My friend has got a Samsung I5800 Apollo (Galaxy 3) which he claims it cannot make or receive calls. He asked me what might be wrong with it. I'm not saying its lost or stolen but why else would it not work? Only other thing could possibly when it was unlocked to networks the phone imei got messed up? I've seen some phones get all zeros.
i'd suggest unlocking it with superoneclick. if that fails, maybe replace the phone.apk?
Honestly, i think the simplest solution when u have serious prblms like that is to backup all ur data and just flash a new ROM. I can wholeheartedly recommend Kyrillos' ROM v9.5. Hasnt let me down once!

You didn't by any chance restore your system data with TiBa when changing roms?? And not to sound patronising but you can enter recovery mode (if available on your kernel) by pushing Vol Up+Vol Down+Home+Power buttons together and restore factory settings, or download mode to flash from Odin by pushing Vol Down+Home+Power buttons together.
Okay i got the phone today and it was on 2.1. I updated it to AOKP just to test and it installed fine. But the sim card does not get found at all. I tried 2 sim cards that work in my sg2.
If there any place I can check to see if the phone has actually been locked to use?
Sometimes problems like this can be caused by framework-res.apk. Try flashing a custom ROM and see if it works.

If I'm not wrong, AOKP is an ICS ROM, and I'd read that ICS has a bug and don't see the sim card untill you remove the pin.
Wont work without disabling Pin on SIM.
i'm gonna quote the solution i had with the exact same problem when my emei got corrupted:
marcel i found out what was teh problem corrupted EMEI - efs....
i was lucky enough to have a nv_data.bin backed up in my sd from ages ago!
i dowloaded an efs.tar flashed it through odin and then copy nv_data.bin from sd -> /efs and then
chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
i inserted my sim and VOILAAA!!! this is a know problem with cm7 and since someone will get this problem these are the links that will solve the problem:

Well, Hi!
A little history before the real problem.
My girlfriend bought a U8800-51 phone by my recommendations, because it's a great phone in this range of prices.
The phone had a problem. It reboot many times in a day (10~20 times) So I decided to upgrade the OS to GB with the gingermovida v1.1 ROM.
The phone stopped in the bootanimation secuence. I tried 5 times with the same result.
I downloaded the official 2.2.2 ROM from the Huawei website and put it in the SD card. I turned on the phone in download mode and started the install secuence. But stopped in the 2/2 step with the "Update Failed" message.
I tried to enter in recovery mode without success, with 5 different "recovery.img" files. In a thread in this forum somebody explained a method to back to stock froyo ROM using a .img file and the Roadkil's Disk Image tool, but with a AT&T img file.
My brother has the same phone so i made a backup of his phone and put it in my girlfriend phone. Everything works great! Boot OS and load all the information, 3G work and USB Mass storage work, so I did a wipe data - factory reset and everyrhing works again.
At this point I discovered that the IMEI is the same of my brother's phone. I tried many different tricks or tutorials (QPST, CDMA Tool, DFS, AT Command in Terminal, etc) and nothing changed. In the last try I upgraded the OS using CM7 movida v2 and 3G works, WiFi works, but I still have the same IMEI and a new problem came out. When I plug the USB cable and activate the Mass Storage Mode, only shows a Read Only CD drive with all SD Card files.
In the stock froyo ROM I went to the "Project Menu" and changed the USB options, but I can't remember in what option I leave it. In this ROM (CM7 movida v2) i can't go to this menu and check if I have the same Stock ROM configuration.
Besides, I didn't backed up my GF'S IMEI. So I don't know if it can be recovered.
She's gonna kill me, so I need a little help ASAP!
That's all. So here's the thing:
- I have the same IMEI of my brother's phone.
- Everything works except for the Read-Only Mass Storage Mode.
P.S: I don't know if the different driver that I installed affect something here.
Try to upgrade your phone, puting dload folder on sdcard, maybe it can fix your IMEI. About the mounting, I dont know what is happening, but maybe if you upgrade your OS, it will work fine..
What ROM can I use? The Official Huawei ROM (Movilnet U8800-51) didn't work (to solve the IMEI problem) If I try to downgrade using that ROM the phone stop in the 2 step and then I will need to do everything again.

