I'm pretty sure I just bricked my **@#*& phone trying to Flash the Semaphore 1.6.0Bm kernel
It failed the first time around when I tried to flash it via Odin.
So I took the battery out like I usually do then went to put it back into download mode... To my surprise I cannot get into download or recovery mode anymore.
I've tried all button methods and none worked. I can't get past the screen that has the cell --- computer screen.. Looks like I may need a jig now...?
Any other ideas that I might be able to try?
Thanks.
What happens when you three finger boot and just keep holding it? Same screen you have now?

You mean holding the Vol up & down, Home and power button?
Same thing.
I've left the battery out for over 20 minutes, tried it while plugged into the computer, the adapter and not plugged in at all.. Still nothing.
This sucks..
if the phone doesn't do anything at all you can probably take it in to your service center and tell them it wont turn on but it didn't get wet or anything... ubless they have some magical way to get it into download then they'll replace it if you're under warranty.

Load up Ubuntu or something and load up heimdall command line. There should be an option to kick it out of the connect to PC screen.

Thanks for your responses.
I tried the OneClick.jar heimdall method but it seems to not recognize that the phone is even plugged in.
I did just purchase a USB jig off ebay, I'm guessing that this is my last option before having to bring it back to Telus for a replacement
have you heard of One-Click UnBrick?
I have seen that screen a few times. This worked for me every time to get it back into recovery...

I got this same problem when I installed CM7 on my T959d for the first time and Odin hung after clicking [Start]. Rebooted my phone and was greeted with a nice soft-brick screen. What a scare that was.
Here's what I did:
1. Take out the battery from the phone.
2. Plug the phone via USB to the PC (odin was open)
3. Hold down [VOL -] key
4. Hold down [POWER] key
I don't remember if the SGH-GTI9000 screen popped up, but if it does, wait for it to switch back to a black screen and then release just the [POWER] key, keeping [VOL -] pressed.
That put me back in Download Mode. Fired up ODIN again and the flash was successful this time around.
edit: Also, the Semaphore kernel i see in i9000 is for JVS roms. I'm not sure how that would affect darkys, since it's a JVR rom.
Hey guys,
So I got my G2 today and rooted it using the recommended root thread(IOroot10). It completed successfully and installed SU onto my device. It didn't actually ask for any permissions when i opened it and when I attempted to update the binaries it fails because I never get the toast about granting permission. So I factory reset and tried again. It didn't work the second time either. I thought maybe it's because I didn't take the latest OTA, so I factory reset one more time, took the OTA, and am now stuck in boot. I can't get to any recovery or download mode.
The phone boots the LG logo then gives me a boot loader secure check real fast that it fails. After that it goes to a black screen and there's nothing I can do.
When I plug the phone in and let it get to the black screen, it creates a ton of virtual USB drives (16 to be exact). The first one contains a write protected folder named image which contains the files modem.bxx, mlserver.bxx, mc_b2.bxx, adsp.bxx, cmnlib.bxx, dxhdcp2.bxx, isdbtm,.bxx,
mba.bxx, playread.bxx, tqs.bxx, wcnss.bxx, widevine.bxx, where the xx in .bxx is replaced with sequences of 00 up to 26 in some cases. The rest of the drives it creates are empty.
Any sign of a recovery is completely gone, and I have no idea where it went
This is what appears in the top left of the screen when the LG splash pops up for a split second and goes black

-Hold Vol Up + Down and plug phone in (doesn't work)
-Power on, press Vol Up at vibrate (doesn't work)
+The phone never makes it to a point where I can ADB into it. I get the splash screen(with error) and straight to the black screen.
+Completely drain the battery and plug it back in to charge up. I end up with the same issue.
+Fastboot will not recognize the device, so flashing the recovery that way isn't an option.
-Could be a driver issue, but I think the phone just never makes it to a point where I can use fastboot.

