[Q] Trying to connect to ad-hoc network - Epic 4G General

Hi I have no router with internet connected through ethernet into my laptop which also has wifi.
I successfully made an ad hoc network with my laptop but when I tried to connect my Epic via wifi running SRF 1.2 it could not recognize it.
Any solutions?

Bump, I have the exact same question. I am trying to ad-hoc to my laptop so I can use the boxee remote without a router. I found this thread and am wondering if it would work with my phone without causing any issues

[Q] Ad Hoc WIFI Issues

Hi All,
I need some help with WIFI. I've set up my pc (connected via ethernet) to share internet via an Ad Hoc WIFI connection. The connection works but I have to manually connect to it every time. How do I make Android treat Ad Hoc networks same as Router based WIFI?
Thanks
I can't answer your question but I can, however, provide you with a possible workaround.
If you're using Windows 7, download and install a free software called Connectify. It turns your PC into a full blown access point. Just used it during a trip to share a hotel ethernet connection and it worked like a charm.
Thanks for replying. I heard about connectify but I use XP.

[Q] Help? WiFi Tethered to PS3 Questions.

I just wanted to know if anyone had gotten their Epic tethered to their PS3 Via wireless tether app. If so, how did you guys get it to work? And what steps is there needed to be taken for it to work?
I installed the Pre9 version and it works perfectly for my other devices, but for some odd reason when I try do a network scan on my ps3 it is unable to detect my phone. I tried googling and searching but I am still unable to find any answers. I know it maybe a noobish question, but I new to the android game and any help would greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys.
Currently Flashed on Epic Experience 1.2.04 with Herver's Baked Snacks 1.3hgz Kernel if it any helpful information.
It can't see it because of the wifi mode that Wifi Tether uses. It can't connect to an Adhoc network. Try using the i9000 Mobile AP mod, it operates with an infrastructure mode. I connect my Wii to it and stream Netflix on occasion.
I had the same problem with my Roku box. The Roku wouldn't conect to a Adhoc connection. What I did was connect my Roku to my laptop via the Ethernet, and then bridged the connections.
ps3 answer
ok this the way i use to do it on the samsung moment you have to connect your laptop or computer to the wireless tether and then on you laptop or cp you have to share connection and connect from laptop/cp with a ethernet cable...if you dont know how to do that reply back and i can help you with that to

[Q] Sharing internet connection from laptop

Hey guys,
I was thinking if there is possibility to share internet connection from my laptop to my HD 2 running Android 2.2. I remember my HD2 when connected to ActiveSync through USB it used laptop's internet.
I also tried to set up an ad-hoc network, HD2 sees it but when I try to connect it says "Disconnected", connecting to other wifi networks is no problem.
My laptop is running Vista64
Any ideas? Thanks for your help, mates!

[Q] Can't connect Touchpad to HD2 Wi-Fi router hotspot

My HD2 has the Wi-Fi Router App which provides a hotspot for internet connection. I can connect my laptop to it but my TouchPad can't. I understand that the Wi-Fi Router is only for adhoc connections and that's why my laptop can do it. The TouchPad can only connect to a "regular" wifi. My question: Is there any wifi app for the HD2 that would allow a non-adhoc wifi connection? Thanks in advance.

me too, I have HD2 running wmo 6.5, wifi sharing only works with my thinkpad, but not the touchpad. i never got the wifi sharing working when running on android either.
I use the built in WM router program & connect it to other phone devices via bluetooth.
The problème with Touchpad vs Hd2 is that Touchpad can't see Hd2 in bluetooth mode and Touchpad can't see HD2 router cauz in ad hoc mode and not infrastructure
So 2 possibilities
- First Hp open the bluetooth protocol to all bluetooth devices, and let the webos see ad hoc wifi routers
- 2nd maybe an ap will be done in order to let the hd2 creating an infrastucture router link
to be continued
