I didn't even get the notification of an update and now I can't install /uninstall sideloaded apps. Apps that are installed through the Amazon app store are perfectly fine however. Can someone please confirm this change?

I'm all updated and can still sideload apps. Please confirm whether Settings / Applications / Apps from Unknown Sources is still set to "On". If not, re-enable. If so, we'll need some more details about which update you're on and what you're trying to do in order to be helpful.

Software version:13.3.2.2
Apps from unknown sources is ON
last update: April 1st
WTF
I first noticed something was wrong when f-droid would crash every time I would attempt to install an app from there. After that I tried installing from ES-file manager and when I tap on the apk it says "sorry, no application available".

Anyone have a solution yet? I'm still dealing with robots problem even though my kindle recently updated.
I'm thinking a fake update for the package installer somehow got through. (Not sure how though) here's a screenshot of the settings page.

I've already searched the internet and forums and can't find a answer to my problem. Whenever I try to buy a paid app using my $25 Google play credits, it gives me an error that says "Error, your order could not be processed" on every paid app I try to download. Any advice? Anyone else having the same issue?
Try clearing app cache?

Are you rooted? Have you updated SU binaries and installed BusyBox?
I've noticed sometimes after a fresh root if I haven't updated SU and Busy Box I can't purchase apps from the play store.

Nope, I'm not rooted. Yet but I'll try clearing the app cache and go from there.
Googles servers could have been buggy in your area. Could be simple like restarting or yeah clearing cache. Or try downloading with one of your other devices see if it's secluded to only your device.
Try buying from the play store on your computer

No Dont!!!
Once I also updated Superuser,It started giving problems.. So dont update Superuser
if the SU binary is above 3.0
then its fine if you dont update,
i cant update my SU binaries too
I was able to update my SuperSU through the android store with no problems so I don't think you will encounter any.

Busy Box is something that you
install on your phone to give you
some additional handy LINUX / UNIX
based commands. You need Busy Box
installed because some commands
are not available to you and you
made need them for some root
level tasks.

Oh, ok friend,, thank you.. :good:
Su can be updated by at least 3 ways.
1. Thru google play
2. Thru su itself. (If you are using an old version it is under "preferences" then "check binaries"
3. Thru a zip update which is flashable via cwm. I've seen that in a thread here at xda.
If you are trying to update your su, make sure you have an excelent internet connection to avoid any sudden disconnection which does not do anything good.
Before you update it, Keep atleast a titanium back up or a nandroid back up of your su app, or a nandroid back up (but i think its to much) so that if anything not nice happens, you could revert it. It is a rule of thumb,"always have a back up before atempting something not for 'ordinary users'".
About busybox: it is currently available at the market for free. Or you could search for it here at xda. Note: busybox is NOT an app. It is a set of BINARIES. The ones you could get in the play store are INSTALLERS of this binaries.

I update superuser regularly but didnt get any problem yet. I dont have busybox. I update through googleplay.
I can suggest one thing bro, if any app works for you. Dont update it. Cause in most cases updates sucks.

I have an app that refuses to run because my Nexus 7 is rooted. So I would like to remove root and keep this app installed.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Not tried it my self but on SuperSU Play description it says that if you uninstall it, you will lose root:
NOTICE: A SPECIAL PROCEDURE IS NEEDED FOR UNINSTALLATION. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE APP, DO *NOT* JUST UNINSTALL IT, YOU *WILL* LOSE ROOT.
I would guess that if you have Super User installed, it would do the same thing.
I tried the "temp unroot" function of the superuser app and the app still recognized the root and refused to run.
I will try un-installing superuser now. Thanks for the idea, I will report back.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Some applications I believe look for the superuser application by name. So if it sees "superuser.apk" on the system it won't run. However, I know some in the past were able to be worked around by renaming the superuser application.
I don't know if this is still a valid method, but...yeah.

Try an app called OTA Root Keeper (voodoo). It will temp unroot. You then need to normally force close the app you are talking about and the run it and it should work.
When you are done if you use a lot of root apps you can the undo the temp unroot and be back to full root.
Some versions of su have that ability now too but I've not tried them yet... don't really have anything that cares if I am rooted any more.

I've tried using the temp-unroot feature of the superuser app and I was not able to do so. I wish I knew what this app was looking for.

Download supermanager from playstore, enable the root function in settings. Swipe over to tge next screen and select uninstall apps and uninstall superuser. Then reboot. That should do ut.

What app is it?
Sent from my Nexus 7
The app is called Jeppesen Mobile TC and you will only be able to download it if you have a 9-10 inch tab with honeycomb or ICS running. I managed to get the apk so if someone wants it to try please let me know.
I will try the above shortly. Many thanks!

I just tried this and it seems to have removed root like you said yet the application still thinks I have root. I un-installed the app and reinstalled it after rebooting.
The app runs fine on my gfs Nexus 7 which has never been rooted.

Can you start the app JeppTC like a demo?, because I can't see the "DEMO" button when I start the app.
From what I understand it is the process that filters apps that don't work for your phone. However, I've ran carat and it says I need to restart or kill it to obtain 5 hours of battery life. Can I disable it or what can I do? I am running stock rom, not rooted, completely stock. Thanks so much!

Don't know if you're still having this issue a month later.
Based on what you read, you can just disable it. You don't need a filter installer or a method of filter apps for your device. When you attempt to install apps for your device, the play store will let you know before installing that the app is compatible with your device.

Hi guys, are you sure that is the case? That the market app will check? I know it scans for malicious apps now in 2017/18, but what if you install an app on beta from dev's web site?? Durant the Filter Installer then kick in???
Cheers

That's what I was talking about.. Those added programs. One of them could be causing your device issues.. Perhaps troubleshoot them to see if one of them is indeed causing it.
I disabled the xposed modules and uninstalled xposed. Still doesn't work. I'm going to try with a different apk