Perhaps I'm missing something in that thread, but none of it applies to me.
The link to the other thread for if you can't get into download mode only talks about having TWRP installed on the device, which I don't.
And the rest of it is if you have ADB access, which I don't as well.

To get into download mode the G2 needs to be connected to the computer and upon turning on immediately press volume up. Compared to other devices, it's a weird way to do and may take a couple of tries to successfully boot into.

I'm still having no luck. I've read nearly 4 different ways to enter download mode for the vzw version and none of them have worked yet.
Holding the power button itself just restarts the device and it heads right back into the black screen. If I continue to hold the power button after it restarts, I get the LG splash again and then it shuts off.
It seems like the stock recovery is completely gone, but I don't understand why I wouldn't be able to get into download mode because of that.

The device itself will not turn off without me holding the power+up button for around ten seconds. Holding the power button itself just restarts the device and it heads right back into the black screen.

Try keeping USB plugged into both computer and phone. Hold power button down, as soon as u feel the haptic feedback from the reboot hold down the vol+ button.

truckroot, that does indeed work, I actually messed with my build.prop file today and it soft bricked my phone. It would turn on you'd see the LG logo and a black screen, man I was livid. So later I was going to to have it replaced under warranty, I called Verizon and what not and he told me to press this button combo and I got straight into CWM, holy crap that was quite an easy fix for me. Here is the key combo under "Alternate Method"
http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/87344 Hope it helps in some way, if the other ways still won't work for you.

Hi everybody!
I'm having a weird problem with my S4 i9505 device, i left it charging on the sofa for about an hour while i went to pick up my son from nursery and when I came back the phone was unresponsive with the LED stuck on blue with a weird kind of glow about it :/ and very hot - front and back.
The lock/power button did nothing, and neither did the home button so I pulled the battery and left it out for 4/5 minutes before putting it back in. I tried turning the phone back on - nothing. the handset gave a short vibrate then six seconds later vibrated again. Nothing on screen, capacitive buttons or LED notification and while in this state does not get recognized by my computer (Win 7 64bit all drivers fine).
I cannot boot the device into download mode (volume down + home key and power).
I cannot boot into TWRP which was installed way before this crash (volume up + home key and power).
If i plug device into wall charger it goes back to the blank screen with blue LED, HOWEVER in this state my computer will recognise it in Odin!
What I've tried doing.
While in this "blue LED state" and it being recognized in Odin i've tried flashing official firmware, official firmware with PIT file, flashing CWM and TWRP.
Everything I do gives me the message that its failed via Odin
My device was previously running I9505_-_Official_Google_Edition_4.4_by_Jamal2367_v4.0 nice clean install done by the book (davlik wiped cache wiped, basically a new handset totally fresh and clean) if thats any help to anyone.
Been racking my brains for the last few days trying to fix it but no luck

Hi there,
When you say its failing in Odin whilst plugged into the charger I assume you are able to put the phone into download mode in order for odin to work correctly?
Have you checked that there is no issue with the battery itself i.e Is it Swollen - HERE

I don't know if it is in download mode - there's nothing to confirm on screen that it is but in Odin message box it says "<ID:0/003>Added!!"

Try pulling the battery again and wait atleast 4 to 5 minutes and put it back , then Hold Power+Volume down in order to reach download mode, if the screen is black while your in Download mode it seems that your phone might be needed to send to repair. but if you can actually see the green android with your screen then reflash the stock rom for your phone.

