Verizon G2 Stuck in Bootloop. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
So I got my G2 today and rooted it using the recommended root thread(IOroot10). It completed successfully and installed SU onto my device. It didn't actually ask for any permissions when i opened it and when I attempted to update the binaries it fails because I never get the toast about granting permission. So I factory reset and tried again. It didn't work the second time either. I thought maybe it's because I didn't take the latest OTA, so I factory reset one more time, took the OTA, and am now stuck in boot. I can't get to any recovery or download mode.
The phone boots the LG logo then gives me a boot loader secure check real fast that it fails. After that it goes to a black screen and there's nothing I can do.
When I plug the phone in and let it get to the black screen, it creates a ton of virtual USB drives (16 to be exact). The first one contains a write protected folder named image which contains the files modem.bxx, mlserver.bxx, mc_b2.bxx, adsp.bxx, cmnlib.bxx, dxhdcp2.bxx, isdbtm,.bxx,
mba.bxx, playread.bxx, tqs.bxx, wcnss.bxx, widevine.bxx, where the xx in .bxx is replaced with sequences of 00 up to 26 in some cases. The rest of the drives it creates are empty.
Any sign of a recovery is completely gone, and I have no idea where it went
This is what appears in the top left of the screen when the LG splash pops up for a split second and goes black

Things I've tried:
+Completely power off:
-Hold Vol Up and plug phone in (doesn't work)
-Factory Hard Reset (doesn't work)
-Hold Vol Up + Down and plug phone in (doesn't work)
-Power on, press Vol Up at vibrate (doesn't work)
+The phone never makes it to a point where I can ADB into it. I get the splash screen(with error) and straight to the black screen.
+Completely drain the battery and plug it back in to charge up. I end up with the same issue.
+Fastboot will not recognize the device, so flashing the recovery that way isn't an option.
-Could be a driver issue, but I think the phone just never makes it to a point where I can use fastboot.

Perhaps I'm missing something in that thread, but none of it applies to me.
The link to the other thread for if you can't get into download mode only talks about having TWRP installed on the device, which I don't.
And the rest of it is if you have ADB access, which I don't as well.

To get into download mode the G2 needs to be connected to the computer and upon turning on immediately press volume up. Compared to other devices, it's a weird way to do and may take a couple of tries to successfully boot into.

I'm still having no luck. I've read nearly 4 different ways to enter download mode for the vzw version and none of them have worked yet.
Holding the power button itself just restarts the device and it heads right back into the black screen. If I continue to hold the power button after it restarts, I get the LG splash again and then it shuts off.
It seems like the stock recovery is completely gone, but I don't understand why I wouldn't be able to get into download mode because of that.

The device itself will not turn off without me holding the power+up button for around ten seconds. Holding the power button itself just restarts the device and it heads right back into the black screen.

If you're phone is responding then there's still hope. Did you try this method to boot into download?
Power off your G2, press Volume Up & Down key and then plug in the usb cable (enter to a download mode)

I have tried every button combination there is and still no luck It's really frustrating.

Try keeping USB plugged into both computer and phone. Hold power button down, as soon as u feel the haptic feedback from the reboot hold down the vol+ button.

truckroot, that does indeed work, I actually messed with my build.prop file today and it soft bricked my phone. It would turn on you'd see the LG logo and a black screen, man I was livid. So later I was going to to have it replaced under warranty, I called Verizon and what not and he told me to press this button combo and I got straight into CWM, holy crap that was quite an easy fix for me. Here is the key combo under "Alternate Method"
http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/87344 Hope it helps in some way, if the other ways still won't work for you.

Yeah, I tried modifying an apk and got caught in a bootloop prior to button combo on recovery being available, so I thought I was screwed. Finally managed to get into download mode as I described and all was well.

Like I had said earlier, I've tried pretty much all possible combinations of button presses/cable ins and outs.
I'm pretty sure I'm screwed and will have to RMA it.

I've tried installing a drivers to what shows up in the device manager when I plug the phone in, but Fastboot still won't recognize the device. And as i've said before, ADB won't recognize it either.
Any possible suggestions?

Also it won't come up on my computer when I plug it in with usb. I tried both my computers and they both had the drivers but the phone won't even connect to either pc. I could connect easily the day before though.

I also got this while pushing Power and both Volume buttons at same time.

Hold power down for 15+ seconds. Then hold volume up and plug in USB. This should get you into download mode to kdz. May take a few attempts.

