hello i was wondering if there is a way to unlock the sim on the xt907 after the kitkat update? i used the exploit to sim unlock this phone before so it could be used on straight talk. my brother updated it to kitkat and now the sim is locked again. is there anyway to redo the process or downgrade back down to jellybean so i can use the exploit again? any help would be awesome.
The procedure is the same you used before. It worked for me.

Are you sending the code "000000" (6 zeros)? I actually just unlocked mine successfully. I didn't use any of the downloads that he gave. I used the demo of CDMA Workshop (currently v3.9.0) and the drivers package from motorola's website. Try using those. It appeared to work for me.

Hmmm. That is interesting. The only thing that i can think of is your QC diagnostic driver may be corrupted somehow? Did you follow the video tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm2NKdXdHnc) to install it? Also can you post a screenshot with your device manager open while your phone is connected in bp tools mode. In you device manager expand the "Other Devices" tab.

Under installed programs, look for a name that begins with Motorola. Good Luck. If it isn't under installed programs, then I don't think they are installed. If so, go grab the official drivers from here: http://www.mymotocast.com/download/MDM?platform=windows

No problem, glad I was able to help. Have a good rest of your day. Hopefully everything works out.
thanks, much and you have a good one as well.
just to recap for anyone else having this issue here goes what was wrong.
the issue: droid razr m xt907 on straight talk updated to 4.4 and service was lost
first thing make sure all your drivers are installed. in you have the phone plugged in and you dont see QC Interface then uninstall all and reference the links listed above in the other replies (or i may have them listed if i edit)
now make sure your usb cable is working, the one for this phone would not work properly for this so the blu studio 5.3s cable worked great. make sure you have cdma workshop and the spn code is "000000" aka six zeros.
follow all the steps in the tutorial and you should be up and running. this phone does work on straight talk if you follow the tutorial.

Yeah, I think the problem is that it knows that its ATT but it doesn't know what to do with the connection. You probably have to set a manual APN setting. Go to Settings-->Wireless&Networks-->More-->Mobile Networks-->Access Point Names-->Add Button(Upper Right Corner)
Use the following values:
NAME: (type anything you like, this doesn't matter. Use "AT&T Phone" or "My Phone", something like that. Just remember that every access point you create should have a different name.)
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: (not set)
Port: (not set)
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: (not set)
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: (not set)
APN type: (not set)
APN protocol: IPv4
APN: enabled (may need to check this, not sure about your model)
Bearer: unspecified
*DOUBLE CHECK SPELLING*
These values may not work. They were just the first ones i saw. If they don't work, then i will look for a new set of values.
If they dont work, also try the same settings with the username and password blank
When its added make sure you click on it in the access point names list.
Also go back from the access names list and make sure your "Prefferred Network Type" is set to Global.
Hopefully this works for you.
Does GSM mode with APN settings still work in 4.4.2
I have a Verizon RAZR M running on stock 4.1.2 + root + Xposed. I am using a GSM sim on my phone and I'm getting HSPA+ data (so I guess my phone is "unlocked" as I can use another carrier).
My question is does the 4.4.2 ROM support GSM mode and can we add/edit apn in the 4.4.2 rom?
You can edit/add APNs on 4.4.2 and I'm pretty sure you can use GSM on a 4.4.2 ROM.
Sent from my DROID RAZR M using XDA Free mobile app
Razr M Kitkat Straight Talk AT&T sims
I updated to KitKat 4.4.2. and my service stopped. I used Radiocomm to set the NV to 00. I failed at least three times. You have to enable developer options, usb debugging and boot up in Factory mode. Follow the instruction that have been poster on this form = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542 After I changed the NV I always pressed the restart button. After the phone has rebooted, unplug it and turn it off. Close Radiocomm and open Radiocomm up again. Boot phone back up in Factory mode and connect back usb to Radiocomm. Read the NV again. If it still 00, it has worked. Radiocomm, like people have said, will not see your phone unless usb debugging and Factory mode have not been set. My only complaint is that JB worked prefect and KK has the "Modem Fast Dormancy Monitor Service" screw up. Me and my wifes phone both are effected by this. Our JB battery life was real good. Now we both have reboots 2 or 3 times a day. My battery was dead one morning. I have found no help for this. Good luck with your phone. My Straight Talk AT&T service is really good. Fast Dormancy errors will make me buy some another phone unless Motorola issues a fix. I'm not going to hold my breathe!

