I have a galaxy J3 SM-j320VPP i bought it in california, am a kenyan and am back home am not recieving any network signals. After some research i found out its not a Global phone. Its running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
It's not capable of GSM. I don't think any prepaid Verizon phones are.

Is it configurable to receive other Global CDMA networks apart from the Verizon's?
I don't konw!
Maybe with the DFS tool, but doubt there is much info or a guide for that particular model, if it is possible. It's not a common thing and typically the kind of people who figure that kind of thing out are going to be working on more popular models.
I bought one recently and although I'm not sure if it will work with global gsm networks.... I was able to make it recognize a USA t-mobile sim card. By simply adding the correct APN settings.
Trying to save my Galaxy J320VPP Verizon
Hi, yesterday I tried to install a Patch to enable GSM in a CDMA Global phone like appears in the next link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689 but I couldn't install it because I don´t have the option in the boot menu to install it without signature verification, so when I installed the Patch appears:
E: Signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I suppose first we have to root the Galaxy J3 to open the extended boot menu were it has to appear the option to install the Patch, and finally we have to unlock it to use with other companies. There is a link to a forum about asking for help about rooting the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/help-root-galaxy-sm-j320vpp-android-6-0-t3421298
If someone could do that or do something to unlock the phone and use it on GSM network, please save us!!

Sergio, I was looking the J3 spec, and it only sais it has a "1.2 GHz, Quad-Core". There is no place that sais it's a "Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Msm:8916" processor. You think your suggestion could work?
Did anyone figure out if that snapdragon root will work on the sm j320vpp I can't get any 1 click methods to work (towelroot n kingroot) found a way to do it thru Odin but my pic sucks I hate having to use it.

I did tried this thing but it doesn't work because of the method used... I think the only way to get root on this phone is by getting a custom recovery to work !

I don't think this is a good idea, this root tool is detected as a virus and I can't find a lot of informations about the group behind it. No Working this root
Alright, a little bit of update...
I've managed to unpack and repack an tar.md5 file, and flash it through my phone with success. My biggest problem now is to find a way to unpack boot.img or recovery.img, and repack it without breaking it.
Can't find a way to do it properly. When I unpack the img and repack it imediatly without touching to anything the size of the image changes.... Odin won't flash it again after that. If I find a way to unpack and repack properly I think we will be on a good way to get root.
I'm a huge noob with these things tho so idk when I'll be able to fully understand the structure of a boot.img file...
If anyone is ready to help me out with this, I'll be happy to give my skype or smothing...
Have a nice day

Yes, turn on your phone, take your sim card out and re install it, go to network setting and set it to global, leave it like that for some time and it will automatically set your network.
I have had same issue, after updating a rom i get no network. So i set it to global and leave it like that for almost an hour then when i reached my phone again, its connected to network.
Didn't help

If you want to unlock it, refer to this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455956

Hello, yesterday i bought used samsung galaxy s7 edge dual, sm-g935fd. It was rooted, owner said root was done to flash a rom to let phone see two sims. Went back home, started to install apps, and saw that snapchat doesnt work with rooted phone, so turned superSU, chose full unroot, phone did restart but stuck on bootloop. All I saw, was csc:g935f0xx1bph1 and pda:G935FXXU1BPLB. Could't find matching pda and csc roms, so installed another, for g935f, and everything worked fine, except from network, it only says emergency calls only and no signal, but it finds that my sim is from tele2.
On other thread i saw that i can use home_csc for my csc code, and any other pda, bl, ap, tried that and odin failed to flash it, so now flashed netherlands stock rom that changed my AP:G935FXXU1DQEF CP:G935FXXU1DQD7 CSC:G935FPHN1DQD1 Model: SM-G935F/DS.
Can you guys help me to get my network signal working again? I think that matching software for my phone would fix it, but i cant find which one to flash, or is there anything else that could have caused that?
Thank you for your help.

Sounds like your EFS is corrupted...
*Encrypted File System (EFS) | The EFS refers to a folder called EFS which can store information like meid, imei, serial number, config, diag settings and radio settings, etc in an encrypted format at the file system level stores. So it is very neccessary for us to backup EFS before flashing ROMs.*

i dont think that they can help me. I am not really good in flashing, because english is not my native language so i dont know what kernel means, whats the difference between firmware and software, and even rom, but i think that i have wrong bl/ap/csc/pda or something like that. Found that F in sm g935fd means it is international, looks like i can flash any country unbranded stock rom, but somehow it wont work for me, and i cant believe i did that much damage just by clicking on unroot in superSU app..
Hello friends.
I recently purchased a galaxy note 3 SM-N9005 from cex and I rooted it and tried to install a new ROM. But when I install any touchwiz ROM the phone would automatically restart continuously with the sim. As soon as I remove the sim. The phone works perfectly. I've tried to change sim cards but no luck. But if I install any aosp ROM the phone works perfectly. Can you guys find the reason why this is happening? Would be highly appreciated.
Sorry for bad english