I see your using Utorrent you pirate! JK
It looks as if your phone has some life left, not really too familiar with D800. Have You tried the key combo to get into TWRP? Does the D800 have download mode?
Also did you by chance flash the wrong rom (different carrier)? Did you wipe the internal storage?
It looks like the incorrect ROM was flashed, it did not like your boot.img. You should be fine. Hold down the power button for +-15s as he said. During that time the screen should turn off, back on to the LG screen, then back off again. The phone should stay powered off. Then, hold the vol- & pwr buttons, releasing them when you see the LG screen. While still on the LG screen, press and hold the power button until you arrive at the LG factory reset menu. Press the power button to confirm a factory reset, which will actually boot you into TWRP so you can restore your backup.

I have the lg g2 d800 as well and I also had a similiar issue. I wiped to clean for new rom and accidently before installing cm-10.2 I hit the reboot button. I just want to say thank you guys for all the knowledge base. Reading this thread fixed mine too.
I had similar issue couple weeks ago bad flash,no backups and unable to mount sd from custom recovery, the only way for me to fix this was to install rom via sideload, which was pain for two days.

Need help - possibly bricked?

Hey guys,
So my Verizon G2 was on the stock rom with root. I wanted to install TWRP on it and flash a rom but couldn't get to that due to the fact that I couldn't get TWRP running after I tried flashing it with Flashify(I did this after having the first OTA). Another OTA came up today and I legit accidentally hit install now. I'm currently stuck at fastboot and I can't even get into download mode or anything. Hard factory reset doesn't work either, I just get :
[2950] Fastboot mode started
[2970] udc_start()
and nothing happens. I really hope I didn't brick my phone.. Please help!
Thank you!
I was given a G2 that was bricked, all it would do is sit on the LG screen forever. I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960 and put the factory firmware on the phone. I never took any of the OTA's cause the phone wouldn't even boot up, but I would think its close to the same situation. The guide posted above worked for me

Damnit-- I am in the same boat. Vol down or up when plugging in does nothing-- just a glowing black screen after the LG logo. Device manager is only seeing it as a qhusb_bulk device even though the lg drivers are installed. None of the tools recognize it at this point. Almost ready to give up and call it bricked.
Did you make sure the phone is completely off? If you hold power and volume down buttons, it will shut off. Once its completely off you hold the volume down and continue to hold it while your plugging in the USB. I believe the drivers have to be installed as well.

Listen, to power off the device press and hold the power button, it may take up to 10-15 sec but it will power down.
Go to this thread and follow the instructions.

If you follow them exactly as stated, it will flash you to 100% out of the box stock, you WILL lose root and SD storage FYI.
I did this last night and it does work, just don't move to the next step until you are 100% sure you've completed the last.

I was able to finally get TWRP onto my phone last night, so I'm no longer stuck at fastboot. However, I'm not just stuck at recovery. Even after flashing a custom rom, I keep getting sent back to recovery. I did notice however, if I go to backup, the data partition is at 0mb, despite formatting data and cache already. I tried the dd commands in the link above with adb, and I get nothing(file doesn't exist). I'm at a loss. What can I do now?

Big ups to thecubed, but I found I needed a few more steps. When you get not enough memory message, hit arrow button back to TWRP home screen. Then reboot, shut off again, then go into download mode. Lg Flashtool may work for you, but it didnt for me as it couldnt validate cdc serial. I downloaded LG update recovery tool from LG, and i have a phone agqin. But you are now going to be updated to VS98012B, and you will not be able to root again. Hope this helped....

Thanks for the help, but do I type that into the command prompt on my computer? Do I go into the terminal command option in TWRP? Totally confused on how to do it...
I know it took me all night...im kinda noobie...
Ok bear with me...use the second option from thecubes link, when in TWRP, go into terminal command, it will open a bunch of file options...ignore those and hit select on bottom right. That will start the command which will give you two sets of 6 figure numbers beginning with 6 and an out of memory error. Again ignore....hit back arrow till back to main screen and try what i said before. Again I am kinda a noob, so if my directions are confusing be patient and i will try to help.

turn your phone completely off: unplug it from the usb and hold down the power button for like 20sec. the phone should not be turning on or doing anything. then press and hold the power plus volume down. as soon as the lg logo pops up, let go of those 2 buttons and immediately press and hold power + volume down again. this should being up an all white screen with black letters. now press the power button 3 times til you get to "factory resetting". this should boot you into twrp. from there you can do whatever you want. this time do not take the OTA. hehe.
the drivers for your phone will be on lg's g2 site. make sure you've installed those with your phone unplugged from usb. if you have a previous driver installation, uninstall that. the lg drivers have the adb driver inside of it. also make sure you are using the most up to date adb.exe. if not then it may not be able to communicate with your phone. you can get that from android's sdk.

The fact that you see anything, is a good thing. Let battery completely die, and then plug into USB while booting to download mode. I had VERY similar issue and that's worked for me, then flashed to stock.