Hi there,
I am pretty new with this stuff, as I just got this phone today. It came with Froyo2.2 so I unrooted it back to the original JFK.
It did not come with a sim card, so I do not have a sim inside the phone as of now. But I do have a bell sim that I will use after to put the unlock key in... Is that okay?
I Connected the vibrant through Mini Kies and the MTP application says its connected.
I just re rooted from J16 back to the original.
I have the 64 bit drivers installed.
When I try to run Generate Unlock Windows Script I get the following error message saying...
Copy nv_data.bin
*daemon not running. Starting it now *
*daemon started succesfully *
error: device not found
error unable to find file <.\nv_data.bin>
could not find C:\documents and settings\1\desktop\key\generateunlockwindows\nv_data.bin
Anyone know what this means?
Or know what to do in this situation?
I am not sure if I should try installing the 32bit drivers or what.
how did you downgrade the phone from android 2.2?
I just bought the phone through ebay with the OS already at 2.2, and the phone is locked to t-mobile. I've heard it is not possible to unlock it with the 2.2 update. Is that true?

Yup, having exact same problem. If you find a fix let me know.
Make sure your usb setting is on debug and you have all of the files for the unlock on your pc. You also need java installed.
That method worked for me from stock.

Fixing so-called "Bricks"/Odin Errors
This guide is open to contribution/editing/correcting
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BOOT CYCLE
This is where you get the annoying Samsung Screen/Galaxy S screen.
DOWNLOAD REQUIRED (CREDITS TO JUSTANOTHERCROWD):
1. Get into Download Mode (WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED IN) by following the steps below
*Turn off the phone until you get to the charging battery screen (keep in mind, your phone is currently PLUGGED IN)
*Press volume up and down, and power all at once.
*As soon as the screen turns black, release your power button.
2. Unplug phone from USB
3. Open Odin (in Administrator if you're running W7 or Vista), try one of the ones I attached to this post, at least one of them is bound to work, some don't work for me, but works for others, some doesn't work for others, but works for me, whatever floats your boat
4. Load in the files into Odin that you have downloaded from above Just load in the files corresponding to the text field.
DO NOT CHECK REPARTITION.
5. Plug in your phone with the DL mode
6. Click start and wait for the magic
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NO-BOOT PHONES
This is where your phone does NOT turn on, no combo of buttons works and power button does nothing.
DO THIS ONLY WHEN YOU PLUG IN YOUR PHONE AND NOTHING SHOWS UP ON THE SCREEN!!! If else, follow the steps from above.
This method is basically same as above, EXCEPT the way you get into Download Mode as your phone is HARD BROKEN.
1. Download all the files required in the "BOOT CYCLE" section of this post.
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
8. Follow steps 4-8 from the "BOOT CYCLE" section.
Troubleshooting:
-Odin stuck at some random process?
*Switch to another odin
*Make sure you did NOT check repartition, if you did, just repeat all the steps over again, except for the downloading parts, obviously.
-Phone not responsive?
*Try "NO-BOOT PHONES"section of this guide
-Phone stuck at Galaxy S logo screen?
*Put it in to DL mode, and run Odin again, it's just a bad install.
-All three ODIN is nonfunctional, stuck or giving "FAILED" errors?
*DO NOT CLOSE ODIN ONCE IT HAS FAILED!
*Unplug your phone
*Replug in your phone, get it into DL mode
* Unplug once it is in DL mode
*Replug and ODIN should recognize your phone
*Leave all the settings the same, then click "Start" again.
-Cannot get into download mode using the method I listed? Use the method(s) below:
Soldering Method
More methods coming soon
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know how much of a pain posting in the Q/A section can be and the wait time is pretty bad, so if you need help regarding UNBRICKING and ONLY UNBRICKING feel free to post in here.[/S