Odin will recognise the fact that a device has been plugged in even if its not in download mode.
Can you completely turn your phone off and leave it for a couple of minutes?
Leave unplugged from PC - Sort Odin out with firmware and let it check md5 etc
Then put in download mode - Volume down + Power (I know you cannot see screen) till you feel it vibrate and keep hold for about a second. Let go and then volume up............
Plug phone intoPC and let Odin see it again and start Odin:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Tried this and no luck. Odin will only recognize the device is plugged in if its in the "blue LED state"
If i power up normal, recovery mode or download mode the phone behaves the same way each time - short vibrate then 6 seconds later another short vibrate
I don't understand why Odin would pick it up ONLY when its in this state!? And even when the device shows as being connected it won't do anything at all

Sorry but, how do you get blue LED state? Just powering on the device? I get blue led state when finish charging or a notification enters...
Anyway, consider that odin will recognize the phone even if it is working and operative, not only in download mode, so the fact odin recognizes it doesn't mean you are in download mode. If you try to flash in a different mode than download mode, it will fail. So, you are not able to flash anything even if odin is recognizing the device; only if you are sure you are in download mode will.
Do you see in any moment anything in the screen? Every sympthom you are describing seem as screen doesn't work but all the rest of the device is working fine. Consider it is very difficult to enter in download mode with no control messages on the screen such as samsung logo, and so on... and then entering in download mode by pressing vol up.
Two possibles issues on my opinion:
1) any problem in the software doesn't allow you to see the screen. If so, try very carefully entering in download mode and flash a stock 4.3 (because I am not sure if you still have knox bootloader or not, if so, flashing a 4.2.2 will fail) with Odin 3.09 (be sure you have installed on your PC Kies 3 so that yoi are sure you have last drivers). To be sure you enter in download mode: take off your battery, and put it back; pwr+home+vol down (three buttons) during 3 or 4 seconds; then release fingers and push vol up, then connect the usb cable while odin is launched and see if odin see the phone (if so, flash; if don't, you are not in download mode or you are not able to enter in it, try some times if so).

If I power up the device without charging cable plugged in i get blank screen single vibrate about 5 seconds after holding power button and no LED.
If i insert usb cable into computer while device is OFF i get blank screen, single vibrate no LED and "my computer" device manager and Odin shows nothing connected
If i insert wall charger while device is OFF i get vibrate then after 6 seconds vibrate again then after 30 seconds or so the blue LED comes on. Now if i remove the phone from the wall charger in this state - still with the blue LED on it shows up in Device manager as Portable Devices - Samsung Mobile MTP device and shows up in Odin.
I haven't got the locked Knox bootloader, I was running 4.4 google play edition at the time of the crash with TWRP custom recovery
Ive tried using Odin 1.85 and Odin 3.04 and nothing works, I will try with 3.09 and report back but I'm not holding my breath.
On a side note I had a similar problem with the Galaxy note n7000 and I fixed that by rewriting the file partitions in CMD, could this work here do you think?
If the device can be found in device manager then I should be able to get into ADB right?
*UPDATE* I followed your instructions above and Odin 3.09 actually got me further than before
This time after checking the MD5 it flashed a stock rom 4.3. the device reset itself and made the tingly loadup noise but still with a blank screen. When I flashed the ROM I also flashed the PIT just in case (opinion on that?)
Now when I charge the device i get a red LED and not long after it turns green. Is that safe to assume that my battery is now fully charged?
Now I'm leaning more towards a hardware failure and my screen has gone I've never had a problem with the screen at all so I find this very strange that the screen could have died? Also I've taken the phone apart checked all ribbon connectors were in place and everything is fine, I didnt notice anything untoward with the screen (don't know what i was meant to be looking for mind! fire damage?! black soot?! blown out cables?! Not a clue?!)
But at least I'm running stock which should make trouble shooting a bit easier.

Blue led could be because you have the battery full charged.
Adb only if you have USB debugging mode checked.
Odin 3.09 was created for i9505 specifically, you must obligatory use this version to flash roms, otherwise you can get impredecible results.
As i said before, even Odin recognizes your phone, if you are not in download mode, it will fail, so it is critical to be sure you are in download mode, you must forget blue led state and so on and concentrate to be sure you are entering in download mode: unplug all charging and data cables, be sure you have the phone off (you can only be sure of this by taking off the battery and putting it back again), three keys combination for 3-4 seconds, volume up key, plug in the data cable and check on pc if Odin 3.09 recognizes it, if so, flash the stock official ROM you consider.

