Anyone port their number over from a different carrier...specifically T-Mobile? I can make and receive calls with no problem. No texts. When I send one from my other phone, it won't send either. Any ideas?
I transferred my number from tmobile and currently have no problems. I suggest calling verizon!

Damn...I wanted to avoid that. Will do though!
All good on the western front, here. Then again, I xferred from AT&T; not T-Mobile.
So you guys that came form ATT and T-moble chose the X over the Galaxy S phones. May I ask why?

Still no release date announced for Galaxy S on Verizon. (VZ name: Fascinate)
I was anxious to get a new phone. If the Fascinate comes out before it has been 30 days on my Droid X, I might very well return it and get the Galaxy S. I kind of want the Galaxy S more than the Droid X, but there are a couple of things I'm a bit OCD about. One is the hardware buttons; I REALLY dislike soft touch buttons, which is what the Galaxy S has, whereas the Droid X has hardware buttons. I discovered one other thing I like a lot about the Droid X after I bought it, too; the GPS chip in it is insanely powerful for a cell phone. It triangulates like instantly and is very fast and up-to-date. I was quite surprised when I tested it earlier today, it worked amazingly well. I'm still mad at Motorola about the whole root/bootloader thing, but if you take that out of the equation, it's a hell of a phone.

Well, for me Motoblur is lagging like hell,
The GPS takes some time to get my position in maps,
And the screen becomes unreponsive at times, have to turn screen off and back on,.
I HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM!!!
I ported from Boost and could not send or receive texts, by any chance, did you get your droid x at best buy??
I called verizon customer service and the rep said "oh looks like somebody put a block on your account, let me take that off for you" and BAM it works

I'm having none of those problems...have you tried checking for updates + restarting the phone? The GPS in particular worked spectacularly for me with the car dock app. It was amazingly accurate and quick.
Whats the number to call for Verizon?
Well, the other poster was right. For some reason Best Buy had my account blocked for text messages. Works now! Thanks for the heads up!
hey all
as we know the SNS has a random reboot bug, my phone also has rebooted many times.
but after I turned on the "Use ONLY 2G network" option for power saving, i found it run for more than 200 hours, haven't rebooted.
so I think it maybe has relationship between mobile network and phone rebooting.
and here is the poll, please vote your situation, thanks.
3G only, and not rebooted (yet)
I leave min on auto 3G/2G, i have had this issue on 3 calls today, i have made 3 calls in total (today).
They best hurry and prove it's software or my no quibble return will be in danger!
Looking forward to a fix.
Your intention is to address both the random reboots in general issue AND the random reboots during a call issue?
I've had a few reboots during calls, but never (that I am aware of) when not making a call.
i've never had the reboot during a call, but had the general reboot probably once every couple of days.
To clarify as per Distorted Loop's comment above:
My issue has been during calls only. I have never had a reboot whilst not in a call (that i have noticed).
According to an article on engagdet yesterday a fix is coming.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
And the same news was on XDA here two weeks ago.
Seems to take some time from the source release to the OTA for sure... I am waiting to use this phone properly here!
My first android phone ever, and i cannot call on it without a reboot. Such nice kit and poor execution.
I had my nexus reboot and freeze while listening to androids stock music player. non rooted had for a total of ten days returning this to best buy today.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
WCDMA only, no reboot during phone calls, on Bionix 1.3
i never had any random reboots in my entire almost 2 months using this..
I've not had any random reboots..
No Reboots on 2 or 3g, My Nexus S has performed flawlessly since purchase, 23rd December , in fact most reliable phone I have ever owned!

agree!
this phone has been rock solid since day one
... can't say the same for the SGS
dont have data plan eventhough our network works on 3G and I had 4 reboot while talking, one was a long call and the others dont, always with wifi and sync on...
I have the nexus since 20ths of december...
I use only 3G....although about 97% of the time I'm actually on wifi. I've not had any reboots during a phonecall, although I honestly only use about 5-15minutes of call time a month so I'm not a very good representative.
The only issue that I've had since owning this stellar device was a bootloop issue that occurred on around the 3rd night I had the device (bought it the day it came out). After that, I unlocked and rooted it - no issues since.
Forced wcdmaand had 3 reboots so far today but never during a call. Usually right after a force close.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I did not insert a SIM Card ever, the phone has not rebooted ...
I've been using it for a month, with Cyanogenmod Nightlies since first day.
my recent experience.
it has something to do with the networks.
when i was in the UK, running on o2 network, i never experienced any random on call reboot.
my recent holiday trip back to malaysia, when i was using DIGI in malaysia, almost immediate i have experience a few random reboots.
lol so both of my phones are still throttled from last month... (billing cycle started 21 of march)
i call they set up a "troubleshooting ticket"
call 4 days later
"they set up wrong trouble shooting ticket" (set up new ticket)
call 7 days later still no update....
seems there is a major problem with the network here in eau claire (wisconsin)
they also sent me a "new phone" cuz my first vibrant i bought had a "burn in" the middle of the screen ( like a big circle or large C)
they finally gave in and sent me a new phone..... well refurbished... i get it and the USB port is cracked and the volume buttons dont work/locks in
called about 20 mins ago... got 60 bucks off my bill and now there sending me ANOTHER REFURBISHED!
so 3 different phones in under 2 weeks...
the customer loyalty department said if this next phone is sent (damaged/defective) i get a FREE UPGRADE NO CHARGE!!!!!!!
well thats if this data **** gets fixed SGS II HERE I COME!!! FOR FREEEEZ?!?!
so recommend if you got data/phone problems call in and ***** now... they seem more loyal to us now than back in november when i tried to get a replacement phone!!!
COOL STORY BRO!!
I been using a Nokia 5800 now for 2 years or so. I was on AT&t but just this week I flip over to StraightTalk with an AT&T simm for much less money.
Anyway, I am looking to get away from a small acreen.
I had in my hands an HTC Titan and loved Mango with the email /contacts integration and the size of the screen. I was using it to watch Netflix confortably. Anyway would have kept the phone except that in 30 days I had three Titans and ALL of them had the random power cycle every like 12 to18hrs and I had tried some troubleshooting but didn't make a difference. Beside the fact it had awful Voice quality on phone calls both ways. So all of the Titans got shipped back and I reversed the upgrade well that was when I was with AT&T which is no longer the case.
The Dell Venue pro seems like the price is right now (Amazon, Newegg) but I know the hardware is more than an year old now. At this point in time would one want to purchase this phone? Does this phone have a front facing camera too? How is the voice quality?
When I had the Titan in my hands I played with the Tango Video chat software and talked to my cousin in Australia and it worked out fine except for voice, when I plugged in a headset it was night and day difference.
Just curious how many windows phone have a front facing camera and have decent voice quality both ways?
Looking for suggestions here. I have read some of the forum but just can't make a decision on how to get away from my 3.2 inch screen of my Nokia 5800. Thank you in advance for suggestions.

