Hi guys,
My 3 days old S5 suddenly died (original firmware). The phone was working ok, no problems at all. Then I powered off the S5, took out the sim card and used it on my old S3 (cyanogenmod). I left the S5 opened for about an hour, battery not inserted. After using S3 for about an hour I turned it off, took out the sim and put it in the S5. WTF !**!?"*#?"!#
The S5 vibrates, i see the blue light, the start up music plays and some lines an dots appear on the screen for about a second. If I press home or power button the menu and back key light up, that s all ... i tried to call my phone (if the screen was dead) but nothing
The battery is charging (red when charging, then green)
I tried volume up or down + home + power button -> nothing
any help appreciated
best regards
Matija

Maybe a hardware deficit. Try letting it die and try again.
Generally though (goes for me and most) if your phone acts up in anyway with no possible fix, send/take it in and get a new one.
UPDATE !!! ( copy/paste from another thread)
I bought a new s5 on the 17th of April, after only four days the phone stopped working. WTF ! ... First everything was fine the phone was working ok ... the fourth day, I powered off the phone, took out the battery and sim card, I left s5 opened (battery and sim out) on my desk table. (I was by my phone all the time) I was testing something on my s3 and needed the sim card. After less then an hour I have put the sim and battery back in my s5 and powered on the phone. The phone vibrated, the blue light went on but the screen was black (only some lines appeared when booted, but not every time)... WTF ... I couldn´t call my self so I thought, there is something wrong with the phone and a took it to samsung repair shop... and then the bad news... they told me the screen is broken !! ... but there were no marks on my screen ... the screen broke inside on the upper right corner... and the repair would cost me around 200eur ... I was so fu***in mad ... The phone never fell down ! ... I was extra cautious with the phone ! and the phone was only 4 days old ...
This is probably my last samsung phone.
And here the question
I hope I´m not wrong but, ... if the screen cracks, then the phone should work normal (ok you don´t see anything but all the other functions should work) ... ??? ... because my s5 didn´t boot, at least I think so ... like i said ... the s5 vibrated, blue light went on and the back and menu key lighted when pressed ... BUT !!! if you are pressing the volume key (on a working s5) up or down you should hear a beep when the volume is max or min ... on my s5 there was no beep, haptic was not working, but it was 100% turned on .... and my phone number was unreachable !! Patern was turned off !!
Any comments, questions and answers welcome ...
sorry for my bad english
Regards!!
Matija

Hey all
I have an XDA IIi, which was working totally fine. I bought a windows smartphone, which was to replace the IIi as my main phone, so I took the sim out of the IIi and put it in the new phone. Put another sim in the IIi and attempted to power it on, I got nothing, so I put it on the cradle..all I get is a steady red light from the right LED.
When I was powering the phone off initially to take the sim off, I turned the PDA off, removed the cover, slid the red switch, waited a few seconds, and removed the battery etc....
The red light flashes when the battery is removed, and goes steady again when put back in. Sometimes it goes off when put back in, but nothing else happens.
I have tried soft resetting, hard resetting, hard reset while holding down every key I can think of at the same time, but still no go.
Is my IIi dead forever, or is there something that can be done to get it working again?
Thanks all
same thing happened to my friends XDA2 and no one ever was able to reply back nor did he ever figure out what happened to it because his warranty was up and he just bought a new one from someone, if you find out whats wrong please let me know because thats the SAME way his went bad, by changing a SIM card

I take my sim out all the time. is yours unlocked? even if it's locked to o2, it might not accept other o2 simcards. have you tried putting the original sim back in? Hard reset? I've never had it show a RED light before. this is interesting...
I have same problem after I put device on charge and after five - ten minutes his back to life
I too had this problem when i left my m1000 in my coat pocket over the weekend. It was completely dead, plugging it into the cradle to charge just gave me nothing, but if i left it, after around 10 minutes, the rred light came on, then changed to amber after around half an hour.
Phew. just dead battery. Have you tried the other battery that came with your xda ?
Hi, I had this wierd problem the other day, sorted it with a hard reset
Hope this helps.

Hello all,
I have been using a P3400i for about two and a half years and it has been an absolute faithful. Somewhere along the line a friend convinced me to flash it and I'm running Win 6.5 now for the past 8 months or so.
Now the phone had been consuming more battery than usual but then that was expected. However something really weird happened today. I used the phone around 4 hours ago (a call) and around that time it had been acting funny- the power button wasn't responding (to send it to standby mode), some keys in the virtual keyboard weren't working etc. I was in the gym at the time so I thought I'll figure it out later.
Once I got home I tried to restart it and then something funny happened. After a couple of tries, I'm not getting any display, a red light in the earpiece is constantly on, and the answer/disconnect button is permanently backlight. I've attached a pic for reference.
Can anyone shed some light on this?? Thanks in advance.
P.S. The casing is a dopod, had changed it a while back...
just try it
hi dear friend
just remove your memory card and then try to restart it may be due virus your phone is facing problem to start so just try it i am not sure but it may work
bye tc
Hi there,
i have search but can't find anything
A friend of mine just gave me HD2 and i was super excited about it.
The phone wasn't used for ages so i plugged it for 10 minutes and while plugged i tried to turn it on.
the phone started to vibrated continiously without displaying anything.
I removed the battery, unplug power, inserted battery again and it just vibrates like nuts
Once out of 5 (roughly) it flashes... the flash and then vibrates... again nonstop
once out of 10 (roughly again) it just doesn't do anything at all.
even when plugged to the power, no led or nothing.
did i get a dead beast ?
I tried, holding buttons, pressing reset button, etc but with no luck...
hope you guys could help me... many thanks in advance
Check the battery pins on the HD2 and make sure that non of them are bent slightly or anything like that. A slightly bent battery pin can cause the HD2 to do some crazy things. If non of the battery pins are bent then you might just have a bad NAND chip and the only fix for that is a new main board.
Nice bike in your avatar pic too by the way.
just checked them all out and they are well aligned and don't seem to have been touch
that sucks
Cheers for my ride i like it too ^^
cheers,
i just checked them all and they all look just fine
sound like i am fu**ed am i ?
Cheers for the ride I like it to, a least it works

