Dear all, my note 3 n9005 16G lte is currently sitting in the Samsung's service centre in Taipei city, Taiwan . Recently ive found out that my note 3 is having problems with its GPS, it wouldnt get a lock on for a long period of time (10-15 minutes), sometimes it doesnt get a lock at all, and i have tried everything restoring using odin, unrooted, gps status but no luck. So today i decided to take a visit to the local Samsung Repair centre in Taipei. The staff lady told me it will take about an hour to check for its problems and get back to me after. So i waited an hour and found out that my phone is completed dead they have lost my IMEI number due to reformatting the phone (ive tested the phone and everything seems fine except it will not detect my sim card). They give me an option to repair for a price of about 250 us dollars for placing the mother board, unfortunately due to rooting the phone ive lost all my warranties. Any help or suggestion will be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance :crying:
My question is that are there any other ways to restore its IMEI by fixing it my self, kinda under budget right now. The phone was partial new just got it last November.
****Follow up UPDATES: Well guys the problem has been fixed(half fixed actually), lmao it turns out the guys at the samsung repair centre flashed the wrong firmware into my system have no idea how he did it, KOT49h n9005ztuenb5 this is the version he flashed into my system. After i got home from the repair centre along with my phone today i flashed the N9005ZTUENE2 via odin and voilà it all came back to normal 250 dollars saved!!!! however lost my 32 sgcard, GPS problem still exists and took them a week plus 4 pohone calls to them to get back to me. any ways i am very happy right now /cheers GO Brazil !!!!!GO Brazil GO Brazil!!!!

I had the same problem, baseband was unknown and INEI appears as null\null.
I have flashed a new factory rom and it solve my problem.
Try to download several factory roms and flash them, it migth help.
Another option is flashing this fix:

Good luck.

Hi there.
I follow this thread, but it is quite disappointing on the Samsung side.
I fully understand that you have rooted the device, and actually your warranty has been voided (legally).
BUT, from your story, unfortunately, it is not your mistake mate. Yes, you brought the device to be repaired regarding the GPS issue.
BUT again, not your mistakes to make it NULL IMEI. By right, the service center does the mistakes, they have to fix it without charges.
Anyway, glad to know you have fix back your IMEI by flashing the same firmware. congratulations

Hi all, I'm new to XDA so hopefully someone can help me. I purchased a brand new unlocked note 3 N9000W8 in canada from a cellphone store on Monday Morning. The phone was great and worked without a hitch and had android 4.3 on it.
Later on during the day, there were numerous news headlines regarding a 4.4.2 was officially released. So i decided to do the software update. With failed attempts with the message "Your device have been modified, Software updates are not available"
I checked my Settings > about device > status > device status and it states custom or modified. I am unsure how this is possible thinking it was a brand new phone. After some in depth reading i powered off the phone and check the android download mode (power, home button vol down key combo).
It states device status: custom, firmware: custom, knox 0x1 (which meant my warranty was gone essentially). I proceeded to call the shop i purchased the phone at, and the manager said they buy the phones from the distributor which unlocks them before it gets in their hands. so it must have been rooted prior to me receiving the phone.
Long story short...i know its been quite the reading already my appologies. I used samsung KIES to backup the phone and it updated it back to the stock firmware 4.4.2. I was prepared to loose the root as i dont need it. More concerned about the warranty. With the device and firmware status back to original i can now do OTA updates, however
Problem i have now is after the factory firmware upgrade to stock, my sim no longer works on the network. Seems as if the device has a sim lock, but it never asked for one. A local cellphone shop in st.catharines said there might be an issue with the baseband after the official update.
before the update, i tried all the suggestions such as unmounting the sd card, wiping cache, using supersu to unroot.
Can anyone chime in on what the problem may be? I go to school here, so if all else fails i will have to go back to toronto where i purchased it, and have them figure it out. just a hassle for me to get there without a car.
i just realized this was posted in the wrong section of the forum. sorry mods, can it be moved to Q/A?

When the distributor told you that the phone had been modified to enable an unlock, why did you say, "I was prepared to loose root as i dont need it"... the problem is fairly obvious, you had a software-unlocked phone and even though the seller told you that you would lose your unlock, you wiped it back to factory anyway lol...
honestly though, that's extremely sketch, lemme know that shop and I'll report them to BBB, you should never be paying for a cell phone that comes rooted unless your buying something from pacific mall, there are several options for you to unlock the phone, using software, hardware, or IMEI unlock codes

