Kingo.app isn't endorsed on XDA due to IMEI numbers, theoretically, being copied to chinese servers...
It's easier to just use cf-autoroot and flash this in PC ODIN. Just make sure which Note 3 you have. I can say I have a note 3 and have 1 of 20 - 30 different models. Rooting is dependant on which model you have...
If you have the international 4G n9005 then using cf-autoroot in PC ODIN is best/easiest, you also need to know what version of Android you're running...

Thanks mate.
The note 3 I have is SM-N9005.
Android version is 4.3.
Can you kindly guide me to instructions for cf-autoroot and also how I make a backup of the phone including iemi incase something goes wrong.?
Is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/tool-samsung-tool-1-0-t2602325 ok to use to backup phone?
If so do I root first then use it or do it before root?
Should i update to 4.4.2 before or after root?
Cheers

Help with Titanium Backup

hi, I need some help in decrypt TB backup file. The backup is done on rooted Note II but I sold the Note II and bought the Note III. With the knox thing on Note III, I still have not rooted my phone. Bought it only for 2 months and prefer not ruin the warranty. I just want to restore some of the save game ( year of playing time). I cannot extract the .tar.gz file because I am using passphase. Anyone can help me by providing step I can decrypt and retrieve the data from .tar.gz file? I have the passphase so I just need to know the way to decrypt and extract it without an rooted phone. I don't have any other android phone (only iphone 4 and Note III) so using other phone is not possible. I have tried to contact TB support but no reply for 2 months. It is really help if someone can pointed out for me the right direction.
Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do without root.
Though you could maybe root your Note 3 without voiding warranty.
Dial *#1234# and check your software version. Then check out the URLDV thread.

Restore\Change 0000 IMEI on SW-N900W8

How can i flash the correct IMEI back to my note 3?
I have a Note 3 (SM-N900W8), the canadian version. it has MJ4, rooted and buysbox installed.
I have tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611903 and used the Qualcomm Tool but that didn't help. I still have a 000 IMEI.
Please help!
Did you make a Nandroid of your EFS?

First, did you make a Nandroid backup of your previous EFS and Modem partitions? If yes, simply restore from the same recovery you were using at the time. This often solves the problem.
However, if you do NOT have a Nandroid, then you are in for a potentially difficult solution. Worst case, your phone is permanently bricked.
I lost my IMEI on a device a couple of years ago (I think it was the HTC ONE), and was successful in getting it back, but only after a very complicated procedure. Would the same procedure work again today, on a different device? I don't know.
One thing to remember ... it is impossible to simply flash a file to recover your IMEI, as this is technically illegal, and every phone has a unique IMEI number.
If I were you, I would search on xda for IMEI recovery. I know there are many threads, but I don't know if there's anything specific to the Note 3.
Good luck,
Peter

Just don't flash the Fire script as all you'll end up doing is losing all data.
Have a read HERE, make sure you understand it all as you can hard brick if you're not careful. It takes a bit of ADB trickery however you can restore your IMEI/S/N and I have advised a couple of people to use this guide previously with success.
My Phone is working perfectly fine with no IMEI blacklist or bad ESF, I just would like to change my IMEI to that of Black Berry to enjoy Black Berry services from my Provider. I have Nandriod backuped should incase anything goes wrong. It is possible to change my IMEI .....?

[Q] WARNING: NEW USER w/ NC4 question

Hello everyone,
So, I have been doing quite a bit of reading and I am trying to figure out if my version of the Note 3 is a rootable device. I have the NC4 bootloader from KK 4.4.2, but I can't tell if people are working on this or just on new versions of the NC2 version.
Sorry if I am totally out of place here or there is already another thread on this issue.
Much obliged,
Austin

First of all don't be scared posting a question the threads are pretty full of nonsense but as a noob you can't know everything (it's in the xda rules 2)
Second you need to state the model (n9005/n900t or like that) which you find in settings/general/about device as well as if you want to root keeping your phones guarantee or not.
@4aces
Thanks for your reassuring words. My Model is N900V and the Build VRUCNC4.
I am not really concerned with keeping my warranty, although it would be nice ... I just hope to find a reliable and safe method for rooting this device. I hear the Note 3 is a powerful tool when unrooted.

Galaxy Note 3 first time rooter
Hi everyone, newcomer here. Thanks for providing this community to help people out and thanks to Chainfire for making CF-Auto-Root.
I have a Galaxy Note 3, and I've never rooted before because I really like Touchwiz and the useful features it provides. I've read the main post for CF-Auto-Root, so I understand this is supposed to be the easiest root method that's supposed to retain stock Touchwiz and nothing more.
Before I take the plunge, I just wanted to clarify my understanding to make sure I really do want to go ahead with rooting my Note.
1. When you say CF auto root is rooting my phone, does that mean it's just achieving a "state of being" with the phone, and not really installing or modifying anything else with Touchwiz (besides SuperSU)? As in, everything is the same as before, Touchwiz is the same as before, and the only thing different is that I've gained permission to access more things in the software?
2. My understanding is that I shouldn't lose any data, apps, home screen app layouts, etc?
3. Will I lose any functionality in Touchwiz? Like S-Pen features, Samsung apps, etc?
4. If I receive an update to 4.4.4 or 5.0, will I lose this cf-auto-root state?
Thanks everyone for helping out!

CF-Auto-Root flashes custom recovery, which installs the su binary and SuperSU application and then sets back the default stock recovery. Everything else remains unchanged, including TouchWiz.

Most likely, though there is a chance, that su binary will not be removed, in that case you keep the root.
Hi, I have a Note 3 model number SM-N9005 which is factory unlocked with no carrier on 4.4.2 in the UK.
I'm trying to root using the CF auto root thread instructions here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423
I am unsure what file to download and was wondering if this one would work with my phone?
It is the second download option listed in the third post of the CF auto root thread.
SM-N9005 (International Qualcomm): CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
Thanks for any help.

Yes it is. That download is for Note 3 with Device Type = hlte and Product Name = hltexx.
Just to make sure, as the download is based on Device Type and Product Name, check these info for your device with this app: Phone INFO ★Samsung★ (in GENERAL INFO section).

Hello everyone I am new to rooting phones and I was looking into CF-Auto Root since it is said to be beginner friendly. I was wondering if using this method would wipe my phone of everything I had on it or would it just give me root access while leaving everything else on the phone the same.

I know XDA is a reputable site, so I don't have to worry as much, but I know that theoretically speaking, downloading things outside of the official Android app store poses a risk for being malware or spyware.
So I'm only asking this in the spirit of just practicing utmost caution, how would I know that the CF-Auto-Root file, which can be found through the link below, is genuine and untampered with?

On your website with all the downloads for the CF-auto-root there is not an option for SM-N900V (Verizon) phones. Is this one that has not been tested yet?
good
Ask..
why i cant download from this site?

There isn't a single method that has worked properly for me.

I have a used note 4. The note 4 is from t-mobile, running Android 6.0.1, SM-910T....98% of rooting methods just brick the phone into the samsung welcome screen. The one method I did find that successfully rooted the phone didn't allow me to use the phone properly being that the sim card I use is for AT&T. So Voicemail didn't work, data didn't work, Navigation didn't work..The phone was basically useless.. I can never get any actual help from anyone here or a clear set of instructions on how to accomplish what I need to do....My note 4 is unlocked...I need to root the note 4...I then need to install an os/firmware that works with AT&T. It shouldn't be that difficult. Yet it's proving impossible to accomplish.

Since your rooted with twrp. You can just install a root browser and delete bloatware. Just make sure you know what your deleting.
And AT&T should work the way it is. You probably just need to set up your apn.
