new to samsung devices so not sure about certain things..
1. root using CF-Auto root
2. install twrp via fastbot, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3. downlad rom, wipe and flash via twrp
my question is for cf auto root do i need an odin that's specific to the galaxy s4 or can i use odin i downloaded from let's say a galaxy note 2 thread? and do i need to do anything else to install a rom on samsung phones ? thanks
Yes to 1.
Install twrp through goo manager by hitting the menu button on the "main screen" of the app. Then hit install script or something along those lines. Follow instructions. Now download and flash a ROM.
I would use the odin that comes packaged together with cf auto root. Just to be safe.
As a heads up some Roms may not have WiFi working after flashing. All you need go fix this is to flash a different kernel.

Hello,
Tried to root my note 3 4.4.2 N9005XXUENA6
i used odin3.07 with CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005
But ti will not boot in any way and as stated by Mr. Chainfire
"NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process."
it won't boot.(stays in a loop ? )
Flashing back to N9005XXUENA6 is no problem and then it is working properly
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Reflash the latest CF and it should be OK, sounds like you're using the older one.

If you wish to flash a custom rom you can get the latest CWM .6 rls or the latest TWRP

I didnt see any download. I'm not with Verizon.
It works with any variant of the GS5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...tmctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=25322046
You basically have to go to the towelroot website and follow the instructions
And on the plus side it will probably not trip knox

First redownload the CF file you need for your device, it may be a bad download. Enable usb debugging on your phone.
Then i always do the following:
1. Power down
2. pull the battery and wait 20 seconds
3. Boot into downloadmode and flash CF Auto Root and reboot.

I ran into the same problem, flashed TWRP 3 times and KNOX remained 0x0 and recovery remained stock
Ended up having to use CF Auto Root to gain root, then use TWRP Manager to flash TWRP

any tips on some ROM that is good?
Applicable To Any GT-I9100 4.1.2 firmwares
NO YELLOW TRIANGLE :
Steps:
1. Save File To External Sd-Card
2. Shut Down Your Phone
3. Open Stock Recovery (press power + vol up + home button)
4. Install zip from external sd card
5. Select the file "CWM-SuperSU-v0.97.zip"
Wait and reboot
Another way to root your Galaxy SII , The most Easiest way to root is to flash siyah kernel on odin follow this tips
Step 1: Download Siyah Root Kernel for Galaxy S2 on computer and extract Odin v3.07 file using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool.
Step 2: Power off the phone. Boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Home buttons together, while simultaneously tapping the Power button until the device turns on. Now hit the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 3: Launch Odin on computer as Administrator, as admin privileges are required to complete the root installation smoothly.
Step 4: Connect the phone to computer via USB cable while the phone is still in Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is recognised successfully, the ID: COM box will turn yellow with the corresponding COM port number. Additionally, a message reading "Added!" will confirm that the device is connected successfully. If Odin fails to detect the device then re-install the phone's USB drivers.
Step 5: In Odin, select the PDA checkbox and click the Siyah-s2-v6.0b5.tar file.
Step 6: Ensure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin. But, the Re-Partition option should be disabled or unchecked.
Step 7: Verify that step 6 is done correctly and then hit Start in Odin. The root installation process will now begin.
Step 8: Once the root installation completes, your phone will reboot and soon a PASS message with green background appears in the left-most box at the very top of Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect the phone from computer.

For people who are afraid of handling around with recovery and Odin, I recommend to use Kingo Root. But thanks @iistoryahi for this easy method without PC!!

When I tried ROM Manager last time, it was quite useless. I recommend to flash the tar file via Odin. Or search for a recovery that can be flashed via stock recovery. Hope this helps.

You can easly flash cwm recovery through stock recovery , just download the cwm.zip then flash in recovery or you can flash through odin by flashing the cwm.tar file

You successfully did it , but with boating yellow triangle with exclamation mark ? The yellow triangle exclamation mark is a sign that your GT-I9100 is running a custom firmware or after you flash via odin. You can remove it by using triangle away to reset the flash counter , download it on playstore or my attachment
after rooting my GS 2 can i flash any cwm recovery.zip from the stock recovery : )
