my dads tablet screen cracked while i was borrowing it and now i am looking for a replacement.... i have searched on google and ebay with no luck wondering if anyone has been successful

Just dropped my tegra note 7 off our fire engine (from the top :crying: it fell out of my gear).
So the corner of the glass is now broken. And I can't fine replacement screen/glass anywhere online!
Any suggestions?

well in theory you can heat the old glass off and get some stock cut to size from a proper supplier.
nvidia seem very lax at releasing spares out there, you cant get them off themselves and they claim it is the reposibility of the rebrander. pathetic really. just like the power sockets.
from what I can see the glass is not properly glued as it is so is a weak point.

Well I dropped my G1 the other day and it busted the outer glass part. The LCD is fine and it still works perfect. I have looked everywhere,with no luck of finding any parts for them. So I called HTC and they told me 150-250 to replace the glass!! So I was wondering if any one know anyone that does G1 Repair or if anyone know of another phone that has more ava. parts for it with a 3.17" Screen? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Nope, I got AT&T. Was thinking of taking apart the phone and getting the glass measurements and having a custom cut piece of glass.

I read that the same screen is in use on the iphone 3g, I doubt its true they probably meant type or sumthin, maybe worth a check...
on the old palm pdas you could replace just the glass if the layer under it isn't damaged, this may no longer be possible with these screens, once the bigtime flashing begins there will be lots of bricks available pretty cheap, maybe you should keep an eye out for somebody who pooched the dev bootloader install then after you convince them they killed it you could buy it maybe for less than the HTC price...
gotta say, that sucks if you were a tmob customer you'd have a few options...

I've never had a broke phone since my Nokia 8210.
Well, some idiot had placed out one of those kinds of plastic bands you use to seal packages with, a black one.
It was pitch dark and I fell as the plastic ring got snared around my feet. Obviously my Jabra bt3030 got pushed against the screen and it got severely cracked.
My insurance company seems to be covering the whole phone except a small sum. This was from the phone part, but I got to see if I can get something from the health insurance as I hit my head and scratched my hand (though not likely but I can always try)
The touch seems to work most of the time, though it reacts slowly but some times It's just dead.
This really sucks.
I'm dead serious when I'm talking that there was no way that the band could be seen when walking.

It is glass. But you can not simply cut a piece of glass to the same dimension as the touchscreen is integrated into the glass cover. So yes you will need to get a htc or aftermarket replacement part.
The interesting thing is that the repair cost you quoted is identical to the cost of the copay if you go with the Asurion device insurance T-mo offers. So device insurance would just be a waste of money at $5 a month if you end up with broken glass.
Looks like I will just have to hold onto it until aftermarket parts come out. I busted mine by letting it slip out of my hand while talking on it....then it took a 6ft fall to eventually land face first on concrete.....I didnt even wanna pick it up cause i new it was messed up and if it wasnt I was gonna call HTC and give them props! I have a ava. upgrade from AT&T Maybe get a Iphone until this one gets fixed then sale iphone on ebay for 5x wuts its worth.
The iphone's screen seems to crack pretty nice as well.
I hope changing the glass on the G1 isn't as frustrating as on the Iphone.

Cracked screen replacement with compatible HW from third party --when?
I cracked the LCD of my G1 after about three weeks and have noted that neither PPCTechs nor MobileKangaroo have yet acquired a source for the replacement screen.
My understanding is that HTC currently charges what one thread in another forum (http://www.allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4226) quoted as "a minimum of $238.00" to make this repair.
I expect this repair to be offered soon by third parties for about $150, likely using a non-HTC screen product to replace the damaged one.
Has anyone heard any reports about forthcoming availability of such hardware? If so, then are there any non-HTC services to make the replacement?

This waht i found out
so have the same issue and this is what I found out
so from my understanding there are 2 part to the lcd the outer glass touch sensor and the inner lcd. if the the screen is just cracked and you can see the image the u have to replace both. attached are the part descriptions fromt he g1 service manual. and below is a link of a site that sells them, but for some reason they sell the touch scrren with the outer bezel making it cost more. i called htc to order just the touch sensor glass but they said the dont sell replacements, they just fix em

I contacted the seller of the screen and he/she told me that It's only the screen. If the G1 cracks It's the digitizer glass that cracks first. Then if you are unlucky the screen cracks as well. I managed to only crack the digitizer glass. The screen beneath is totally fine. Unfortunately removing the glass from the digitizer plastic was very painful and I managed to wreck the flat cable of the digitizer so that's beyond repair. Now I tried to disassemble the whole phone but I got stuck at removing the housing. First I had problems with the Torx bits. I have some Torx bits in my sets but the lowest I got was T8. I had to buy a cellphone bits set with a lot of different types of bits. It had Torx all the way down to T4. The T5 and T6 was what I needed. There are 4 T5 to remove and one T6. I have inserted the sharp plastic between the housing and the top case and released all hooks but it seems the front and back part of the housing of the phone is dead stuck.
You have to open the whole damn phone from the back to get to the inside of the screen. Why the screen housing uses standard Philips is also beyond me. I have lots of bad experience with standard Philips screws. The heads always get bad after a while of screwing. I have yet to have a problem with Torx.