This Post contains the files for 2.1- i896UXJI2 AND 2.2 - i896UXJL1 AND 2.3.3 - i896UXKH2 version of this fixed stock ROM.
SGH -i896 wiki - VERY USEFUL INFO if you haven't seen already.
ALL original "stock" flashes for rogers are missing:
dbdata.rls - if you used pit, you screwed yourself.
i896 -boot-screen replacement. - if you flashed ATT stock, you got stuck with "world phone" boot-screen.
we have a COMPLETE Odin flash-able 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3.3 Rogers stock ROMS that will:
have NO dbdata / mounting error on reboot when using pit/re-partition in Odin
REMOVES ATT boot logo !!!!! yeah the first one! AND NOT WITH THE RENAME PICTURE TRICK
FULLY WARRANTY PASSABLE (root locked, but will not undo SIM lock but you will have backup files for that.)
1 minor issue - some users claimed to not have APN settings after flashing. Apn settings let you connect to the internet and send MMS messages on your phone. if you need them.... APN Settings HERE
the 2.1 is named Toronto because that's where nzahorchak is from, and not to cause confusion because the zip file is 145mb and had the same original name and size of THE STOCK ROM that screwed so many of us! all the files in the .tar are different.
Click to collapse
========================================
INSTRUCTIONS - for those who might need them.
Download and install " APN Backup and Restore " from market and backup APN settings.
Unzip files to one location
Boot phone into download mode. (Powered OFF, hold VOL UP & DN, plug in USB)
Open Odin3 1.xx flashing utility (NOT ODIN3 ONE CLICK RESTORE TO STOCK)
Use the ROM.tar file from the stock ROM .zip in PDA box of ODIN
**Use the 512 .pit file that came with odin3 and check re-partition and check auto-reboot. PIT FILE IS A MUST IF YOU HAVE FLASHED ANY CM7 ROM!!!!! If NOT , pit should NOT be needed.
Click start.
Download " APN Backup and Restore " and Restore APN settings.
or... APN Settings HERE
3 NOTES !!
IF the phone gets stuck at the Rogers boot logo and does not fully boot, re-boot into stock recovery, select "erase user data" + "erase cache data", re-boot. BE PATIENT before you assume this has happened to you!!15 minutes at least. First kernel or ROM boot ALWAYS takes a while! I personally have never had to do this!
Some people claim you must plug in the USB after starting Odin, i had no issues both ways. If the box turns YELLOW, and your files are selected, you are good to go. USB Cable must be plugged into Computer though (yes i was asked)
I generally flash with my sim and SD card removed, it is not necessary but the SD card did cause me to hang in one situation before, so i just always remove it to be safe.

pit file is included in Odin packages attached below
Any of the odin3s below will work. 1.81 and up now has bootloader option though we dont use that option yet, but it is more stable. Newer is Better!
2.3.3 STOCK! from rogers no changes. DO NOT USE .PIT FILE WITH THIS STOCK! if you need to repartition use 2.2 with pit file then upgrade to 2.3.3 with NO PIT FILE!!!
ALSO, IT CONTAINS BOOTLOADERS!! necessary to upgrade to gingerbread!
this is THE FILE keis used.
The rom below will NOT fix an ATT bootscreen issue, rogers did not change their params.lfs partition so it is not in the rogers keis update. To FIX ATT Bootscreen flash THIS FILE in odin PDA box before or after 2.3.3 stock.