You had a pre-rooted software-unlocked phone (that was originally network-locked). Your warranty to Samsung is completely void, you should get something in writing (or record on audio) from the guy that sold you the phone as to the warranty of the phone.
Other than that - you can buy a network unlock code for something like 15 USD or so.
Hello,
Yesterday I got a brand new D802, I can't tell you what kernel it is or baseband because my device isn't working properly.
the problems began after I did an upgrade from D80210B to D80210D using the LG PC Suite.
after the upgrade was done, the touch screen got very erratic and I every place I've touched wasn't the right place (it acted like it wasn't calibrated)
I've tried to flash the stock ROM again using LG Flash Tool 2014 and using both Hong Kong 32GB D80210D_00.kdz and Hong Kong 32GB D80210B_00.kdz files but it didn't do any good.
I can't enter recovery mode, I get only the Factory reset screen (which I did twice and no good either).
one more thing I've noticed is that the device doesn't recognize any SIM card I out in it, at first it recognized my SIM (I have a giffgaff SIM) and after the upgrade the boot screen suddenly showed me the Vodafone logo.
I ever tried to put a Vodafone SIM in it, but the results were the same. If I'm not doing anything, the device boot itself into a loop, I can see the first screen of the initialization but that's it.
I've managed to get it to work one time but I couldn't even operate it on a basic level and the touch was erratic.
many thanks for any help that I would get.

Since the device is brand new as you implied, send it back for warranty. That would be the best thing to do, because chances are that even if you fix it after spending several hours on it, another issue might occur.
BTW factory reset screen is recovery mode. If you insist on keeping the device, let us know which kind of issues you are facing when trying to flash a .kdz.

Thanks for the reply, although it's brand new, it was bought on eBay so no can do about activating warranty and stuff.
Anyway, I tried a few more times fixing it, but gave up and put it in a lab.
I'll update next week, after it will return, what was the damage.
once again, thanks

I got the phone back from the lab and the technician told me that a screen digitizer is needed to be replaced.
Naturally, I told hime not to do that and I will send the phone back to HK to get a replacement phone.
Many thanks for everyone who tried to help me.

Hi,
I have been having a ongoing problem with my Galaxy Note 3 N9005 in where after the 5.0 upgrade (stock over air) it has been restarting pretty much 4-5 times during the day, and a number of times while even just sitting on the desk doing nothing.
Since I am still on contract with my supplier in NZ, I took the phone back to get repaired, in which Samsung sent it back to state "Software corruption, reloaded software".
I didn't believe them, but hoped it was correct - but sure enough the same thing happened. So I once again took it back, where they have once again told me the same thing. It is now the third time I have done this, with Samsung saying the same thing!
Now I am at wits end, and have asked for replacement, but I am being told "It is due to your google account being corrupt, and it is causing software corruption....." *sigh*
So now not only is Samsung just not helping, they are blaming my Google accounts for causing the issue. Which btw - I didn't setup the last time, and still it restarted - but they are ignoring that fact!
Anyway - the advice I want to get is has anyone else had the same issue with the Galaxy Note 3 after upgrading? I know there is no way to rollback 5.0 to old version, but did anyone fix the issue by Root and then adding another ROM (I don't want to root this phone, but to be honest I also can't afford right now to replace so I am looking at options)
Right now I am facing a ongoing battle with Samsung and my provider to replace the phone, but they are fighting it a lot and to be honest I have lost my patience so I am thinking to just drop them, root/flash new Rom, and then go to another provider - and probably never buy Samsung again when I can finally upgrade.
(used to love Samsung products but this behavior I have had is certainly making me think twice before I touch them again)
Since they refuse to accept warranty you can try to flash twrp. Then clear everthing(system/caches). Then back to stock with odin. There might be leftover of corrupted files that could cause reboot.
But later they have a better reason not to accept your phone, knox tripped.
And you can actually downgrade to 4.4.2. Just flash firmware of the same csc to be safe.

Do you have memory card installed? if so then scan you memory card for possible viruses.
Actually I have this issue too before.
Even if I left it lying on the table, it can restart by itself.
I tried to update to latest PB1 rom, the update failed, the phone restart while ODIN updating.
So I use Kies recovery and got it working again.
After that, i tried again update to PB1 rom using ODIN. and now no issues at all.
I dont know which one did the trick whether update to PB1 or KIES recovery.

Thanks - but no I don't - these are the first things I did when it started happening.
When it started happening I did factory reset, removing memory card, factory reset again, didn't restore backup from google... etc etc - so the general admin tech stuff.
Because under warranty (2 year contract) I didn't want to do anything more so sent to provider to get dealt with (into my 22 months of 24 months). For the last 4 months it has been to them a number of times for the same thing.
Now each time they send it back they claim "software corrupt" and that there is no hardware issue. So doing a software root and mod change for me is a hope - and probably not a good one - that the Stock 5.0 is the problem on this phone. And only going down this road because I am coming out of the warranty and right now I have a phone I can't really use, and damn Samsung won't support it or fix it (which is really all I want them to do!!) sigh

Thanks for this information, because in fact you are not the first time I have read this but I am not sure what the Kies recovery is - is there some instructions you have because maybe that is what should try, because I have seen other people on Google state this has helped them with restarting, but that was usually after Mod fix. Maybe there is something in the 5.0 update on GN3 that might cause this?