My Leo fell from 50cm to the ground (tiles), just on the edge. The sound it hit the ground already let me knew - bad suprise...
If you have already some experiences with broken screens: Is there a way to repair it? Is it be affordable?
The device itself seems to work as usual. Even in the upper right corner, the sensitivity seems fair. But I fear a breaking screen as already some glassy bits drissel out...

not sure if HD2 has different technology.
but the LCD screen is separate from the touchscreen part(thats what you broke)

I broke my glass on my screen and ordered a new digitizer, stripped it apart, broke the LCD in the process (a common occurrence as the glass/LCD glue is STRONG), ordered a new LCD, repaired and it works.. didn't quite go back together as it started (slight gap in case, buttons don't come through as much as they used to). Now have the problem of the 'bubble wrap' showing on the screen in a few places.
In short, yes it can be done but if you want it doing right get a professional to do it..

heat it up so the glue is soft and comes off easier, between the screen and digitizer.
if you have sun leave it in the sun to get it up to good temperature.

Ok, I'm a complete idiot and let my Nexus 7 fall and now I have a hairline crack. At first I thought it would be fine, since it is a very fine crack - almost unnoticeable, and the Nexus didn't even turn off. The screen looks fine but, alas, the touchscreen is not. I get no response at all. This does not appear to be the first time this has happened (a quick search on Ebay turns up several damaged Nexuses being sold for the exact same reason - A shame no-one is selling a damaged one which still had a working screen).
My question is (since I know you cannot simply replace the touchscreen elements, you have to replace the whole screen which is probably not worth the time and effort compared to buying a new one) is it possible that the touchscreen controls came loose or something such that it could be fixed, or is it tied into the screen so since I have an image it must mean that the digitizer is ruined. I hope something can be done, especially since something similar happened to my Galaxy Note a month ago and it has a shattered screen (way worse than the Nexus) but it's touchscreen still works just fine (maybe someone should keep me away from tech, this keeps happening...). Or do I have to accept my fate and lay my Nexus to rest.

Corning FIT Glass is a new product that is rather interesting. It's a much thinner section of glass with high scratch resistance and is pretty strong in respect to it's thickness/thinness. A product spec sheet shows it close to but not the same as Gorilla Glass and likely due to the thinness in comparison, but deffinetly superior to the standard Soda-Lime Glass formula used by many.
The key features of Fit is that the digitizer and glass are bonded together and is then bonded to the display for an complete "airless" display. I'm suprised Google doesn't make more of this as the Kindle Fire HD is making a big deal about their display tech. Pretty much the only difference is the display "cemented" to the back of the Corning Fit Glass/Digitizer product.
So when it all works, it provides a display result and responsiveness you didn't experience with the older technologies.
BUT.. When it does break, the digitizer being directly bonded to the glass is also broken. So you see the trade off for the new technology. No air gaps between the components prevents the possibility of a screen protector to "hold it together" and allow you to still use it even after the display is broken. So once broken, the display is useless. I believe the technology is sound, but the application used by ASUS in the manufacturing of their tablet may be exposing the edge of the display as that seems to be called out in the spec sheet. I'd push ASUS support hard on this as a manufacturing defect and try to get a replacement.

The battery seems cumbersome to replace. I hate heating things up and removing the glass in fear of cracking it. However, once past that, it looks pretty standard. I'm glad there's no more glue underneath that all.

But really, anyone who has taken apart phones before shouldn't find it too difficult to repair this device. But it looks like most everything is soldered to the motherboard. I only had mine for 5 days, dropped it, and cracked the glass.... a week later, dropped it again, and cracked it even more! I can't believe how slippery the G6 is. Anyhow, I ordered a good case the same day I got the phone, but it's stuck at friggen customs for over a month now... Soon as I get it, going to get er fixed. It's $210 locally rite now to get the glass replaced, or $150 for an insurance replacement. Regardless, going to stick with the messed up screen til I get the case, still works great.

Replacing just the screen I think it's cheaper but I didn't hear good things about this procedure (high possibility to crack the touch or the gluing of the touch and glass it's very hard to get like new). I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6. The other day, I happened to break the front glass. The LCD is still fine and the phone works, but the glass is all cracked and a little sharp. So after just a week of getting this lovely note 4 the phone fell from pocket about a feet or 2 on a ceramic floor and obtained a threadline crack horizontally across the screen. The digitizer is fine and the phone is totally usable,however i am tempted to change the upper glass covering. Iv done some research and couldn't find any detailed process to do that on youtube,though i read somewhere that it's risky to replace just the glass without digitizer. So has anyone gone through this process before? What are the risks? I am planning to buy d glass from aliexpress. ..thanks
So I'm in the same boat as you now...was hoping you were successful and any pointers/tips and what glass did you get? I've taken the glass off and replaced it on a Note 2 so somewhat familiar with the process.
Well i think i have to tell you some bad news guys. Samsung changed the way they produce displays. Back in the day S1-S4 N1-N3 screens came with a frame attatched on em (official parts that is) but now since the S5 and N4 its only the panel itself, touchscreen+Amoled panel glued together and it's like 3mm thick. So you can imagine how difficult it is to replace em seperatly.
I think it's for the best to leave it like this or if you have the money replace the screen completly.
I myself work in a phone/tablet repair shop so if ur from the Netherlands/Belguim you can stop by and it's fixed in ~30 minutes.