NOTE: These packages do not set pit file, or re-partition (same thing), as setting pit was casuing LOTS of failed flashes, and if it fails as it sets pit, you loose the download picture, and it APPEARS bricked but odin will still see the phone (and turn yellow) if you put it in download mode, even with a blank phone screen.
Instructions:
#1 preform factory reset! MUST DO! - if you are unable to do this FIRST, do it immediately after flashing! you will get bootloops without wiping data!
-boot into recovery and select factory reset or clear user data
-or select factory reset from within android operating system settings
#2 Run ODIN one click (version of choice) - odin must be opened before plugging in phone
#3 Boot into download Mode
- with phone OFF, hold both volume buttons, plug USB into phone from pc
#4 Click START
#5 Wait! it should take about 5 minutes, then it will reboot itself!
If the process hangs, and IT DOES (usually at the start) close odin, take battery out of phone, put back in and restart odin, reboot phone into dl mode, try again. HOPE TO GOD it doesnt hang on boot.bin or sbl.bin on the one package containing Bootloaders. Bootloaders are required to upgrade a phone to gingerbread, but they work with older versions and there is no way to tell, so there is no reason to downgrade ever, and it is unnecessary to ever flash them again, maybe until ICS (lol)
with the old packages some users claimed to not have APN settings after flashing. Apn settings let you connect to the internet and send MMS messages on your phone. if you need them....

Glad you are on here. Thank you for addressing an otherwise overlooked problem that really bothered a lot of Canadian captivate users. I've done many google/xda searches for removal tools but they all seemed super sketchy.
Your time and hard work is appreciated, I'm sure not only by me, but by every canadian captivate user that's had to flash back to "stock".

Hey! Thanks for posting this! I've been trying to figure it out for the longest time and just gave up.
I was wondering if the APN settings can be manually inputted after flashing back to stock without using APN Backup and Restore? Or are there issues/crashes when attempting to input with APN B&R?
Thanks again!

You can input the APN settings manually without any issues. I haven't tried APN B&R. These are the ones I use (for Rogers) and I've included Fido's for Fido users' convenience.

I used APN backup and restore. and had no issues, and i see no reason why manually entering would cause issue either. Titanium Backup can also backup and restore your APN settings.
FULLY WARRANTY PASSABLE (root locked, but will not undo SIM lock but you will have backup files for that.)

I have a I896 now on FF 2.4 used a ODIN that gave me the AT&T boot screen etc. I am unlocked rooted etc can you elaborate on your point above in the quote? I have used tibu on every back up the apps only. So if I use this ODIN will I loose my sim unlock? Not totally sure what you mean. Or where and what files to make sure it stays unlocked?
Thanks and great work, we do need this for the "just in case"!
read the quote again.... "but will NOT undo sim unlock" most unlock methods (for canadian captivates) swap out a file and back up your original if you want to Lock it again. I used "Galaxy S unlock" from the market. root method.
**Canadian captivates dont have the unlock code stored in them, thats why root is required for us so it can do the file swap method. By law in Canada your carrier must give you the unlock code if you request it but they can charge you, this is to prevent them from FORCING you to pay roaming charges when travelling abroad.
so, it stays unlocked for the sim but root gets locked again.
Okay I think I understand. I paid and got a sim unlock code, so I think I will be okay. I will check when I get home with my American sim card since I have rooted and romed since the unlock.
Hi there
Recently I encountered some issues with my Note 3. google playstore did not allow me to sign in and no notifications appeared on my screen (the phone has root, and TWRP). I decided to try out CM11, downloaded it from the original site along with gapps on my internal sd. i wiped data cache .. the usual and installed the two files except they did not do anything. I download the custom recovery 1.3gb file using odin. booted up and noticed that my service is not working. i called my service provider to see if the problem was on their end but wasnt. i factory reset the phone via settings... same problem. i went into recovery wiped data and cache booted up and same issue.
IMEI= has not been blacklisted
I occasionally do see bars appear however no change in service status
I tried flashing TWRP again and installing CM11 except i get a "failed" message "unable to mount"
I sure hope I did not kill this phone
any idea how do i get service back on my phone? everything else on the phone works besides service provider....
Thank you very much!!
Not sure if this means anything ...
When you had it working with a Touchwiz Rom it could have been your APN settings that were not allowing you to get signal.
If I were you I would start fresh and download the factory image from sammobile and flash it again using Odin. We can start troubleshooting from there.
Did you use this tutorial to get a custom recovery installed? Its really straightforward and I recommend this method over all others.