Thanks I didn't think from what I was reading that you could backwards - in fact Samsung have just down right refused, which is all I have asked them to do in the last two times - "Just flash back to the version that was on there last 4.4.2. because that didn't cause any issues!" However, they are stating very firmly that you can not rollback or re-flash back to a previous version.
Is there any instructions which are for the 9005? I have seen for the 900 but the instructions state very clearly you can't use them for 9005.

Just flash the firmware with odin. Factory reset in recovery after it's done. That's it. There are a lots of threads about going down such this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...o-downgrade-lollipop-to-kitkat-t2990262/page2
I suggest you read through before you go further. They are mixed results. Some successful. Some did not. That is why it is better to flash the same csc firmware.
I even able to downgrade my S6 from 6.01 to 5.1.1 without issue but of course it's different phone.

Bought a OTG from China, used one, left plugged into the phone as I slept...don't know if it's the cause of my troubles to start happening, or if the Twitter app I installed at the same time is the cause.
The phone became TROUBLE and I eventually decided to try going back to stock. I did manage to get stock on but couldn't use because the phone immediately would display the dreaded "Unfortunately.......", which pops up so often that you cannot do anything. So I decided to do a full wipe from factory recovery. Since then, the phone wont power on at all! I have left it to charge overnight, all day, NO POWER!!!! I have read many similar accounts. I lost as what to do! I had ZERO power issuses before. Saw a vid where a guy says the power switch is faulty. He ordered one from eBay and replaced it. 1) I don't think it's the case. 2) don't think I wanna try soldering, etc.
Any help would be appreciated!!!
I have the 910W8 from Rogers in Canada. ODIN flashed with no problems (used the latest firmware from sammobiles for my phone) but would get that error after the flash, causing it to be unuseable. I flashed a second time and same thing. That's when I decided to do a wipe from recovery. Now it won't boot up.
Wow! NOBODY?!

Cannot believe nobody has replied. I did get one of the usb things from a very nice member (i have to register myself as someone who now has one) but the phone is still not working.
Having done some confusing reading to try to fix mine but don't think i can.
Wondering if there's a good, reliable, store in the GTA (north end preferrably) that can do repair with JTAG? Wondering if there's any hope in recovering this phone. I get the impression that there's a good chance JTAG repair can bring it back to life.
Hi guys and gals
I am probably duplicating a thread for which I apologise in advance, but I have no clue for what key words I should be using to search for to find an existing answer, assuming there is one!?
I have the s8+ (SM-G955f) purchased in the UK via Vodafeon.
The battery died some weeks ago and I've had no money to be able to buy a replacement until now. I did try to use it now and again, but it last no more than a minute, but what did seem to happen is what is referred to as the boot loop saga.
I have followed other threads for instructions and downloaded Odin v.3.13 along with the varoius files (BL,AP,CP,CSC) from a zip file (G955FXXU9DTF1_G955FOVF9DTF1_VOD.zip) I was doing this late last night and do no remember which website I got it from, it took sooo long to download.
I am now at the point where I have connected the phone via USB and I have run the program and the status went to green, said 'pass' and the phone rebooted, however it is back to the Samsung welcome screen and sometimes keeps rebooting, other times, just stays there.
Where do I go from here? would it be that I have used the wrong firmware? I have never done this stuff before and have no clue, but am desperate to have a working phone as I have no money to replace it
Any advice, very welcome

I guess the issue was when the battery had issues, it would last maybe a minute or 2 before shutting down and then having to wait a full day before trying again. I did this for about a week as needed to get phone numbers from the phone along with some other info.
On the last occassion the phone turned on before the battery finally gave up, it seemed to go into the bootloop.
So now, I have tried various versions of Firmware via Frija and using Odin 3.13 to instal, but the phone doesn't seem to want to accept it.
The phone was originally purchase via Vodafone in the UK. I have tried VOD and BTU.
I am now in Asutralia, so have also tried TEL and VAU as have had sims from them also.. if that makes a difference?
I cannot get into the recovery mode at the moment, no clue why, just the download screen. The last time it went into recovery it kept mentioning about ATT which I don't understand as the phone has never had an AT&T connection which I think is in the USA and the phone has not been there..
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Would it be crazy to try and instal a custom OS and then revert back, or does the phone always remember the original firmware? I hope this all makes sense as this is all new to me..
Thanks in advance.
