I was curious about finding AdHoc wifi - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have a rooted s4 and I was curious if anyone has found out how to find adhoc wifi?
I don't have a wireless router at my house but my home PC has a wifi card and I can make a adhoc connection that my labtop can connect to. I was curious if anyone has been able to see adhoc connections on the s4?
Thanks!

Bump, I have the exact same question. I am trying to ad-hoc to my laptop so I can use the boxee remote without a router. I found this thread and am wondering if it would work with my phone without causing any issues

Pls post the method cos i have tried many ways including replacing the wpa_supplicant a number of times and none seem to work.. So plz do post the method cos my laptop wifi card doesnt support connectify/virtual router AP and it only supports connectify in ad hoc mode. Infact i even bought a usb wifi adapter iballwua300N and even it isnt of any help. Therefore I am in dire need of a way to connect my micromax A100 to internet using my internet connection through laptop as the gprs connection is a pain and there is no 3g where i reside...Exerperts your insight will be of great help
Does anyone else have a problem with weather widget
I use ubuntu on my laptop and share the internet from it by simply creating a wifi hotspot and connecting to that hotspot from the phone. That is easier IMO. I don't know about windows though......If you want file sharing capability through wifi then you can do sftp.

Wifi Tether

Is it possible, to be connected to a WiFi with your android device, and share it yourself while being connected to it? Because i can only share ADHOC over my laptop, which i can only connect to with my rooted android, and my new android phone cant connect to it... help please.

What exactly are you trying to do? Using something like "Wifi teather for root users" you should be able to set up your phone as a wifi router. Clients (your PC) would get internet access via wifi and your phones cell network connection.

Yep, so tethering will share your mobile internet connection (GPRS, 3G, ...) with other WiFi-capable devices like your notebook. And when tethering is on, you can't connect with your mobile phone to a WiFi network because the WiFi chip can only operate in "client" or tethering mode (as long as I know).
Anyone else think that wifi tether uses way for data than it should?
