Hello,
I am in South Africa and I can not get data to work. I have validated all settings:
Data Roaming is on.
Cellular Data is on
Preferred Network Type is Global (I have also changed to LTE / GSM / UMTS with no success)
I have removed SIM card / placed back in.
I have reset all network settings
I have placed into Safe Mode
I have called Verizon Global Support and they have validated all settings.
All without success
Android Version - 6.0
Security Patch level - November 1, 2015
Is there anything I am missing? This is frustrating.
on your phone dialer type *#*#4636#*#* then from the top menu select change band and select USA band and restart your phone.

Sorry, I did not previously perform the step you out-lined. I thought you were referring to restarting the band.
I just did as you instructed and now the phone is not connecting to the South African networks(previously phone and SMS worked.
Now in the Cellular Network Settings, there is a new option 'System Select' which is selected to 'Automatic' with the other option 'Home only.'
Ideas?

Did you check you have all the APN's setup in your device? you should see 6 in that list. Verizon Internet APN should be selected.

With regards to the APN, I only have four:
EHRPD - VZW Roaming CBS
EHRPD - VZW Roaming IMS
LTE - VZW Roaming FOTA
LTE - VZW Roaming Internet
And nothing is selected.

Change your band to Band 6. turn off your phone and restart.
As for System select, it should be set to Change CDMA roaming Mode. Preferred network type, set it to Global.
For APN, if nothing is selected then select the one that says, Roaming Internet.

Sorry added more comments take a look at it. I had a similar issue in Mexico, I made the following changes to make it work. Once you get your network connected, then you can go back and change it to USA band if you want.

System Select should be 'Automatic?' I tried both 'Automatic and 'Home Only' and the other settings you specified and it is still not connecting.
I also did a factory reset and still not working??

OK, if none of those are working. Then your best bet is to reflash a radio. You will have to unlock your bootloader, Go to fastboot mode and use the flash all script, to reflash a factory image to your device.
There is a thread in the General help section, that can guide you thru the process. Remember unlocking bootloader will wipe your phone clean.

So, I'm going down that path, downloaded the 'angler' image for the Nexus 6P, unlocked the bootloader, issue ./flash-all.sh and it comes back(using terminal on mac) and says:

Baseband Version.....: angler-02.15

I need to download 'bullhead' then - although it says that is for the Nexus 5x? Feel like something is jacked.

What firmware, modem, rom are you using? Most likely is the modem causing it.
I bought it from eBay but i'm sure those things have not been tampered with.
It is locked onto UK's three mobile network.
It's on I9505XXUBMEA

The modem doesn't allow to access the service menu. You need XXUAME2 or older modem to get access to service menu.
This thread has all modems available to download.
As for the phone being carrier-locked, I'm not sure how to solve that. All phone sold in my country are unlocked.
so, i cant unlock the phone via the servicemode then?
and since it's carrier locked, i can't downgrade the modem? or can i?

You can downgrade the modem. This can be done by downloading modem from the thread I told you, and flashing it through Odin.
Edit: Be sure to follow the instructions on how to properly flash modem.
changing the modem will not affect the carrier lock will it?
I'm worried I might not be able to use any sim after changing the modem XD

If you're scared, you can always do a full system backup using custom recovery. If any problem occurs, just restore the backup.
Also, I just realized i can't find the settings to enable debugging on my S4
Can i still use customer recovery, my phone's not rooted and it boots with the three mobile logo

Custom recovery does NOT need root. It replaces the stock recovery of the phone. Same goes for modem.
Did you have developer options at your settings? If not, go to settings>about device. Press the 'Build Number' 7 or 8 times. (Cannot remember exactly how many times). The developer option will then be available.
yeah, just figured it out. ok i'm going to try it now using ME2 like you said... hopefully nothing bad happens

I have used the search function, but fear is killing me.
wherever I go, I find that the flashing process requires that the phone is unlocked.
can you please let me know how to go about it?
I downloaded the 02 modem firmware now. and Odin, but can't go any further
Hello, sorry to bring back this thread, but I have a weird problem.
I tried every possibility and variants of this unlock method (*#0011#) but nothing changes. It still asks for the network code.
I flashed a ME2 modem, and same thing ..

hello i was wondering if there is a way to unlock the sim on the xt907 after the kitkat update? i used the exploit to sim unlock this phone before so it could be used on straight talk. my brother updated it to kitkat and now the sim is locked again. is there anyway to redo the process or downgrade back down to jellybean so i can use the exploit again? any help would be awesome.
The procedure is the same you used before. It worked for me.

Are you sending the code "000000" (6 zeros)? I actually just unlocked mine successfully. I didn't use any of the downloads that he gave. I used the demo of CDMA Workshop (currently v3.9.0) and the drivers package from motorola's website. Try using those. It appeared to work for me.