Nice, i like to find solution for this rare problem.
This gonna be long post but im trying to save you.
Not sure where to start but i think better start from scratch.
You gonna do try and error.
If success, hope can safe another people in the future.
Method 1
Don't put sim
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Then go to phone information
Tell me what "set preferred network type" it show
Try changing network type
Put Sim back
If fail & restart, repeat and changing another network.
Method 2
This need internet and waste alots time but you musy try if all fail.
Go to updato.com and download the right model.
Download latest Stock ROM for your phone.
Download oldest Stock ROM for your phone.
Flash latest if restart Flash Oldest.
Tell the result
Method 3
1.Incase you in Custom ROM kindly flash Stock ROM(ROM that make phone restart)
2.Need root phone & file manager that can access root folder like root explorer
3.Go to root/system/lib/
4.Backup/copy libsec-ril.so(send me this file for my research)
Now Flash Custom ROM(ROM that not make your phone restart)
5.step 2
6.step 3
7.step 4(dont send me this fail just backup in SD card)
8.Flash to Stock ROM
9.step 2
10.step 3 & change folder permission fron Read only to Read write
11.copy paste libsec-ril.so that you backup and change folder permission to Read only
12.off phone and put sim card
13. Goodluck & tell the result
If this fail you gonna try same method but different thing and might be need to discuss in PM about some privacy stuff.
Well so far i want you test this, good luck.
Tell me the result.

Hi,
i just flashed with TWRP the official oreo update from the ZTE site.
Now i get no service.
To do the initial setup I had to put my SIM card into another phone otherwise I couldn't get passed the setup.
I can see that the SIM is inserted in to the phone and the phone finds it (in the mobile network settings it sees it as SIM 1 instead of SIM SLOT 2 and he let me change the APN and the preferred network type).
When i try to change the call settings it says "Call settings error - Network or SIM card error".
Also some how I cannot connect to my wifi. To finish the setup a friend used his phone to hotspot me and it worked. I can even see the other networks, but I cannot see mine anymore.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks

You can probably get it fixed by just flashing your device modem. Look at the LOS 15.1 thread OP for the link.

I found it but my main problem right now is that with the update root and TWRP went away.
I tried to flash it with fastboot but everytime it just boots. So I decided to try with ADB sideload and it gave me this error when he verify the package:
E: footer is wrong
E: Signature verification failed
E: error: 21
So right now i'm stuck here. I tried with TWRP and the device modem directly but no luck, it gives me the same error.

Looks like your bootloader is locked ( i think stock B20 does that) so you can't flash anything not signed. The is an old twrp from the MM B20 days that was signed but would probably not work on new bootstack. You will probably have to EDL back to a 7.1.1. for the G model to get the right modem back and to unlock the bootloader again. Then check the threads on how to flash B20 withouth relocking bootloader ( might not be possible at the moment i have not kept up with day to day info)
Try using the Edl tool by @djkuz
Or try the Axon7 tool kit, if you still have the current ROM.
Use the flash section and flash the correct modem/radio zip, see if that works.
If you have root access try changing the NON-HLOS.bin file (modem/radio file) with the correct version and restart your phone.
I'm not sure if that will work but its worth a try.
There are 2 setups with the NON-HLOS.bin and flashable version and replacement file.

Oh man, thank you so much. After reading threads the entire week I came to the conclusion that EDL was the only solution since I don't have access to root. But since I already failed one time I wasn't sure about it.
With this message you saved my life. Can I ask you one thing? I already tried to flash something through the Axon7Toolkit but I got stopped by the fastboot not working. If I want to have root access after I *hopefully* fix the modem, should I stick to EDL or is there another way to get the bootloader unlocked since it's bugged in the developer options (I already tried to do it with the Axon7toolkit but, again, I got stopped by the fastboot)?
Once again, thank you so much.

I have Axon7tool kit, Edl tool by @djkuz and Miflash
I find sometimes a combination of them can get you up and running.
I've been using Edl tool to prep my phone and then flash Edl packages via Miflash.
You are most welcome btw.
did youbsolved the problem? i got an similar one.
I have a Galaxy S8 that is FRP locked.
The exact model and version is: 8.0.0/R16NW/G950USQS3CRE2
From what I understand this has the v3 bootloader and Oreo, correct?
I need some help getting this phone unlocked. Anyone care to lend a hand? I can use Odin and ADB just fine, I just need to find the correct files needed for the version I have.
Also, if I can actually get the correct files., can someone outline the steps needed to do this? I've been trying to unlock this thing for about three weeks and my brain is turned to mush with all the things I've tried.
Please don't send me PMs trying to get me to contact through other means.

Hey. Don't worry. Frp lock is a protection for your phone this occurs when your oem lock is on. To unlock it go into developer options and then tick the oem unlock option . But for now your phone locked all you can do it flash stock firmware using odin . That's the only way . I know the data ma be precious inside the phone but it be useless until phone in not booting . So ho and flash stock firmware for your device from sammobile.com
Thats all . I hope may this helps you and inform me as soon as possible.
Stay Blessed?
Sorry for bad english.