Exacly the same story with factory reset.
1. un plug device from wall or pc
2 make sure phone is all the way off (hold down power and volume down) untill it stops booting
3. hold volume UP while plugging device into pc
4. follow these instructions to return to stock http://www.droidgreen.com/lg-g2-official-stock-android-firmware-rom/
5. allow usb debuging in dev options and install unknown sources in security
6. to root your device go to towelroot.com download apk and install
7. to flash custom recovery use freegee its found in playstore
my phone havent got download mode. I flash KDZ on blue dots downlad mode. After this my phone has bricked. Only black screen. After this i have flash on ubuntu partitions and twrp. Ewerything was ok but after restart my phone dont go to TWRP. Only LG. Now i cant do anything. I havent got download mode and after VOL- and POWER my recovery dont do anything. On monday i will send my phone to service.
IT WORKS!
Well.. problem has been solved almost it self. As I said before I was trying do hold volume UP and plug it to the computer. But phone was showing only the LG logo and that's all. Linux didn't see it either.
When every idea was used I tried to completly discharge it. When it turn off i tried to plug it in and check what happens but AGAIN I saw only LG splash screen and I left it in that way. I came back after maybe 10-15min and I found phone in Download Mode. Linux saw it and without any problem I installed fresh ROM.
Really I can't explain this but it's just happend. So my advice, try any possible solution and method.
Good Luck guys!
Glad to here sound like your device wasn't fully powered off patience is pretty mine say on download mode doing nothing fir 10 minutes once [emoji106]

Thank you, Ick56, for the ray of hope you've given me. My G2 is fully discharged since yesterday and I'm on the same boat as you - no recovery, no download, no fastboot, not detected by the computer. I'm trying your way now. My question is - when you plugged it in fully discharged, did you hold any buttons?
Thanks again and thanks in advance!

Thank you for your answer, but I wasn't asking how to get to download mode. I was asking the OP what he did when his battery was fully discharged.

Thanks again. Here's what happens:
1. While unplugged, I entered the Factory Reset mode and left it as it is (didn't push any buttons) in order for the display to drain the battery;
2. When the battery was drained the phone went off;
3. After waiting for a few seconds I plugged it into the computer;
4. The red led was flashing for a minute or so and then the LG logo came on;
5. I'm now waiting.
Will post again when/if anything happens
EDIT: Almost an hour now and still only LG logo
i have the same.

Hey guys,
So I was on lunch break and left my phone on the cup holder and all of sudden I looked at my phone and it was in boot mode so I tried to reset it so I could use it, but I wasn't able to press any of the buttons to choose the options. Yet I was able to hold my power and volume button to turn it off but it would just come right back to the boot mode. After messing around with it a bit more I was able to get it into download mode by holding bixby, power, and the volume button, but the same thing still happened I wasn't able to select any of the options. I've tried putting my phone into safe mode when my phone died, but it would just send me straight to the boot mode. What I remember was that I had a system update at the time and I pretty much kept ignoring it and trying to find a way to bypass it so that I wouldn't be require to keep doing the system update. I was searching other threads to find my issue but it doesn't seem like no one's ran into this issue yet, or I just haven't come across it yet. I'm just trying to factory reset my phone at this point haha.
Thanks!
Did you try flashing using odin?

The problem is when I exit the odin apps or reset or pull out the cord and put it back in it wont detect the phone. so I need to off the mobile again and charge it til it powers on after 4 hours of charging. thats my problem, and that serial(com)ports problem pops up.

Did you mean that Odin don't recognize any com port?? Or that the PC don't recognize your device??
Remember u need the Samsung drivers installed so u can properly flash with odin.
Take a look at windows device manager, connect your phone and see what happened, in the USB check for Samsung USB composite device, or see if at least any new hardware is detected, and the window blinks a couple of times.

You should install Samsung USB drivers, just search on google Samsung USB Drivers. Then try to flash again. Hope you get that fixed.
