[Q] Reset S5 help - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
So I got a new S5 today upgrading from a 3.
Everything was all good, rooted, downloaded titanium backup and I believe accidentally restored something from my old s3. Anyway, after a reboot. the phone starts into touchwiz for a few seconds then reboots mentioning acore has crashed.
I have tried flashing CWM but it does not seem to go into its recovery, instead staying in the stock download mode.
ANY help would be much appreciated, I've downloaded the stock UK O2 firmware from sammobile but i'm lost on what to do next/

Couple of options:
1. You can use your recovery (CWM or Stock) to wipe Data (factory reset). That will start you off as if you just got the phone again.
2. You can ODIN the stock firmware you downloaded. Load up Odin, put the file in the AP spot, and click start. DO NOT UNPLUG THE PHONE UNTIL IT IS FINISHED

Okay so if i boot into stock recovery, how do I factory reset?
Also what AP spot in Odin? I usually use PDA for the stock firmware.

Alright so I figured out I can flash TWRP if I flash that but I cant boot into CWM if I flash that,
In TWRP I have factory reset.
If I now try and flash the stock firmware it automatically auth fails.. :9

Do a factory reset in TWRP then...

**** 2654342
I have but now if I try and start it normally it just hangs on the galaxy S5 screen.
If I try and flash the stock firmware from sammobile using odin as an administrator it fails with (auth)

Okay so I'm actually lost.. No matter what I do in Odin I just get <ID:0/006> FAIL! (Auth)
If I try and install the OS using TWRP I get:
updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/usbstorage'

I've now got PhilZ touch on there.
Wiped data/factory reset, try to install zip from SD card and it just goes:
Installing update...
Installation aborted.

Okay so I can flash any recovery I want with ease. Just can't seem to install any firmware from sammobile :/
So completely confused.
In Odin I get this:
<ID:0/004> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/004> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth)
and in download mode it says:
SECURE CHECK FAIL: aboot
Should I wait for a pit file and try that?

[Q] Soft bricked SM-N9005...HELP

SM-N9005 is soft bricked, owner probably went OTA and interrupted the update now when you turn on the phone it goes to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo then loops from there. I tried to flash official stock firmware downloaded from Sammobile (N9005XXUEND6_N9005OLBEND1_XTC) and it passed the flash in ODIN 3.09 then the phone automatically reboots into stock recovery and tries to update package but from I keep getting:
E: Unable to verify whole file signature
E: Signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I have been flashing firmwares on older Samsung via ODIN and as far as I know after flashing via ODIN the firmware is already written in the phone and it doesn't need to reboot into recovery and flash the update again but in NOTE3 it does this and now I'm stuck.
I tried flashing PhilZ custom recovery and disabled signature verification but when I flash the stock firmware via ODIN it overwrites the custom recovery back to stock recovery and then gets stuck again in the verifying signature thing.
Any help and inputs would be greatly appreciated.

If you can get into recovery why not try to do a
"Factory Reset", it may solve your problems.
Good luck!

I tried to do a factory reset in stock recovery, tried wiping the Dalvik cache as well but the problem is still there it just stays on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 screen then turns off then turns back on and loops over and over.

Either nuke the phone via a totally fresh ODIN update or flash Philz recovery, when it loops on you, take out the battery, put it back in then go to recovery mode, wipe the usual dalvik/cache etc then boot up (it should in theory work) (and/or flash a custom ROM just to get it to boot properly)

Thanks for the input, the main issue why I need to flash the stock rom is because the phone doesn't boot and is looping in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 screen then vibrates as if it turns on again and goes into a loop...
Question is can I flash a custom rom over it for example there's no firnware loaded on the phone or the firmware loaded is corrupted?
You can flash a custom ROM yes, so long as you boot Into your custom recovery, do the wipes. Then installing a custom fw should work OK, once you've done that you can go back to stock or change custom fw without issues

The reason it wants to boot into recovery is to flash the csc. Make sure you get the correct firmware for your device and region from sammobile.com and odin again, let it do its thing. It sounds like the csc wasn't valid.

