the third time's a charm. Got everything back!
Did you flash the entire rom or just the modem? Let us know in case someone else is facing the same problem. Thanks.

S7 Edge rebooting constantly

Hi folks, my wife's S7 Edge kept on freezing then rebooted itself. I tried everything to try and fix it and then performed a factory reset. All seemed fine until Google Play Services needed updating to enable other Google Apps to work. As soon as the updated Google Play Services app tries to install, the phone reboots itself and sometimes goes into a boot loop. I've taken out the memory card, cleared the cache and data in Google Play Services as well.
Can anyone help with this?
The phone is on EE in the UK.
Thanks in advance

Same problem here.. sometimes my s7 edge turns off and back on randomly.. then stuck in a boot loop.. after a while it will boot normally. But that will take like an hour or something..
I did try to remove the sd card ect.. but still the same problem.
Don't know what causes the problem.. thought I had it after a system update a or 2 month ago...
Maybe flashing a new stock Rom with firmware will work?
But I do think know if that voids the warranty or trip the Samsung knox..
Kind Regards,
Toxicz

Thanks for the information jetboss!
Does it matter if I flash a other kind of csc ect to the Galaxy s7 edge? I have read that you are able to flash the csc home if you want to keep your data. And the csc version if you want to completely wipe all the data on the phone..
I have a galaxy s7 edge (sm-g935f) from the Netherlands.
So downloading the latest Netherlands version on Sammobile should be fine?
Kind regards,
Toxicz

well from experience the files from Sammobile are just the pda files i dont think you need to flash the csc unless you're using a rom from the different region, i could be wrong but just use the Netherlands version.

Thanks, I only don't know what version I need to take. There are like 4 options to choose at the country.. is there any app that checks the csc / pda numbers?

This also happened to me twice, but it only did in a SPECIFIC physical location, while I had bluetooth / wifi / location services on (in Rio's Olympics, just outside of the Beach volleyball arena). I had stock rom, ZTO (Brazil) CSC. My phone is the Edge, international variant (G935F).
It got me thinking if it could be something related to a Beacon (BLE) or something like that. It never happened again, ever, only in an exact location, specified above.