Hmmm. That is interesting. The only thing that i can think of is your QC diagnostic driver may be corrupted somehow? Did you follow the video tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm2NKdXdHnc) to install it? Also can you post a screenshot with your device manager open while your phone is connected in bp tools mode. In you device manager expand the "Other Devices" tab.

Under installed programs, look for a name that begins with Motorola. Good Luck. If it isn't under installed programs, then I don't think they are installed. If so, go grab the official drivers from here: http://www.mymotocast.com/download/MDM?platform=windows

thanks, much and you have a good one as well.
just to recap for anyone else having this issue here goes what was wrong.
the issue: droid razr m xt907 on straight talk updated to 4.4 and service was lost
first thing make sure all your drivers are installed. in you have the phone plugged in and you dont see QC Interface then uninstall all and reference the links listed above in the other replies (or i may have them listed if i edit)
now make sure your usb cable is working, the one for this phone would not work properly for this so the blu studio 5.3s cable worked great. make sure you have cdma workshop and the spn code is "000000" aka six zeros.
follow all the steps in the tutorial and you should be up and running. this phone does work on straight talk if you follow the tutorial.

Yeah, I think the problem is that it knows that its ATT but it doesn't know what to do with the connection. You probably have to set a manual APN setting. Go to Settings-->Wireless&Networks-->More-->Mobile Networks-->Access Point Names-->Add Button(Upper Right Corner)
Use the following values:
NAME: (type anything you like, this doesn't matter. Use "AT&T Phone" or "My Phone", something like that. Just remember that every access point you create should have a different name.)
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: (not set)
Port: (not set)
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: (not set)
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: (not set)
APN type: (not set)
APN protocol: IPv4
APN: enabled (may need to check this, not sure about your model)
Bearer: unspecified
*DOUBLE CHECK SPELLING*
These values may not work. They were just the first ones i saw. If they don't work, then i will look for a new set of values.
If they dont work, also try the same settings with the username and password blank
When its added make sure you click on it in the access point names list.
Also go back from the access names list and make sure your "Prefferred Network Type" is set to Global.
Hopefully this works for you.
Does GSM mode with APN settings still work in 4.4.2
I have a Verizon RAZR M running on stock 4.1.2 + root + Xposed. I am using a GSM sim on my phone and I'm getting HSPA+ data (so I guess my phone is "unlocked" as I can use another carrier).
My question is does the 4.4.2 ROM support GSM mode and can we add/edit apn in the 4.4.2 rom?
You can edit/add APNs on 4.4.2 and I'm pretty sure you can use GSM on a 4.4.2 ROM.

I updated to KitKat 4.4.2. and my service stopped. I used Radiocomm to set the NV to 00. I failed at least three times. You have to enable developer options, usb debugging and boot up in Factory mode. Follow the instruction that have been poster on this form = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542 After I changed the NV I always pressed the restart button. After the phone has rebooted, unplug it and turn it off. Close Radiocomm and open Radiocomm up again. Boot phone back up in Factory mode and connect back usb to Radiocomm. Read the NV again. If it still 00, it has worked. Radiocomm, like people have said, will not see your phone unless usb debugging and Factory mode have not been set. My only complaint is that JB worked prefect and KK has the "Modem Fast Dormancy Monitor Service" screw up. Me and my wifes phone both are effected by this. Our JB battery life was real good. Now we both have reboots 2 or 3 times a day. My battery was dead one morning. I have found no help for this. Good luck with your phone. My Straight Talk AT&T service is really good. Fast Dormancy errors will make me buy some another phone unless Motorola issues a fix. I'm not going to hold my breathe!
Hi there
Recently I encountered some issues with my Note 3. google playstore did not allow me to sign in and no notifications appeared on my screen (the phone has root, and TWRP). I decided to try out CM11, downloaded it from the original site along with gapps on my internal sd. i wiped data cache .. the usual and installed the two files except they did not do anything. I download the custom recovery 1.3gb file using odin. booted up and noticed that my service is not working. i called my service provider to see if the problem was on their end but wasnt. i factory reset the phone via settings... same problem. i went into recovery wiped data and cache booted up and same issue.
IMEI= has not been blacklisted
I occasionally do see bars appear however no change in service status
I tried flashing TWRP again and installing CM11 except i get a "failed" message "unable to mount"
I sure hope I did not kill this phone
any idea how do i get service back on my phone? everything else on the phone works besides service provider....
Thank you very much!!
Not sure if this means anything ...
When you had it working with a Touchwiz Rom it could have been your APN settings that were not allowing you to get signal.
If I were you I would start fresh and download the factory image from sammobile and flash it again using Odin. We can start troubleshooting from there.
Did you use this tutorial to get a custom recovery installed? Its really straightforward and I recommend this method over all others.

1. Check for Reactivation Lock
2. Check that you are NOT downgrading your bootloader.
EDIT: You are downgrading your bootloader, or else you wouldn't get the aboot fused 2 > binary 2 error.
You will have to flash stock, go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=26660
Flash that in AP of Odin. Then you will be reverted back to stock.