Yeah, flashing the firmware doesn't reset the FRP. Tried just AP, AP and BL, all five, doesn't matter. On first boot it requires the previous owner to log in. It's stored somewhere that's not touched by the flashing process somehow. Or it fails. After doing all five files on first boot it says it's installing something, gets into the 30% range, then says erasing for a bit and reboots.
Is there any way to do this?

flash a combination file factory reset from combo then flash legit bit 3 or higher firmware. The 30% failure after erasing is normal. 32% normally
Thanks for the reply. Is this what I need?

I've never done a combination file, so not sure what's involved.

If I may ask, what is a "combination file?" What exactly does it do? I'll flash it this evening after work.

Its test and diagnostic firmware released by Samsung. It is not a usable rom. You'll flash this. Factory reset from inside the settings menu. Then you can reflash official firmware. And you should be good to go unless this has been patched

So I went ahead and flashed the combination file in the first link and did a factory reset. Now when I try to flash the files I already have it fails. I'm assuming that's because I flashed a bit 5 combination firmware, and the stock files I have are not bit 5.
How do I know which firmware files I need? Do I need to do all files (BL, AP, CP, CSC) or just one? It's very hard to figure out what to do when everything I read is different.

Yea you need bit 5 files. Flash all 4. If you look at a firmware number. 5th dig from far end will be a 1-6 that's the current bit, anti rollback whatever you want to call it.

Thank you so much for the help. I'm getting closer.
I am currently downloading a file called G950USQU5DSC1. Should be bit 5. I'm pretty sure it's for Sprint, and this phone was originally Verizon. Will this be a problem? I'd very much prefer AT&T or T-Mobile, but Verizon might be OK if I'm locked to it.

verizon firmware is unlocked sim wise sprint firm probably wont work but also should setup based off of your sim card inserted.
dsc1 i believe is pie which is awesome on s8 you can change carrier also with the combination file pretty much as your doing with each personalized firmware to each carrier

I'm grabbing the file from this page: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-firmware/
How can I tell which carrier is which? I'd rather just flash the correct one off the bat. Looks like the only one on that page for the 950U that is Pie is the Sprint one. I don't have a SIM. Well, I could take the one out of my current phone temporarily if it'll help set it up correctly.
Is the process for switching carriers just flashing the CSC file? Or is it more involved.
EDIT: There is a CRK1 file that is U5 and Oreo. Pretty sure that is Verizon. Cancelled the other file and am downloading this one. Going to take a while, using my phone as it's faster than my home internet.

The CsC determines sales code and carrier setup. I use sammobile or updato.com they have all firmwares needed
Boom. It worked. Typing this on the S8. Even accepted my AT&T SIM and connected to data.
Flashed an 8.0 firmware, but it seems to be getting updates. Maybe it'll update automatically to 9.
Anyway, thanks again. Free S8 is nice.

that firmware is from sprint. something worth sharing is that all S8's designated for the US market are literally the exact same physically. You CAN flash whatever firmware you want for whatever carrier on a g950u. You will need a modified version of Odin to flash firmwares originally intended for a different phone tho. I had the FRP lock on my dads old S5 the other day, but i was able to get thru it with my gmail information oddly enough. Not sure why google thought that authenticating use on that device per my gmail account credentials was ok, but..... ok i guess.
Once you get the phone up and running, put a sim card from whatever provider you intend on using in the phone, if it asks you for an unlock code, then youll need to get one from the original carrier it was intended for or a third party paid site. AT&T has a sim unlock tool on their own site you can try.
Teh reason i mentioned that all the S8s intended for the USA are literally identical is because you can take a sprint S8 and use it on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mob blah blah provided youve flashed the correct firmware, which is either the U1 version or the bespoke firmware for that carrier

Very good info. Thanks.
When I first booted the phone after flashing I had put my StraightTalk AT&T SIM in and it connected right away. It also started downloading and installing system updates, all the way through the Android 9 upgrade and the August security update. Pretty cool. The only thing I see is after a reboot or power on a notification pops saying that a non-Verizon SIM is installed. But that notification can be dismissed, and as far as I can see doesn't recur until next boot. So easily ignored. And there's Verizon specific bloatware. Maybe I'll download AT&T and T-Mobile images just in case. I've been thinking about carrier hopping, as I have pretty poor AT&T coverage in my area, since with StraightTalk I can get a Verizon SIM added to my plan and take my AT&T one off pretty easily.
I haven't really used the phone much yet, as I'm waiting on a case, but I'm not sure I'm going to like the Samsung skin. I'm used to a very stock Android experience, as I've only really used Motorola phones and my current Nokia 6.1. I just like plain vanilla Android. But I'll give it a shot. Already installed Nova Launcher and F-Droid.
followed everything on this thread, uploaded 5 level firmware files just fine, but now i get a "system software not authorized by at&t.." message.. any help?

It's ok. Treat it as download mode and flash
