Hello all,
My friend has set up his S5 to receive pop email using the stock email client, receiving email is fine.. however for emails with a different timezone, receive time and date seems to follows the sender time. (See Email.jpg). However on outlook the same email's receive time and date are correct
I believe it could be some setting on the phone, however i have checked the phone's date and time and timezone, all are correct. Tried unchecking automatic date and time and timezone but did not helped. Also Deleted the pop account and recreated with the same effect. Is there anything else i can check or try?
Thank you in advance.

I just got my Mogul last week, and i find this one thing annoying -- I have it set up for Gmail, checking with POP3, and what it does is will only display mail it has not seen before, which would be fine, but if i have an email in my inbox on the phone it will get removed once it checks for mail again, even if it is still unread.
does anyone know if i can change that?
i would use IMAP but the problem with that is some messages won't display the body of the message on the phone.
So if you know of a fix to either of these i would appreciate it if you could enlighten me.
for pop3 check that its not set to download messeges from today only, and also make sure its not being deleted through gmails webaccess or some such
it is set to get the past 3 days, and they are set to stay on the server even after being downloaded through pop. I have had to go online to check it after my phone deleted one after a second send/recieve, so they are all still on the server. I just wish the phone would keep any message it downloads till i specificaly say to delete them.
I'm in the same boat with you. It's fairly annoying, to be honest. There are times when I'm not able to check my phone for email until it's already checked the server a couple of times. So when I can check it, any new messages I recieved after the first server check have already been cleared out of the inbox on my phone.
Is there no way to keep unread messages on the phone until they've been read or until I specifically tell the phone to delete them?
im not sure what the issue is, it works fine for me, messeges are always there, unread, on the phone until i mark them as read (even if i read them through the web access i still have to mark them read on the phone too) i dont know what other settings you can check
defaultdotxbe, could you possibly post the settings you have on your phone for checking your gmail account? and maybe even the settings you have under the POP3 tab in your gmail? maybe we'd be able to replicate exactly what you have for settings. it's probably that we have something set just slightly differently, and my guess is that it's going to be something in the gmail account settings, not the settings on our phones.
be sure of having this as username: recent:[email protected]

in the pop3 tab in gmail i have "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)" and "When messages are accessed with POP archive Gmail's copy"
on the phone i have all the default settings (automatically downloaded when i entered my email address) accept i change "download messeges from the past 3 days" to 7 days (although it works the same with 3 days)
im using sprint rom 2.17
I had the same issue. The username was the issue. Thx for that
yep, the username was what was wrong, thanks!
now when i send a message, the next time i check for messages it arrives as a new email... is there anyway to stop that?
nope, sorry
Hi all,
I have a Telstra 8525 and was wondering, is there a way to auto retrieve emails for all your setup accounts at one time rather than each account doing it on it's own separately? Right now I have 3 accounts set up and each of them are set to check for email every 15 minutes or so which works fine but I'd rather have all the accounts check for emails at the same time so the 3G is not connecting, checking and disconnecting each time one of the accounts goes to check for email. Hope that made sense.
Thanks,
Ho'okani
I personally haven't tested this, but I would expect them to check for emails at the same time/ within a couple seconds of each other. I'm guessing the timer starts from when you turn on your phone. I can't imagine that the phone would decide to start a timer at different intervals. Have u seen this behavior that the emails is being dowloaded at different times? you could do a simple test, just send an email to all three accounts at the same time and see if it arrives in your inbox at the same time or different times.
it doesn't retrieve the emails at the same time. I think the timer starts when you pick the option to check for emails in the individual account. I guess a work around could be to go back and cancel all the auto checks and re-set them up at the same time but you would have to do this each time you set up a new account.
Thanks,
Ho'okani
That was going to be my next suggestion. Since it's unlikely that you add new accounts on a daily/weekly basis, I'm guessing it should not be too much trouble to simply reset those timers, but than again, maybe you do do that in which case I'm out of ideas for now.

I have used the above for checking multiple email accounts. Works great! HTH
Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

I've just re-flashed and totally rebuilt my HD2 because my e-mail (both Hotmail and regular POP/SMTP) totally stopped syncing. Now that I've rebuilt the phone, everything seems back to normal for now, but I've got an annoying issue when my e-mail syncs: Everytime it syncs in the background, it displays my Inbox on the screen! So, I'll often bring the phone out of standby and find my Inbox on there. Or, I'll be doing something else on the phone and, suddenly, my Inbox will appear out of nowhere. Very irritating.
In addition to the above, the HD2 regularly 'forgets' my sign-on credentials to Windows Live and prompts me to enter them again when it tries to sync. This is despite using 'Save password'.
Anyone else experience this? Any fix?
Thanks.
Check your date. I once had this issue with an incorrect date. If the date is set to the future and you have email set to sync "last x days", it won't get mail from the future.
Thanks, but date is correct and I have my mail set to sync items as they arrive.
Hi folks,
I've configured my two email accounts successfuly but the tiles don't update according with the number of email received. Basically the tiles behave as if no emails are received
Other issue i'm encountering is the fact that text messages are not being delivered and on the phone i get no error. Although i don't receive any delivery reported.
Any one else experiencing any of these issues too? any solution?
Big thanks,
Ernesto
what kind of mail server you use (imap, active sync/exchange, hotmail)?
Your phone works well (do you loose settings after power off and on?)?
i dont face this issue with exchange active sync.
Same issue. I did configure Live, FB and Outlook accounts. My settings are also correctly saved.
1. I have set up my Hotmail account and dont face such issues. Number of newly arrived mails are shown correctly. But again, this might be cause i only have set up the hotmail account.
2. Concerning the text messaging problem, I havent faced the problem of undelivered text messages yet. But just for the record, the message delivered function is working for me. Might be an issue with your provider?
3. Although there is one update problem I am also facing:
When having 3 newly arrived emails, the Outlook tile shows the correct number of new Emails (in this case 3). But when I enter Outlook on my WP7 and leave right away withouth having looked at any of the new messages, the Outlook tile is back to zero, meaning showing no new messages, although i havent opend the newly arrived emails.
I am not sure if this is intended to work like this, or if this is due to that it is a ripped WP7 OS. Mayby somebody owning a real WP7 can shed light on this matter. I also is not a big deal for me, but nontheless, it would be nice to see the number of unread messages on the tile.
For me none of my tiles is updating. SMS, E-mails. Any solution yet?

Worked perfectly, thank you.
Since the update to kitkat, my S4 has been syncing and downloading email messages right around midnight (11:42 last night, 12:04 the night before, etc.) I have a pop3 email account set up (Comcast) and sync is turned on except that I have sync settings set to manual. Before kitkat, it would only retrieve email when I opened the app and actually hit the sync button. What changed in kitkat to cause it to retrieve email late at night? I've checked the settings and searched the forum. Any ideas? I could turn sync off entirely, but would have to turn it on each time I want to manually retrieve my email.

Press on gmail app from the phone and it will pop up sync email enable or disable. Uf you enable then them. Do for serveal time order it to eat. I have the same issues. Be careful with pop setup it pulling everything from the servers and transfer to ur phone without make copy to the servers, unless that is what u want.

I have the same issue, two email accounts set to manual sync that automatically pull emails once a day without me opening the program.
The only solution I've found is to turn on sync each time you want to check your email and then off again when you're done. This is a hassle and I wish there was a better solution. Something has to be triggering the event.
I'm also having this same problem.