You might have to set up your APN settings after you have done that. You can google the APN settings for your carrier and then put them in manually by going Settings > Connections > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
You'll be able to add them in there.

I gave that a try, rebooted the phone, attempted a call and "Not registered on network"
would changing the ROM have any impact on the service for whatever reason? i gave CM11 a try but wouldn't instal.
Seeing all that you've tried, the one thing i don't see tried is the sim card. Have you tried your sim in another phone, or another known good sim in yours? The fact it gets signal but doesn't register with the network makes me think the sim had somehow gotten corrupted.

That'd be a bit weird, but yeah you should ask your friend's phone to try your SIM card.

Would trying your method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792819) but changing the bootloader to NB7 work?
"If your bootloader is of version NA2 (somehow) or NB7, skip to the contents of Step 4," rather than proceeding to step 4 going to step 1?
I updated to stock 5.1 from 5.0.2 yesterday. Prior to this I had LTE 4G on T-Mobile. Now I'm back to 3G . Does anyone else have this experience? and are ther any solutions out there I could use?
I'd value any input or advice on this issue.
Thanks
I tried too to revert 4g on my 5.1 n4 but after i wiped everything ( excepting system ... ) i got a lovely bsod ( blank screen of death ) i don't think is a sollution yet , if i done something wrong someone please explain us how to get it properly back w/o probs , wait for some ideas thanks .
You'll obviously need to be sure the hybrid modem is installed. Beyond that as I recall, I had to "force" it to see the LTE network by dialing *#*#4636#*#* and selecting "LTE only" for the connection. After that I was able to set it to "LTE/GSM auto" and it has worked correctly since.

I tried that but it did not offer the ability to make that change. I could on 5.0.2. I'm not sure where to get the hybrid modem? any Ideas would be helpful. also does anyone know which hybrid modem to use for T-mobile? Thanks
Go to settings -> About Phone
The Android software version number and baseband (modem) version will be listed. If the last 2 digits of the baseband version is greater than 33, you will not have LTE capability.

Reboot to Recovery and flash above LTE .zip

I'm sorry for being a little slow on this, but when you say reboot to recovery, what do you mean exactly? I have the file downloaded though. Is this a hack or is this something that was made for this phone by Google? I guess what I'm asking is, could I screw up my phone from doing this and if I do, can I revert back to where I had it prior to this if it doesn't work or don't like it?

To help your self out It might be useful if you read the post from the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60115195&postcount=771
It will help you understand the whole process and how to do it. It will also give you lots of background on the issue.
To perform the "Flash" I use the Nexus Root Toolkit. which can be found here.
I hope this helps you. Let us know how it goes
This is perfect! Thank you!
I'm noticing that the settings done keep after a reboot. I don't have to reflash the modem, but I do have to go back into the 4636 settings to re-enable LTE. I've heard this might be fixable in the build.prop? Any thoughts?

You do it straight from your phone. Download the file, boot into your Recovery, go to the folder you saved the file in (likely in your "Downloads" folder, and just flash the .zip file from your Phone's recovery, and it will do all the necessaries.
It worked flawlessly when I flashed that zip from recovery. All relevant settings changed from 3G to 4G and HSPA to LTE. Speed went from 10 to 36mbps (Telus Canada). ROM is 5.1.1 LMY48T

Thanks that got almost work for me but it says its for android 5.1+ and I am on android 6.0.1 aosp ROM.
But after that I flashed this and bingoo. I can use LTE only in Android 6.
Used this http://www.mediafire.com/?2thymqa7fiiyrqy
Now I can able to click on 'only LTE' from phone info
And it stays at LTE only.
Before this when I goto phone info and it got gsm or wcdma even I click on LTE now its working for me.
I found that zip file from anywhere else I don't know where so I had uploaded and shared here.
Here is what I found about version check. Give it a try if you wish
a) expand nexus-4-lte-enabler-v2.13.zip
b) edit META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script
c) replace 5.1 with 6.0.1 in this line
( is_substring("5.1", file_getprop("/system/build.prop","ro.build.version.release")) )
d) update zip with new file
e) flash zip

I was just trying to get a good signal on 4G and carelessly tapped on the USA band option in "change radio band" in the testing menu as mentioned above. Please help me with this as I don't have a good 4G signal where I live (India, if that's relevant), and calls keep dropping.

Yes, this is a solution to the problem.
Remember never set radio band to USA.
Is it possible to fix this by flashing only the modem file?

Maybe, but with access to the root. Flashing the original software does not require unlocked bootloader.

They may provide such services. You can fix it yourself (It takes me than 10 minutes), but if you have concerns it's better to do it for someone with experience.
Regards.

I did flash the modem on my old droid maxx without root. It was done using fastboot commands.
If you don't mind losing all your files, I recommend flashing the stock 6.0 completely. Sometimes service center does this too and they don't care about your data assuming you already backed up everything.
Moto X pure edition XT1575 model has same issue