[Q] Note 3 N900 unable to flash stock rom using ODIN

Hello Guys
I was updating firmware stock rom from sammobile.com. During the flash the PC got rebooted. It was almost 75% completed. Now I am unable to flash any rom using odin.
I tried custom roms also but no go. Always after primary logo the screen goes blank thats it. Using ODIN it fails to apply stock firmware. Before the original custom rom I tried to flash leak lollipop rom where I used PIT file. After flashing this ROM nothing came up so I was reverting back to original ROM and It was in the middle of process but now nothing going on. ODIN fails everytime. Download mode and recovery mode is working. Please suggest further and please let me know what information required from my side
Wipe data and cache. Try another pc and beg the God. Good luck bro.
I already tried that but no luck.. wipe data /cache

try booting your phone in stock recovery with pwr+up volume, then in recovery with the volume keys navigate to wipe data/factory reset and then wipe (or clear) cache, then reboot.

so i tried this it allowed me to get to the Samsung logo and this is where it has gotten
99% of the Odin problems are solved by using a different usb port and/or different usb cable.
Ps Did you use cf-auto root for rooting? That's the only rooting method that works. Because I never heared of cf auto-root causing those problems.

Well, you could try another solution that for others is risky but it's not, if you follow the steps carefully. Flash your correct firmware with odin 3.10 and check f reset time, auto reboot and Nand Erase All and Phone Bootloader Update. When flashing process is finished, the system will reboot to stock recovery and will appear an android repairing, after it it will reboot in Samsung startup but it will not boot, so you must boot to recovery with power+volup, wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache again. Then reboot and wait, it may take up to five or six minutes approx.
i leave attached an odin version that is woking fine.
I hope it helps.
regards
* at last, maybe obvious, check that the firmware is appropiate for your phone e.g. if your firmware is i9505XXXXX and your phone is i9500 or any other it will never boot.

N910C Bootloop AFTER flashing Stock ROM and reseting everything.

So...I was using CM13 for my N910C and decided to go back to stock.
First I simply tried to flash the stock rom on Odin, but I got the FAIL message every time, so I did some research and figured it could be some problem with the PIT file. Download one for the N910C, flashed it with the stock rom and Odin did the process normally.
After that, I got in a boot loop, so I entered the recovery mod, did a factory reset and wipe cache and the boot loop continues.
It just shows the first Galaxy Note 4 logo for like 2s, then screen goes black and it repeats over and over again.
I tried to flash the rom again, tried to flash the pit file again, tried a different pit file (obviously for n910c) and no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks! And sorry for the poor english!
You have to backup your imei, then format efs partition and flash with odin.

cannot go back to stock firmware?

hi, Im actually on crdroid and I need to go back to stock samsung firmware
I downloaded G900FXXS1CPK1_G900FITV1CPJ1_G900FXXU1CPJ1_HOME.tar and I tried to flash using odin
stuck at SAMSUNG logo after rebooting (for a split of a second I can see a dead android with NO COMMAND written before SAMSUNG logo)
go back to recovery /(which is not TWRP anymore) and wiped data and cache. nothing has changed
I now have installed crdroid again but I need to go back to official samsung, somebody can help?
where did you get the tar file from? did it say completed in Odin?
from updato.com and odin sais PASS with green color
EDIT is there, maybe, a custom rom from original samung firmware?
wiping data and cache from recovery not enough, do a factory reset then if still a no go redo odin fw flash

a factory reset is just wiping system, cache and dalvik in essence. I always do a factory reset, wipe cacke, dalvik and system 3x each and delete the android folders if im just flashing a new ROM. Plus, hes doing an Odin flash, so wiping shouldnt be necessary, but deleting the android folders should still be needed

get it from sammobile.com/firmwares. Thats the only real place to get them. everywhere else can have untrusted files
odin does not wipe/reset
in stock recovery iirc theres no wiping data, so reset needs to be done, its solved many fw updates/downgrades issues via either ota or odin.
i usually wipe everything(Dalvik, System, Data, Cache) via twrp b4 flashing w/odin
while I'm downloading from sammobile (sloooooooooow), I'm tring to flash fw again
I'm still getting SAMSUNG logo problem...
tried wiping again cache... nothing
flashed TWRP and did wipe factory reset... again, same issue.
I did a full wipe before flash

the sammobile d/l does take FOREVAAAAR!!! but wait for that to complete and try it. im betting that your other tar.md5 was corrupt
15 minutes to go....
steps I did:
1: via TWRP wiped EVERYTHING
2: connected to PC in download mode and flashed the firmware via ODIN 3.12
3: booted in recovery and wiped data/factory reset and cache partition
4: reboot and...... seems to work fine (feared for a moment, took almost 20 minutes to start apps optimization)