1. Check for Reactivation Lock
2. Check that you are NOT downgrading your bootloader.
EDIT: You are downgrading your bootloader, or else you wouldn't get the aboot fused 2 > binary 2 error.
You will have to flash stock, go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=26660
Flash that in AP of Odin. Then you will be reverted back to stock.

You might have to set up your APN settings after you have done that. You can google the APN settings for your carrier and then put them in manually by going Settings > Connections > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
You'll be able to add them in there.

I gave that a try, rebooted the phone, attempted a call and "Not registered on network"
would changing the ROM have any impact on the service for whatever reason? i gave CM11 a try but wouldn't instal.
Seeing all that you've tried, the one thing i don't see tried is the sim card. Have you tried your sim in another phone, or another known good sim in yours? The fact it gets signal but doesn't register with the network makes me think the sim had somehow gotten corrupted.

Hello,
I am in South Africa and I can not get data to work. I have validated all settings:
Data Roaming is on.
Cellular Data is on
Preferred Network Type is Global (I have also changed to LTE / GSM / UMTS with no success)
I have removed SIM card / placed back in.
I have reset all network settings
I have placed into Safe Mode
I have called Verizon Global Support and they have validated all settings.
All without success
Android Version - 6.0
Security Patch level - November 1, 2015
Is there anything I am missing? This is frustrating.

Sorry, I did not previously perform the step you out-lined. I thought you were referring to restarting the band.
I just did as you instructed and now the phone is not connecting to the South African networks(previously phone and SMS worked.
Now in the Cellular Network Settings, there is a new option 'System Select' which is selected to 'Automatic' with the other option 'Home only.'
Ideas?

Change your band to Band 6. turn off your phone and restart.
As for System select, it should be set to Change CDMA roaming Mode. Preferred network type, set it to Global.
For APN, if nothing is selected then select the one that says, Roaming Internet.

OK, if none of those are working. Then your best bet is to reflash a radio. You will have to unlock your bootloader, Go to fastboot mode and use the flash all script, to reflash a factory image to your device.
There is a thread in the General help section, that can guide you thru the process. Remember unlocking bootloader will wipe your phone clean.

I don't konw!
Maybe with the DFS tool, but doubt there is much info or a guide for that particular model, if it is possible. It's not a common thing and typically the kind of people who figure that kind of thing out are going to be working on more popular models.
I bought one recently and although I'm not sure if it will work with global gsm networks.... I was able to make it recognize a USA t-mobile sim card. By simply adding the correct APN settings.
Trying to save my Galaxy J320VPP Verizon
Hi, yesterday I tried to install a Patch to enable GSM in a CDMA Global phone like appears in the next link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689 but I couldn't install it because I don´t have the option in the boot menu to install it without signature verification, so when I installed the Patch appears:
E: Signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I suppose first we have to root the Galaxy J3 to open the extended boot menu were it has to appear the option to install the Patch, and finally we have to unlock it to use with other companies. There is a link to a forum about asking for help about rooting the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/help-root-galaxy-sm-j320vpp-android-6-0-t3421298
If someone could do that or do something to unlock the phone and use it on GSM network, please save us!!

I might try on a virtual machine but I don't have that much time today... Maybe tomorrow. Also if you know anybody ready to help understand how to pack a firmware and passe de secure check on odin, I'll be happy to get some help

No Working this root
Alright, a little bit of update...
I've managed to unpack and repack an tar.md5 file, and flash it through my phone with success. My biggest problem now is to find a way to unpack boot.img or recovery.img, and repack it without breaking it.
Can't find a way to do it properly. When I unpack the img and repack it imediatly without touching to anything the size of the image changes.... Odin won't flash it again after that. If I find a way to unpack and repack properly I think we will be on a good way to get root.
I'm a huge noob with these things tho so idk when I'll be able to fully understand the structure of a boot.img file...
If anyone is ready to help me out with this, I'll be happy to give my skype or smothing...
Have a nice day