You know, that's a good question, one that has been tossed around in a couple of threads. It will all boil down to personal choice, of course. Yes, the dell is an old phone. But, its still a good phone. If you can get it contract free, it may be a good deal for you. I just gave mine to my son lady week. He came from an HTC sensation. Loves it.
There are several new phones out right now, a Samsung or 2, the titan, nokia has the 710, 610, 800 out now or real soon. Most fall into tufted 3.x range. Too small for me.
Nokia is introducing the Lumia 900 series in the next 2 weeks. You can check the specs on nokia.com. They look good. This will be my choice.
This week in Barcelona is the mobile world conference. You should see a lot of new offerings come from there. If you can wait , I recommend checking out the news from mwc first...you can follow it in engadget.com, and other places.
The key recommend would be, try the phone, do the research, and most of all, HOLD the phone. See on it feels and fits in your hand. Take no ones word but your own. And mine, of course.
Venue Pro
I know the mobile expo this week but I decided to try out the Dell Venue Pro from NewEgg. They have a decent 30 day return so I don't think I can lose. This phone seems to be unlocked for TMobile 3G but I may decide if I keep it to do that procedure (which I hope works) in the menu to change it to AT&T 3G bands. well see.
I really can't spend 400 on a phone right now. I hope I like the Dell enough to keep it for a while as I save money using StraightTalk. I kinda will miss the front facing camera that the Titan has when I used it with that Tango Video chat software. I thought about used but I not so lucky with used things.

cool...keep in mind, the 900 is supposed to be $99 USD + 2 YR contract on AT&T next month
IMO there are some nice gen2 phones for AT&T bands, but not nearly as much for T-mo. For me, portrait hardware qwerty slider FTW. Now that Skype is in beta though, and since you're on AT&T, I think the Nokia 900 is probably your dominant choice (esp. if you're cool with the contract). Faster, FF camera, best rear cam (DVP prob has the worst cam implementation), extra Nokia maps, etc.
We can only dream that Nokia makes a 900 spec device with vertical slider and AWS bands. Then I predict eBay will be flooded with $80 DVPs
Sent from my Venue Pro
Well I just got out of AT&T and went with an AT&T sim card from StraightTalk to save some money a month. Nice thing with StraightTalk I can flip to a TMobile with a purchase of a Tmobile Sim card if I wanted to. The lumia 900 has great specs on paper will have to see how it is when it actually comes out with people doing some reviews. Probably the most important to me is how does it sound on voice calls in both directions... The lousy experience with Titan besides the random power cycling on 3 different Titans I had in 30 days that I had it was with call quality. It was somewhat embarressing. Nice phone but call quality stinks on that phone. Seems like people forget about voice with all the other features these phones have after all it is a phone. I can't believe in this day and age we have to worry about Voice quality on a Cell Phone.
I thought i read somewhere that possibly in May that Nokia was going to sell the Nokia Lumia 900 (or simulair) as an unlocked device. I would imagine it will be priced way out of my range but still for those that can spend.
Unlock or locked?
I have my Venue Pro now. It seems to be unlocked for GSM . I have an AT&T sim from StraightTalk and it just wants to connect on E I guess that is edge. Even after changing the bands I click save is there something more?
Just received my Sprint Note Edge today. I broke my Note 2 about 2.5 weeks ago and had been suffering through with my back Treo Pro.
All I can say is "wow". it is gorgeous. The build quality is fantastic. I'm already in love with the extra screen edge. The simple fact phone calls and other alerts don't pop up over what I am doing makes it worth its weight in gold to me.

This should go in the post right below yours.
"Living on the edge" I believe it's called.
Just got my tracking number from sprint. How did you get urs so fast? Also... Is there a thread for sprint Galaxy edge? I don't see it
Sent from my SPH-L720 using JellyBombed Tapatalk 2
Mine is arriving today. Depending on where you live relative to where it is shipping out of, it isn't unreasonable for it to have arrived yesterday.
I don't think there is a Sprint subforum and, frankly, I'm not sure if it'd be justified. There will be so few of these phones out there that fragmenting the forums even further would bring the traffic to a standstill.
Mod Edit
As has been suggested , there is already a thread where this could go