Well, that ROM is for PRO version of the U8800 phone and I have the U8800-51 version. Baseband and other thing are different between versions. I will try the steps of your link when my girlfriend let me try again

that's why I don't share backup. The fw on the -51 is tightly locked. I'm surprised they allowed pink screen. Your better off going for warranty. Unless, you can open the background password. I'll look for an alternative fix.

Hey guys I'm having a little problem with my GT-i9505. Problem being that I cannot get any reception on my device. It first occurred when I flashed a 4.3 rom over my 4.4.2 rom. I've tried switching to several different roms, both 4.3 and 4.4, yet none can fix the problem. I've tried to flash at least a dozen modem's in a bid to fix it. I searched for the modem suitable to my device and yet they still didn't work. I even tried to just install the official Samsung 4.4.2 rom via Odin, yet I'm still having the same problem. My baseband does change whenever I flash a new modem, but I still cant get a signal. When I try to search for a network in settings it lists the main carriers in the UK, but when I try to select mine (3 UK) it doesn't allow me to register, clicking select automatically yields the same results too. I've been searching for hours today on how to fix this, but just can't seem to find a method that helps. Any suggestions?
Have you tried manually entering the APN settings for 3 UK?

Take your S4 to a repair shop. Use Phil,s recovery when you re-root, install Omega ROM or another Samsung based ROM and, using Philz Touch 6 recovery, make a copy of your EFS file so if / when it happens again you can reinstall Omega or whichever ROM you installed and, using Philz recovery, you can reinstall your EFS file.
To make the backup, reboot recovery - backup and restore - custom backup - x (only in efs backup) - start custom backup - choose where to put the backup.
I use Omega as a reference because I know it will not screw up your EFS file.

Is there a way to fix this without having to spend anything? I literally can't afford to take it to a repair shop at this time
Also, my IMEI still shows as it should (corresponds with the IMEI on the back of my phone)

I had the same problem with my i9500 after flashing a Slim rom Perhaps you can get a copy of an efs file from someone with the same phone and then put it on your phone, or get the information you need from your phone company.

im really really desperate to get mine fixed also with the same problem, my imei is ok but not getting any signal at all, no matter what i try or how many sims i've tried

Did you try to remove the SIM CARD and switch off /on the phone to clean internal SIM register and to reinsert your SIM card again?
This worked for me once.
Nothing is wrong with my Sim slot cause when my sim card is in i can see my network name Wen I slide down status bar, only that no signal at all

I now have exactly the same problem as you. I tried (once again) to install a new ROM on my i9500 (SOKP this time) and now (for the third time) my phone won't register on the network. I'll take it to China Unicom in the morning and let you know what happened. Unfortunately I don't speak Chinese very well but I will try to watch what the repair guy does. Perhaps it will be of some help.
I took the phone to China Unicom but the tech that repaired it last time wasn't there.

i'm on three uk network and signal indoors is absolutely atrocious! (especially since they started "upgrading" to 4g networks - i had the exact same problem with t-mobile switched to becoming ee, i don't know why these companies are so intent on breaking networks which worked perfectly before by "upgrading" them).

A friend of mine is using n9005 in UK that was locked on three uk and he asked me if I could root his device and make it look better with some note 7 ported rom. I asked him to unlock the phone with his network provider and he did it. After all he could put any carrier's sim card and use it. I managed to install philz cwm and latest supersu and all was good until I installed a rom. The phone started rebooting as soon as I put a sim card. Any sim card. I tried different roms and the phone behaved exactly the same. With no sim card the phone worked like a charm. Is there any way I can install a rom and make it work and behave like a phone. Before posting the thread I tried to find the solution myself checking throughout the internet but with no success. Any help would be more then welcome and appreciated.
I recommend using twrp as many newer roms require it for installation.

What's the version of your bootloader and modem ?
Did you tried to update them ?
What custom roms do you tried ?

Philz and cwm have not been updated for a long time and all recent custom roms need twrp which is why I suggested using twrp.