With your phone on, and in recovery (twrp), plug it into your computer.
Open device manager.
Look for a disabled/uninstalled (marked with yellow) device that corresponds to tour device (in my case all it said was D800).
Choose properties/driver/update driver.
From here, you have to choose all the manual options ("let me choose the driver to install"), not automatic, .
Finally Windows should show you a list of device drivers compatible with your device.
choose the LGE (or androidnet) Single Sooner ADB ...
Let it install
Test your ADB interface (ADB Devices).

Sounds identical to the problem I had. It's like a REAL slow bootloop. If you catch it just right, can you get it to factory reset? And then from there, it just does the same thing?
Ooops.
I saw bootloop twrp.
I missed the black screen.
What do you get when you hold the power button for longer than 15 seconds (force shutdown), then power it back on (hold power for a few seconds, then release)?
If you have a fully non-booting device, warranty it, of course blame it on the update.

turn the phone completely off. unplug it from the usb/charger. while the phone is off, hold down volume up then plug in the usb/charger. you should automatically see download mode pop up. if that happens then you can return back to stock by googling howto's. if not then you will have to take it in.
no devices when you plug it into computer in that state?
Hopefully none of that text at the top of the screen mentions root or modified system.

boot loops at recovery???

So I have done some searching but nothing I've tried help or not the same issue.
I was trying to root everything seemed to go fine. Phone reboots and now all it does is goes to a screen with blue letter at the top left that says recovery and then reboots. I've tried to power button home button volume key combo same thing happens. Phone keeps looping, so I pull the battery. As soon as I put it back in it starts looping again, even without me trying to turn it on.
Am I screwed? I have tried adb but it cant find the device, I assume because it keeps rebooting. Does Samsung have something like the HTC RUU or would that not matter because of the boot loop?
Any help would be great!
Thanks

If you cannot get into download or recovery mode by using the
Home+VolumeDown+PowerButton or Home+VolumeUP+PowerButton
then you will need to purchase a "USB JIG" from an online store or from
eBay, it's very inexpensive $5.00 or less shipped.
You plug it into the USB port of the phone after the phone is fully
powered down. After doing that it takes less than 3 seconds for
the phone to go into "download mode" automatically.
Once its in download mode and you unplug the jig you can Odin
flash the official stock firmware/rom and have a fresh start.
I have been using a JIG for years on many models of Samsung Android
phones and it works GREAT! It even worked perfectly on a friends HTC.
Good luck!

LG G2 Boot security error after trying to flash SuperSu after going to LineageOS 14.1

I've been using Cyanogenmod 13.1 (rooted) and I decided to flash a ROM with Nougat. I flashed lineage-14.1-20170320-nightly-d802-signed and open_gapps-arm-7.1-mini-20170325 and everything worked fine except I didn't have SuperSU. I tried flashing SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815 and when I tried to boot into system I got this screen (with the LG logo below) http://i.imgur.com/O7vOtab.png I tried many methods like this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142 and this https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404 to no avail. In Linux when I used the ls /dev/sd* command in the terminal the phone wouldn't show up and later in Windows I got the PC to recognize the phone as Marshall USB Composite Device 9006 http://i.imgur.com/a5WHV9P.png and in Disk Management the phone partition shows up un-initialised http://i.imgur.com/XaVKIu7.png . Help I don't know what to do now. Tell me if I should provide more information.
I had the exact same problem. Then i found a solution. Just dont flash the normal Supersu, you need to flash the Supersu BUMPED file. Just go in recovery, press 10 sec the power button to be sure the phone is off, then hold volume down and power button until the logo appears, then release and press again (fast) then choose yes, yes. Just flash the Bumped and if recovery asks to do root choose NO.
The Bumped which worked for me

Yeah Bad same Problem, turned off and it went on, then again bootloop. But if you press the power button long enough then its completely off. In cyanogen mod i had Problem that i couldnt get into recovery with power button+volume down.
So you should flash kdz, get oneclickroot for LG g2, then autorec lollipop to get recovery. Then flash Rom + gapps + The bumped file.
If you dont know how to flash kdz, you can ask here. I will help
Good luck

Previously I couldn't go into download mode but I will try now since I managed to turn off the smartphone completely. Before it would just stay on with a black screen.

Yeah Ok. When I wanted to turn It off, I just pressed the power button until the screen went black and the logo came again but after 2-3 sec the screen went black again, then it was off (just hold power button for 10sec)
Try that when your phone keeps restarting

KDZ flashing gets stuck at 60% (Verifying phone connection) http://i.imgur.com/AAHKqcd.png
Should I just let it sit through its emotional problems?

Get the lg mobile support tool, install it. Then open and connect your phone via download mode, it will find the phone and download the kdz for it. That should work.
If it doesn't install automatically, click on additional options then click on set upgrade error back, or something like that.
Before all that install the driver from
http://www.lg.com/de/support/service-mobil-telefon/lg-G2
Then you can start with lg mobile support tool
