cannot go back to stock firmware? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, Im actually on crdroid and I need to go back to stock samsung firmware
I downloaded G900FXXS1CPK1_G900FITV1CPJ1_G900FXXU1CPJ1_HOME.tar and I tried to flash using odin
stuck at SAMSUNG logo after rebooting (for a split of a second I can see a dead android with NO COMMAND written before SAMSUNG logo)
go back to recovery /(which is not TWRP anymore) and wiped data and cache. nothing has changed
I now have installed crdroid again but I need to go back to official samsung, somebody can help?

where did you get the tar file from? did it say completed in Odin?

from updato.com and odin sais PASS with green color
EDIT is there, maybe, a custom rom from original samung firmware?

wiping data and cache from recovery not enough, do a factory reset then if still a no go redo odin fw flash

a factory reset is just wiping system, cache and dalvik in essence. I always do a factory reset, wipe cacke, dalvik and system 3x each and delete the android folders if im just flashing a new ROM. Plus, hes doing an Odin flash, so wiping shouldnt be necessary, but deleting the android folders should still be needed

get it from sammobile.com/firmwares. Thats the only real place to get them. everywhere else can have untrusted files

odin does not wipe/reset
in stock recovery iirc theres no wiping data, so reset needs to be done, its solved many fw updates/downgrades issues via either ota or odin.
i usually wipe everything(Dalvik, System, Data, Cache) via twrp b4 flashing w/odin

while I'm downloading from sammobile (sloooooooooow), I'm tring to flash fw again
I'm still getting SAMSUNG logo problem...
tried wiping again cache... nothing
flashed TWRP and did wipe factory reset... again, same issue.
I did a full wipe before flash

the sammobile d/l does take FOREVAAAAR!!! but wait for that to complete and try it. im betting that your other tar.md5 was corrupt

15 minutes to go....

steps I did:
1: via TWRP wiped EVERYTHING
2: connected to PC in download mode and flashed the firmware via ODIN 3.12
3: booted in recovery and wiped data/factory reset and cache partition
4: reboot and...... seems to work fine (feared for a moment, took almost 20 minutes to start apps optimization)

try this version of odin, i never had a fail w/it on my s5, in odin only use the "AP" button and leave settings as they are.
ODINv3.10

corrected my original post, after 20 minutes of waiting, started apps optimization, thanks to everybody

[Q] I think I broke my phone... Gt-I9505

Hi everyone.
For years I've been coming here finding answers to problems that I've had. It seems I'm finally special enough to have to make a new thread.
Phone: S4 Gt-I9505
Carrier: Vodafone New Zealand
I rooted my phone with cf-autoroot and CWM on the stock 4.2.2 version of android. I then went looking for ROMs and found the leaked (didn't know it was at the time) 4.3 version from google. I installed that and whoopee! We got along well for the first two days, but I restarted my phone on day three and that's where the problem started.
Upon reboot, my phone powered onto the Samsung splash screen, but went no further. Confused, I did a factory recovery in CWM and it still didn't go. I reinstalled the rom and it went again fine, until reboot when it hung on the splash screen again. I tried various roms and fixes and just made a mess of my phone.
Long story short, I now have TWRP on my phone with the abyss 1.3.1F kernel installed and no ROM. Is there any step by step process that someone could give me on how to proceed with TWRP and which ROM/kernel to install to get me up and running again? Not fussy on which rom but one with no bloatware would be excellent. I would be eternally grateful! :fingers-crossed:
Thanks!
Download the latest version which is I9505XXUBMGA either Odin or CWM from here, if you flash via Recovery you need to wipe data & factory reset, cache partition and dalvik cache before flashing but you can flash via Odin
I prefer to use Philz Touch recovery than TWRP

Thank you Crauze, Will try now.
EDIT: That rom is going to take ages to download. I'll update when it's done in a few hours.

Hi, you have touched on an issue I am trying to understand.
Do you only need to wipe you data and caches when you used custom recovery to flash a ROM but not when you use Odin on a PC?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
The above answer worked perfectly. Thank you!

try booting your phone in stock recovery with pwr+up volume, then in recovery with the volume keys navigate to wipe data/factory reset and then wipe (or clear) cache, then reboot.

so i tried this it allowed me to get to the Samsung logo and this is where it has gotten
99% of the Odin problems are solved by using a different usb port and/or different usb cable.
Ps Did you use cf-auto root for rooting? That's the only rooting method that works. Because I never heared of cf auto-root causing those problems.

Well, you could try another solution that for others is risky but it's not, if you follow the steps carefully. Flash your correct firmware with odin 3.10 and check f reset time, auto reboot and Nand Erase All and Phone Bootloader Update. When flashing process is finished, the system will reboot to stock recovery and will appear an android repairing, after it it will reboot in Samsung startup but it will not boot, so you must boot to recovery with power+volup, wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache again. Then reboot and wait, it may take up to five or six minutes approx.
i leave attached an odin version that is woking fine.
I hope it helps.
regards
* at last, maybe obvious, check that the firmware is appropiate for your phone e.g. if your firmware is i9505XXXXX and your phone is i9500 or any other it will never boot.

[Q] S“Unfortunately, Settings has stopped” after upgrading to 5.0

I've been using the 4.4.2 for a while now, mostly because of Xposed compatibility, but i'm thinking about selling my n900 to a friend and i'm afraid that this issue can no longer persist. Everytime after i try an update to a 5.0 rom, even if it's that through the samsung official aplication at my computer, i got this error whenever i try to open settings.
It's very weird because i often do a factory reset after a new rom is installed, clear cache and all those shenanigans, but with no avail. Tried to clear the app cache, clear it's data and nothing.
On 4.4.2. no issue at all even with custom rom and kernel. Any thoughts?
You're flashing the stock ROM from sammobile.com using Odin?
In CWM recovery i format data system cache .
Boot to download mode and flash stock rom via Odin .

What Odin error are you getting when flashing a stock ROM from sammobile.com? You're using the original Samsung USB cable? Tried other cables and USB ports?

No erros. Original samsung cable, tried on the 4 usb 2.0 and 2 usb3.0 on my desktop.
Since you are getting a pass in Odin, are you wiping data and cache right after flashing with Odin and before booting the stock rom for the first time?

The system reboots right after flashing and goes into the system, but as soon as i am able to boot into recovery, i redo the factory reset and cache.
Tyr flashing again with Odin but uncheck auto reboot. When you get a pass in Odin, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace battery, boot into recovery using button combination, wipe, and reboot.

Hi
I was on RamRom with my N910F an did go back to stock. Flashed in Odin, everything went ok, but now I'm stuck in bootloop. I know I forgot to wipe before going into Odin, maybe that's the problem. I have flashed the NEE Marshmallow.
Anyone know how to solve this?
Thx in advance

Did you perform a factory reset?
When flashing the Samsung firmware, you have to use the CSC.tar and NOT the HOME_CSC.tar. CSC is for wiping data/factory reset, necessary when you're changing OS. HOME_CSC is to keep user data, only used when updating existing Samsung firmware.