Dang man that does suck, I hate to tell you, "Yeah it probably needs a new main board.", and then someone else come up with another idea. But I do think that is going to be your fix. i say this cause if it was bricked it would more than likely vibrate one brief burst and that would be it, nothing else. but the steady vibration sounds more like a bad component on the main board. Sorry friend that is my opinion. Maybe I am wrong though.
something new happened this morning
I left the phone without battery all night and put the battery in when i got up.
the screen displayed the following message.
/!\ Software update failed. Please Try again.
I couldn't do anything from that point so i pressed the reset button... (didn't want to remove the battery)
phone went off....
as it wasn't responding to anything... i took the battery out and back in.... and brrrrrrrrrrr ... back to scare one
any ideas ? doesnt smell good ...
PS : sorry for double post, hotel connexion in cyprus does really suck.
speed is bad and unstable... they have 150Mb line for the all island (no joke)
cheers

keep the volume down button pressed then swutch on your phone ...if you go into a tri colour screen ..then you might be in some luck ....then you have to go to the official htc site and download a rom update from there ..and flash it ....
i tried but nothing
now it's just dead...
i plug in it so maybe it will charge the battery normally but it doesn't seem to to anything. normally there is a led indicator no ?

Yep it sounds like a bad NAND chip. My guess is it has bad blocks that is keeping it from booting and the steady vibration is being caused by the same. Again just my opinion. I say this because it said, "/!\ Software update failed. Please Try again.", this is common in cases when the NAND went bad.
i received my Galaxy S4 I9505 a week ago and have been happily using it until today it turns on vibrates make notification sounds but the screen doesn't turn on i have taken the battery out and restarted it many times makes sounds and vibrates but still no picture and it doesnt have picture in recovery mode either.
i have never dropped the phone or scratched it its in perfect condition so i cannot see why it would stop working
i need help quick its like a child to me :crying:
pls no hate i am a noob
Screen seems to really be dead. If you've only had it for a week, you should be able to exchange it without any issue. I don't know where you live, but in Europe we have a 14 day exchange period covering us.

Try to take out the battery then put it back and press the volume down button without loose press also the power button.
Is anything on screen?
If no then service is the only way.

Hello,
Today I was speaking to someone using the speaker (because the signal was gone when putting the ear near the phone !), and suddenly the phone went black. I have no way to turn it on. With charger plugged in, nothing happens, no LED. Tried holding the power button, power + volume up + home for many seconds, nothing.
Any ideas ? Is there a hard reset procedure ? Return (and never buy Samsung again - I'm coming from LG G2) ?
Thanks !
Sounds like a bad unit. Can you enter recovery (volume up & home & power)? Or download (volume down & home & power)? If not it definitely needs an exchange I'd say. The fact you have it plugged in without there being any indication it's charging doesn't bode well.

Why would you want to exchange it for an LG G2? Don't do that! This has happened to me with my Xperia b4. Just switch it for an intact unit/get them to repair yours.
Sounds like a faulty handset. Can happen with any manufacturer, you just got unlucky with your Samsung.
I managed to force restart it by pressing the power + volume down for 10 seconds.
However, the signal is very weak, if I hold the ear to the phone it disappears. On 2G-only it works fine. Granted, there is a very bad signal area where I am right now, but my LG G2 works great...I am very disappointed. Just did a factory reset, problem is the same...
I have a GALAXY S7 edge that went complete black, no charge signs, no wireless charge, no button combinations worked (any combination possible i tried it)... nothing... any ideas?

The obvious answer is warranty (if possible).
thanks for the replay, I can't use warranty thats why i was hoping somebody could know how to check from the hardware if something's broken...
i have the idea that the battery might be dead... do somebody knows how to test the phone with no battery to check if its the problem or it might be something smaller further.
my phone is already open adn any checkup or try is worth it for me.
again, thanks for the reply and I hope you or someone could give me a clue.
my s7 edge's LCD died on me, but the phone was fully functional. i bought it on craigslist and was able to send it to Samsung for a warranty repair. i had to un-root my phone without an LCD, which took me a couple hours to do since i had to enable MTP blindly... it was an incredible feat that i'm very proud of