I have no doubt in your good will
I just wanted to say that TWRP is not mandatory for flashing new ROMs.
Even if he is old, Philz is perfectly capable of handling Aroma installers, while the latest available versions of TWRP can't, as you know.
The most recent roms use the same install scripts that date back to years.
Depending on the ROM, twrp is recommended by the developer and the op's problem may be related to using cwm as the recovery. I'm not saying cwm is the problem but the possibility exists.
Guys I didn't want to stir up a hornet's nest. I appreciate your both advises but I don't think that it's a problem with a sort of recovery. By the way I tried TWRP but the phone just seemed to not accept any other recovery then Philz. Like I mentioned earlier I successfully managed to root the device, what I didn't mention was that I managed even to install stock firmware different then H3G from Three UK via odin and while rooted, the phone was working just fine. But when I installed roms (darklord, aryamode and fake nougat ) the phone just went crazy after inserting a sim card. When looking for the solution on internet I found information about changing PIT file. So I found the PIT file proper for the UK area and tried it but I almost bricked the phone definitely. Fortunately I managed to bring it back to normal but like I mentioned it works with a sim card on stock rooted firmware.
You confirmed the model number in download mode?
Did you use Odin to install twrp?
I'm not sure why the phone would not accept twrp as it has been used on the n9005 by XDA members for a while.
Darklord and Arayamod can use Philz or twrp because they use aroma installers. Did you try a rom that doesn't use aroma?
If the pit file is for the phone and you are flashing it with the proper version of Odin and stock ROM, not sure why it would cause a near brick. What error message did you get in Odin?
Yes I confirmed the model and yes I used odin the latest version. Unfortunately I wasn't much interested with the message odin gave after I installed PIT fie but came as failed milliseconds after I pressed start button. I don't know maybe it wasn't 100% proper PIT file. But the most interested fact is that before installing roms the phone worked and behaved properly with different sim cards and didn't want to after. Right now I can't try other roms as I had to give the phone back but as soon I have it back I will try different roms without aroma and maybe I'll start from something lighter then ported roms, and then if I succeed maybe i'll be able to flash ported roms. I had the phone only for a couple of hours and I didn't have time to try other roms. I focused on n7 ported ones because that what a friend of mine wanted and I didn't take into account the fact that it might cause so many issues. But thanks for your help anyway.
Hello, yesterday i bought used samsung galaxy s7 edge dual, sm-g935fd. It was rooted, owner said root was done to flash a rom to let phone see two sims. Went back home, started to install apps, and saw that snapchat doesnt work with rooted phone, so turned superSU, chose full unroot, phone did restart but stuck on bootloop. All I saw, was csc:g935f0xx1bph1 and pda:G935FXXU1BPLB. Could't find matching pda and csc roms, so installed another, for g935f, and everything worked fine, except from network, it only says emergency calls only and no signal, but it finds that my sim is from tele2.
On other thread i saw that i can use home_csc for my csc code, and any other pda, bl, ap, tried that and odin failed to flash it, so now flashed netherlands stock rom that changed my AP:G935FXXU1DQEF CP:G935FXXU1DQD7 CSC:G935FPHN1DQD1 Model: SM-G935F/DS.
Can you guys help me to get my network signal working again? I think that matching software for my phone would fix it, but i cant find which one to flash, or is there anything else that could have caused that?

I don't think it's CSC related...maybe modem problem.
Flash custom ROM,install magisk..hide magisk for Snapchat and u could use it with a rooted phone

Check Superman ROM..u have there guide for rooting and install the ROM. It's the easiest way. U need to flash twrp with Odin.. get lost of dm verity with a flash able file in twrp ..have the ROM,add-ons ,kernel if needed on SD card and ur ready to go..in half an hour u will have root and custom rom.

Sounds like your EFS is corrupted...
*Encrypted File System (EFS) | The EFS refers to a folder called EFS which can store information like meid, imei, serial number, config, diag settings and radio settings, etc in an encrypted format at the file system level stores. So it is very neccessary for us to backup EFS before flashing ROMs.*

I didn't try another sim. But now I'm using my cracked s6 edge with same simcard installed and it works fine

same result, my phone sees my sim contacts, it sees which career my sim belongs, but cant connect to it, phone acts like im not using sim, i cant do any call, just tried to do these *#xx#* things without sim in my s6 edge and the result was the same as in s7 edge with sim

Try call ur operator..to try registering ur phone on network..call them from another number

I am not really good in flashing, because english is not my native language so i dont know what kernel means, whats the difference between firmware and software, and even rom, but i think that i have wrong bl/ap/csc/pda or something like that. Found that F in sm g935fd means it is international, looks like i can flash any country unbranded stock rom, but somehow it wont work for me, and i cant believe i did that much damage just by clicking on unroot in superSU app..
